I was on the latest Hyperdrive ROM (kitkat) and decided to try out stock Lollipop. So I installed it via ODIN, and then I installed TWRP. Except I installed the Note 4 EDGE TWRP, so now the screen is about half an inch offset in most places. I tried installing the correct TWRP but it made no difference. Same with CWM recovery. This offset happens in both recovery and in Android. I have also tried flashing to stock 4.4.4 kitkat with ODIN. And finally I have restored back to my NANDROID backup of the Hyperdrive ROM, but the problem still persists. I have also tried some display calibration apps but they did nothing.
It appears as if flashing TWRP for Note Edge Tmo has changed a hardware level setting in regards to the screen. However, using the S-Pen is fine (still perfectly accurate).
What should I do? It's annoying having to use the S-Pen for basic things all the time...
I was thinking maybe flashing a PIT file in ODIN would help but I couldn't find one online.
First pit files are no longer pulled from phone. Haven't been since note 3.

I used TWRP to erase everything (system, data, cache, etc) and then used ODIN to flash 4.4.4 N910TUVU1ANK4.tar.md5. (Auto reboot and F. Reset Time were checked, by default).

I agree, it should have worked. But it didn't. So I'm thinking maybe using NAND Erase all in ODIN might help to completely reset the phone, but I heard I shouldn't touch that at all, so I won't until I find out more.
I'm just surprised flashing the wrong TWRP could do this...
Xposed mods: Greenify & Play store link in app info. However I doubt Xposed has anything to do with this issue.

I did that in past and phone never made it back up. Maybe try updating to stock lollipop. Download from Sammy. Not one floating around.

Sorry for bringing back this old post, but have anyone found a solution to this yet? Done exactly the same mistake yesterday with TWRP and now I'm stuck with the Spen to do anything in the phone

Try clearing cache, dalvik cache and finally do a factory reset and see if it is gone.It may be caused by the leftovers in /data partition. It must probably resolve your problem. My advice is (thought ketan said it to me first) after flashing any rom its better to do a factory reset and clear cache. You can do it in recovery
I solved it just after posting this by factory reset, thanks anyway. I knew about cache, i did wipe, but i didn't thought of factory reset (and still don't understand that well).

Factory reset wipes /data partition which contains the apps and its data downloaded from market/internet.It also wipes your settings data and restore every thing to factory default.Just explained this because you said still don't understand that well.Good to hear you solved your issue on your own
Yes, thanks. If i don't want to keep my mobile and return it for refund (i still have few days) and if flash with the firmware it came with it, modified kernel i installed will be replaced by original (it's in the firmware) and so they'll accept it as return, right?
Yes. Just flash your stock Rom via PC Odin, and everything will be back the way it was when you purchased your phone.
Why ODIN desktop and not mobile? Without everoot, cwm and else... Of course!
If u flash any stock ROM via Mobile Odin or CWM, The CWM Recovery will not be flashed and it remains as it is. So you have to flash using PC Odin to get Stock recovery too.

That's exactly why i talked about using mobile instead. But apparently won't flash cwm, can't do it in any way with mobile version? Last thing: As of now, i tried only stock roms. Can i try custom (ICS of course..) installing it by ODIN MOBILE and not wiping (it's just for test), then flash stock later, everything will still be back in its place like original, they won't know i used custom rom, right?

Yes certainly you can try custom roms bruh!! However all the ICS Roms demand everyday high maintenance so IMO installing a GB rom will be a sane option as if now, even if you just want to test that....
If u want a suggestion then go with rocket rom gb v22 my personal favorite however all the other gb roms are stable and can ne used on daily basis.

This can be achieved easily!! You have to Install Chainfire's Repack via Mobile Odin then install "Triangle Away" App to remove yellow Triangle on Start up. Then flash again the stock firmware using PC Odin.
It is confirmed work!!
This was just an skeletal overview for indepth steps please refer to the corresponding threads!!

Thanks for the answer, i already have Odin Mobile and always flashed with it, so no triangle. Chainfire repack, i should install that only if i wanna try ICS, right?

