Note 5 Keyboard Case? - Galaxy Note5 Accessories

So one of the main reasons ive bought the note 5 is because i saw the keyboard case! i personaly miss having a phisical keybaord (even if its just a overlay) but i cant seem to find it at any store! amazon/samsung best buy none have them listed anywhere and i cant seem to find anymore information about it altho it is still on Sammys page for the Note5. this did pop up today on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/252096526715?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82 but i dont trust it because i cant find it anywhere else. anyone else have one or seen one before?

I want to try this case too and I am patiently waiting for it to show up in best buy so I can decide if I'm buying a note 5 or not.
Someone had posted it was available for pre order somewhere in Europe a couple of weeks ago. Then last week I saw them on eBay. I have a feeling that the eBay ones are coming from overseas.
Someone in the q & a forum has one and was asking a question about different languages on the on screen keyboard or something.
They're the only one here that I've seen so far that actually has the case.

On Samsung global website I saw that they are making a keyboard case for Note 5. But they are not selling yet.

There are tons on ebay. No real risk as ebay will get your money back is false.

Sounds like the case is 80$, and it sucks.

Even if you did want to buy this, would you really be willing to pay 50$+ for a cheap piece of plastic that just covers the screen and presses the touch screen for you(Yes thats what it does, it doesn't actually connect to the phone in any technical way, it just presses the keypad on the touch screen)
Anyways if you are truly interested, it sounds like it'll be released sometime this quarter.....My assumption is it was bad enough that they had to delay the release just to try and get a workable version of some form.

M that's not what it does it must have some type of technology involve because the entire screen shifts up it was what you say the display will remain the same and just be covered by the keyboard.. And the actual keyabord is hard at the back so its definitely not pressing the screen. I'm not sure where you got that info..
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk

The keyboard part of the case clips on the front of the phone when you use it. It shifts the screen up because it brings up the touchscreen keyboard behind it. You can unsnap it from the front and snap it to the back to store it when you want the phone full screen but the keyboard cannot be used when it's clipped on the back side of the case. It's only for "storage".

I just tried this keyboard and if you are using a customized keyboard, you will have a tough time with this.
http://smartphonepedia.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5-keyboard-case-blue-sapphire.html
I also noticed a bit of a lag on the keyboard with this...

Sorry guys i been away from the internet for about a week! super busy with work and forgot to check back in here. @tarunscool yeah i figured you'd have to use the stock keyboard to make it work right. @BKayrac ive seen the reviews mmain thing ive seen is that they all end up quoting the same person and it docent seem like theirs to many true reviews about it. i bought a $800 dollar phone because of that darn case 80 bucks yeah is expensive but if i can type better on it itll be worth it, even if its not a good case the phone is still really awesome and well worth the money.

that was my impression of what the case does. have you seen one in person? it could have a NFC chip in it or a magnet so when its clipped to the front it adjust's the screen just like the flip covers do.

I'll use the google swipe keyboard. Nice and simple. Not an over-abundance of on screen buttons to deal with. Fastest input method besides maybe voice. No need to spend $80

Not a fan of that keyboard case, it does not look very comfortable to type on. I'm going to be trying out the blackberry priv when it comes out if it's available on the jump program as blackberry makes the best keyboards.

Look at this from the Samsung Web Site - not available yet but coming soon: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EJ-CN920UBEGUS

see my topic in the same section ... basically has a big lag on it . making it unusable . got mine via amazon . WASwas shipped from HK . its genuine

I clicked that Samsung link and it's listed and available and... 59.99! That's better than 80!
Wonder if they're worried about performance...

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Vi...g+Motor&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 you can buy one that looks identical to the nexus one it should work. I doubt HTC makes their own motors so I think you have a pretty safe bet if you go with one that looks like it. I looked at a few and this one looks just like it http://cgi.ebay.com/Pager-and-Cell-...697?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4158239ef1

To me they look really similar why don't you ask this ebay seller http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Nexus-One-W...0561840998?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item43a6d5d766 he's selling his Broken Nexus with water damage I'm sure if you offer 10 bucks with shipping he might sell the motor to you. In one of the pictures you can tell he already open the bottom part trying to fix it.
I'm sorry to necro this thread.
I'm just confirming my success replacing my faulty vibrating motor with the ebay part from this thread. It's not exactly identical: the rotating metal piece is a bit smaller than the original and the exact shape of the plastic is different, but it fits perfectly, and the vibration feels solid, even though it vibrates differently, it's better that a failing motor.

