my main app page went rouge- where the hell is it? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my main app page disappeared. now when I press the home button I goto this htc connect and share crap
any help on how do I get it back? thank you

any help please?

More info on your phone please. Is it rooted? If yes, what ROM do you have on it?

thanks for the help.
htc m7 stock. not rooted. we have the apps page when you press the grid button in the middle bottom of the screen. that shows all the apps that you can scroll up and down.
I made an app page of my liking by dragging and dropping apps I use often on a page and this first page of apps was my main screen it went to when I unlocked the phone. I dont know what happened but now the 2nd app page is there but the first is gone.
now when I press home button it goes to this htc page that shows the time date weather and says "connect and share with people from all your social networks. tape to start here" and under says "get the latest news that matters to you. tap here to start"
I dont care for this crap htc forces on me.
thank you

I think the launcher glitched, so that may explain this.
And if you don't like the stock launcher, you can always download another on on the Play Store.

Is it just me, but when i search though my list of previously installed apps, it must be over 1000+ and i install one at say half the way down the page, say 500, and then click back it takes me back to the top of the page, and i have to scroll all they way back down again to continue my browsing, and it goes on and on, and i am sick of it.
Please tell me i am doing something wrong.

Did you read my post? Launch the app, once it is launched three little dots will appear at the top or bottom of the screen, these are where you enter any applications settings.

Try a long-press on the screen? Most apps will follow the android guidelines of using the 3 dots to indicate the menu, but others (especially homescreens) will rely on long-presses to declutter the UI.

[Q] How to turn off chrome popup about making page mobile ftiendly

I have recently seen this bottom.page pop up asking to make page mobile friendly. I have the desktop site tab on. How can I stop this from happening?
Shut off the desktop site tab.
I was not clear. I do not want the webpages in mobile form, so I want to that pop-up to be disabled.
Oh you were clear. Shutting off the desktop tab is the only way to eliminate that prompt.

Chrome did not do this until a few days ago. I suppose I could find an older version, but i would miss the updates in other areas.

Agreed, new "feature", could help on image heavy page when only need read text.
I noticed it only appears when at very top of loaded page and disappears when scroll just a few lines. It will reappear if you need/want it by scroll back to top.

Strange as Chrome claimed via Plsy Store to be last updated August 1st. I just flashed a new version of my ROM with an older Chrome, and I do not see the pop-up. Really wish it would be turned off.
Best guess: this is a server-side change on Google's part. This would explain how it could pop up now despite Cbrome not having been updated since August 3rd. It would also explain my receiving the prompt on the astronomy picture of the day site with desktop mode off. APOD doesn't have a mobile version and its pages are dominated by its astronomy photos, so I get prompted.
You can do this to disable it:
- Navigate to chrome://flags
- Search for text "Reader Mode"
- Change the setting of "Reader Mode triggering" to "Never"
Well color me blind. I didn't think Chrome for Android had chrome:// support, which is why I gave the answer I did. I personally got used to that popup, but it's good to know it can be removed, so I did.

Glad to be of some help on my first post to XDA ever. But to be honest, i found the solution on google and this thread at the same time. Don't know if i need to credit the source where i found the info. I'm not a developer and don't know if that is a proper thing to do.
Crediting your sources never hurts.

Question Help: Google discover not working!

Hi there,
I have Galaxy S21 ultra for the past 48 hours I've been getting the error "It looks like there was an error signing into your account" whenever I try to use Google Discover in the Google app or by using the far left home screen. Is this happening for anyone else?
I've tried all the normal troubleshooting methods, but unfortunately all not work.
Waiting for any brilliant thoughts?

I know this sounds like a "did you plug it in" type answer but....go to settings and make sure discover is turned on.

I did this one but does not work!
Same error on main account, works if I switch to another Google account that is on device.
As a temporary solution, I found this trick can solve this issue
The temporary fix seems to be turning off Web & App search history for your account.
1) From the Discover screen, press your account icon in the upper right corner.
2) Select "Search History" from the menu.
3) Turn off "Web & App Activity". Scroll down and select the "Pause" button to confirm.
4) Return to the Discover screen and refresh. You should see your news items again.
You need to download google news from Playstore.

Why? It is not google feed that you can access from the home screen. It is already on my phone.

Hi there Nobrain3000, you are absolutely correct!!!!!!!
I downloaded Google News on my Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, this morning without seeing your post.
Decided to read articles through Google News. (not News & Weather)
Received an email update that lead me to MoMo131's post.
As I opened Google to disable search history, voila, Discover page filled with posts.
Checked and my search history is on.
Did the same on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Discover page filled with posts!!!
The answer is definitely, install "Google News" (not News & Weather) through the Play Store.
Thank you Nobrain3000, such an easy resolution.

I already had google news installed and it did not fix the problem. If I change the account to my secondary account it fills the discover feed but I have never used that account it would have relearn what content I want to see.

Hi Smartymcfly,
Your situation is different because the secondary account receives the discover feed. You could go back an forth to check what is different within each of the Google account's settings (I likely would do this and waste the better part of a day). Then I would delete the secondary account on the phone. Uninstall then reinstall Google News (Not News & Weather), ensure discover is on (yes obvious however worth a check), restart the phone, then read a few articles in Google News before opening Google. Then open Google and see if it works.
Please let me know how you make out, I am curious to see what is blocking your Discover feed. That darn feed is addictive. Something I like to do each morning and really upset my day when I could not use it.
Take care,
Toni

Question Default Launcher Question.

Hi all,
When I swipe right on the home screen it opens some sort of "News" page. Anyone know what app or service I need to kill to stop it? I have de-bloated almost everything using ADB AppControl but must have missed it.
Thanks for the help.
There's a setting to turn off "shelf".
I forget where it's at since i'm using nova launcher.

The "shelf" I believe is the swipe down one. You can turn that off in settings. Swipe left opens a google news page by default; I haven't figured out how to turn it off tbh and have just gotten used to it, hahaha. I'm sure there's an app you can uninstall with adb to nuke it though.

i guess they changed it. the far left page used to be the shelf page.
Lethal injection, it'll stop directly
Just turn off the google application, you can remove the news bar on the left. Another way to turn it off is to go to the main page settings but it only supports the domestic rom
Thank you for the replies.
Now if I can just get this phone to play audio on every notification like it's supposed to.....Otherwise being a first time OnePlus user is great.
