Unable to Connect to Mobile Network on Any Custom Rom - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Folks
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini - GT-i8190. I have CWM recovery install which is fully functional - However i have a problem
I have installed about 9 custom roms and none of them, not one, will connect to a mobile network - What i have tried thus far:
i have tried three different workjing sim cards -
I have tried a total of nine roms ranging from CM 10 to CM 11, Omni, Carbon, Slimkat and several other variations
All of these roms install perfectly and are fully functional except for connecting to the network
When i use Odin to reflash my Stock Rom Backup - everything works perfectly again - i connect to my mobile server with no issues what so ever
When installing a custom rom i always wipe data - factory reset - and i have also tried formating system and wiping Dalvik cache
I am not an expert but i have customized several phones for family and friends and i have yet to completely brick anything - (came close once but managed to use odin to get out of jail :cyclops
But this one has me completely stumped - it is fully unlocked and will work with any network using stock rom -
Is there anyone who can point me in the direction of a fix for this - or to another rom that may not have this problem - i realize its probable that its not the roms but i havent found any sign that others are having this problem
Much obliged for your assistance folks

You can try flashing a different baseband.

Can't enable wifi after custom kernel

Hi,
I have searched on the forums, and even though and while i found some similarities with other user's problems, no exact match was found.
Heres what happened, after beastmode kernel was released, i decided to try and reflash my inc s, with miui ver. 2.11.30, from the miuiportugal.pt site (it's just the normal miui rom, translated to portuguese).
Did a factory reset, clean cache/dalviks, and formated system, data and boot, flashed the rom, booted, all fine/working.
Afterwards, rebooted to recovery, and cleared cache/dalviks again, and flashed the kernel, and booted the rom. Everything fine, except for wifi - whenever i try to enable it, it just "blinks", shows the orange dot meaning its enable for just half a second, and turns itself off again. If i try to do it by definitions/wlan, it does the same thing, and gives me the message "enabling wifi" greyed out, and doesn't enable. Bluetooth is working without any problems (it seems the two are in the same chip).
Afterwards, i tried a RUU rom, booted, wifi working - flashed kernel, and the problem came back.
Before giving up on the kernel, i saw another Miui rom, based on the one i was flashing at first, with some tweaks, and decided to give it a go. Same procedure as i did for the other two roms, flashed, tested wifi, worked. Flashed kernel, and to my surprise, this time it worked!
I have browsed alot of forum posts, tried solutions to similar problems, but nothing worked. Can anyone confirm if they ever had a similar problem, and if they found a fix for it? I would realy like to have beastmode kernel, and also to have my phone in my mother language (portuguese) - which isnt available on the last miui rom i mentioned.
Heres some info on what im running:
- at first, unlocked it using htcdev website - left it s-on
- s-off using blackrose
- hboot-2.03.0000
- 3831.19.00.19_M radio
- 4ext recovery
- nothing significant comes to mind, any other info that could help?
Much appreciated for any help,
Best regards,
caloides

Problem with GPS in non stock ROMS

Hi togehter,
I bought a Galaxy S3 Mini i8190N from an offer here in germany last month, the phone has a sim net lock. First of all I am experienced with flashing custom roms. But for my issue I never found any available topic.
I had no problem rooting the device and I can also install and run several custom roms, but for non stock roms I never see any satellites in view (GPS Test, GPS status & etc.) Everything else runs fine, WLAN, BT etc.
I tried to change the ntp pool settings to germany / europe, but this doesn't help (Faster fix, also manually system/etc/gps.conf).
In stock roms / custom stock roms GPS is working fine and I get a fast fix, I see a lot of satellites.
What I also tried:
Going back to orignal stock rom. Made a hard factory reset.
I tried flashing with Odin and also with TWRP v2.7.1.0 20140612, but this also does not fix the problem
Before installing non stock rom, I made a factory reset and deleted cache/system/davlik cache, but gps is never working. The symbol is appearing, if a app wants to access GPS and I also changed gps settings to high resolution.
Does anybody else have same problems?
Roms I tested Carbon, Omni, Slimrom, Cyanogenmod (MacLaw), I also tried Omnirom from goldenguy
I can provide more informations, if someone has an idea about it.

