[q] please help busybox problem - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've accidentally uninstall busybox (don't ask why, long story), now there's no busybox on my z1, but when i'm tring to install busybox using busybox again it always failed, the message "busybox was not sucsess, try to change location to fox the issues". Anyone have the solution for this problem? I'm using xperia Z1 sol23 (japan version), rooted, lockbootloader, no cwm. In my system/ xbin there's some files but no busybox files. I'm tring to copy busybox to xbin but the system wont let me to write in xbin. Help me please... is there any method to install busybox?

I have that problem too in the latest firmware 5.1.1 (prerooted rom). I wonder if everyone who use prerooted 5.1.1 have this busybox bug. I have used some busybox installer from playstore but the installation failed, telling me to change location of busybox installation. In my case i'm sure I didn't removed the busybox. I installed the rom clean and I also flashed the latest supersu successfully.

Hopefully I can repay xda a little here and maybe help you guys out.
I spent all day downgrading to kitkat and then flashing a pre-rooted 5.1.1 ROM.
I have just finished and root seems ok. I tried to use 'busybox installer' and it failed (it wasnt asking for supersu permission).
I tried 'busybox' from the link below and it installed fine.
Hope this helps

EDIT: I'm sure You'd already tried that but I had a problem with busybox installer just minutes before your post, so thought it was worth mentioning what worked for me

[Solved] Galaxy S JVP with Voodoo Lagfix. Can't get root

Hi
I've got a Galaxy S and I've install Gingerbread (2.3.4 JVP) and the voodoo lagfix (stock JVP with hacks (here)).
I've installed Superuser and restarted the phone, but can't get busybox to install, as it says I don't have root.
I can get root in Terminal Emulator and so have tried "busybox --install -s /system/xbin/", but both busybox executables (/bin/busybox and /sdcard/busybox) on my phone say applet not found.
I want to restore my backups from Titanium Backup, but it also says I don't have root and so I can't use it to install busybox.
I know that I can use "am start" to run an app, but is it possible to run an app as root (I tried su and then am start)?
I've searched the forum, but can't find any advise, besides install superuser, restart and update busybox. Could any please help me get root, so I can restore my backups.
Thank you
That kernel is for jvb/jvh! Problem solved! Think he had done one for jvp

Apologies, just noticed that link has jvp too, did you install correct one?
GTi9000 insanitycm010/insaneglitch
Yes my phone shows firmware version 2.3.4 and baseband version I9000XXJVP.
Something I realised, after getting help on the project-voodoo IRC from supercurio, was that I have two su files. One in /system/bin which is 0 bytes and one in /system/xbin which works. This may have been due to superuser wanting to update su and maybe broke it instead. I assume that this would be causing my problems?
I've tried to copy the one from /system/xbin into /system/bin, but the folder is read only. I'll try to find a copy of su to flash (superuser gives me a signed copy, but CWM recovery says that its broken) and see if that will fix the problem.
I decided to reflash and not install superuser from the market place, as the voodoo lagfix includes one (I didn't realise this before), and now everything works fine .
Ah, nice to see you sorted our yourself, its great when people take it on themselves to at least try well done dude

A: 10.3.1.A.0.244 Working Link2SD [ROOT REQUIRED]

AS IS SOLUTION, you are liable for your own device. I'm not responsible for bricked devices.
This is assuming you've rooted .310 rom and upgraded OTA to .244!! This has not been tested on any other progression.
I've owned the phone for 1 week and I found the solution to bootloops on folder mounts.
1. Find this file in the link link below; remountrebootfix-windows.zip - [Click for QR Code] (948.7 KB, 21 views), download it, and extract.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421730
2. Run the appropriate bat file for your root.
3. Install Link2SD.
i tried everything but it says link2sd doesn not have root excess even though i have supersu installed and root excess and also my mobile is rooted according to this procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392865

I'm sorry for your troubles, but as the original post states, [ROOT REQUIRED]. However, I'll share some of my notes with you.
I noticed busybox wasn't installed on my device. You may want to look into it.
When I installed it, it didn't have the required permissions, and I couldn't manual change the permissions in the terminal app (not linked). After running the the correct .bat file, I didn't not have anymore boot loops. In fact, I'm able to load FM(foldermount) & Link2sd without issue. My original post works for me, and I'd thought I'd share. That is all. GL
By this way, foldermount also works too. Thank you
FYI, I found that running both link2sd and FM at boot could cause a mount conflict. Example, my sdext2 wasn't showing up in es manager and it affected my apps.