It's hard to describe.
Considering that my old motor vibrated like a sledgehammer on crack, this one does feel "weaker"
the new motor feels "sharper", something like if the vibration came from behind the screen, instead of from the surface.
It's really hard to describe it, but overall, even though it feels different, I'm very happy with it since it's now usable.

Its made of plastic, not from aluminium, as they whrite on ebay, but thats a good thing, bcoz plastic will not scrash your device.

On the same page as that keyboard in the what other people did section is the same keyboard (look for exact) for 11 less if you have Prime and use the free shipping option (21.95 vs. 29.75 + 2.95 shipping)
If I felt I had any need for a keyboard I'd get one for 22. Or if I hadn't already spent 10 on a case figuring I might not use it often but it'd be handy occasionally.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2
BestDealUSA on Amazon has it for $19.06 plus 50 cents shipping in the US. Figured it'd take a month coming from China but it shipped on the second day from NJ.
I don't think this one has the magnet. The screen doesn't shut off, even when it's closed.
Can someone please confirm that the auto capitalize, punctuation, and word correction and prediction do NOT work with this keyboard on a N7?
The video in the op does seem to show capitalizing the first word and word prediction.
I have been through all my input settings and the section for external device has all those settings ticked but nothing seems to work. I've tested typing in gmail, evernote and chrome, but it just stays as lower case (unless caps is selected) and words dont get corrected or any suggestions.

Perhaps completely spurious but on another device I had (TF101) how an external keyboard worked changed depending on which soft keyboard (or should I say on screen) was chosen. You needed to have the Asus keyboard chosen to get those features to work properly. Perhaps the Nexus is the same way and needs the default keyboard as the input device to get those features. I know the latest SwiftKey keyboard has a preference for dealing with what to do when an external keyboard is attached which makes me feel that there's some sort of voodoo involved when using an external keyboard.

I could swear there have been a couple of times when I've paired the tablet to the keyboard I've seen a very brief message that says something to the affect of "to enable (those things your mentioned above) press... {?} key combination", but before I can focus on the message it disappears.
It looks pretty cool, I think I'll get one. For that price it's a steal, and it will be great for taking notes in classes and meetings.
is this cramped like a netbook. and are the keys located as on a regular keyboard. The usb keyboard I bought for my nexus had keys on weird places.

Small netbooks have 8 or 9 inch screens and I've only seen 10" ones the last year or so. They'd all have bigger keyboards than something the size of the Nexus 7. The Nexus is about 1.25" less in width compared to just the keyboard on my 9" Dell hackintosh.

My idea for that would be to integrate a sleek kickstand on the back of the case.
Currently I would say that the back plate would have to integrate some sort of kickstand. I think this wouldnt be too hard to do. Also, if you lay your Note 2 across your keyboard to see just how many keys would fit on this, you would notice that it isnt too far off from a cramped up netbook-style keyboard. I think it would be usable for most people.
I want a cover that has a cutout for the back camera so it wouldn't be awkward to take a picture.

I would just let the cover hang down when taking a pic. Honestly I think that the huge hole in the cover would defeat the purpose of having the keyboard there in the first place. It just wouldnt work. And that hole would look straight up stupid when the cover would be closed. Idk .

