AOSP Rom Marshmallow for Victara - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone make an AOSP Based Rom with Marshmallow for Victara? Thanks:laugh:

Considering we literally only just got any build on the n6 I'd say give 1-3weeks for moto x and g

Yeah, its gonna take a couple weeks at least. Likely Motorola will release the update for the pure edition before someone builds it from source.

Yeah, we'll see. CM-13.0 has started being set up (all the Marshmallow AOSP stuff is merged) and today they seem to be working on a bunch of kernel-level stuff for Nexus devices. The 2014 Moto X might come soon but who knows. Also, who knows how long Motorola will take to push out that update. The 2014 Moto X got 5.0 within 2-3 weeks, but it took 3-4 months to get 5.1, so I just have no idea.

Android M for Moto G 2014?

Hello,
There are rumours over the internet that Motorola might skip Android 5.1 update for Moto G 2014 and going for Android M/Android 6.0 update. Anybody have any idea about this? I have already started to wonder because Moto G 2013 received Android 5.1 update quite a while ago and all that Moto G 2014 got was Stagefright fix.

Moto g 2014 will get 6.0. We always have our devs :v
Yes please skip 5.1.1 and wait another half year for Motorola to release M for Moto G2, when the next Android version will be released by Google and skip Android M too. :good:
Google App Version 5.3
Please install the new google now launcher on play store, moto g 2nd gen.. vertical app icon nd search option is the new change
Devices with Android 4.4 and higher, reports say, are eligible to get the update. However, it was reported that only Android M preview 3 devices will experience the perks of the update.
A few months ago, the company announced that the Now on Tap feature would not be included in the Android M preview testers. The update though may imply that Google has changed its mind.
Meanwhile, the update also brings the vertical scrolling app drawer to the Google Now Launcher.

developers created 5.1.1 based roms while it wasn't rolled out by moto g, so will they get interest in developing marshmallow for our device?

Hell yeah. I don't care about the Moto update. We have a great community.
Well, finally we have the news. Motorola is going to provide Android Marshmallow update for Moto G 2014. Here is the link from Motorola official blog: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html
The best part is, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/2014
So most probably, we won't be getting any Android 5.1..1 update.

Well, Motorola has announced Android M/Android6.0 for Moto G 2014. It is on their official blog and you can check it here: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html.
Also, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.cust...news/g_id/2014
But what we need to keep in mind is that Motorola is very much slow when it comes to releasing updates. Nexus already got it, I am sure, like Android Lollipop, many of other devices would get it before Motorola releases.

Well, let's just look at the history:
Android 5.0: We got it after months after Google released it for Nexus.
Android 5.1: Nexus got it long time back, we didn't get that one.
Android 6.0: You say? maybe June 2016 or something

Moto app for custom ROM [6.0/6.0.1]

Is there any custom android 6 ROM that has Moto app? I meant THIS
OR, Does the ROM support the Moto features of :
Moto Display, Moto Voice, Moto Actions, etc... if you know what I mean. If so, give the link for that ROM
I can't afford to lose this, I love this mobile for those features.
OR ELSE, Is there a separate Moto app for a ROM, if so, please give the link for ROM with that Moto app
OR, Does the app directly from the Google Play Store works? If so, give the link for that ROM
Also, if you could give me the default CM13.0 link along with this, I'd be greatful
Here, the ROM I'm asking is totally Android 6.0, Marshmallow and the device is totally MOTO X (2013)
Thank you guys for the concern, you guys rock!
If you want to use Moto display, voice, and etc features, you should stay on stock.
There is no official CM13 for Moto X yet.
You can try Team octOS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/romghost-team-octos-oct-m-t3324780
Or search XDA forums for unofficial CM based marshmallow ROMs.

No, device support ended in 5.1.
And no custom 6.0.1 rom will have the Moto functions because that's proprietary and Lenovo won't release the drivers.

Fun Fact: CyanogenMod 12.1 is the latest CyanogenMod version available for Moto X, AND Moto G received 13 snapshot just a while back.

To be fair the 2013 Moto G was a much more popular device than the 2013 Moto X.
Even unofficial ROMs are becoming more rare to our device, I have a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and it received a very functional Nougat ROM just 5 days after official launch, meanwhile I don't see any interest from a kind developer in porting Nougat to our phone.
Despite that I don't see much reason to buy a new phone right now, my phone is fine even after more than 2 years owning it.

