Transparent Soft Buttons/Nav Bar - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a way to make the nav bar/soft keys at the bottom of the display transparent everywhere, like it is on the homescreen on GEL
Anyone know of a method for doing this? I'm on the M preview.
I know it's possible with Xposed but I'm looking other ways.

Bump...anyone?

Bump....

It would be really easy to do if you decompile and recompile your systemui.apk but, it will not look like how you think it will look. Your nav bar will end up white or grey, because it will be transparent and behind the navbar will be dead space that is white or grey. All your full screen apps (Except launcher) do not sit behind the navbar.
I think what you actually want is a dynamic navbar that changes colour to match the primary colour of the app you are using, which is much more difficult.
Or... maybe you want an expanded desktop which allows the app to be true full screen, and you swipe up to bring the navbar up transparently over the app. Though this would cut any buttons or text fields off in the app when the navbar is up.

I see what you mean... Damn well that sucks.
Thanks for the reply.

Transparent Notification bar? -metamorph-

Is there any transparent notification bar metamorphs out there?
I think this might be what you are looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768628
If you only want the status bar and not the font and apps and what not, just run the framework-res part. Let me know if you need help. Enjoy.
I did see that but couldnt tell if the notification bar was transparent or not.
Thank you
Yeah i flashed it and its nice and looks great, But i still want something with a completely transparent bar.
Tried that the first run, and it looked great when using LP+ and having the status bar hidden. When you would hit the notification button, it would pop down and you would only see the icons/letters/numbers etc, but otherwise it just shows up as a blank-black area. Something to do with that space is allotted
for the status bar and you don't really get it back, just because it's transparent. There might be a way around it, but not really sure yet. If you wanna try it, this was the first run of Transparent Chaos:

Yeah I've been looking for the same thing for a few weeks. They can't do it on the eris yet though because of something with rosie and it not taking the background all the way up to the top so it would always look black anyway.

I think it's LP+ that doesn't allow the transparency because it just shows black behind the bar. I've heard that it works with ADW Launcher because of an option it has, I haven't tried it though because I prefer LP.
I'm pretty sure that's not it. I just tried it, and got the same results as LP+.

[Q] [Req] hidden Status Bar

Hey all you talented developers,...
as our SAMOLED Displays suffer from degradation of the organic LED when constantly emmiting bright white or blue,
some of us found here the need of a hideable status bar.
I searched all the internet and all of this forum but couldnĀ“t find such an app.
Is there any app or widget possible which can hide or un-hide the status bar?
Or is there any adb code that hide it and onther adb code that un-hides it??
Any help would be highly welcome.
Somehow ist should be possible.... at least we are on android
greetz the bapsack
Edit:
P.S.
1. as far as I know no launcher hides the statusbar permanently
2. even though some (!) apps might support fullscreen the status bar is still there in most apps
Both LauncherPro and Zeam have hideable status bars. See market.
the status bar is only hidden in the launcher
if you open any app e.g. internet or navigation the status bar is back in its place
Try dolphin browser, it has full screen I think

I wonder if adding the notitlebar attribute in the framework manifest would work
No clue though, will try when have time or someone else could
Degradation? I don't think so.
Anu source?
I think the display only suffers from a minor burn-in problem, where the burn in disappears after somewhile.
well take this pic of a blank white screen aas a proof
you can still see the status bar as a shadow

ADW.Launcher has a hidable status bar. You just flick your finger UP, the status bar hides. Flick it UP again, it returns.
PS : I can fit in 5 rows of icons easily.

And it also can hide the dockbar

the aim is to hide the freakin status bar permanently
e.g.: even when navigating, web-browsing or running any other app
This adw.Launcher can NOT do!
Just start any app and zack, back is the statusbar no matter what launcher u use ADW.Launcher, Lauchner.Pro or Zeam
I have status bar burn in, viewable on the screen test blue background.
5 months, low brightness, status bar hidden most of the time using launcher pro.
Pretty sad really

That's not even a Galaxy S hah, and no burn in here with launcher pro 99% of it's life. I'm not sure how this is viewed, but if someone without a status bar is getting the same thing, it's seems a bit irrelevant in general to blame the status bar?
@bapsack
I accidently thanked you for that post hah wanted to quote it, anyways the reason for that is because it's not possible to replace that yet obviously, nothing integrates all the dynamic info it displays. It's required sorry bud!

tell me how to do and I will check
My bet is:
-make your notification bar 0-20% black
-set 50%/50%/20% R/G/B color for notification bar font and make icons with blurred edges in the same color
NO way you will get a burn.
Thnak you MACHETE.

Nav bar

Is there anyway to make the nav bar transparent? Instead of that black bar. Like it is on the home screen. But when you go to a app that Dam black bar.
If it can be done in Lollipop, no one's figured that out yet. Best alternative IMO would be something like pie controls
Yeah I know about pie or swipe. Just wondering about that it would be cool. Pretty sure someone will come up with something thanks.
The problem is apps don't go down to the bottom of the screen due to the Nav bar so if you made it transparent, you'd probably see your home screen wallpaper and that would look naff.

I use expanded desktop and so when I swipe at the bottom they come up transparent.
Never mind I see what your talking about.

Yeah when you use expanded, the app fills down the screen in the gap where the keys would have been. Maybe forcing expanded desktop mode would do more what is being talked about.

Status Bar and Navigation Bar Color Change?

Is there any way to change the colors on these two things? On the Nexus 4 there was PA which brought the ability to change this stuff. I would like to make then constantly black because I think I'm the only one who prefers this kind of look... Is there a way to do that so I don't have to worry about them matching the application?

Use Lolistat xposed module to tint statusbar and navbar and also do use Tinted Recent Pannels xposed module to tint un-tinted recent apps Hope it helps

Change navbar & statusbar DPI

Hi there, I've tried to change the phone's DPI, but there's something weird...navbar, statusbar and shortcuts panel do not change with the rest of the interface! Looks like these elements cannot be modified, even with adb commands.
Has someone tried to do this thing too? Not a big issue, but the shortcuts' panel is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for me.
No one?
I'm interested to know too. The notification bar is ridiculously tiny and there seems no way to resize it so it's easily readable.
I'm now using widgets just so i can see the time and battery power. Using a launcher that shows notifications on the apps on my home screen too.
Never had a problem like this with my pixel 2. Notification bar was legible out of the box
