Recently my Z battery began to drain extremely quick even while the screen was off with wifi/mobile data disabled.
In battery usage, Android OS is draining 57~69% of the battery, while Screen is only 2%. (?)
This started to happen when I was on 4.4.4 Stock NCB, flashed into 5.1.1 lollipop, after some hours of usage it started to quickly drain battery again, but this time instead of Android OS, Media process was consuming 60%. The phone is running without microSD.
I already full wiped it and hard reset, using 4.4.2 kiktkat stock now, after some hours of usage again, same ****. Android OS draining the whole battery...
Also calibrated the battery..no results..
Does someone know whats going on? Thanks!

Android System on Z @ 5.11 drains about 15-20% of the battery which is too much. I should reflash the rom and wipe everything but I'm too lazy. It's related to the included packages like MHL, Bravia engine, location, etc. maybe someone will find what component is draining the battery, if I have time I'll compare in detail with the Z3 which uses about 5-6% battery on android system

The thing is, that I'm having this issue for a while now. Battery drains extremely fast both on stock, stock + ext4, cyanogenmod, no matter what. Now I decided to install the stable version of Darky 10.1, but it's just about the same... It's like it drops 2-3% percentages in couple of mins (~10m). I'm using my phone at minimum brightness (btw, display uses 9%! only of the battery), no OC/UV, no animations, only 2g, no wifi, no gps, no account sync, so I'm like really trying to get more...
Okay, and here comes the thing: It used up 70% of the battery in less than 5 hours, and the battery stats looks like this:
Android OS 62%
Android system 10%
Display 9%
Cell standby 5%
Phone idle 2%
Dialer 1%
Dead Rider (just a game..) 1%
In my opinion, everything looks great, but the Android OS. Now what the *** is that, that this crap uses 62% and growing ?! PLease help, thanks!

Hmmm what apps r u using ? how many apps do u have installed ?
Did u buy ur phone used or from new and if u got it from new did u do the over charging for 16 hours or more ?
android OS is a huge problem for battery drain with a few causes and plenty unknown.
to fix it completely will require some skill full people from a closed source.. Download an app such as juice plotter or similar to find out a cause of the battery drain.
there are things you can do such as undervolting for extra battery life.
But the best thing to do is type in Android OS battery drain, in the search bar and have a good read up. i had this mega battery drain a few weeks back but i have it under control now

Charge your phone till it reads 100%, reboot into recovery and I think in Darky's Kernel under advanced you will see wipe battery, do this, boot your phone and let it charge back to 100%, then unplug your phone, let it die to 0 and charge again.....something weird is happening because it shouldn't be that bad....if the above doesn't work and you can rule out apps possibly you have a bad battery?? To rule out apps, wipe everything and do a fresh install of a stock ROM if it still drops then i would say it's a bad battery, but try what I suggested first (wipe battery stats)
The last maps upgrade causes bettery drain....
how to slove this problem?
Hi!
I have the exact same Problem..some say this is a bug in the gingerbread versions and can only be solved by samsung...is this true? Any ideas?
Well, I've had a pretty big read-up on it, and tested it myself, what's more tried out other things too. So I came to a conclusion, that this is absolutely true. It's said to be enough the 'freeze' the apps that cause this problem, but it's just not true. With frozen, they somehow still did it. So here's what I've done, and it looks like solved (far not as good battery life as 2.2.1, but still, at least acceptable...):
- format internal sd card
- removed the suspicious apps (msyncml, syncml, it depends on your rom, the important is, that it has "sync" it its name, and NOT account sync!)(I also removed Samsung account, and everything **** that I didn't need)
I'm having BUJV9 on right now with newest FuguMod and it looks good.
It does not mean Android OS is using 62% of your battery over the time in question .
Its a measure of what has used the power not the power drain on the battery .
Though useful on a heavy drain as your figures show display off OS using a lot but what time span at the top of your figures ..
I would guess from figures posted you have something working away in the background . A factory reset usually cures that problem .
Or find the culprit .
PowerTutor from the market may help .

I was having the Same Problems with Battery Drain. (Dropped 70% in 6 Hrs.)
It is related to 2 Services on Gingerbread.
Software Update & Samsung Account.
Clear Data and Freeze Programs using Titanium Backup and Your Battery should be back to Normal.
Huge drain on battery SGS i9000 android gingerbread v.2.3.3
I did like some other users have done I quess!?!
I upgraded via KIES from earlier version of android. After upgrade I did a reset to factory settings, but didn't set the "Format USB storage".
I installed a few programs and used the phone for a few days. After short time of usage I noticed that the battery drained really fast. Like 20% within 1 hour or so. Normally 20% battery drainage happens in a day with little use.
Then I thought something must have gone wrong with the last upgrade. Many time the tip is to clear the phone again and this time I set the "Format USB storage". It worked. Now the battery drains about 30 percent during a normal day with little use.
Since I have a backup of everything, I just installed the backup so the phone is back to normal again.
I hope this might lead to solving battery drainage issue for other users or at least and idea of what could be wrong.
First of all, I do not trust this solution, but it work to me
Solution is simple, remove your memory card from the phone
That is all
After check, found that the scan media always running to scan the memory card
This might deal to corrupted card
People say backup the data from memory card, format the card, put back the data
I haven't try format the card
But after my phone remove the card, now already 13 hours, I still have 82% and I did few phone call as well
there is an app by the name of battery calibration...follow instruction from within the app and it should solve the problem of android OS drain .. i shifted from darky 10.1 to MIUI 7.7 and 100% to 30% in 3 hours with normal usage and no wifi .. after this app battery lasted for two complete days ... so try it
There is another MORE SERIOUS BUG in ALL GB ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134741
After full charge in GB, phone start using batteries ONLY instead of CHARGER ONLY like in Froyo and lower version builds.
Samsung folks goofed up BIG TIME by making phone use batteries instead of charger after full charge while stopping the charge cycle. Because of this OS thinks its running on CHARGER (or USB POWER) and shows batteries as full charge when in reality it runs on batteries after full charge and will eventually make the phone dead through full discharge of batteries.
You could test this by keeping the phone connected to the charger after full charge for a prolong period. When you disconnect, based on the usage during that time, the batteries will instantly show lower charge than around 100% (could be close to 0% as well depending on usage after full charge if you disconnect charger before phone going dead at 100% drain).
Did you flashed Darky in 100% battery? The tutorial suggest you to do that. You can try to wipe battery in recovery mode.

