I've noticed that clipboard comes up sometimes when you want to copy text, but how do I open up the clipboard to paste various things that have been saved? Usually in a text field, Ill only get to paste the last thing copied. Do I need the pen out or something?
It's a virtual place, not really an app to open. And it just stores the last thing that was copied/cut.
Edit: If you long press in a text field, an option for the clipboard is available.

On the sprint note 5 make the keyboard pop-up. Hold down on the microphone button (next to space bar ) you get several options, the middle option is the clipboard. Using samsung keyboard hope this helps a little

Hey guys,
I was reading gizmodo's blog and it had an article about the chrome to phone. In the article it said that was possible send links, maps/directions, phone numbers, texts... well I'm using chrome to phone on my N1 for a while already and so far all I could send over was links and maps/directions. I Googled about it and I didn't found any instructions how to send phone numbers or texts.
Has any figure it how to do it? Or is not implemented yet?
Thx.

Just maps and websites as far as I know.
It works with phone numbers.
and text you highlight
goes to phone's clipboard!
I'm not sure if you mean sending texts and phone numbers from your browser to your phone or to another phone, but you need google voice with a google number to send texts to other cell phones from your computer. This may not even be what you are asking.
Appbrain can send apps to your phone using ' fast web installer'
....same service-cloud-phone api
Ahhhh now I got it.
as superhongry said it works with text/numbers u highlight. So if u wanna send a text, all u have to do is highlight the text and send to phone. It ill be on the clipboard so all u have to do is paste into the notepad or w/e u wanna keep.
Same goes for number. If u wanna send a phone number u saw in a webpage all you have to do is highlight the number, send it to phone and past it into the phone app dialer.
ty for the help ppl
it still just send the whole page when i have something highlighted... am i missing something?
Yeah, I haven't been able to figure out the sending text to the clipboard feature. I've tried highlighting it, copying it first on my desktop, and random other stuff that doesn't even make sense to try. Only ever sends the webpage link.
Any trick to doing it?
Well, I guess is still a beta service so aint all that smooth... even when you highlight text/number it ALWAYS send the whole page, but the important is that the highlighted text/number get's stored in the system clipboard. So u can simply paste it w/e u like it.
According to the google doc page, when u highlight a cell number it should auto load the dialer, but that's a big negatory.. it simply don't work. But still the referred number get's stored in the clipboard so u can just past in the dialer.
When they launch a 1.0 version I'm hopping it will all work out.

NOPE!
Just select the text. Right click and select.
(Done using Firefox 3.6.3, Send To Phone 0.8 and Nexus One 2.2 FRF85B)
Funny enough in Chrome we don't get that option to right click an highlighted text and "send to android".... kinda sucks that Firefox extention has more functionality than Chrome's extension itself.

I'm sure once they update it they will add all the functions firefox has

i tried sending a phone number to my phone yesterday morning
it was working. the phone automatically launched dialer with the number already inserted.
later in the afternoon, i tried again to show some friends...failed. all it sent was the entire page.
im sure they're still working out lots of bugs.

Well that just sounds like the standard Murphy's law working there
And thanks to the others with info on the clipboard. I never thought to check it when the page was sent over too, I just assumed it failed and sent the page instead.
yeah i just pasted and it had what i had highlighted last night still copied so that works, and i tried the firefox one, it works alot better

The chrome to phone is pretty much just a proof of concept that was written up for I/O.
In Chrome, you can highlight any text in the browser and click the normal Chrome-to-Phone button by the URL. It will open the URL in the browser on the phone, BUT, the text will ALSO be copied to the phone's clipboard. (In Chrome on the desktop, you should see the color of the highlighted text change slightly to indicate that it sent it).
This is confirmed in Chrome 6.0.453.1 dev with Google Chrome to Phone Extension Version 0.3 on Windows.
I would love to find a way that each time I pull the s-pen out it would auto-open an existing memo. Would be great if I could set it up so that it pulled up the same memo so I could create one memo for all my to-dos. This is how most of us do it via paper (one piece with a long list). Any thoughts on how to structure this? Because at the end of the day I then have 30 action memos that I have to move to one document. Thanks for your help!
i use J.Todo which is free and excellent for this.

Why not pin your to-do note to the screen and just keep adding to it with a tap to open? Not exactly auto open, but quickly available for review or additions.

How do i make this open when i pull out stylis ?
I am having a problem with my Note 5 on Verizon and want to see if anyone else is having the same issue. if you pick up the stylus and choose Screen Write, and then switch to another application, there is no way to get back to your annotated screen earlier. Can anyone confirm that this is the case. Samsung support says it works fine.
I can't do it either, not without multi window.

So does anyone know how to fix it? That is kind of a problem particularly when the Note 5 is for taking notes..... Otherwise what is the point??
Scratch that, can't do it with multi window either.
I did it. I opened chrome, pulled out the same s-pen, and started screen write. Then using lmt launcher I opened messages. Using the back button to get out of messages took me back to chrome with the screen write still active.
I think the problem is once the screen is cleared which happens when choosing recents or going to the app drawer, screen write gets cancelled.

No because that requires clearing the screen, which clears screen write.
Just save it in the Gallery. You can open the Gallery and annnotate til your hearts content. The Gallery is Multi View so you can reference other apps at the same time if you want to. I use Screen Write to capture something interesting for business or funny/cute to share with friends. The former I save in folders in Scrapbook and the latter I MMS or e-mail. So for me it's not broken.

If you save it to the galery, and you write and have to switch again, then you still lose the contents. It seems to me more like a bug rather than a feature particularly when that is supposed to be the purpose of using it for annotation.
My plan was to use this for feature for meetings. You are going over the agenda etc. and then you want to take notes on top of an existing document and then save it or share it to Evernote etc.
I use S Note for everything you described. That's what it's designed for. Screen Write is for quickly capturing and annotating something. It's not even a persistent app which is why it goes away when it loses focus. And what difference does it make if you annotate<>save or save <>annotate?
Hey there!
I got my Note 5 a few days after it was launched in my country (about 3 weeks back) it is a great device, battery, performance etc.
However, I realized something was amiss with its smart select feature.
I cannot extract text from the image i selected. I could do this when I was on my note 4 and it was really helpful. If i need to extract address I just smart select the address and there will be a tine T on the selected item and I can copy the text. Now all it does is save it in the gallery.
Did i miss something or did samsung remove this feature?
Next up is, my twitter notification. I am a heavy twitter and I would usually have a special notification tone for this. However, I seemed to fail to set it on a specific tone. It will always go back to the default tone. i've tried several times but failed.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks a bunch everyone!

Well about the twitter notifications, I've had that same issue on my last 4 phones lol. Try to change the notification and it always reverts back to the stock. So it's not a Note 5 issue, it's a twitter issue.

Samsung did remove the text extraction from smart selection, along with the ability to do multiple selections and save as a single scrap book entry, although you could group them later, but what a hassle!
Thanks! For the notification, I can change it to my custom notification on my note 4. therefore i thought it was a note 5 issue. *cries*

Yeah after searching high and low for some sort of explanation, it is true that samsung took it out. WHY OH WHYYYY... instead now i have to use optical reader to do what i did with text extraction... what a hassle indeed.
Hi all,
How do I copy text from the recent apps? This was a highlight feature I'm A11...I'm sure it must be there in A12...any idea how to get this?
When I try to long press the app, it goes into split or pop up mode....no option to select text in recent window appears
Never seen feature to copy text from recent app window... Are you sure?

I think you faced that issue because not all text fields support cut or copy. Maybe you select those fields which are already not supported by that feature, so don't worry, try selecting another text field. I make sure another field is selected and easily copied.
