Can someone with the phone see if Manual Camera is compatible? You just need to install the compatibility app to find out found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.vipek.camera2_compatibility_test&hl=en
According to this unboxing video it's not compatible

Yea, that's pretty unfortunate, though someone who has unboxed it on youtube replied to my inquiry about manual focus. He says the moto camera does in fact come with a manual focusing slider option so that made me worry less about being able to take good macros. With my s4 it is often physically impossible to get a good focus up close, like i can see it actually pass up the focus and settle on something completely blurry.

I can't find a focus slider. It does have an exposure slider option that lets you touch where you want to focus too.

I read your post wrong but I think that's what they are referring to
Edit: now I can't remove picture
I'm upset that Manual Camera isn't supported when it was on my Nexus and Galaxy S6. Hopefully a custom ROM launches soon.
I myself am waiting on a custom rom with the camera2api baked in. It's one of the most advanced sensors Sony has ever produced, and for some idiotic reason Motorola removed all the features it's capable of doing.

Hi All
This may be a noob question, but ive noticed this with my camera. As you can see on image 1010, its focus is on the sky, but then if i move it a few degrees down (1011) its focus is on the man across from me. These images have done this without me touching to focus or anything.
Is there a way i can get my camera to take a decent shot of both the sky and whatever is infront of me? without having to compromise a certain part of the image.
I took a lot of photos twice today in order to get both parts of the photo in good focus.
Im using:
Stock camera app
Project X v4
There is no Q+A sectin, so ive posted this here, it can be deleted once ive figured out this little annoyance.
Any information regarding this, work arounds, or why it does it would be great. Also, is this the case on all roms?

i think its just autofocus that does it. you will realise once you move the phone it comes up with the focus square
But surely there's a way to make it so it doesn't block out a section of the image just because it feels like it ?

Pretty sire it can't focus on two things at once
The focus/lighting are related, so if you've focused on the man, the lighting will adjust so you can see the man and not the sky

Hey guys, I have problem with photos at night,or dark conditions. They all are blurry. I mean, I have Galaxy S4 ,S3 ,Note 2 and when is night, tap on the screen means, light on camera turn on and object at dark is focused. While HTC One cant do it. Tap on the screen at dark does nothing and photo is blurry. Is there any solution how can I do perfect photos like Galaxy series? I also tried Camera FX ,but its the same. Still cant focus with light
Maybe is user error. Simple as just not doing it right. If not we need more info than that... Like come on how can I help you when all you say is "I'm a newbz and mah camera won't focus"?
Give me rom, kernel, camera app settings and maybe someone would be nice enough to help you.

All stock, not rooted.
Lol, this is not only my problem, but every user of HTC One get this problem. Im asking for solution. Just try that. Try taking picture at night, when on One is only black screen. How can U make a photo, which is not blurry? Tapping on the screen to focus is useless, cause it cant focus.. Its weird and sad. If I could do same as on the Galaxy, tap on the screen uses light and that means it will focus on objects at night, so U have great picture. But One, which has better picture at night cause of ultrapixles, cant do that?
Enough to know whats the problem?

Stock 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 because there has been quite a few updates that increases camera performance. Maybe some pictures could help.
If you are properly focusing on something after pressing your finger on the screen it should say "AE and AF locked".

So, I found on the internet same issue..Everybody got this problem, I think all HTC devices, but lot of people dont know about it..There was no software update which repair this..One guy got third part app, which using light-torch ,so it can focus in dark too..But he said its bit laggy, not as HTC's camera app:-/ He also tried different ROMs, nothing works..Shame on HTC..Dont understand why they cant do it like Samsung..
me too am having the same problem. am using vipers 5.2.1 and night pictures are just bad even with the powerful dual flash on the sensation

I've found the moto camera to be better than the Opo camera. Or any other smartphone for that matter.
Works great on Nameless! Thanks!
I installed it but there is a problem. You can only take normal pictures. What I mean by that is like... you cant change it to Night View.. or turn HDR on/off... aqua view.. and so forth.. Camera works but the settings are not changeable.
Coloured line??
I also have the "no settings" thing going on and on top of that there is a white/yellow vertical line while i am taking photos.
But i still prefer this camera app over stock camera app.
Simple point and shoot. Does take great pictures though. Nice find!
Anyone have the latest motorola camera apk working on our phones?
any improvements comparing to the stock camera app?

