I bought the Kenya version from Jumia. Is the bootloader locked? Is there anyway I can tell if its locked or not?
Also, if its unlocked, can I flash a custom recovery then root thru it?
Thanks!

It is locked, and there i a bug in which you cannot unlock it with the
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
command
Their is a method to install custom recovery, please see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/hot-2/development/android-one-rom-recovery-twrp-root-sp-t3227682
I bought mine from Jumia (Kenya) and after having hard time trying to unlock the bootloader, I switched to official infinix 5.1 & I flashed custom recovery, rooted

I'm interested in rooting my nexus 6. I know that you have to unlock the bootloader in order to root the phone and install a custom recovery. But after all of that is done is it ok for me to re-lock the bootloader for security reasons or will it have any issues?
Thanks in advance.

Why is that the case? I was able to unlock flash 5.0, relock and side load 5.1. Did Google change something in 5.1?

Yes. Very much so.
problem is.. you now have to enable oem unlocking, to unlock the bootloader. technically, you can still be rooted and lock your bootloader. but the problem is that some have gone back and relocked their bootloader(not with root i dont think so) only to find that they cant boot up, that they end up with a boot loop. and then they cant unlock their bootloaders to flash the factory.img, because you need to check that setting first, to unlock the bootloader. honestly, i think someone with root, and twrp, would be able to. if not, you can fix it by formatting a few things(if you have twrp).

If you have a custom recovery installed, then having a locked bootloader is no more secure than having an unlocked one...

okaay so i rooted my phone again and decided to unlock my bootloader, i have verified that i am able to unlock my bootloader and follow all the instructions on the official sony website on how to unlock the bootloader. i get no errors during the cmd process either, i turn my phone on and it gets to the purple boot animation screen and then freezes. Is there anyway around this ?
EDIT: Also i used DooMlords thread and get the same problem? /: - I also use Flashtool but when i press 'blu' i only have the option to RELOCK my bootloader? :S
Anyone ? /: been looking for the solution all day

Just flash any desired custom form via fastboot and that's all, it should work.
When I unlocked my bootloader with stock firmware it doesn't boot anymore either, so I had to flash any other or reflash it again

Just flash a official FTF, then go to service menu, tests -> configuration and if your bootloader status is:
Unlock allowed: Yes - you can unlock your bootloader
Unlock allowed: No - your bootloader is hard bricked and there's no way to solve this (permanently)
Unlocked - congratulations.
I suppose your bootloader is hardlocked. check for yourself and if anything changes - quote

it says ---> Bootloader Unlocked: Yes. But iv'e tried to multiple times and still get stuck at the animation screen on boot up
If you are on a custom rom you just have to flash the custom kernel over it putting the phone in fastboot . No need to unlock bootloader again. Please ensure that the rom supports the custom kernel or there can be bootloops .

I have tried unlocking it with and without a custom ROM on my phone, it says 'Bootloader Unlocked: Yes' on the service info and i also only have the option to RELOCK my bootloader when i try it on the flash tool. Does this mean that it may actually be unlocked already?
EDIT: im also using This custom ROM which has custom kernals to select from
-Thanks

The rom that you gave link to is a stock firmware based custom rom, so it will have stock kernel.
I think it must be written Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes, on your phone
You will need to unlock the bootloader, PM me I will guide you how to do it.

Hi,
I have a VIE-AL10, firmware B183. I am trying to update to B195 but I believe I cannot do it because I unlocked the phone.
I don't need the unlocked bootloader anymore (for now) and my idea was to relock it and unlock it again in the future but unfortunely I have lost the code I got using DCUnlocker.
There is a way to recover the code in this unlocked and rooted phone?

Thank you, I imagined that. Any way to recover the unlock code so that I can redo the unlock procedure after I upgraded the phone?
Hey guys I want to relock my bootloader on nougat
How can I do that??
anyone knows how to lock the BL on Nougat? I accidentally updated my unlocked BL device from marshmallow to 7.0. but the BL is still unlocked, and now I want to relock it.

Don't know??? Never try to relock it...so you have to flash stock rom and your BL will be automatically locked...

As far as I know if you are running a custom boot image you won't be able to relock the bootloader on nougat. It's a feature to prevent you soft-bricking your phone, because if you lock it and it detects unauthorised firmware it will refuse to boot.
To relock nougat, simply use the dload method to get a completely stock device and you will see that the bootloader is now relocked.
Hi everyone !
I really need help. i bought Huawei P9 with brand T-Mobile on Android 7.0 Nougat Version: EVA-L09C150B376. I haven`t and can`t found ROM file: EVA-L09C150B376 to flash it and have again LOCK BOOTLOADER. What should I do now to have LOCKED BOOTLOADER? THANKS !
Yeah the title says it all. Just wondering if that's possible or not since I'm not sure if I'd have to wait for a week for my phone to be unlocked, while I could get the job done in no time.
If unlocking the bootloader is required, then would force unlocking it using mtkclient work (triggers bootloop, haven't tried to relock it and see if it fixes it)? Or will it only work through official bootloader unlocking?
No, you need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash a recovery over the stock one

Oh, alright then. Thanks. But can I just force unlock it or is official unlocking required?

You need to unlock first, since locked bootloader will block any flash over system partitions

I meant if I should unlock it using the official method, or using the mtkclient method?
