Move weather app from Note 4 to Note 5 - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
As my title says, I'm trying to move the weather app from my Note 4 to 5. I have the file zipped and downloaded onto my 5, but how do I install it in Recovery mode?
The reason, I like that weather app better than whats on it now or any other one in the app store.
thanks,
jegonzo3

Apk file? Just installed like other apk.

I figured it out, I thought you had to go into recovery mode to do it from the .zip file. Anyways, I got it installed, but the app didn't work properly, so I uninstalled it.

Themed MARKET 2.2.7 Black,Blue,Red,Green

I cannot take ant credit for these. I have found them in different forums and all I am doing is posting them here for you guys to enjoy also.
Disclaimer:I have personally confirmed these work on 2.2.1.But that doesn't mean it will work for you and I am not responsible if you brick or break your phone
Back up your vending.apk from system/app folder BEFORE you try to install this
Market must be already installed and configured(Logged in prior to install)
These are all installed through clockwork in recovery
DO NOT RENAME
1.install zip from SD
2.choose zip from SD
3.scroll down to desired zip and install
4.reboot system
5. enjoy
FOR THOSE HAVING FC ISSUES TRY THIS AFTER INSTALL
1. Make sure Market is closed (task manager or FC)
2. Go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> All
3. Select Market
4. Clear data
If it works, good for you, otherwise: Try the Installing again
5. Launch SGS Tools
6. Select Market Fix, check both boxes, apply.
7.) Most important: after reboot, REPEAT STEPS 1-4.
If Market is not showing up.
Install Original from one I posted or back up your vending.apk from system/app folder and replacing it with your original vendng.apk
EDIT: Here is were I found them

Black or White?
Just curious, but are the backgrounds of these markets white like the normal one? or are they indeed black as your pictures show?
If not, is that a theme that would do that?

They are exactly like the picts show.the only white background is the lighter blue one
Great find. I like the Dark Market as it will go with the Darkness theme but I also like the Dark Blue theme. I guess I will switch off pretty often between the two. Thanks

Cool, trying on Perception 10 in a bit, the dark one will look killer on The Darkness2.5 theme as mentioned above.
Can't get any of them to work on Perception 10. I tried to install using the .zip file. It places the Vending.apk in the system/app folder, but it doesn't show up in my app drawer. Same results if I extract and place it there by my self.
I would love to have the dark one as well for the Darkness theme on Perception 10

Check the link provided by the OP above to the original posts - there are some troubleshooting steps there and a patch I believe.
I am using the Dark market with the Darkness theme on P10. Just installed it last night. Just moved.it with root explorer to my sd card, went into recovery and chose install zip from sd card and ham it worked fine. I didn't have to look for it or anything. It actually has a different icon for the market on my home page as well.

Market must be already installed and configured(Logged in prior to install). I have no idea why because I am not the creator but I have personally done it this way and have had no issues what so ever installing them through clockwork. I updated the OP with this also.
I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue but I get FC after I install something and then FCs when trying to open the market again. I have to reinstall the stock market and then install the dark market and then it repeats the issue. So I can install one thing, restore stock market, install dark market, install another app and repeat.

wow Maybe try fixing permissions in Rom manager or Recovery and see if that help
I was trying to figure this out awhile ago with the OP from linked thread and it turns out that even though some markets say 2.2.7 in the info for the package it was really 2.2.6 when pulled from phone and opened. I think that 2.2.1 uses a different market then 2.2
Haven't tried the dark market yet but the Dark Blue works fine.

Flashed fine for me using the black market 277. Have since been updated to the P 10 v0.5 patch and no issues.
You are rebooting after putting the file into /system/app/ dir right?

I said earlier that I couldn't get any of them to work. I really wanted to use the Black theme, so I reflashed Perception 10, and before restoring any apps or anything else, I tried to install the themed market. Of course I signed into the stock market first like OP stated. Anyway, it worked. I tried to recreate the problem I had installing it before, but I can't seem to now.
Cool,just installed the black/blue app market on my Cappy,looks freaking sweet with reefermattness's Darkness 2.2 theme-took about 6 tries using member RockRatt's method(thanx) !

[REQ] new Google News and Weather app (GenieWidget.APK)

Hi guys, Im trying to get the Google News and Weather app (GenieWidget.APK) from Nexus S, or other newer version, running. I have an older version that does not auto update, so it kinda sucks.
The new version is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13473045
Ive tried dropping both the APK and/or ODEX file via file manager, also rebooting, but the files are not there afterwards. Im rooted and using FileExpert app, which is granted superuser Im told via toast message.
Also tried direct install of the APK, but again no go --> 'Application not installed' error.
Im running the Mosiac III ROM.
Searches have not helped so Id appreciate some help!
You might wan't to try Root Explorer from the market. Its what I used to install the genie widget. It is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is copy it into your system/app folder and there you have it.

but do i need to delete the old one? Is necessary to change the permissions of the new apk? If yes how?
If the installation is failing you are going to need to adb push the application to your system/app/ folder and then it should work... I am also looking for the new geniewidget.apk (sorry for bumping an old thread).

Apps that won't run on Nexus 7 - can we fool them ?

I have a couple of apps, specifically FIFA 12, that would be perfect on the Nexus 7 but they won't install. They will not show from the store at all and after sideloading it tells me the "app is not authorized for this device"
Is there any way to work around this ?
I pulled the apk manually from my phone and installed it. Then i copied the fifa12 game data file from /sdcard/Android/data and pasted it in the same folder on the n7

There's lots of ways. I used SuperManager
Funny, I side loaded Fifa and had no problems with it. BBC iPlayer side loads as well.
Use something like titanium backup, then open up with backup in a file manager that supports unzipping and extract the apk.

[Q] Get AOSP apks to install in Sense?

I flashed to PAC rom and copied some of the apk files back to data/media/ folder then flashed back into Trickdroid and tried to install some of the apps.
I managed to install the clock app, the gallery app (I wanted the photo widget) and the browser app. But other apps such as Phone.apk had a "problem parsing the package" or something similar when trying to install the apk.
Is there a way to do this or is it impossible for some apps?
Thanks

It's impossible for some apps. Also the best way is to use root explorer and copy them to system/apps and set the correct permissions. Be careful though and create a backup incase you run into issues.

Google Now Broken on 7.0 and Pixel Launcher

Updated to 7.0 yesterday via the flashable zip and just noticed that i can't swipe to the left from the home screen using Pixel/Nexus Launcher to get to Google Now anymore. Anyone else seeing this?
convert it to a sytem app through titanium - mine works just fine
Or download flashable zip of pixel launcher and flash it. It needs to be a system app.
I had same issue, just flash the pixel launcher zip and flash from recovery.

how did you install it? I flashed the pixel launcher in recovery, and have 0 issues

I updated yesterday & Google Now works fine. FWIW, I downloaded the official Google Dev zip file to a Windows computer, unzipped it, verified adb device connection over USB and executed the "flash-all" bat.