Update:
Hi together,
I again started to understand why GPS works fine in roms like R-Mod3 (Cutstom STOCK) and does not work for all kitkat roms >=4.4.2.
Enclosed you find the debug logs of google maps and gps test for omni-4.4.4-20140801-golden-HOMEMADE . In both apps I get errors in debugging. Can someone help me understand the problem here?
I guess it's a driver issue for android versions higher than stock rom.
Have you tried CM10.1?

[Q] Network problems (different Roms)

Yoh guys,
I will tell my problem short and quick:
I was using the Vanir Custom Rom 4.4.2 with normal gapps and was updating it once a week.
One day my connection was gone (wasn't able to make any phone calls, sending sms and
using the mobile data). So I was looking for some information and figured out that Android
4.4.4 was released a few weeks ago. So I tought there was a complication between the
android version I was using and the gapps. So I did a factory, cache and dalvik cache reset,
flashed the new Vanir version and installed the right gapps. But the problem still occured.
What i've tried:
1. Different Sim Cards. Tried another sim for about 30 minutes, no problem there while
I was still using the Vanir rom.
2. Using different Roms with the old sim card, the A.I.C.P. rom for example but the problem
got even worse.
3. Yesterday I installed the Lego Rom with 4.4.4 and using slim gapps 4.4.3, the problem
seems fixed so far. It occured only once today.
4. Just in case to make sure, I tried the Beanstalk Rom with 4.4.4 and the correct gapps for.
Somehow I had better connection with this rom than with the Lego one.
I stick to the Lego Rom now but it runs way smoother than the Beanstalk for me. Also I like
the theme when the play store is black instead of white .
My question now is, did some1 had the same issues? Or even better if some1 has a
resolution for it.
Thx and Regards,
Haven't you clearly stated and figured out that the problem is with your sim card?
No m8,
I can't be sure of that :/ I just found this thread a few min ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2757655&page=4
Everybody's got different ril problems
During your trials you said that using a different sim card didn't give any problems for the time running.
Can't you check that out first since most carriers will change sim for no price?
After that you can try changing ril using flying_bear's tutorial
I have the same issue....I tried FluidRom Omnirom CM, the last Beanstalk...sometime the network doesn't work.

STRANGE!!! Why the Internet Data isn't working?

Hello Guys,
I have been facing a serious problem ever since I updated my Mi3 to latest developer version. My 3g internet isn't working. I have tried all the possible trouble shooting like reinstalling the OS both stable and developer, clearing cache lot of times, reinserted the sim couple of times. I even tried to flash a lower version but it didn't help.
Initially i was on custom LP with extended partition on TWRP recovery and everything was working flawlessly. I reverted back to stock partition and now using CWM recovery with miui 6 developer version.
On the other hand the wifi works perfectly no issues with it. Not sure whether its a bug or i am missing something.
I would highly appreciate if a solution can be found and i can start using my internet data.
Thanks

Phone won't connect to network and custom roms don't work

So I think I messed up my phone.
TL;DR: Messed up phone by removing stock rom, Costume roms don't work except 1 and in that one IMEI is set to zero and I can't connect to any network.
several month ago I had the stock xperia z Lolipop and made a decision to root the device. I unlocked it's bootloader and did the rooting... all as planned. about a month later my phone started acting funny, so I decided to reset it, the problem is I had installed TWRP and as noob in using the app, I accidentally wiped the entire device. I thought I had bricked the thing so I left it aside.
I had been using an older phone as replacement until last week when I thought I'd give the Z another chance. I looked around this forum, found a bunch of stuff, tried a lot of roms and after failing to make 4 roms work (Cyan nougat, Cyan MM, Costumised sony 5.1.1 and a stock one I found here) I managed to find a fifth one that worked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/android-5-1-available-yuga-pabx-t3054304). I always followed the tutorials but I may have done a lot of mistakes... for example I'm not even sure what kernel is and if I needed to change it for any of the roms or if I needed to like wipe the entire system or not before flashing ( I did all the time), and what about rooting? does the system require a previous rooted rom to install new ones? don't we simply format the entire device?.
Now the major problem of the working rom is that my phone can't connect to it's simcard network, the simcard is working since it requires pincode on start and the phone can find the networks by manual search, it simply gives an error "network XXX unavailable". I looked around and saw that my IMEI is set to all zero's in the phone about section. this could be unrelated to the network problem... but I don't have much expertise in these stuff.
So right now it seems like I can't install any other roms (they won't even start up, most get stuck during boot) and the only one I can install doesn't give me network access.
Any Ideas?