If your phone is in idle state for a long time, there will be no third party apps running, only android OS, in the background. So, even if you loose 1% battery during the idle state, that will be cause of android OS, that is how it works. So Unless you are getting extremely low battery life, there is nothing to worry.
For example, suppose you left your phone for two hours and it drained 5% battery and Android System drained 80% of it, that means, Android system is 80% responsible for the 5% battery your phone lost, that means 80% of 5%drain=4%drain.
This means, for two hours, to keep your phone in idle state, Android system used 4% of battery. that isn't bad now , is it ?

Since it is a new piece, give it a couple of charge cycles. once it stabilizes it will be good
CAn anyone suggest how to fix battery drain im on fxp Cm 12 02/09 and i turned everthing off and battery on low brightness. Also this happend before on other roms.NEEd a fix please reply fast:crying::crying:
What other ROM's did this happen on? Were they also Lollipop ROM's? I personally experienced this once on CM12, my phone went from 70-ish % to 1% overnight by doing absolutely nothing! My advice is to come back to Lollipop when it is more stable, it's way too buggy right now to be used as a daily driver IMO.
ok
Ok ill try crystalpa 8.50 and will let you know about the battery. Well i dont in the first place why my battery is draining it wsnt draining last week i use to leave my phone overnight. It used to be 100% to 95%.NOw its 100% to 79% which is bull****:crying::crying:

The stock Sony ROM's have the best battery life.
My battery drain faster then Light!
Since 4-months I seeing that my phone battery draining like as faster as saying 123456789.before 4month its worked really fine suddenly what happed i could not understand! My phone battery is 4000mAh at first its worked really fine...But what happen now? yaa i changed the Rom to Lollipop but after saw this problem i came back into kitkat again... My phone model is Walton Primo GM..Hope I will get my solution! Thanks All!
Same here with the battery. I returned to stock 4.3 to see will the problem remains.
i have been using one plus x charger since few days.. battery charges from 14% to 70% in around 30 minutes (with 3g onn!!)
What could be the problem for this? Few days ago i didn't have problems with battery and then suddenly yesterday morning it went to 50%, though i charged it at 100% the night before.
So I have android version 5.1 with the latest CyanogenMod nightly and my battery seems to drain extremely fast. About 5% a minute without the charger and 1-2% every 8-10 minutes with the charger. It over heats extremely fast even when I'm not using it for anything major I've checked my apps to see how much battery % they use I just don't get it I've had the phone for about 5 months and never had this isue . it started yesterday evening I had the viper one ROM installed so I thought that it was causing my issue so I flashed CyanogenMod and still have the same problem. I've tried letting it drain completely then charging it for 10 minutes then holding the volume up down and the power button for 2 minutes and even that didn't help. I just hope it isn't fried. Is there anything I can do or am I just completely 100% out of luck ?

Did you actually check what exact process is draining the battery from the Battery usage option from settings?
i would strongly advise against using the phone in this condition as you will permanently damage the battery(if you haven't already). I noticed a recent increase in battery drain but not as significant. The drain you are talking about is abnormally huge, do you remember flashing anything or installing any app? Generally there is a known issue with Google play services causing huge drain on several lollipop devices.
Try installing Amplifier (xposed module) and disable as much as you can of wakelocks and alarms in the "safe to limit" list.
Try wiping the cache/dalvik cache from the recovery. and/or "fastboot erase cache"
Install GSam Battery Monitor and share some screens
Since update to 4.1.0 - quite heavy battery drain. From 100% to 35% in about 8 hours which is very unusual for me. I usually get 36 hours.
Am seeing in battery usage that says Android OS 11% and Android system at 9%, phone idle 6%
I'm not rooted or bootloader unlocked. Just updates via OTA from 4.0.3
I've tried clearing cache from recovery and cache from phone storage.
Any suggestions or is it factory reset?
Hasn't happened to me since the update. You should at least try with a factory reset before worrying about anything.
Just let it settle for couple of days and check then again.
Don't clear davlik/ART from recovery if suffering from battery drain. Remember on past android versions after doing that or clean flashing? It would spend a lot of time "android is optimising", Nougat now processes this in the background at a lower level of CPU over god knows how long.
So i would just let it settle for a few days and then judge.
Saying that i clean flashed 4.1 over OB3 and recovered my backup and it's not too bad on my side.
Running 4.1 stock with blu_spark.

The best battery life i had was on 4.0.3 with Franco, I had no Android OS or system drain. Somehow managed to get 7 hours and 41 minutes of screen on time. 4.1 has frequent drain of about 4% every hour but if anything its all the things settling down. I will update after few more days.
I have a real problem with WhatsApp and social apps in this release, their consume are huge...
It oddly got better, I'm doing a little worse than 4.0.3 at the moment but i'm sure it will get better! I took off my phone from the charger before going to bed and when i woke up it was at 92% ; I slept for 11 hours. Its rather odd that once i turned off my finger print scanner, I was able to get even better battery life. I managed 6 hours and 52 minutes. Can someone else confirm if the fingerprint scanner plays a role or not?
