I bought a used XT1053 that was on Nextel Mexico and intend to use it with Straighttalk so I unlocked the bootloader so I can run the TMO 4.4 firmware. The upgrade went fine except after I reboot once, the second time the unit comes up, the boot animation changes and it displays a verizon splash screen. I flashed TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2_1FF that I downloaded straight from Moto and ran the .bat in fastboot. Any ideas what is going on? All seems to work on the phone and I have 4G/LTE.

Sounds like you downloaded the Verizon Dev edition firmware and not the tmobile, I'd download it again.

Thanks for the reply but I'm positive I downloaded
MOTO X, GSM Dev Edition:
KK 4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2 (Retail)
Which is TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2_1FF.xml.zip. I triple checked and it's fine on the 1st boot, it only changes on subsequent boots.

I'm not sure that a full restore image changes the boot logo screens. If your phone works on your network, then maybe all you have to do is change the boot loader image(s) which are just graphics and have nothing to do with what the phone is running..

I can try redoing the bootloader in fastboot, funny thing is it boots correctly the 1st time. It's almost like the OS thinks it's a non standard bootloader and rewrites it.
Hi guys,
I have Canadian (Rogers) Moto X running with the 4.4 Verizon software (because of the included languages). Boot loader is unlocked.
The boot animation is in 3 Steps:
1. Motorolo logo
2. Motorola earth animation
3. Verizon splash screen
How can i remove the verizon splas screen at the end?
I tried to find out by myself, but I got kinda confused because I think the bott animation depends on bootloader unlocked or locked etc...
Has anyone removed that? I would like the rest of the animation to remain stock.
Thanks

i was under the impression that the verizon screen you see is actually part of the motorola earth animation. meaning you can't separate them. you can go and find other motorola earth animations that don't contain the verizon splash screen over in the apps and themes section i believe. i think even some people on att are getting verizon logos for the winter boot animation that it got move to in december or november.
Remove Verizon Splash
Hey everyone, so does anyone have any idea how to remove the Verizon splash image that appears after the boot animation? This is the only thread that mentions it and it would be great for a lot of us if anyone could share how to do it. Thanks!!
I could speculate that if you are rooted.. you can copy the bootanimation.zip file to your PC. Remove the one MP4 in there that has VZW logo... but the other MP4 in there (the main one) also ends with a couple seconds of a VZW logo... so you'd have to open that in a video editor and take it out.
Or make your own boot animation and replace the stock one.
If you are not rooted, then... you can't.

From what I can deduce, it's just another image. I have a Verizon and also a Sprint Moto X and the Sprint Moto X does not have a carrier splash screen after the boot animation, the animation just lasts longer on the Sprint phone than on the Verizon phone.

On my Verizon X... if you unzip the stock bootanimation.zip on the PC, there are two MP4's in it. 01_globe.mp4 (6.94MB) It contains the "moto earth" animation, and includes a few seconds of the verizon logo. The Second is 02_globe.mp4 (64.92KB) smaller and is just a few seconds of the VZW logo.
So if you remove the 2nd MP4 from the zip. you'll still see the VZW logo.
Not sure if the Moodles/Moto Boot Services app determines what rom is on your phone and assembles the boot animation because in the app, it does have separate VZW mp4's, and animations that do NOT contain the VZW logo. The boot animation in my phone's /data/local/moodles folder includes 01-intro.mp4 (2.83MB), 02_VZW_fade.mp4 (729.56kb), 03_vzw_loop.mp4 (64.92KB) and videodesc.txt
It looks like for non-VZW X, it would be 01_intro.mp4 and 02_loop.mp4

If rooted, navigate to /system/media/ and delete bootanimation.zip (or rename it). Now you only see the Moto Logo (from logo.bin), then a pure (and pretty) animated Android logo until the home screen. - Sweet!