Yea, for the selective focus to not work at all on selfies is odd. I'd imagine we start seeing more people complain of the issue before too long.
I haven't tested the live focus mode much. I came back to Android from the 7 Plus and it took quite a few updates before portrait mode worked very well. I'd imagine Samsung can dial it in with some updates too.

Yeah, usually there's a warning message that pops up saying there's not enough light in the shot. I was messing around with live focus in my bedroom under some tv lighting only and saw the alert. Makes sense.
Any updates to this? Anyone do more research? I have the same with the front camera when I gave more than 1 person in the photo. It will not focus and selective focus doesn't work either.

So I got the XZ1C recently, it's on Android 9, came like that out of the box. I think it was an ex display model from Russia.
The thing is, the camera seems absolutely awful. I've attached a picture I took of a simple grey carpet in OK light conditions. As you can see if you zoom in, there's loads of yellow and blue dots that appear on the picture. Most pictures also come out really noisy, making details a blur.
I have an XZ3 Compact here and it takes better pictures than this, and has never had the coloured dots issue. Is my XZ1C faulty, or is this normal?
Appreciate any help on this!
Oh and my bad for having 2 threads up. I just figured this was quite a different topic but if a mod wants to merge it with the other one that's fine :good:
Hm yeah something doesn't look right at all. How zoomed in is that photo? I just took an up close shot in medium lighting and this is how it came out. Granted I'm running LOS 16 but I think the stock camera should be just as good if not better.

It's not even zoomed in much. Here's a standard picture I just took. I've not got as good lighting, it's just with a dull light on but it's not exactly bad lighting.
When you zoom in slightly it's pretty easy to see the dots everywhere. A lot of my pictures are also immensely noisy, the detail is just completely lost on anything far away. It's like some sort of awful compression.
I tried messing around with some settings, It improved a little but it's still pretty bad. Even the pictures that come out better than my Z3C have the horrible dots everywhere.
Yours looks good though and more along the lines of what I'd expect from the Camera. What do you think it could be?

Have you looked in the service menu to see if the phone has been unlocked? An unlocked phone with no DRM would give you bad grainy pictures.
There's achance that it's been rooted and just had android 9 put back on it, which leaves the camera working, sort of.

I thought it might be that, but I'd be very surprised if it has been rooted. When I checked the service tests on 9, it said "Bootloader Unlock allowed: Yes", but I'm not sure how to see if it has actually been unlocked
I flashed an Oreo .ftf with Newflasher though, and my camera doesn't work on Oreo. The service menu here states rooting status is unknown and mentions nothing about the bootloader. I'm not sure if I just made a mistake somewhere though and that's why that's happened, It'd be very odd if it was rooted before
If you have Oreo installed, just flash DRM fix, if this gets the camera working properly then problem solved.

Yeah there's definitely something wrong. You'd know the bootloader was unlocked if when booting the device you get the screen this device cannot be trusted warning.
FWIW my device is rooted with no DRM keys and the photos are still coming out great. What I would do first is factory reset the device. If still no improvement, flash different Pie firmware using the flash tool, like Customized EU or Customized UK. Lastly see if the results vary with other camera apps.

Oh yeah I've not seen that screen, I assume it's still locked then. I tried 2 Oreo firmwares, one was a German one, the other a UK one. The camera worked on neither.
I then tried a Global one (couldn't find one on the latest version of Oreo so it was a few versions back) and the camera worked. The same issues are still present though, maybe a slight bit better. I'm pretty baffled by what it could be.

On one of the firmwares, I think it was a UK one, I updated manually through the phone to Pie. No improvements unfortunately. I may try another one just for testing sake, good idea.
I did find something interesting though. I was looking online and saw a techradar review of the XZ1C. I've attached a picture that they took with the camera. It has the same coloured dots issue I'm experiencing with the phone.
I also tested my Z3C some more. When I'm in camera mode and I zoom in, I can see a similar issue with coloured marks, but once I take the picture itself, the post processing fixes everything and I get a nice clean image. The post processing on my XZ1C doesn't seem to do the same. It's a much faster camera but doesn't seem as clean. I took a screen recording showing this, not sure if it'd really help if I uploaded it for you to see though.
Okay - I see what you mean but I don't think you'll get a better picture than that to be honest, the camera software is just not great at post-processing to begin with. It's great in medium to high lighting, but anything in low light comes out grainy. My images look about the same if I view them on a large screen and zoom in. I had vastly superior results running GCam on my Xperia X Compact but unfortunately GCam on the XZ1C is not possible currently, if at all.
Also, if you still want to try, there's bunch of firmware here to download:
