Hi, my name is Jason. I'm new to this site. First off, I've been reading around the site. Good questions and answers and very helpful.
I recently installed a whole bunch of songs from my laptop on to my G4. Upon opening the music player I realize that only a handful of albums have the album art. I installed around 100 artists and maybe 15 of them have the cd cover art. One of them has only 1 song and when I hold down the default album art, it brings up the option to Change Album Art. So I did. However, when I do that same thing on all the other albums that have more than one song in it, the Change Album Art doesn't even come up as an option.
Am I doing something wrong...or am I just not seeing where I need to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried running this app?

It's been working great on my G4.
Funny enough, I just discovered this app yesterday. I installed it and it works great. Thanks for the response...I appreciate it. I'd still like to know why the music player allowed me to change the album art on 1 or 2 artists, but not on the rest. Seems kinda goofy. Thanks again though.

Finally a new music player. Im testing it out right now. Ive already noticed something it has that I wanted and that bigger album artwork. Its called the mixzing player. And it analyzes your music library and gives you suggestions on music. Its pretty good so far. It won me over with album artwork!!! lol
post some links?
What app are you talking about, I don't see a new music app in the market?
Search for MixZing music player. Its free
Not seeing it in the market, is that where you downloaded it.
Looks like it got removed... I saw it earlier and was going to download it...
I hope it doesn't resurface as a paid app...

Can't find it on the market. Could you please link us to it. Maybe take a back up of it using Astro file manager, upload it somewhere and link us to it. I hope this is not piracy as the software is free right??

thnx man...it works...cheers...!!!
It's Lite => There would be a paid version.
anyone know if scrobbledroid works with non-stock media players?
No it doesn't, which is to be expected, as it is written specifically to the default media player. Just listened to the same song on both default and Mixzing and it was only scrobbled after playing on the default player.
that sucks. I like to have my music scrobbled. (I still haven't figured out WHY though. lol)
Yeah I DL'd MixZing before it disappeared and so far it is pretty nice. I am a stickler for album art and the default player is pretty weak in the aspect. I have TuneWiki too but the artwork results are spotty with that. MixZing appears to be a simple reskin of the native music app with suggestions added and larger artwork plus a slightly nicer UI. I just wish they would work on the image resolution for the album art. Every one looks a little blurry. Other thatn that it is definately an improvement over the stock player.
overall im pretty happy with it, its a bit slow, and thats my only gripe about it. Otherwise, the album covers look nice so does the interface.

Hi,
I also downloaded the lite version from the link inside this post but how do I get the album artwork (the covers)?!
It is the main reason for me for searching for a better music player and I do not see any cover ...
cu
Download link
Thanks for the download! It seems a little bit buggy right now (which may be why it was taken down) There is a lot of potential with this music app.
It currently makes great suggestions with a decent UI.
• Unless you are review the recommended songs, the >>| button only repeats the song.
• Also, when playing the recommended songs, it only plays 30 seconds. - I don't know if this is how it was written or they are using this as a 'preview' to purchase.
• Shows the artist album artwork in the background however, the 'recommendation' field covers most of the image
Thanks again!
Hello,
When I show the recommandation I sometimes get the cover in the backgground of the song.
But how do I get it into the Album list etc.?

For album covers what I do is sync my music onto my sd card through windows media player. If you use advanced tag editor and add your album art there it will encode it into the file when it syncs to your card.
Why the music player doesn't show the picture of the album during playing a song? Only for some is working even if the picture are present on the laptop and are showed in the player of the laptop
Happens to me all the time. I don't know why. All I guess is that windows reads the tags differently than android. I use album art grabber from the market. For a very small price it works very well. Very good and simple app.

I second this
I think it only displays album art that is embeded in a file. No album art that I have as just jpg's in a folder show up.
Shows all my album art for me! You just gotta tag everything correctly, just use mediamonkey or mp3tag.

Rename the art to AlbumArt.jpg and it gets read. Also, if art is not showing up, play a track from the album, and restart the music player.

Hmm, you try the auto tag thingy or are you adding jpgs? Mp3Tag searches amazon for tag info and downloads album art too (i think directly into the mp3) and when it downloads it works for me. Mediamonkey's autotag service seems to be down or something but it was working on friday .
I still think the easiest solution is to use Album Art Grabber. It only costs a few dollars and takes a few seconds to run. Here's a little review of the app. http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=630&Itemid=46
If you have any suggestions for it, the developer is great at responding to feedback. I know he's already working on a few updates that will make it even better.
Album Art Grabber +1
Another vote for Album Art Grabber. Bought it yesterday, works great, super easy. Definately worth the money.
I'm trying too album art grabber and it works perfectly!
I'm nerdy and tagging my mp3s properly, so no need for extra software. I think Windows uses ID3v1 to display info in folders etc. & Android afaik ID3v2. Various applications use different tags, so I'm using both and for the album art to show, the images needs to be embedded too.
I have searched far and wide through this forum, and also googled it, and there doesn't seem to be an answer, so I will bring it up again. I have imported pretty much all of my music with iTunes, which tagged and organized all my music. However, when I put my music onto my nexus one, many many albums get sorted into "unknown artist" when all of my music is nicely sorted in folders by artists. This seems very strange to me. People have suggested double twist and a few other various programs, but no one has given any input as to whether these programs worked. Does anyone have an answer for this?
As I was looking through the albums that have been filed as "unknown artist" I noticed that each song had a number infront of it as the designation of which song number each song on the album was. I am going to play with this tomorrow and see if editing each track (this is going to suck, I have over 4000 songs in my library!!!!) will help at all.

