OTA Update downloaded to my phone, hit remind me later a few times
Towelrooted my phone to manually update to Lollipop so I can keep root
Phone just shut off and is trying to install OTA on its own
Now I'm pissed, every time I turn phone on, it will start the update.
Is there any way to stop this and get back to my Kitkat so that I can manually install Lolli?

You said you are rooted, if that's the case then you have nothing to worry about, The update will fail to install. Just let it try to install, when it fails you should be able to boot your phone normally, then you can manually update to 5.0.1.
Awesome! I thought I was screwed.
Thanks for letting me rest a bit easier. This phone has sure been a PITA for me.

I hadn't broken the screen of my i537 yet. Once it broke I jumped ship to the i9295 and couldn't be more happy. If they ever release an international/unlocked version of the S6 Active I'll buy immediately. It's not that I care that it's more durable, I just really like having physical buttons.

Hehe, yeah! I will be looking into that issue for my next phone. I bought it used because I needed a quick replacement phone.
Thanks again

Not sure what this is yet. Non rooted, stock image.
5.1.1?? Will report back...
Not 5.1.1
No idea as they haven't posted changelog, but hopefully a fix for MicroCell issues everyone is experiencing.
Let us know if you see any changes.
Update downloaded.
Real upgrade from OE2 to OF3. Thats all it says.
@Globalrebel where are you looking for change logs?
Update just finished. Yeah Android version is still 5.0.2. Baseband G925AUCU2AOF3 now.

You mean since 5.1.1 was supposed to hit the S6's "in June?"
This is getting ridiculous, we need an update from 5.0.2, the memory issues I'm dealing with even on XtreStoLite are almost unbearable
Exactly and as updates for 5.1 come out for other carriers we get updates for random att crap that are almost a month old
It's sad to say that the latest AT&T OTA patches the export for ping pong root, don't take the OTA, because you cannot downgrade the Odin fails

They know because it says on the Ping Pong Root thread not to update for anything past May 15th as the method for root has been patched
I'm curious if there are any other undocumented changes besides the 2 official changes listed earlier. It feels like a fairly big patch for a fix to an phone location and a kernel security fix.
Is there any hope, luck or signs of achieving root on this new firmware

Wow, what a crappy push out by AT&T.
In any case, what process do i need to freeze in TB to stop my phone from trying to download and/or annoying me with that pop-up when it does happen?

AT&T Software Update is the main one, but there are a few others - I don't have an AT&T ROM on mine right now to help out, but it's been posted a few times already (I think I even posted those once)
Just freeze att software update. Then it can't even run so no downloads. I got lucky I clicked on update after reading it in Android central but didn't want to install it. Postponed couple of times but somehow it automatically loaded the update process. I was like sh#t. When it booted up it said a problem updating. And then I blocked the updater. My root almost gone lol

Hi,
I'm French and I 'very got a stock nexus 6.
I have the 5.1.1 android (LMY48T) and as I noticed a notification about 6.0 I started the update.
After few minutes, the update was DLed and a rebootr was announced... But nothing.
I waited for a bit.
And tried to shut-off the phone for a manual reboot... Now I'm still in 5.1.1, and when I check the update it's says that my phone is up-to-date..
Any help?
Thanks for reading.
Greg
Happened to me too on my Nexus 6
Thanks for the contribution, did you find any piece of information anywhere else?
no not at all :/
Bummer...
hello gregaste
i can confirm the exact same problem downloaded the ota and pressed restart and install and nothing happened it its telling me ur device is up to date ! i hope somone can help us
Are you rooted? Not sure what "very stock" means. OTAs will fail if you are.
Had the same thing happen to me. Twice. Got a replacement N6 last week and I was letting all the OTAs go through before unlocking the bootloader and rooting. When I got the 6.0 update notification I let it download. After rebooting it didn't update and when I checked system update it saif I was up to date despite still being on 5.1.1. Then, for fun, after returning my original Nexus to stock I decided to let the 6.0 update download. After rebooting I was still on 5.1.1 and again it said I was up to date. Very weird. I got impatient and flashed the factory images.
I'm stock, and i'm not sure about my first message, but I'm positive that "very stock" is an auto-correct fail...
I phone to Google android help yesterday, and a guy told me something like "s-h1t happens" more polite though, and that I should wait for another notification... let's hope.
Happened to me as well. Once the ota is downloaded, give time to the phone to restart itself in recovery, it takes about 10 mintutes to go into recovery and dont interfere with soft reset.

