Root LG G Flex (Sprint) (LS995ZVA) - LG G Flex

If you have a Sprint LG G Flex (LS995ZVA)
with the following:
Android Version: 4.4.2
&
Kernel Version: 3.4.0 (Not sure if this matters...)
I did have USB Debugging enabled.
You may be in luck to get root via Stump Root: you will have to brute force but it worked for me, so I am just sharing my luck.
It may not matter but I did have SuperSU before running Stump Root. (It would not work before Stump Root was ran.)
I got this file from this article: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Good luck and enjoy! - please reply below if you can; if it succeeded for you too!

Root Problems

Cant seem to find any possible way to root my G2. I tried Towel root and ioroot25. For the towel root it tells me my device is not supported, fair enough... For the IoRoot however, it goes fine until the reboot part. The command prompt tells me to select an option with my volume/power buttons but all I see is an Android laying on its back with a red exclamation saying "No Command" under it.
I just need some noob friendly help as this is my first android and root attempt.
Heres some info:
-Lg G2 Verizon
-Baseband Version: VS98026A
-4.4.2 android version
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-perf-g95fa932
-im in debug mode
-ethernet mode/option when i connect to my PC
-no lock on screen
-fully charged, ect
I really cant figure out what im doing wrong
You try Stump Root?

Have heard stump root works.
If you want to use ioroot25, you have to be on the 24a firmware. You can always kdz back to 24a, root using ioroot25 (don't flash custom recovery yet), take ota to 26a (root is maintained), then flash custom recovery using freedom tool (this was my work flow and worked perfectly).

:crying: I dont know what half of that means :crying:
Well i tried stump root and my device isnt supported, all it does is ask for me to brute force it.
I'll try njstein's method later on today and see if that works, I just need to figure out exactly what all that meant. Ill look around in the forums for "kdz to 24a...ota to 26a"
Thanks so much for the help, ill report my results later in the day :good:
Update: Wow i wasnt counting on the brute force to work but it did, device is now rooted.
and on a side note, my proxy settings got all messed up after root, i couldnt connect or do anything over wifi and also my adblock+ was messed up. Easily fixed, just fyi for anyone else that might experience that.

? How to SAFELY update to KK? Don't want to bork it.

I don't want to bork my D950. So I'm asking for help.
LG Flex 4.2.2 D950 AT&T rooted using TowelRoot. And TWRP loaded with older version of Freedom Flex.
Big thanks to mattwheat & PlayfulGod for SAFELY getting me to this point.
I have Titanium Backup Pro & have frozen or uninstalled a bunch of stuff. Should have just frozen not uninstalled, my mistake. I am also on an AT&T MVNO & will not receive KK.
I've read & read & read. So my confusions are:
1. since my stock D950 is missing some apps system & otherwise. If I could get D950 KK it would bork because some JB apps are missing?
2. This is silly I don't understand what a TOT file is. It seems to be LG proprietary. I think it's a stock ROM? Not sure. I've looked.
I've downloaded LGD950AT-01-V20b-310-410-MAR-22-2014+0.tot at 3,065,344 KB from https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1sKRcJvBW_fVGtLTW5vclRPbkU/edit?pli=1.
Also downloaded
LGD950AT-01-V20b-310-410-MAR-22-2014+0.zip
LGD950_20131202_LGFLASHv160.dll
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S51MAN312AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.12.3.exe
VC_RedistInstaller.exe (just in case)
I'm smart but my organizational skills suck.
Would some kind soul explain how to get stock KK on my Flex D950 & retain or gain Root.
You need to install the lg mobile drivers. Then start the lg flash tool after putting the modified dll file in folder where you installed the flash tool. Then connect your phone to a USB 2.0 port on your PC. Do the flash. Root with stump root. Install super SU from play. Install trwp from freedom flex. Do a nandroid. Backup the backup to PC.
Read the following to see what I mean I get confused easily.
I am already rooted LG Flex 4.2.2 D950 AT&T rooted using TowelRoot. And TWRP loaded with older version of Freedom Flex. And I have the LG mobile drivers installed.
So what do I do after installing the LG flash tool & putting the modified dll file in folder where I installed the flash tool. To get to get stock KK on my Flex D950 & retain or gain Root. I have rooted JB now.
Thanks.

Sprint Version LS995ZVA rooted

After so many tries of this and/or that I finally rooted The Sprint LS995ZVA.
I'm a newbie but this worked for me
Remember use with caution and I'm not responsible if you brick your phone but i did this three times and it worked. Good luck!!
1) downloaded/installed Su
2)followed instructions on this web site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
When using the above web site it will get stuck at the end and it won't show that it worked , but look at your phone it will say rooted. All you need is the binaries in which stump root provides, I believe.
3) installed "stumproot"
4) installed "freedom flex."
5) used CMW in freedom flex
This worked for me. Hope it works for you.
Thanks to all the people that worked on all the tools above in order to make this work. You guys rock!!!!
Thanks for the guide, was looking for this, will try and report back
Thank you.
I can verify that this worked for me. The only thing with stump root is I had to brute force it. It didn't take more than a minute, I used root checker to verify root, installed freedom flex and put CWM recovery on the phone.
Thank you for the tip.
EDIT: For some strange reason I have now lost root. Anyone know whre can get a stock rcovery to reroot?
If you upgrade from ZV3 to ZVA on stock based without rooting before ZVA all you had to do is use Bruteforce mode (Stumproot) and reboot.
Install supersu, open it, let it update components and reboot and its done.
The root method you linked to is to root LG devices on lollipop 5.0.1-5.0.2
But anyways congrats for informing yourself and solving the problem on your own, ppl should learn to do this often.

