rooted nook hd plus now dead - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my wife's nook hd plus using leapinlar's method everything went fine it was rooted and everything worked like it should but I forgot to back up . The next morning I went into cynaboot recovery and started the backup it was going well but the wife said we needed to leave before it was done so we left it to finish while we left. When we got back was told cat slept on top of nook and now I can't get it to boot , charge , or anything. When I plug it up it goes green orange and then off and the screen never lights up. Don't know what is wrong is this nook completely gone or is there someway I can use sd card to boot and get back to life . Anybody's help would be greatly appreciated

[problem fixed] turns out plug wasn't going in far enough so I took cover off the part that goes in nook and then plugged it up and amber light staying on is charging thank God:laugh:

Thank you for following up with the outcome! I wish more people would do this, just in case someone in the future has the same problem.

Bricked...Will not boot

So I was playing angry birds on my nook color. things froze up, and i powered down. Well...now i cant power it on (screen remains black) and therefore cannot get my reset count to 8 and cannot wipe.
I was on 1.0.0 and used the original autonooter
My micro sd is not in the slot when i attempt to power the device.
any ideas? sorta freakin out here...
Have you tried booting by plugging it into the power adapter?
If it only boots when plugged in you might be able to get someone to dd a nook color image and you can restore from that...
Otherwise im outta ideas, and a return might be the only option.

EDIT: try downloading the nookie froyo and see if it'll boot that off the sd... if so someone might make a bootable sd" installer" froma dd-ed image.
Does the three button (power, vol up, n button) boot go to a black screen as well?
Details on that and other steps you can try to recover can be found at: http://nookdevs.com/Portal:NookColor#Fixing_problems
I hope you get it figured out! I was going to root this weekend, but chickened out after seeing soo many problems on here, and a couple of bricked nooks!
I had the same issue last night.
Do the three-button push to wipe /data/ and you'll be set.
Power adapter was the first thing i tried...didnt do anything
as for the three button push, that didnt work either.
Guys, i think i have a genuine brick here
I've only seen one real brick (which actually could have been fixed, but wasn't worth the trouble), and that was caused by a corrupted boot partition.
I don't have the knowledge to really troubleshoot your problem, but I'd be VERY surprised if yours is actually bricked.
I took it back today. they didnt inspect it and just asked if it was defective. I just said i put it on the charger and when i came back it was unresponsive.

For future reference, I got mine to this state too, and the power adapter is what got me to actually boot. That's actually plugged into an outlet, not USB, by the way.

Rooted nook color not responding

I recently bought a nook color that was already rooted. The google play app was not on so i contacted the seller and he started walking me through the steps to add it. Part of the way through, the nook stopped responding so i shut it down, It now will boot up only to the first screen then shut off and continue this cycle. Im desperate to even get it back to stock, whatever it takes to get it back working. Please help.

You may be in a recovery bootloop. To find out what that is and how to possibly fix it, got to my tips thread linked in my signature. See item A8.

Bricked Nook HD

Hello;
Sorry to bother anyone and thank you for taking the time to create this site. I have a Nook HD "Humming Bird" and recently Installed CM11 on it. The other day the Tablet's battery went completely dead and I was able to get it charging again the next day, Upon turning it on the tablet turned on and just Displayed the Nook logo on the front, I have tried recreating the Bootable SD cards and even reverting it back to stock Roms, the tablet act as tho everything is completing successfully but the I restart it, nothing happens it just stays on the nook screen.
I'm really running out of idea's it was working fine and I have flashed this as well as about 4 or 5 different phone. I have seen other forums stating that I need to revert back to stock recovery, rom and each attempt I haven't been successful phone show it installing it complete's it with no errors but then when I turn it on nothing happens.
The only thing that I have noticed during the flashes is that it says something Offset5124 (I don't know if these are correct) and I think a message pulls up
Installing Boot... Installing Boot... Installing Boot...
Any help would be awesome and thank you very much

[Q] My ovation won't boot.

Okay everyone. I am seriously freaked out right now.
My HD+ was working just fine the other day and today, I try the wake the device and nothing comes up.
Hard reset and nothing came up. Assumed that battery ran out. Plugged it in.
That charge symbol came up and I assumed that it was charging.
But after a while, the device still didn't boot up so I unplugged it and tried to boot it up.
Instead of seeing the Nook logo, I saw a weird artifiact/square thing in the center. Cyanboot didn't even come on.
I really am lost right now. Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance.

Might not be good
If a charged battery does not bring it back to life, your phone might be toast. What you are describing is exactly the behavior I saw when my emmc chip went out on my first Vivid. JTAG would not talk to it either. No repair was possible short of changing the main board.
Hopefully, yours is just a charging issue. Good luck.
On the bright side, it might not have been anything you did. Mine died just as suddenly for no cause at all.
Alright
So I found out that its basically not fixable buuuut thank goodness it was time for an upgrade thanks for the help! long live the vivid! btw to everyone it was not a battery problem I had a spare battery that I tried anyways thanks thanks:highfive:
