S4 active need to upgrade to 5.0.1 - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello...
please give me some help..
I am beginner on android, flashing and so on...
I have an S4 active, with 4.4.2 with Baseband version "I9295XXUCNI1".
I want to install the 5.0.1 version, but on sammobile, the only version available for "I9295XXUCNI1" is 4.4.2.
There is 5.0.1 available with PDA I9295XXUDOD3 and CSC I9295XXUDOD1..
Is it safe to install that room?

Yes, you can install nearly any of the firmwares from the sammobile site. If you're asking which firmware would be the best to flash to your device, it depends where you are located. The NI1 firmware is available for several different countries, so I would flash the firmware for your region, it should be optimized to best work on your networks.

update: I installed the DOD3... it worked!!

another question.... my cousin have S4 i9505, with 4.4.2, root-ed....
Do I have to unroot it first or I can install the new official firmware over it?
I have downloaded the 5.0.1 firmware....

When you flash the firmware through Odin it will completely wipe the device, it doesn't matter if you're rooted or not.

thank you

but what if the S4 is locked to orange carrier?
The firmware I have downloaded is carrier free...
is there any problem?

I am afraid of bricking the phone.... I understood the root will not be a problem, but I am afraid of the lock carrier.... the baseband is not the same as the one installed on the phone now

I used the mini tools to root my phone.
Installed BLN kernel without any problem.
My phone is on I8190LUBAMA1 and CSC I8190LZTOAMA1
i was looking at samsung-updates.com and saw some other firmwares newer than my stock.
Is it safe to download and install the firmware I8190LUBAMG2 ? Is marked as an Mexican firmware(I live in Brazil).
Installing this new firmware, do i lose cmw, root?
Thanks

Hi Sergio, it is safe to install the mentioned firmware, however, consider that you are going to lose CWM and root. Furthermore, as the firmware is Mexican, it contains local apps. So, if you are planning to move to this new firmware I suggest you to after do it install the cwm again through Odin and then a Custom Rom in order to get rooted again and remove those local apps. Regards
Reyesteban,
So if i install this firmware, it will update kernel and baseband, right?
Later, when i install a custom rom the kernel and baseband will be keeped from the mexican firmware?
The installation for the Mexican Firmware should be done via Odin? or i could use CMW?

The Firmware, as it is an official one, replaces kernel, baseband and even the boot screen and you just can install it through Odin. And you are right, when installing the custom rom, kernel and baseband will keep the same. However, boot, rom apps and look&feel are going to change...

Your bootloader is locked, I'm guessing you're on UBUBML3 firmware. The only way you can update (or install any other firmware for that matter) is to get official firmware for your pone that has been signed by Samsung. The AT&T 4.4.2 update will not work on your phone unfortunately, so you're going to have to get the update directly from Telcel.

Unrooting S4 Active

Hey guys,
Looking for a bit of help with unrooting my S4 Active and pretty much reverting it back to out of the box if it is possible.
I got my Active rooted about a year ago. I did it without much knowledge on how rooting and install custom firmware works, but amazingly I somehow got it done. But now I've have got to the point where I no longer need it rooted or running custom firmware and would like to return it to an out of the box state like when I first bought it.
Here is a bit of information about my device:
Model: GT-I9295
Version: 4.2.2
BB: XXAMF7
I'm not really sure on how I rooted it in the first place as it has been a while, but I do remember using ODIN and possible CWM, if that makes any difference. I'm looking to revert it back to 4.2.2 official so I can use the OTA update feature to keep my phone up to date and so on.
If anyone is able to help me, or point me in the direction of a good tutorial on unrooting and installing official firmware that would be great.
Thanks

Hi
One of the safiest way to unroot you device is to back up your phone then flash a stock firmware 4.2.2 or 4.4.2 available on sammobile.com and flash it with odin. You will automatically go back to stock firmware and it will be same as it was out of the box.

Thank you for the help.
I managed to find a stock 4.2.2 firmware on sammobile.com for my phone and country, but it seems like samsung haven't pushed out a 4.4.2 version for Australia yet.
There is a 4.4.2 version for New Zealand though, which is basically just next door to Australia. So I found that quite odd.
Do you know if there is anyway to flash an official 4.4.2 firmware to an Australian device?
Thanks again.

The country on the firmware doesn't mind because even you choose let say netherland versions it will work find as example for me I flashed singapire version on my s4 active while I'm in Mauritius and it work fine... you may choose any of it to install
Sent from my SM-T210 using xda premium
It doesn't matter which country firmware do you get. The country is there only for OTA updates. So if you flash a Netherlands stock ROM then you will get the next OTA update when Netherlands gets it. Otherwise other country.
Just flash the stock ROM with odin on your phone and it will be unrooted, removed the custom recovery and all back to stock.
Good day to you.

Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T 4.4 - Can I Flash 910F ROM?

Flash N910T with F910F ROM
Hello guys, I need your help. I got as I thought SM-N910F brand new in Russia with 4.4 KK. It worked fine except for being weak to work with 3G. 4G was OK. Russian localization was OK. When I tried to update the ROM, I discovered this device is not 910F but unlocked 910t instead. While experimenting with flash, I damaged efs. Then I restored it with Kies flashing stock ROM. So now I'be got lollipop phone which says "insert T-mobile SIM".
SI my idea is to flash it with some European ROM which support Russian language. Possibly, some 910f mod? Can somebody suggest which ROM to flash? Unfortunately, I didn't backup original ROM.

You cannot flash a N910T phone with a N910F custom or stock twrp flashable zip file rom.
What you need to do now is to find, download and ODIN flash the official firmware which
came with your phone in order to get your phone working properly again.
Sorry about that,
Have a great day!

Thank you, Misterjunky. There is no such a thing as "official firmware" for my phone. Because it was brought to Russia and unlocked unofficially as I can see now. They even changed the phone label on the back side. So they flash some custom firmware, I think so but I have no idea which one.
To put it more clear, what i have now is exactly official firmware. I've got it with Samsung Kies Tools - Firmware upgrade and initialization which downloads the official firmware based on model name and serial number. But unfortunately this is not what I need because it doesn't accept my local SIM
BoBCaTROM by @turilo worked for my device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...cial-bobcatromn910fton910tw8-v2-0nk5-t2992648
But the problem with 3G persists. Device works with 2G and 4G without problem, but doesn't work with 3G. Any ideas how to adapt modem from 910C to this model?