Kingo One-Click Root Method WORKS!

***NOTICE***
Not my work. Just sharing the info.
Spent hours using other root methods that failed.
Tested on my LG-LS995. Here is what worked.
Kingo offers the best one-click Android Root software for free, which will deliver you the best result when rooting your LG.Warning: Rooting, on one hand, unleashes the true capability of an Android device; on the other hand, involves certain risks.
So, as to the question "Root Or Not to Root", do not rush your move and think before you act.

Hit "Thanks" if this helped. And thank you in advanced.
Had to Hard Reset my phone and start over with ROOT and UNLOCK. When I was looking AGAIN into the ROOT method, I found this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-flex/general/root-lg-g-flex-t3006070
Stump ROOT worked great on my LS-995 fully updated. And I can finally use SUPERSU and not the Kingo app.

Hola

[AUTORECOVERY] Flashing TWRP > |in 30 seconds|< on your LG G2; VS980 [ALL VARIENTS!]

[AUTORECOVERY] Flashing TWRP > |in 30 seconds|< on your LG G2; VS980 [ALL VARIENTS!]
I just upgraded my cellular device of choice from a LG VOLT (Which WAS the greatest phone i have ever had) until my purchase of a Factory Unlocked LG G2 and Root via the IORoot method worked like a CHARM!
If you need to Root your G2; The IORoot method I used can be found here:
[ROOT] Root your G2 [ATT|VZW|TMO|KT|RGS|BELL|TELUS|OPEN] [Yay!]
AFTER THAT:
I had one hell of a time trying to find a method to install a custom recovery with positive results! Team Win Recovery Project has always been a personal favorite of mine, and i could not get it to work correctly with the normal way of using Flashify; and the next route i tried failed when the specific versions download link of the G2 FREEDOM TOOL my phone requires was dead - (Version 24a). The "Loki" method also wouldnt work for me either. So just when I was about to give up; Low and behold; I found a method that appeared EVEN EASIER then all the above. It is a simple .apk that automatically installs Loki, and flashes TWRP Recovery (v2.7) in about 30 Seconds!
PLEASE NOTE: I just want to share the EASIEST process i have found to install a custom recovery in hopes it could help someone else who encountered the same problems I did.
I of course take NO CREDIT for this method; and I am not responsible for any damage or any voiding of any warranty that doing this to your device could cause! I REPEAT: THIS IS NOT MY WORK! IM JUST PROVIDING A LEAD!
Here you can find the G2 Freedom Tool - TWRP:
[Tool] G2 Freedom Tool vs980 39a TWRP
Here you can find the TWRP via Loki Method:
[GUIDE] INSTALLING TWRP on LGG2 (VZW, AT&T, TMobile, KT, d802, others) [UPDATED]
BUT!!! When if those methods fail you; or you just want to try something as EASY as downloading and Installing an .apk; using a "One Click; No Brick" process called: "AutoRecovery" then GIVE THIS A SHOT!!!
How it works:
NOTE: AutoRec – KitKat Recovery Installer downgrades your phone’s KitKat bootloader to the older replaceable bootloader that allows installing a custom recovery. Replacing any of the partition on your LG G2 might prove risky. Install the app at your own risk!
AutoRec app can install TWRP Recovery version 2.7 on the following models of the LG G2:
Choose the correct .apk file download for your phones new TWRP recovery by selecting which carrier LG G2 you have.
Choose your correct Carriers download link below:
Verizon LG G2: VS980_AutoRec.apk
AT&T LG G2: D800_AutoRec.apk
T-Mobile LG G2: D801_AutoRec.apk
International LG G2: D802_AutoRec.apk
LG G2 D802T: D802T_AutoRec.apk
Sprint LG G2: LS980_AutoRec.apk (some users reported white lines issue after using AutoRec)
Canadian LG G2: D803_AutoRec.apk
Latin American G2 D805: D805_AutoRec.apk
Korean Models:
F320K_AutoRec.apk
F320L_AutoRec.apk
F320S_AutoRec.apk
Just grab the appropriate AutoRec – KitKat Recovery Installer and flash the TWRP recovery right now.
Fixing White Line Issue After Flashing TWRP
If you have used AutoRec on your Sprint LG G2 and facing white lines issue or if you have Korean model F320 and have lost Knock On, here’s a solution for you. Download the patched Kernel file for your LG G2 model from here, copy the KK_Kernel_XXX_jdi.zip to your phone and flash the file in TWRP recovery. If you do not know how to flash files in TWRP, follow Steps 4-7 from this guide.
I am giving credit to the source of: Where I found this: Kevin With Tech
Im not sure if he is the Dev Source or not; IF CREDIT IS DUE ELSEWHERE; PLEASE Let me know! I'm not the kind of guy to try to steal credit for someone else's work, i know how hard it is! I am just here to share a very NICE source of a method that I found which actually HELPED me out a lot; and if It helps even ONE other person like it did for me; then I am happy enough!
Here is his Donation Link:
That's what actually happened to me at one point. Many forum members including myself bought the phone when it first came out, rooted it, installed a recovery, and just kept it as is for a long time. Then there comes a time when one will want to upgrade and if things screw up for one reason or another they have to start fresh.
I was in your spot trying to navigate these forums to find a way to install a recovery. Every possible solution either didn't work out well or the links were dead. Eventually I landed upon the Autorec thread here and it was my final solution as well.
Thank you.