Flashing stock kernal doesnt give triangle in any way.I would suggest you not to use ICS leak rom as many suffered from not able to go back to stock after that.As of now I know only 1 developer has recovered his note after struggling for nearly 10 hours. So stay away from it.I dont know about other ICS roms. But its better to stay with GB now.
if you are planning to return it, then do not try ICS. the leak is not for Note and this caused many users (of Note and Epic 4 touch) issues like a fried flash drive. All the GB custom ROMs are pretty much stable.
I'm about to start. I have "Odin3 v1.85" that's the right one? I already have the KKA firmware md5 file, i put it in phone or pda? What should i put in CSC & other case? And where do i get the right files?

Thanks, that's ok, now concerning the internal memory, 11gb, what should i do? I can't remember/know all the files that were created by me/my apps, also i don't think i can/should delete it all? What do you think?
I am struggling with my Samsung Galaxy Note. My phone over night switched it self off. It wouldnt come back on. I took the battery out and then the sim card. When booting up - I got passed the initial screen of the phone - it went to the samsung logo - now has continued to go back to that screen. I followed advice I have seen on here and pressed the 'on' button, the 'home' button and the 'volume up button'.
It has taken to me to 'Android system recovery' screen. It now has given me 6 options:-
- reboot system now
- apply update from ADB
- apply update from external storage
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- apply update form cache
This is all in blue. Below this in yellow it has:-

I have read the threads in this forum. I am slightly lost at what I have to do now. I have gone onto the Dr Ketan's link - which has refered me to SamMobile website. I am now downloading some firmware from there that is saying it is going to take 2 hours.

Hi there - thanks for the reply. I am not sure how to check what ROM I am on - or even what that is? I bought the phone with contract and have not added anything custom to it.
What is rooted?
Sorry if I sound basic - however, I am not a techi....

Okay, that means you are on stock Sammy ROM. And as you spoke about a contract, is it the international version n7000 or carrier locked version?
Its moot to know if your phone is the international version note GT n7000 ?

You're downloading a new ROM (system). This will wipe all Your phone's data (will leave all the internal and external sdcard files, only apps and their data will be gone). However before flashing it (using ODIN) try to wipe data in the recovery ("Android system recovery", blue text). It will do the same leaving Your current OS. If it doesn't help, flash new ROM (which You have downloaded from sammobile)- use ODIN (find some tutorial for it, if You don't know how to use it). This should help, if it doesn't, the battery may be broken (my friend had such a problem related with battery).
PS. How old is Your battery?

There is a way if it works...
You can try the following:
1. Use Odin to flash a custom recovery- learn from this link here, you will have to do a fair bit of reading though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
and, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
2. Reboot into recovery by using the button combo- Vol Up+Menu+Power
3. Scroll to Backup/Restore
4. Back-up your current Rom to ext SD/internal SD card- I prefer internal sd card
5. Now, after the ROM has been successfully backed-up, the backup will contain a snap shot of your current system with all messages, call logs, contact details, account, etc.
6. Go ahead and flash the new stock Rom that you are downloading at the moment.
7. Refer to point 1 to Root it and install a custom Kernel
8. Now reboot the system and install an app from Playstore called nandroid manager. This will help you extract your personal data from the backed up Rom that we did at point 4/5 above.
9. Once installed, open nandroid manager and you should see your backed up rom under backup tab
10. Click on the backup and it will open a new window where you will get an option to restore data (top left)- click on it
11. From this window, you can restore your call logs and messages, apps and other stuff. Please note that its always advisable to reinstall your apps using the playstore because restoration of app+data sometimes messes up the system.
12. Please note that as you have installed a custom kernel and rooted the device, your warranty stands void. Please understand the implications.
Also, if you do not understand the steps involved as mentioned above, please desist and take your phone to the local authorized service station.
There are alternate ways to try recover data, but the I have stuck to the above method and it has worked fine for me in such cases.
Give it a try, who knows a couple of hours of investment will get you a working phone!!! Best of luck!

Hi thanks for this!! On point 3 - there is no option of back-up/restore??
Please refer to point 1, you will need to flash a custom-recovery and kernel to be able to backup your current rom. This can be done via Odin.
I have provided 2 links (Dr. Ketan's guides) from where you can get a step by step guide, please do read it before you go ahead.