well froyo will have the ability to play music OTA from itunes with an update for the music application in the market after froyo releases. it may fix the problem. if you can wait for a few weeks it may be resolved. as for being put as unknown, maybe the artist is not tagged correctly. check the mp3 tags to make sure that data is there
Your ID3 tags are screwed up. Your filenames don't matter, it's the ID3 tags.
Use MP3Tag (google it), it's one of the best taggers there is.
+1 for mp3tag
been using it for years
I dont let any programs "automatically organize" my music
becareful with it though, if you mass edit something incorrectly you could find that all of your tags get messed up
try music folder on the market
Well, thank you very much for the info! I will look into it today and hopefully get my music all sorted out!
I have the very same problem.
Most of the replies here seem to suggest that retagging the mp3s will solve the issue. However, all of my mp3s were working correctly before I upgraded to Froyo. To confirm this, I've just done a restore to cyanogen 5 and sure enough, all were working fine again.
When I used easytag to fix some of the files, they still didn't show up the correct information under Froyo. So, there's definitely something fishy going on here!
I have similar problems sometimes when there are multiple tags (id2,id3 etc). Using an app to clean the tags and reapply them in a uniform way usually works tho.
A seperate issue tho is embedded albumn art doesnt show up for a couple of albumns. The tags are identical to other albumns that work, and so are the image file types used to create the cover art. Anoying! These are the kind of little niggly problems that make jo public buy an iphone

What app would you suggest to clean them up? I've tried using MP3Tagger Pro, but I'm a complete n00b at this sort of thing.
I downloaded MP3Tag, and that did the trick. the only thing is that It does take a long time to get everything set up. And I downloaded the album art from amazon. I have only fixed a few albums, tho. I have over 4000 songs in my library, so I am only doing the ones that I have on my storage card at the moment.

If it makes you feel any better I have over 12000 tracks and some were tagged badly that I pulled from a friemds music library
So I had something strange happen. Ever since I got the update for froyo, all the music on my SD card has been properly tagged (at least it gets sorted correctly by artist, album, etc.) Hooray for FROYO!!

Android music library issues
Hi,
Here is the issue: after installing cyanogenmod 7 on my HD2, I have tranfered about 5Go of music from my pc to the sd card.
The problem is that all these mp3 have proper mp3 tag in ID3 v2.3 in UTF-8, but they are all recognized as "Unknown artists" mp3, and the album is just the folder.
I have tried to transfer an alicia keys album (only a single album) to the phone, also in id3 v2.3, and it is correctly tagged and recognized.
So I've tried to delete de media storage data, and reboot the phone.
At the start up, the system rescan the entirer sd card, but now the alicia keys albums are recognized as "unknown artist" and the album is also just the mp3 folder.
I have the same issue when rescanning with meridian player.
The problem seems to appears only when there are several folder of mp3/large amount of mp3 files to scan ex: >1Gb)
At this point, I've understood several points:
1. android can correctly read mp3 music with tags in ID3 V2.3
2. massive scan of music seems to be the cause of incorrect recognition of mp3 from android.
At this point, is there a way to properly scan mp3 with there tags, even in a massive scan ?
Hi All,
So, I recently went through my MP3 collection and finally cleaned up all my ID3 Tags (Specifically Artist and Album Artist fields) using Mp3Tag which tags in ID3v2.3 which is suppose to be android friendly (which took HOURS). Now when I actually sync any large amount of songs to the device many (tons) of them many of them display unknown artist, which just cant be because they all have these fields filled in. Now I know the XOOM uses the MTP protocol and so I have tried using WMP and Songbird to sync over to the device as well as just using window's 7 explorer to copy files over to Xoom. In all cases as soon as the MP3's actually get on the device it self it starts reverting the metadata taging on my MP3's back to the way they were before I cleaned them up. I have no idea how. This is honestly driving me nuts. To test this out I have removed all tagging data from some of the files and manually refreshed it and it still happens. Any other music nuts out their seeing this, and if so have you figured out a way to get around it?
Thanks,
Jvward
PS I honestly love the Xoom even with this problem its my fav
what program did you use to do all your tag editing? i recently did this with my 120GB music collection (96% legal too) so i can sympathize with the amount of effort it takes. i have however, not experienced the problem you described.
drop one of the affected files into your dropbox and pm that long with the correct and incorrect tag data to me. lets see if i can duplicate problem.
I sent you all the info please let me know anything you find, this is driving me nuts lol.
Please let me know what program works best for getting album art for my collection.
having the same issues what a pain in the ass, have to edit in winamp/itunes! WTF
Actually check out STAMP ID3 Editor very easy and its adding everything to the correct folder, artist, album and album cover...let me know how it works for you!
Ok, so this must have been here for a very long time, but i still can't find an answer.
So, i got KINGCOBRA BUILD 7 and i had this problem for a really long time (Before i rooted and flashed my phone).
So, i got a folder with 20 songs and every each of them have a different Artwork (Album Picture), but when i play it with the music player it just shows the picture of the First song on every song in this folder.
It's really annoying, is there anyways to fix it?
Thanks.

Edit the ID3 Tag of each song. Download an ID3 Tag editor. Make sure they have theyre different album name. Preferrably they are name accordingly to from what album it is. And using ID3 tag editor you could assign song name, artist name and album art also. If there are more questions Im very happy to help

Another way is to use from MP3dit.apk to check and change everything on mp3 files.