this is the cmd prompt i get... it doesnt show positive results no matter what and i even gave root permissions to the command. any solutions?
I'm going to ask a ton of Qs that may or may not help you. I know I would want someone to help me out. Please thank if successful and a little more detail too.
1. You rooted .310, and did not upgrade OTA to .244 to obtain root, even after downgrading?
2. You have SuperSU or SuperUser installed on your phone?
3. You intalled busybox?
4. You ran the .bat file with busybox installed?
5. What happened? (reboot or bootloop)
6. You installed Link2SD and followed the universal Link2SD steps? (please find a guide if not)
7. What happened? (reboot or bootloop)
I don't know what "everything" is, so I had to ask and I hope it helps you and or anyone else out.....

ok now im goona explain wt things i did and try to ans all ur questions..
1)i rooted .310 and then flashed .244 except system option and isntalled pre rooted .244 system to get the root permissions
2)i have supersu installed
3)installed busybox and given proper root permissions
4)yes i ran the bat file after busybox installed
5)bootloop
6)yes i followed all the necessary steps for link2sd including partition and setting primary for both and also tried fat32 and ext2 formats but suffers bootloop anyway
i didnt know about the busybox until u asked me the Qs but no use its still bootlooping....im going to try a ota update if available in india (i dont think they have it yet) if not then this process probably would never work for me...if u can please try to do this link2sd procedure after u have root excess using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392865
and please upload a pic of cmd prompt showing successful results...i need to check something
I wouldn't be able to upload the .bat cmd prompt until the weekend at the soonest. But, I did include working screen shots of my firmware and link2sd. I think there's something important in the system only rom file... And that you probably need the OTA for this method to be successful too. There's a permission issue that needs to be resolved and I'm sure it'll work for people that haven't received the OTA. We just don't know the procedure yet.

And FYI; I'd enjoy assisting you further by subjecting my ONLY device to your procedure if I had a spare device to work with, but unfortunately, I don't. And I don't believe anyone would fault me on this...
Sent from my C5502
another crazy thing i tried is that i flashed a global LTE stock rom and rooted it...but no OTA update available...only thing i can do is wait for an official OTA update in india..
There's a screen shot of this file /system/ect/vold.fstab and there's a line missing. If you're able to figure out how to express the missing line, then you may have a shot. I ran into boot loops. The file control the mounting instructions.

Problem installing Xposed since 2.6.1

Hey
I tried to update Xposed FW from 2.60 to 2.61 and when I tried to install the app_process and XposedBridge.jar files via the Framework menu it takes forever and then a notifiation pops up saying I should make sure my phone is rooted and shell commands aren't blocked.
I did nothing to the phone since the last update to 2.60 and every other Xposed update before worked.
I have a rooted Nexus 5 and SUper SU 1.97
Super SU doesn't show a request to approve Xposed rights.
I tried to install an older version of Xposed but that doesnt work.
I cleared the cache of xposed fw and uninstalled, then reinstalled it with several reboots in between. Nothing works.
It keeps saysing xposed is not activated, I should root my phone and that's it.
How can I force SuperSU to ask for root rights for xposed?
Thanks
EDIT: Just saw in the SuperSU log file that it says I need Super SU Pro for Xposed Framework???

Open SuperSU, find "Xposed Installer" and make sure it's set to grant root access. You can also try tapping on "Forget" and you should get asked next time you try to install the framework.

That's just to see a detailed log.

The Problem was SuperSU 1.97.
It seems as the phone will lose root with this version (what would make sense then). In the 1.97 announcement post of Chainfire on Google+ was another comment to version 1.98 which fixes the root loss issue (meanwhile SuperSU is already version 1.99).
Xposed is working again after updating SuperSU.

[Q] Busybox installed but not recognised

Hello, I'm sorry to ask but I checked all 31 posts about busybox in here and even in other phones, and nothing helps.
I've a Moto X with unlocked bootloader, and I installed twrp 2.8.4.0-ghost, installed last SuperSU and busybox from stericson.
I'm running Android 4.4.3 from stock (came that way when I bought it).
Titanium Backup works, it says Root Access Ok and BusyBox 1.19.4 (also have SQLite, i don't know if it's relevant)
With ADB i can access shell and su, but when typing "busybox" it says it doesn't recognise the command.
I'm trying to use a pc software that needs busybox, when connecting the phone it doesn't recognise busybox.
I tried installing busybox manually, using this and this, but at some I always get the error that data/local/busybox is read-only
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks
Try to update Busybox. I'm on 1.23.0 and was on 1.21.x for a long time. I think you are using a very old busybox.

Busybox - Cannot Install

Hi,
I have EVA-L09C432B383 installed, with Root and Super SU has granted the Busybox installer permissions. However every install attempt fails, suggesting trying a different install folder. Hopefully this is a simple fix. Does anyone know why this may be happening?
EDIT: Never mind...flashed zip from recovery instead.
Thank You
