There have been a lot of theories about the Bluetooth issues (and sometimes WIFI too) on the ZR. I've been scratching my head about it for a long time, and after breaking my screen (for the second time!) recently I decided to completely disassemble my ZR to solve the mystery once and for all.
I found after numerous trial and error testing that the problem is with the Qualcomm WCN3660 chip which handles the Bluetooth and WIFI (obvious, right?). The chip is soldered using a BGA (ball grid array) and some of the contact points had become disconnected from the mainboard.
To fix it I had to reflow the solder under the chip to reconnect any of the disconnected contacts. I did this using a hot air rework station with some high quality flux (amtech).
My Bluetooth has been running solidly for days now, when previously it would die after minutes/hours after applying the pressure fix (which indecently just puts pressure on the chip/flexes the mainboard to reconnect the broken contacts momentarily).

Xperia ZR wifi works only on heating and pressure
Xperia ZR C5502 (purchased in India, but using in colder country where temp are very low)
Android version 5.1.1
Build 10.7.A.0.222.
My phone wifi shows signal, but connects only when given heat (eg. by hairdryer) CPU temp > 60c. Wifi dissconnects if the phone gets cold <60c. Sometimes, apart from heating, I need to press near the rear camera. Bluetooth is working.
Tried factory reseting, downgrading to Jellybean, Kitkat and flashing with Marshmellow/Nougat custom ROMs like Cyanogen or AOSP. Wifi works for few minutes on new install, then again same problem.
Is this hardware or CPU temp problem?
Service center technician says, motherboard is gone. I've tested and found that wifi gets connected only when I press over the marked area in the pic. What is that component, earphone jack? Will wifi work if I get that part replaced?
Xperia ZR wifi issue is giving me nightmares. For now, it seems, phone is connecting only to 5Ghz wifi network. I bought a 5 Ghz router and my Xperia ZR wifi is working fine.

Same issue for me, the phone connected to 5GHz networks only.
At first it worked great, but after some time it started to disconnect from network every hour, then it become more frequently and in the end I couldn't even turn on WiFi and phone hanged and restarted itself when I tryed to turn on/off wifi. And bluetooth is not working also.

Try change security options on router to WPA or WEP...
Try restart your router...
review whether you have wifi modem allows connection yet?
Similar Problem
I have a Galaxy S GT-I9000 running Darky's ROM 10.2 EE also.
Whilst at home I can connect Wi-Fi to my home router and whilst using the internet the Notification Bar icon turns from Grey to Green as I use the internet.
On the train yesterday I connected to the free Wi-Fi, phone showed me as connected but the icons remained grey and I could not use the internet.
I have checked all my settings several times without finding the problem.
Truly annoying and I am NOT flashing again!
If I find Darky's ROM is the problem then I will change to another ROM or go back to Stock and stay well away from Darky's ROM.
I have similar problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846850
i will post solution there after i find it.
If anyone has a solution already, please share it.
So, I've been working in an area where the signal is very unstable.
Every once in a while the signal disappears, no network connection at all, fails if i try to manually pick a network.
That's happened in the past with other android phones, but usually setting Airplane mode off and then on would fix it.
With this phone the only way to get the network back is rebooting the phone. I must have rebooted it like 5 times today.
Has this happened to anyone else? I was hoping JB would fix it but it didn't.

Hi there,
I´m in an low signal situation too, at work in the office. The razr i is the first phone with very stable and good signal, compared to Galaxy S, S2, HTC One S and Galaxy Nexus. If I loose signal while walking, it is restored very fast as soon as I am closer to a window. So I think something is wrong with your device.
It happened again a few minutes ago:

yes that hapen mee to. only solution reboot
Have you tried turning it off and on again Just kidding, you can try to do a factory reset from the recovery, maybe it helps. If not, I would try to get a new device, because this behavior is not ok.
What happens if you go outside or in an area where the signal is good? Do you get signal without rebooting?
Btw, with -71dB you should have a really good signal. At my workplace I have about -90dB with full bars and edge.
It's weird 'cause it's not actually low signal. Sometimes I have full bars but no internet, so it just keeps switching between E, H and H+. This happened with my iPhone in the same area. ****ty network.
If I stay at home where the network is usually ok I don't get this bug. Never happens at home.

Hi guys, I replaced my rear camera and the loudspeaker on my OnePlus 3T an they works well.
The problem is that now WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS don't work (no networks are detected).
I noticed that if I'm really close (1meter) the access point network is detected and I'm also able to connect but with very poor signal strength. The same with bluetooth (10cm). Also GPS does not acquire position.
I think the problem is related to the antenna. I opened my OP3T different times to check if something is wrong but I couldn't be able to figure out what is the problem.
Did someone face this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys, I tested GPS and it works. So the problem is related to WiFi and Bluetooth. Does someone know what are the pins in the mainboard that connect WiFi circuits to antenna? Without back cover with integrated antenna, should the WiFi normally find some networks? Thanks.
If you can post a Picture of the board, maybe someone can help...