Hello knowledgeable people!
I did a very stupid thing!... I took an official Samsung ROM package .tar.md5, remove the .md5 extension, extracted it, replaced boot.img with a custom kernel boot.img and re-compressed into a .tar package.
Then I took this .tar package and flashed it on the phone with Odin on my PC.
That didn't work, as expected.
The process blocked at one point.
I thought I will then just have to flash the Samsung official ROM to get everything back.
Well... not! I can flash the Samsung official ROM with Odin on my PC, but when the phone starts, it get stucked on bootloop on the glowing samsung logo.
I tried many things, including:
* wipe cache
* wipe data
but nothing worked...
At this point, I think I need to repartition/format everything and start from scratch but I don't know how to do this...
I tried to flash the Partition Identification Table kindly uploaded by @lyriquidperfection, but it didn't work (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591) and it gets stuck in Odin as @narcarsiss mentions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33145970&postcount=2

Why not to flash stock Sammy rom through Odin? This time - not modified?

Yes enter recovery after flashing with Odin.
When u power on hold volume up home key and power all at the same time release them when u see Samsung gt i9305 then wipe cach and wipe the other one. There are 2 wipe options.
Your phone should boot now it takes some time the first time around a minute.
Let me know if it worked
- flash stock Samsung ROM for your country with Odin
- go to recovery wipe the 2 options When u power on hold volume up home key and power all at the same time release them when u see Samsung gt i9305
-phone should boot takes a minute before he goes trough the flashing Samsung screen.

I fear sending S3 to Samsung for repair is the only way, unfortunately... This is what I will do tomorrow (in 10hrs from now) unless a white knight arrives on this thread and gives me the golden solution!
You havent mentioned what rom version you tried.
I guess you used 4.3 official?
I could only guess but ther is probably more then just boot.img containing Knox code.
Knox is hindering users from downgrading bootloader and that maight be your problem now.
You did not mention wich version you try to recover to either.
So if you try with the old 4.1.2 it may be impossible.
Perhaps you need the newest official rom to get it working.

A bit far feched but is it possible your download is broken? Try DL again.
And either it is or not you could try installing 4.3 from different region as yours. Just to try every possability.

Last option. Throw it on a brick wall to release som aggrevation and then you buy a Nexus 5. Problem solved.

I had a brick once, butthe situation was a bit different. I have knox bootloader and tried to downgrade to a 4.1.2 rom without the bootloader package. The flash went ok, but my phone was stucked on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9305 screen. After that, i was quite desperate and tried to reflash stock 4.3 via odin, but it failed :S
Then i tried to flash official Germany's 4.3 again, this time with the ODIN version inside CF-Root package (http://download.chainfire.eu/232/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305.zip?retrieve_file=1), put the cable in another USB port, killed every kies proccess and rebooted phone in dowwnload mode. This time the flash went ok, i rebooted the phone into recovery (got bootloop) and wipe cache and factory reset. After this the phone booted up normally. Hope you can fix your phone

Thanks! Any idea is valuable!
How did you create the ball pack of "4.1.2 rom without the bootloader" - in other words: how did you remove the bootloader from there?

I'd used this tutotial (just the part of commands, added everything that the original ".md5" has, removing just the "sboot.img", i'm not 100% sure if this is the only file to be off the new package, as i said, didnt work for me ), the only difference is that i'm using cygwin instead of linux itself, it worked like a charm
Basically all u need to do is unpack a original .md5 firmware (use winrar or so) and move the files (except sboot.img) to your home directory of linux or, in my case, cygwin (originally C:\cygwin\home\user-name), start the console and type the command bellow, switching the ".imgs" to match yours, of course:
Code:
cd $HOME
tar -H ustar -c image_1 image_2 > your_odin_package.tar
After this you must have a 1Gb+ .tar file (considering you will make a stock samsung flashable), now you will add md5 checksum to that, just to avoid troubles:
Code:
md5sum -t your_odin_package.tar >> your_odin_package.tar
mv your_odin_package.tar your_odin_package.tar.md5
and voilĂ , you have your flashable odin package. Of course you can try making one with just the system.img, boot.img and modem.img. If the phone boots up, do a factory reset. I have no idea if this will work in any occasion having knox bootloader trying to flash official 4.1.x, but you can also try with a samsung 4.3 rom.
In the last scenario, try to CF auto-root your phone, then flash an official CWM recovery via odin using this method i told u, boot into recovery and flash a custom rom, do a factory reset and wiping cache and dalvik cache. I hope one of the options work for you.
I'd recommend trying to flash a custom recovery and then a custom rom. If phone boots up and is functional, try to flash samsung official 4.3 again (if your desire is having the stock of course), not forgeting to factory reset via cwm first to avoid troubles.
Been in maybe like pratically the same situation
1st flash philz touch recovery ( install latest version)
2nd backup ur efs in external sd and copy it to a pc just in case (important if u mess up imei )
3rd Copy and rom in the external sd
4th Wipe data,cache,dilvik
5th In mount and storage Format everything except external sd ( u can backup ur internal sd card with 3rd step)
6th Flash Rom and reboot
7th If no imei then try a newer modem

