hello, as mentioned I'm rooted on the stock OS (system version 7.4.9 user 4952320). Due to the issues with kindles and google play services that started around April or so I have play services stuck at version 7.0.97. I haven't had the need to use the tablet lately and noticed today that the youtube app will not work due to the unupdated google play services. Is there a way to use youtube again on the tablet?
On a side note, I noticed that there was an update for Kindle fire HD 7'' to version 7.5.1 ? I didn't notice until I was searching the forums due to my tablet not telling me to update.
Have you got twrp recovery installed?
I didnt need twrp, as i just wanted root on stock, but decided over the weekend its probably better to have a custom rom, so followed hascode's instructions to get CM 12.1 on it, making this question no longer necessary =P Thanks for your concern
What happens when you come to update cm 12.1?twrp recovery would allow you to flash nightly updates to CM12.1
hmm? there's no problem updating cm. I was just on stock amazon fire os, which started to have problems with google play services , thus not able to start youtube app. So i gave up on fire os, added twrp, and CM 12.1, which seems to be working fine with youtube.

Hi,
I rooted my Kindle Fire HD. Installed Google Apps, somehow let Google Play update some of the original Kindle Apps too.
I find that it's pretty buggy and kind of slow. Is there anyway to take it back to the original firmware I tried just downloading the 7.2.3 update from Kindle and installing it via "Update your Kindle" but it did nothing, maybe because I'm already on 7.2.3.
Anyway I really only use it for comics and it seemed better before I started playing with it. Anyone got a guide for taking it back to stock?
Any one ? I want to do this to

Hi all,
I've rooted my Kindle Fire 7" HD but I'm unable to install any apps via the Google Play Store. SuperSU has been install successfully & I've also upgraded it to v1.3. Root Checker Basic confirms that I do indeed have root permissions. I followed the tutorials posted by @prokennexusa & the app loads up fine. But when I attempt to install anything, the Play store closes. When I attempt to reopen it, it will close straight away. I have to clear the app's data before I can load it up again.
I had done this previously on a different Kindle & all was fine so it's probably me missing a step. Anyone got any ideas on what that missing step might have been? I'm running v4.1.10 of the Play Store. Is this the latest?
Cheers for any tips you can give me,
Lee
Make sure you're using the right GAPPS for your OS. I recommend flashing Kinology ROM, as it includes GAPPS and SuperSU. It's just stock with extra features, so it works really well.

Reboot your kindle some times GPlay hasn't configed
Please reference this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245335 (I can't post in the dev forum based on my new account)
On my KFHD 7" I've used several of the CM builds, including the latest posted on 7/13. So far NONE of these builds allow me to run HBO GO from the Google Play store. I get a force quit immediately upon launching the app. This may just be a known bug, but I haven't seen it noted in any change logs.
Interestingly enough, if I run the Kinology ROM, which is based on the stock Amazon OS, I can download the HBO GO Tablet Edition from Amazon, and THAT one works fine. I haven't found a way to grab the latest APK and install manually (since Amazon Apps now considers the Kindle an incompatible device), but I suspect if I could do that I'd be fine.
Can anyone offer advice or at least confirm that the app refuses to work?
Thank you.
So , using this website I managed to install cyanogen mod, the version was equivalent to android 6.0.1 but the problem is that it came with root controls, no matter what I did the root controls made Fire Emblem heroes and Fate/Grand Order crash.
To be exact FGO and FEH can check even if root is disabled and hidden if its present or not. And I'd like very much to play those two games on the kindle fire HD 7"

I am still trying a few things.
With Fate GO, apparently the root errors (60 and 61 if I remember right) are not always triggered by actual root. Error 36 (I think) was ADB.
So it seems to go down a list. If it checks build type, well even the last official CM nightly was test-keys.
I currently have it partially working on stock os. It loads up and actually starts. These devices were not Google Certified so they were not shipped with PlayServices installed.
It's been quite awhile since I had to manually install PlayServices so, it might take me a little while.
Finding the right files for API 15 and what order to install them.
Once I get it running on stock I'll move back trying custom roms.
Screenshots from current setup.

Thats odd on stock rom after installing play services it pops error 61.
found this old kindle recently, Kindle Fire HD 7 2nd Gen, and i remember I had previously done some work with rooting and flashing but I'm not sure what I had done with it. I cant access the bootloader via buttons on startup so I may have broken something but it boots up and can browse the web and download apps from the amazon app store. I seem to have attemted to get the play store but either failed or it stopped working over time.
whats the best way to move forward with updating it? can I just flash a new rom?