Love XDA. Fresh ideas every day.
I like it!
there are some bluetooth keyboards that you could hack up to make a mockup..
Honest questions: does MS have a pending patent for this design? If so, would it affect the development?
I'd support that, but depending on how long development would be. Lots of Kickstarter projects take forever to start shipping. I might be on the Note 3 by then...
I'd prefer a slide out KB case. How much would this cost? If it's like $100 no thanks

Great idea. Great mock-up. Spread ther word
I'd buy it although I haven't used a "querty" for over 2 years.
I would probably look really close at buying it if it were on the shelf right now. I think it is a terrible idea from a financial perspective. You have to look at how many of these phones are out there and what percent of people would buy. Like the other poster stated, we will be on a newer generation phone by the time this comes out.
You are also screwing yourself because all this money and time goes into one particular item for only one model of phone. Don't waste your time or money. Try to find something universal that many different phone owners can use.
THE problems with this.
1) The vast majority of users are perfectly happy typing on their screen.
2) Obviously, since it is so small, the idea of "touch" typing is out. It will still be hunt and peck.
3) If this is laying flat on your desk as you type, what is to keep it from sliding all over the place every time you hit the keypad? The Note II doesn't weigh enough to keep it in place.
4) Flip cases are already expensive. One with a kickstand and keyboard will be prohibitively so. Does the user receive enough additional benefit to justify the additional cost?
5) M$ spent a lot of money creating their flip cover keyboard. You would probably run into patent infringement left and right.
I think this would be one of those products that looks cool which no one buys - or at least not in the volume necessary. Think about it this way. Cases have been around for a long time manufactured by companies always looking for ways to make money. Since no one has tried anything like this you have to ask yourself why not? Probably because they determined they could not make any money.
Cool idea, won't work. You are trying to turn a handheld device into a desktop device. The ergonomics are all wrong.
Hi. For sure this is not a new idea (Surface) but it looks interesting. However the biggest issue is the size of the keyboard. It is too small in order to use it like a small Surface.
Looking good. I will consider to buy it.
it's a solid idea. Obviously, from a business standpoint, I"m like others and question how well it sell for various price points versus the cost.
The other issue I see, the cover lends itself to a landscape mode on the phone only. As one who uses a BT keyboard with the phone at times, not all apps are landscape friendly. I have Freedom Pro portable blue tooth keyboard; supports both HID and PTP formats.
Plus given the same of the cover, it may not be that user friendly for regular typing. The keyboard to type on would be about the size a chatpad used on controllers for video game consoles. Unfortunately, their size of my thumb typing friendly versus ten finger typing (what an awkward way to stated that).
I do agree there is a market for something that is compact, extremely portable, for phablets to type on. There is a reason way the Surface has it, there are quite a few for iPad and other tablets. Personally, I don't really like using virtual keyboards; I hold great disdain to autocorrect. II may be more old school since I've been using full keyboards for around thirty years, so it's basically ingrained into me the correct feel.
It's possible a slide out keyboard may be a better option in this situation. The bad part, added bulk. Not everyone is like me and doesn't care how think of phone gets. The plus side, if designed right, no need for a flat surface around, thus can use while just out an about, say at a bus stop. Then again, it could be redundant with the size of the phone which also influences it's own virtual keyboard.

I love the Windows keyboard (see windows key at the top left corner). If you do go Kickstarter, I would change that to an Android symbol. I agree about possible litigation. I would check make sure MS or something get a patent on a cover keyboard. If they did, you could still do it, just need to work out the royalty with them that makes sense for you to be profitable.

Manufacture defect in our screens? Internal Dip?

The day i got my Galaxy S4 i went straight to charge the device. I left it on my nightstand which is under a window and when i saw the reflection of my blinds through the screen, they where bent out of shape and the reflection looked distorted. Looking closer, the screen seems to have a circular dip in the middle left-ish area. All the devices I tested this do not have a distort. (iphone 5 and 4S, the SIII)
I'd like for everyone to look at there device and make sure they don't have this also. I cant check the devices over at carrier stores, abit busy sadly...
I've given a Sample of lines that u can use as a test and also left a quick video, ill try to make a better one but its all i could at this moment. Also its extremely hard to get it on a video vs what u see in person =/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ej5VCPnKls
Best way's too test are as follows.
1) place your phone right in front of you on your computer desk and look at your Monitors reflection. It works extremely well when you look at Lines or a lot of text.
2) Look at a bunch of stuff that's well lit.

yeah the screen works and looks fine. But im just worried still. ill be visiting Bestbuy and a sprint store Tuesday see if its a universal thing. If it isnt, could save some people in there 14day return time-span. Especially after seeing this thread you never know.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271880
better safe then sorry.

