Dear respected members,
I have tried upgrading my MZ601 to android 4.4.4 carefully following all the instructions since the stock ICS was a bit of lagging in all areas. Without success (having deployed RAH TWRP Bigpart Recovery , wiped everything, format system and cache, flashed omnirom everest 4.4.4, bigpart boot img and corresponding gapps) i opted for cyanogenmod cm10.1 which is jelly bean that I am now using. Again I tried to upgrade to kitkat but this time, after flashing twrp bigpart recovery, there was error in flashing data, cache and dalvik cache. That bricked my device for a moment but I have this Motorola Xoom restore software (which is very potent by the way) and i already made back ups of my previous system, so my xoom is back. Could you shed some light please as to why I cannot wipe dalvik cache, data and cache from twrp bigpart recovery running jelly bean? Thanks in advance!
- Dear all,
Sorry for the inconvenience.. The issue i was presenting has already been solved, which in the first place was my mistake. Again, my apologies.

Hey everybody,
I just started roming my 7310 but so far AOKP B38 is the only ROM I can get to boot. Had some issues with apps uninstalling them self so I wanted to downgrade to a more stable version, most likely Galaxian Soup MileStone 5. I've tried several different ROMs and I always get stuck in a boot loop at the Samsung logo with the exception build 38. Any ideas what my problem might be?
My process is first Odin flash CWM 5.5.0.4 then adb push an updated CWM for the galaxy tabs I downloaded form there forms but have also tried the regular CWM. Then push the ROM and gapp zips, wipe dalvik, factory reset, and then install zip.
Thanks for any help.

Always wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and also wipe dalvik cache in advanced, aaaaand format /system in mounts and storage. All this before flashing any ROM, unless you ODIN. This is how I always do it. Keep in mind Build 39 has its share of issues, so you're better off using an older build in the meantime.
Hello,
Sorry for this noob question but..
Is it safe to flash CM9 from paranoid ROM ?
Yes, they both use the same kernel and have emmc erase command disabled.
Sent from my Paranoid Android GT-N7000. It doesn't get much better than this!
Nothing special needs to be done; backup, flash paranoid wipe data, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache and reboot.
Good day. New member here but long time lurker, can't post on official android development yet.
I've been able to flash terenceng's cm11 on my p1000 with no problems. Today I just saw the official Omnirom nightly builds and I wanted to try them out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634278
When I flashed the rom, on bootup a popup shows up with "unfortunately systemui has stopped working". I can't even use the rom as the status bar is always crashing. For now I reverted to cm11.
Is this just a bug on the nightly build? or did I do something wrong?
Steps done: wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache, flash, reboot.
did you try to format /system as well? Actually you should be doing that each time you flash a ROM.
yup i also wiped system and android secure..
I have SlimRom 4.4.2 Build 4 installed in my Note. I recently received a message saying that Build 5 was available so I downloaded the file and saved it in the SD Card. I want to upgrade to build 5, but have a question on how to do it.
Basically, the question is if I need to do the full wipe/factory reset and wipe cache, etc... and then flash the new rom and gapps, or if I can just wipe cahe, dalvik, etc and then just flash the build 5 rom?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Upgrading is just the matter of booting into recovery and flashing the updated rom.. Just make a nandroid backup before... You can wipe cache and dalvik..no need to data wipe unless you encounter problems.
In this case (without changing rom) dirty flash is perfectly enough.
Btw. There are detailed instruction how to upgrade rom on Slimrom website.
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 with a baseband of I9000ZWJV4 and MIUI software.
I would like to remove the existing MIUI software and do a clean install of the latest Jelly Bean OS.
The more how-to guides I read, the more confused I get.
I would like to know if I do ;
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Advanced > wipe dalvik cache
does this clean my phone of the MIUI software now installed on my phone?
Why does some programming guides say to use a pit file and some do not.
Some guides use PIT, PDA, Phone and CSC files and some do not.
Can I just "Wipe" my phone and install 4.3 Jelly Bean
or do I have to install and upgrade,
2.1 Eclair
2.3 Gingerbread
4.0 ICS
4.3 JellyBean
in that order?
When programming, does the Rom and gapps .zip files go on the phone' sd-card?
I would appreciate it very much if someone would help me install
4.3 Jelly Bean or the latest Jelly Bean on my Galaxy S GT-i9000.
Also what is the most popular Rom for the Galaxy S GT-i9000.
Thank You
No, just install lastest version of official gingerbread, find the cf root compatibile version, then go in recovery wipe data and install your jellybean(except slimbean, its buggy when installing from stock) (when flashing, it will reboot! Dont panic just use vol up+power+home, release when Samsung show up, you will booted in recovery, flash ROM again and reboot) you are done
To install jellybean firmware..
You will need to root the phone first. install cwm recovery, reboot into recovery mode wipe data/factory reset wipe cache wipe dalvik cache format data format data data format cache format system & flash zip files.
Reboot & enjoy...