NOTE: these files are formatted for phones who are running 4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.3 or 4.4.4. If your phone has any other version, or the bootloader from an older version, these may not work for you!! (see the bottom of this post for bootloader versions)
For those who have a LOCKED bootloader, Motorola Boot Services apk will update the CLOGO and Boot Animations seasonally and on a timed basis (they revert back to "stock" after a certain date).
But what if you've unlocked your bootloader (since you wont see the new CLOGO)? Or what if you want to keep that boot animation after its time is up? Well, that is where this thread comes in...
I've made LOGO.BIN files for those with UNLOCKED bootloaders (removes the Unlocked bootloader Warning, and replaces it with the seasonal CLOGO's graphic), and flashable boot animation files to use stand alone and will paste them here if/when new ones come out.
Boot Animations... (NOTE: Verizon users who flash these will NOT see Verizon's part of the animation )
Fall 2013 (also used Fall 2014)
Winter 2013
April Fools 2014
Spring 2014
World Cup 2014
Stock Moto X Boot Animation (from the 4.4.2 ROM) NOTE: this is the same Boot Animation used in 4.4.3 and 4.4.4.
To apply, you must be bootloader unlocked, and have a custom recovery (like TWRP). Download the ZIP to your /SDCard, boot to the custom recovery and install/flash the ZIP.
LOGO.BIN files... (Note: Flashing these with an unlocked bootloader will remove the Unlocked Bootloader Warning message, and instead give you the corresponding Moto Boot Services app seasonal boot logo)
Fall 2013 (also used Fall 2014)
Winter 2013
April Fool's 2014
Spring 2014
World Cup 2014
Stock Logo.bin (from 4.4.2 rom) with Unlocked Bootloader Warning removed NOTE: this is the same LOGO.BIN used in 4.4.2, 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, and has the "unlocked warning" replaced with the standard moto graphic.
To apply, you must be bootloader unlocked, and have a custom recovery (like TWRP). Download the ZIP to your /SDCard, boot to the custom recovery and install/flash the ZIP.
Other LOGO.BIN files...
The following ZIP includes all custom LOGO.BIN files I've made and compiled. The ZIP also contains a read me file to explain why there are two folders inside (one has the original images to PREVIEW, and the other contains the BIN files to flash).
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/X-STUFF/X-LogoBins.zip
To flash... Download the ZIP to your PC, unzip it, find the logo.bin you want to use (view the included readme.txt), reboot your phone into bootloader mode, connect it via USB cable, open a command prompt on your PC, and issue the following command...
mfastboot flash logo <filename>.bin
If you wish to revert to the stock LOGO.BIN, it is included in the SBF file for your phone, which are downloadable from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0 however, if you have an unlocked bootloader, flashing the stock LOGO.BIN, you will get the unlocked warning message.
For more info on CLOGO, LOGO.BIN and how to make your own LOGO.BIN See -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-Bootlogo.htm and http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/moto-x-boot-logos-t2417961
EDIT: For Fall 2014, it appears Moto reused the Fall 2013 Clogo and Boot Animiation according to the video in this droid-life post -> http://www.droid-life.com/2014/10/03/motorola-welcomes-the-fall-with-a-new-moto-x-boot-animation/
EDIT: The following is a chart of bootloader versions, and what ROM version they belong to. If you have a 4.2.2 bootloader, these LOGO.BIN files will NOT work on your phone!
30.70 = original 4.2.2
30.71 = 4.2.2 OTA with camera update
30.B2 = 4.4
30.B4 = 4.4.2
30.B7 = 4.4.4
If your bootloader is 30.70 or 30.71 these logo.bin images will NOT work for you!

Worked great for me. Thanks!
I flashed the boot loader of the american moto maxx to my turbo thinking I could maybe unlock on moto's website but it said not allowed.My number version of boot loader changed with no I'll affects to my phone.Is there some way that an unlock could be exploited from the maxx's boot loader?
No, the Turbo and Maxx bootloaders are nearly identical. Flashing one to the other would not affect anything in regards to unlocking (although I'm surprised it booted at all). The parts verified by the unlocking process are not in the bootloader, so if Motorola really really wanted to, they could essentially 'flip a switch' and allow bootloader unlocks (It's actually much more complicated than that).
turbo with maxx bootloader.
Thank you for your reply,I was just experimenting to see if it would work and of course it didn't. Likewise I thought it wouldn't boot but my phone is fine. I flashed all partitions but get error about system invalid signed image.
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to replace the Moto G 2nd Generation unlocked bootloader warning splash screen to the stock splash screen please?
Thanks!
