Have you tried doing the rename trick (the .nv_data.bin) thing while running JPC? Having it use those settings might work

Hmm okay =P I managed to resolve the issue like that ONCE- if you check your about phone your baseband is saying "Unknown" too right?
I ended up just giving up and going back to stock =P

I have got the code After I flashed JPC and it locked my phone, i was afraid and flash back JM2, it also ask network unlock pin, i done the cmd: mv nv_data.bin nv_data.jpc ect... It works very good, but i unlock my galaxy S with the unlock app from the market and with an AT&T Simcard! Works perfect the unlock on all rom, the problem is only on the JPC.
You shouldn't have moved the files, you need to revert it(use the nv_data from JPC) for your sim card to work (it happened to me today...), i changed it to the old nv_data and my sim card stopped working, even with the default sim card.

Yes! My baseband version is unknown...
I think that rooting JPC and applying the same procedure of replacing the nv_data* files with their corresponding .nv_data* ( or previously backed up versions, possibly) should make your phone work with it (you need to root because JPC somehow changes the file permissions of the /efs folder and all its contents to -rwx------).
I haven't tried it, though - the experience of having my SIM-locked phone reject my SIM card was too nerve wracking for me. I'll wait a bit longer on JM6 - it's almost september!

Its sounds like the SIM card is not compatible. I know of one person who tried to use a SIM from Iraq but it would not work. Can you try another SIM card?

I googled the symptom and found that sometimes the contacts just dont press on the card firmly. The solution was to cut a piece of business card and slide that in on top of the SIM card, to make it press against the contacts better.
Another result I found was that someone had their IMEI number blocked. Perhaps when you unlocked your Tab you erased or messed up your nv_data.bin file. In settings/about, does you IMEI number start with the digits 004 ?

Very good, I'm glad your IMEI is ok. I don't have any other ideas at the moment, perhaps someone else will.
One more thing to check. In settings/wireless/mobile networks/network operators, try manually selecting your carrier. It may not be switching automatically.

[Q] No ''SIM unlock code'' prompt

Hello guys. I have a bit of a problem. I have bought a Droid 3 , blocked on Verizon and it doesn't ask me for the unlock code. I searched everywhere and did not come with an answer. I have to mention that I am from Europe and the person that had the phone before, tried to put the codes more than one times and that may be the cause. Can this be fixed? Thx.

Hi, did you try to leave the phone on for about 2 hours? It should ask you to insert the unlock code at a certain point, even if the maxumim number of tries has been reached.
Is it XT862 model?
Yes i tried, i left it for an entire night. Yes it is the XT862 model.

If you dial #073887* the sim unlock code prompt should appear.
Please try that, if you haven't done it yet.
Done that. Nothing happened. I dialed the code into the dialer application. Have i done something wrong? Thank for the help , by the way.

You're welcome.
I don't think you did something wrong, you just have to type that code in the dialer and when you insert the last '*' symbol the prompt should appear. I tried it on my Milestone 2 (that has never been locked) and it works.

[Q] Galaxy note IMEI problems

Hi, First off all, i've searched the whole day after solutions before posting this tread... So be helpfull please.
So, after I Flashed, rooted and updated my Galaxy note GT-N7000 to android 4.2.2 it worked nice for a couple of hours... and then suddenly i lost connectivity. i restarted and the phone didn't ask my pin nr... So after some research i saw that my IMEI was changed to "004999010640000/01"
That could be the possible reason why my phone doesn't detect any sim card anymore.
Anyway, i've done a lot of things to solve it today, even a downgrade to 4.1.2
Things i've tried:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
http://gsm-fahim.blogspot.be/2013/02/samsung-android-repair-efs-imei-repair.html
and some other things... But none of them helped... :s
Can someone help me out please? :s
Phone specs:
Galaxy Note GT-N7000
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband: N7000XXLSO
Buildnr: JZO54K.N7000XLSZ
i would love it if my phone would be fully restored to zero, so it would be like, brand new from the box...
Greetings!
You have a so called "developer IMEI" now. In official TW Roms there seems to be a check in android.policy.jar for the pin. And so you do not get the SIM pin dialog.
This happened many times and so a lot of times this question has been answered and the workarounds, solutions etc. are posted.
So why not search a little more (like "cvxcvx").
Simply try to change the Pin in Settings (new Pin=old Pin should work) and you should have network connection.