I think it could be a missing resistor.
This one is a mainboard image taken from the web:
If you look at the image it seems that in that position there's a small black resistor.
What do you think? Is that area the one related to wifi circuit (and antenna)? Thanks.
Hi,
I am facing the exact same problem with my OP3 (no WIFI, no bluetooth, GPS working fine) after changing the battery. I precisely compared my phone with the picture you took on internet and I do have exactly the same configuration (I have the small black resistor).
I don't think the issue comes from it.
Does anyone have an idea about what's going on ?
Thanks
Hi !
Did some researches on the subject and found useful info :
- The BT/WIFI chipset is located on the top right of the phone, but under the metallic protection.
- The BT/WIFI antenna is located on top left of the back cover. I guess the connection between the antenna and this chipset is broken somewhere
I'm sorry I didn't provide any image, the forum doesn't let me post images since I am new here
It would be interesting to understand if without back cover normally wifi works (obviously without a strength signal).
Because this way we could figure out if the problem is related to the antenna placed on the back cover (or to the pins that connect it to motherboard) or is related to the motherboard itself.
Thanks guys.
I have this same problem, I tried to pick up pins on motherboard, but it doesn't change anything. Probably something is wrong with back cover.
Has someone found a solution for the issue? I noticed even my phone's hotspot has a weak signal similar to wifi and bluetooth. I'm using my OP3 without wifi or bluetooth for almost 4months now.. Any help is appreciated
Im having the exact same issue after replacing a motherboard, did anyone find the cause?
Hi,
I am having issues with my WIFI and BT signal too. My WIFI signal is ok up to 1 meter and my BT signal up to 30 cm.
Today, after opening my OP3 i've notice something in the back cover. Apparently something was broken. I closely looked at it and noticed it was whiteish some kind of resistor on the top right corner of the motherboard. It was broken and missing from its place.
With me this is probably the thing that is causing the problem.
Just for curiosity purpose, I've opened my OP3 once again and removed the antenna cable. It turned out with or without it it does not make any difference for the signal strength.
Hi,
Do we have any resolution on this issue?
Hello guys, i hope you can help me with my problem.
i had an accident and my screen of the mi9 got broken, after i replaced it i checked my settings and could not enabled Wifi or BT, it just freeze the site for 10-15 sec and after that its still disabled.
i opened it after that again checked all the cables and other connections but still no luck. Is it possible that the modules got broken? Can i replace them somehow?
Thx

probabily the ribbon for the wifi and bt antenna isn't connected.
you cant enable it via shortcuts in quick toggle or in settings or you cant find anything related to wifi or bluetooth?!
if you cant enable it via toggle maybe you need to factory reset the phone (i dont think is needed but is better to do that to despite major issues). if after factory reset the same issue presist then you can check the inside the phone and see if the ribbon is contected but, i doubt is that the problem tho.

if i try to toogle on it just disable it after 10 sec.
reseted the phone same problem, its like it cant find the module to enable it
i unplugged that both cables, one by one and still could not find out which one is for Wifi/BT

so, if the toggle turns off by itself most common issue is the software, so...try use MiFlash Tool and flash latest build for your phone...and after that make a factory reset again. that should fix it...
there is a service menu *#*#64663#*#* for the mi9 where you can test the WiFi and Bluetooth hardware and see if they are seen by the phone and working. If they work is a os problem if they don't is hardware
he is failing while Opening Bluetooth device or Wifi device, can wait hours and nothing happens
So it sounds like a hardware problem...you can try a reset as it was mention be other users but if that not works then is definitely hardware
Hello there!
I have a Xiaomi Redmi 4x device and a few days ago the WiFi started to act up.
I decided to take a look at the logs and this is what I've found:
pastebin.com/w6VXqCWA
I use HAVOC OS 3.0 Android 10 (Q)
The device seems to work in very close proximity of the router but as soon as I move, the connection drops.
(I tried to re-flash the stock ROM and other ROMs, but the problem won't go away)
Thanks in advance, have a great day!
My known someone gave me his 4x to troubleshoot same problem.
I also using same phone too.
At first I have exchanged all hardware between two devices to find its a hardware issue or not (noob)
After that I put back all module to respected phone.
I really don't know what happened... the wifi issues gone!! ?

Do you have any pictures, I wouldn't want to break my phone by messing up with the hardware when opening it up?
have you tried connecting to different wifi network?
while writing this comment latest havoc os build is 3.3 20200401, please try this build and see if you face this issue?
also see if other device connects to wifi correctly or not?
try turning off router for few seconds and start again and check if it works?

Hello thank you for your tips but I have tried complete wifi reboot, changing of wifi channel, connecting to a different network (same issue), others devices work fine; I tried multiple ROMs including stock firmware.
I'm starting to think the hardware is failing.

Currently I dont have any picture captured that time. But if you need, I can reopen my handset to share picture with you. you can also google to find motherboard picture of 4x.
I found a new perspective of the WiFi log but I don't quite make anything of it.