Notice I only could get to run 4.3 to run after formating everything through philz touch recovery
Okay guys so I just rooted my att note 3 that was completely up to date using the towelroot.com method found here. Stupidly of me I was trying to follow a thread to change my system language in build.prop but after doing that It ONLY boots to recovery / safestrap. After the safestrap screen I tell it to continue to boot normaly and all i get after that is a black screen.
Any ideas? Is it possible to flash safestrap from odin / heimdall / recovery?
Ive tried factory resetting from safestrap and recovery and that didn't change anything.
I not even sure I have safestrap at this point I can get into recovery, and download mode but it sits at the "Samsung Galaxy NOTE 3 [Unlocked Icon] Custom" screen. It wont actually progress to the safestrap.
Before I tried to edit that build.prop the root / safestrap worked fine all day today, restarted several times for different reasons and still worked afterwards.
I had no encryption enabled.
Via recovery -

Possibly? this as a fix?
Would this be okay to use as a stock Kitkat firmware resource for an Odin flash?
Anyone have a N900AUCUCNC2 ROM or firmware I can flash?

i have the .zip files for it and odin 3
*it sounds to me like a bootloop or a softbrick, I would recommend using this odin 3 and flash the stock kk rom the one i have is the unofficial and is pre-rooted. but it works when i bricked mine repeatedly trying roms.

That'd be awesome if you could get that to me some how. I more or less have everything fixed but the wake-up after entering my pattern lock is ungodly slow so I'd like to possibly try a different one.

Hi Peeps, Happy New Years
Don't Worry I read every thread on XDA and no one has a problem as similar as mines and don't know EXACTLY what type of brick I have.
I got this problem with my Galaxy Note (N7000):crying:
It all started when I was running Ultimate Rom v6 and decided to upgrade to kitkat.
I searched around and found that Spirit Rom had quite positive reviews.
So I downloaded the rom and tried to flash but then ended up with status 7 error.
I then found out I was using an outdated version of CWM (I think it was 6.0.3.7)
I then flashed this file by zedomax (http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/recovery/n7000-CWM-KitKatCompatible.zip)
because it had compatible recovery with Kitkat roms and CM 10.2 kernal. Installation went fine and I set up everything.
I then installed lollipop theme (It came with boot animation). Then I rebooted to see how the boot animation looked but to my despair I got stuck at Samsung Boot Logo Screen and couldn't get past it. I couldn't get into recovery, only downloading mode. So then I flashed stock JB rom with PC (Odin). The flashing was successful but I'm still stuck at Logo screen.
Also I would like to also mention that the phone was NEVER on ICS. It was on stock GB 2.3.6, then rooted and flashed Ultimate Rom V6.
Any help would be appreciated :highfive::victory:

@AndroidSlave
Calm down dude!
I read the thread properly.......
Unfortunately something went wrong and I'm asking for help (I really don't even know how I messed it up).......
Do you have a problem with that?
I have experience with rooting and custom roms and have never came across something like this.....

If the last thing you did was flash 4.1.2 via PC Odin then flash the correaponsing philz kernel in PC Odin, boot to recovery, and do a factory reset. If you don't want stock TW, then do the above, and then follow the guide on how to flash a KitKat ROM. I feel your error may involve not doing proper wipes, including preload.

Thanks Dude , You helped think of of something
BTW I fixed it
Maybe my recovery was corrupted or something...... So I was browsing around sticky threads an somehow reasoned it out to flash a prerooted + cwm rom through odin.
This is what I did:
1. Download this http://d-h.st/HJM
2. Flash with PC Odin (Add via PDA button and make sure ONLY Auto reboot is checked)
3. Wait till completed
4. When completed you will still get stuck then....
5. Boot into recovery (Which will now be CWM)
6. Do a factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache
7. Reboot
8. Give the logo screen a minute or two
9. Then I get directly to welcome screen.
10. Done
One more thing is do you know what was the cause of this? It's really interesting to know...........
Yeah improper wipes or flashing the wrong kernel for the wrong rom
