Long story short, phone is locked, guy forgot his password, wife in her infinite wisdom bought it thinking I could just wipe it and replace my M8.
It was originally on OF4 but I couldn't find the .tar files, so I tried flashing OF3 with Odin, and it still says that it's locked. I've also checked off on 'Nand Erase All' and to no avail.
How can I get this phone to work?
Have you tried booting into recovery and doing a factory reset?

Yes, I've tried wiping it before and after the Odin flash.

Hey guys,
I recently got a new phone so haven't been using my milestone anymore and a friend offered to buy it from me.
So I of course was going to flash a stock sbf back on for him, i chose to flash 2.2.1.
I immediately ran into problems.
First off it worked fine, rsd (ver 5.3.1) gave me a pass, i disconnected the phone and rebooted, the android logo shows up and all is joyful in the world.
This is where the problems arise...
I rebooted into recovery to do a full wipe, and a cache and dalvik wipe, then i rebooted once more.
Instead of rebooting normally the phone now just goes immediately to bootloader.
No matter what i try it jsut alays goes back to bootloader straight away. there is no error message it just says ok to program blah blah like normal.
i've since flashed all the different bootloaders, the vulnerable recovery, every single moto sbf i could find, i even tried removing the volume buttons and keyboard to make sure the buttons weren't broken and automatically taking me there due to a short.
no luck.
did i kill this milestone? seriously, any ideas would be appreciated because i am totally stumped now.
Cheers.
Please someone help. I still havent gotten any further with this.

I have stock at&t S5 and it was working fine then just went it a bootloop. Tried going into recovery and doing a factory reset and even wiped cache and it still does it. Any ideas how i can get the thing to boot up? I have called for a warranty replacement but i's rather not wait for that if i do not have to.
thanks.

you did absolutely nothing prior to the bootloop?
i would use odin on a pc and odin the full stock tar (for your att s5) in AP slot.. this will wipe everything on internal memory but should work if nothing else is wrong

i didn't do anything out of the ordinary no. just using some apps. i got it to actually boot if the usb cord was plugged into it when it rebooted which is kinda weird. anyways, it's working now so i'll mess with it and see if it does it again.
It appears to be a battery problem. Borrowed a friends battery and didn't have the problem, so I have ordered a new battery. Hopefully that will do the trick.
So I encrypted my phone. I needed to do a factory reset to wipe all data. I factory reset it and now the phone boots to the encryption password(which it shouldn't). I enter it and it's stuck in a boot loop.
Any Ideas?
I am going to try odin. My only problem is that I am in Alaska and GCI uses the T-mobile variant so the boot logo wont be the same? I'm trading it in so hope they wont notice.
I'd odin to stock using this method.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. It's not from t mobile though so before I took it back I removed all the boot logo stuff and hid the t mobile apps.
If I get my hands on another note 4. Does anyone know of a way to dump that stock rom so that I can use Odin to flash it to this one seeing as how I probably won't be able to ask my carrier to do it for me.
I've been using Moar rom on my Sprint Note5 for like a year. My phone has been fine until last night I had it charging and woke up to it in a boot loop.
I can only go into download mode and not recovery.
What are my options? My main concern is getting all of my pictures off.
Thanks
Just go back to stock with Odin. It will not erase anything on your phone. You can get all your photos off your phone then factory reset and root again. Just make sure repartition is not checked before you run Odin.

Did that, it did not work. Still a boot-loop. Has anyone else been on the same boat as me?
I have a N960F/DS i bought it in Singapore and it's been fine so far. However, yesterday i wanted to root my phone and try some custom rom. When i click the oem unlock option, it asked me to factory reset the phone. But i cannot click on the "Delete All" button. It's grey out. So i went to the Recovery mode and select wipe data/factory reset it says MDM does not allowed factory reset and the phone reboot..
That is basically what happen.
Here's some extra info. When i first bought the phone, i used it for a few days and it starts to lag a little so I factory reset it before, and everything works fine after that. I did flash some update via odin and firmware from samfirm. So i thought maybe i flashed wrong firmware. I tried to flash the original firmware, bl, csc etc but it doesn't solve my problem either... Any help???
I searched it online and I saw some solution to this : Apprently you had to flash some mdm fix, but it's for S9. I wonder if I could use it for the Note 9