That may have been the October security download. After getting Marshmallow on my N5 and N9 weeks before, I got that update notice, downloaded it, rebooted and noticed the old Lollypop boot animation. I thought the update didn't get applied and never got another notification. I later ran Stagefright Detector and noticed that the two latest CVEs were remediated. So I'm still waiting for Android 6 for my Nexus 6.

I went from LYZ28J to LYZ28K with that update. I believe T-Mobile and Sprint are on different forks of Lollypop.
Im having issues with my gear live. Samsung is NO HELP. this is my second one.
it is stuck on LWX48P and will not do any OTA. I would really like to get the updates as i believe the 5.0.1 is the root of my issues. I am familiar with flashing on my Galaxy phone but have never done the watch.
Can anyone direct me on how to get this stupid piece of junk to update? from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Gear_Live#Official I cannot see how to go from the version I am on.

Brendo, thank you. I finally got the tool running on my PC with the drivers and all. it reset my watch to KMV78y. the watch is currently downloading an update.
EDIT,
after download the system updates said (public) KMV78y to KNX01Q. but would not do anything. it seems the watch wanted to reboot just before it finished downloading.
EDit 2. Finally. it said update ready and installed. then each other OTA went smoothly and the watch is now on the latest and greatest LCA43. Lets hope this solves all my issues.

I'm stuck in the same place you were after your first edit, it downloads the update from KMV78Y to KNX01Q, but then nothing happens. If I go back to update it just shows the text [Public] KMV78Y ->KNX01Q. Resetting does not help, but it allowed me to download the same update again, with the same result.
How did you get it to go on and actually install the update?

It seems it just needed to think things over for a while. After waiting 10 minutes it told me that it had an update for me and asked to install. Now I'm going thru the upgrade chain and hoping thing will work out nicely.
I guess I was just too impatient

HAHAHA!.. yea it took forever to get over that hump but it does go. Glad to hear it is working for you.
I figured out how to fix this problem with debug user 5.0.1 not taking OTA'S! also not coming up with ADB Sideload recovery not showing up in computer or error device not found! this method works in fastboot mode unlocked bootloader! PM ME, cant upload right now! have to work in morning! need someone to host! I can get you 6.0.1!
Hi I have a problem from going to 5.1.1 from 5.0.2. I have tried clearing cache,
I have 9gb free,
made sure everything is up to date and enabled,
and have factory reset my phone.
Still doesn't work.
Says something about "dm- verity verification fail" if I go into that developer screen when you hold power, home and volume up right after it tries to update again while loading.
Never has been rooted and have had it for a few months now. Also I was wondering if I could root this phone and just manually update it with custom firmware and forget about Ota updates anymore and be able to run the latest and greatest firmware. I have read in a few places that the new bootloader is un-cracked though and can't be rooted? Thanks.

Would love a root, but if the rumors are true, that a new S7 Active version will be announced in Jan and released in Mar, and the new S7 Active (still likely only an AT&T exclusive...) has noticeable improvements, perhaps a root solution for this phone may fall to the way-side.
I'm on the fence about getting an S6, kinda waiting to see if I can get any confirmed specs for a new S7.

According to Slim, root is broken on the new update. They also changed the bootloader so you can't downgrade. They apparently want everyone to update to the new software.

Of course they do... they don't want folks rooting... Sammy knows what's up... if they were decent they'd give us a bootloader unlock to make up for rushing the devices to market to beat Apple on the release date (which is already cracked smh) and catch a few more percent of market share...

For clarification, you were able to root a replacement note 7?
I read, somewhere, that the update starts when you power it on the first time. I am hoping to root mine immediately to avoid the update.

Yes you are correct. The update starts to download when you power up the phone, but you can pause the download or postpone it for later install. This is what happened on my phone.