Man, I have exactly the same problem and the easiest way for me to see it is to have a reflection of a fluorescent tube on the black screen. It's ugly! This doesn't seem to be a universal thing, though, because this is the first post I have come across since I found out about the distortion problem. Did you find out anything at Bestbuy?

I got them to open up two new boxes and it seems like every device has it.

Wow. I cant believe what I saw after inspecting my phone. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! I love this phone

My first galaxy s4 had dead pixels, my second galaxy s4 had scuffing all over it, a large scratch on the MICRO sd card port, overheated and would constantly shut off, followed by the display that completely died a day later. Sprint advised me to give the HTC one a shot. As soon as I got the HTC one home, noticed paint run off, gaps between panels, dings, dents, pretty much the poorest quality control standards I have ever seen. Now I have to find away to get sprint to allow a FOURTH return on a 600.00 device. I may have to get mean, I dont like to act that way, but what sprint has put me through to obtain a working 600.00 high end device is not acceptable, I would not wish the experience I am going through on my worse enemy.
Im not picky, and I understand mistakes when they happen. But two damaged/defective S4's, and one damaged/defective HTC one in matter of 7 days? I really cant even believe it.
All I buy is Samsung products when it comes to electronics, never in my life have I EVER received two defective units in a row. I feel like a crazy crack addict every time I go back to the sprint store and request a replacement. If sprint didn't have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee, I would be out 600.00, because there is no way in a million years samsung or HTC would take responsibility for scuffing or damage to the body of the device. Even with sprints 14 day satisfaction guarantee, you are only allowed 1 device exchange. So basically, im entitled to nothing with this issue, and any day sprint is going to show me the door or refer me to Asurion for a 3 day old 600 dollar phone.

Note8 Keyboard Cover

Anyone know if Samsung will bring the keyboard cover to North America?
It's on the global site - but no info:
http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-note8/accessories/
It's on the Korean site for sale though:

Man alive, I've been looking high and dry for this. No idea why it's not for sale yet in the States. Been wanting this case as much as the Note8 itself.
Ditto. I've had this for my last 2 Sammys (Note7, S8) and will buy this the second it is available. Great case and the keyboard is nice to use on the train.
You can get this right now for $70 on ebay (there's exactly 1 listing of it), but it's a korean model with dual kr/en labeling on the keys.
I wonder if this would "clip on" to other 3rd party cases (i.e. UAG, Spigen, etc..
That is very cool. I've never been good at typing on virtual keyboards. This would be great to have.

I ordered one thanks for the tip. Should realize not to limit myself to Amazon. I did Google it but ebay listing didn't come up. I saw two listings both had English keyboard one said in the description dual English /Korean. I'll keep everyone posted.

I ordered and asked them about Korean. They sent a picture and yes it does have English/Korean. I'd rather not have the English shrunk to accommodate the Korean which is useless for me however it seems to me that it's not coming out here in the USA. I wasn't following the s8 when it came out, was the keyboard case released with it amongst its accessories or did it come later?
Is the keyboard cover heavy? And will it scratch the bottom of the phone a lot?
Looks interesting. Was a huge fan of the hardware keyboard on the HP Pre3.
About this Note 8 keyboard, does it work well if you have put on a tempered glass screen protector?
Also, are you forced to use the case that comes with it, or can you use it with third-party cases of similar thickness?

Based in the reviews I've watched it looks well made not heavy and will not scratch phone. I'll update when I get it.

I just got it and they keys feel great. It will only work with the case it comes with. It won't scratch the screen and probably will work with screen protector. One flaw with Korean is the period is a dollar sign so you have to press and hold for a second and the it's a period. It's not backlit they should at least made it glow in the dark. I'll probably memorize it soon enough. Size wise it is a little smaller then the on screen smallest size Samsung keyboard. Buttons have real nice click and feel. No cursor arrows.
I figured out how to fix the period issue. So working perfect. Definitely could use backlight but hopefully soon will learn to type without looking.

Unfortunately this keyboard layout is QWERTZ, not QWERTY version
I really want this keyboard cover for my Note 8, does anybody have an idea when it will be sold here in the States?