Hi, thank you for the response.
I've been trying that too, but i can't seem to find that setting anymore .
unlikely i didnt think about the fact that this would restore my pin... :/
[Edit]
I've found, rarely, yesterday i didnt, how to change pin codes... And its works... but doesn't solve the problem of the IMEI.
And when i restart the phone, i need to change my pin again to get connection... Can someone solve this? :/

if you use a TW ROM based on XXLT4,5,... you can try the android.policy.jar from my old XXLSC dump. This works for me.

[Q] No calling, no texting, everything else works

Hi everyone!
I bought recently a new galaxy s advanced and for some weird reason i can't make calls, can't text and can't receive anything. But i can unlock my sim without any problem and i can use mobile internet.
I had first the original gingerbread rom (i9070XXLK2), rupgraded it to 4.1.2 jelly bean(i9070XXLQE), rooted it, upgraded the kernel to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597 and after that tried a cyanogen rom(this one => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497660 ), went after the cyanogen back to the 4.1.2 but nothing works.
atm it is running original 4.1.2 rooted and cwm.
I also tried galaxSim but it doesn't support the galaxy s advanced, also the *#simlock# thing does not work. I am not sure there is a simlock on the phone because mobile internet works.
If you need more info just ask! Not really sure what information you need to know.
I have no idea what to do now, i hope some1 can help me.

You must do Factory reset when you change ROM. Do it now.
Do you have I9070 or I9070P? On CM you do not have network unless you change tee folder if your phone is I9070P.

I have factory resetted it 3 or 4 times (after every rom flash).
It's an I9070, not the P one.
If some1 tries to call me they hear an automated message tape thing that says my number is blocked and i need to call my provider.
I did call my provider and there is nothing blocking my number or the phone.
When i put my sim in another phone everything works fine so the issue must be in the phone itself.
Thanks for trying to help :highfive:

I tried 3 different SIM's but all from the same provider, i am going to visit a friend tomorrow to lend his SIM (he has another provider). I wiped dalvik cache every time i factory resetted it (after every rom flash)
Is it possible there is a piece of hardware in the phone blocking the calls and the messages?
Found out something new, if i do phone (the app) => call settings => additional settings, i get a message saying "network or sim card error".
I am searching for an hour now for a fix but i can't find anything. I will keep searching for another couple of hours, i really want to fix this.

I don't know, as far i can see there is no sign of a provider/region lock. During boot no logo from a provider, sim can be unlocked when it asks for my PIN.

I bought it from an auction, a phone shop went bust and they sold thousands of phones. They had over 20 shops and they were not promoting a provider.
it was brand new in a sealed box and as far as i know i don't have warranty.
Is there a place to check if there is still a warranty on the phone?
EDIT: just checked and i have still warranry (produced at oktober 2012) but the problem i have now is, i flashed it a couple of times, isn't my warranty ruined now?

I am not sure how is it in your country about that. You can go to some service center to see if the phone is locked to some carrier.
I just tried to check the binary counter, but as far as i can see it didn't move during the flashes and looks original
When i go in download mode i get this:
Odin mode
Product name: GT-I9070
Custom binary download: no
current binary: samsung official
I think this means it got still warranty?
If it is, i'm going to put back jelly bean on it and try to send it back to samsung, is there a chance they will fix it and won't find out i messed with it?

Sad news, the phone is back from RMA and there is a simlock on it, but the problem is i can't find a method to remove it 4 free (don't want to pay even more for the damn thing). I am going to a shop from the original carrier over a couple of days(i know which carrier simlocked the crap out of it and they have shops not really far from here) but i am not sure they unlock it for free, and tbh the people that work there probably have no clue how to do it, so i don't have a lot of hope for that so i want to try it first myself if that's possible, but i tried already a couple of things and none of them works. Anyone an idea how i can remove it?

I was afraid of that, thanks to confirm. Went to the carrier which locked the phone and they said it is illegal to unlock it, which isn't true of course (checked it everywhere and it is legal) I will find a way to fix it with the carrier, thanks for the help.