Our official CM dev @Skrilax_CZ is working on CM14 -- just like he did CM12, CM12.1 and CM13. No device has official CM14 yet, just stuff thrown together. CM team has not released any CM14 ROMs yet.
Due to his kernel work, he's the only reason we have any custom ROMs at all -- they all use his CM kernel in their ROMs. Even BHM27 kernel is based on CM code @Skrilax_CZ wrote.

Moto X Style does not have official CM14 yet. Yes, somebody has thrown together an unofficial CM14 for that device but lots of stuff doesn't work.
@ Skrilax_CZ will release official CM14 when it's ready.

This is just speculation as to when the first official CM14 nightlies for any device will begin, not necessarily our Quark.
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/cm14-release-date/
CM14 Release Date?
Expected on: October 2016 (2nd week). Read the below to know why we think so.
As said above, the work has started on the CM14 ROMs over at Github, the central station of the code. We already have ports of CM14 ROMs available for numerous devices, which we tried to list out in separate section below. Mind you, CyanogenMod has yet to release a ROM, as these ports are self-cooked (unofficial) ROM by users using the code available from CyanogenMod team.
Stable release of the CM14 would definitely take some time. When ROMs are stable enough to be used as daily driver, CM team will release them themselves. But let’s try to find out expected release date of that happening.
Let’s take an example. A real one. For Cyanogenmod 13, which was based on Android 6.0, it took nearly over one and a half month.
Google started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on October 5 last year, and uploaded it to AOSP the same day too. But it was only on November 24 that Cyanogen team released their first build of CM13. So, that’s 50 days, around 1 month and 20 days it took CM team to fork out their first CM13 build for selected devices, while most of the devices received CM13 support only later on.
We can expect similar release gap between AOSP release of Nougat and CM14’s release. As Google released the Android Nougat as an OTA to Nexus devices on August 22, to which we add the Marshmallow time gap calculated above of 50 days, our expected CM14 release date would come to October 11, that is, second week of October 2016.

Ok, I greatly appreciate it. I just got my Turbo a couple days ago and was just looking around. Once everything has been built I should be able to use the repos to port other CM based roms over to the quark devices. I'm in the middle of getting my build environment set back up since I havent done anything in quite a while. Please note though, I am not a developer. I'm just someone who knows how to build from source using other peoples work on device repos.

These are the Marshmallow ROMs currently available for our Quark devices, so you can keep up with what's being done for our device. Just a repost of mine from another thread. Once CM14 (Nougat) comes out, these will probably be updated. But there's tons of other ROMs out there people would love to have! So, thank you.

Here's the current custom Marshmallow Quark ROMs to choose from:
[ROM][All Quark][6.x.x]Resurrection Remix
Bliss Rom 6.4 by Team Bliss
[ROM][6.0.1][OFFICIAL][QUARK] MoKee OpenSource Project
[Rom] NEXUS EXPERIENCE 10.4 [MotoMaxx] (recently updated to Marshmallow)
AOKP - Android Open Kang Project[6.0.1][Marshmallow]
[Moto MAXX XT1225 / Droid Turbo XT1254][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 13.0
[ROM][2016-09-17][Quarks][CM 13.0 Unofficial][6.0.1] (hybrid of CM13 and Resurrection Remix)
That list is in no particular order.

You can also install a Marshmallow stock ROM released by Motorola for the Brazilian Quark. @iiWoodstocK adapted it so it runs on ANY Quark, including the XT1254 Droid Turbo or XT1250 U.S. Moto Maxx (clone of the XT1254). It will use YOUR radio, whatever you have installed.
[ROM][6.0.1][Stock][Odexed]MPG24.107-70.2 Brazilian 6.0.1 for XT1254[TWRP Flashable]
Stock 6.0.1 MPG24.107-70.2 (Brazil) for Verizon XT1254
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/rom-mpg24-107-70-2-brazilian-6-0-1-t3426234
I didn't include it in the list above, because while technically it is a custom ROM, the only "customization" was to allow it to be flashed via TWRP and to allow it to be used on ALL Quarks: XT1254/XT1250/XT1225. Otherwise, it's pure Motorola Marshmallow stock which was officially released for a Quark phone.
iiWoodstocK said:
this ROM is just factory Marshmallow with a modded build.prop. I didn't include any radio in the .zip, so it uses whatever is currently on the device. Aside from my build.prop tweaks, this ROM is even usable for Brazilian XT1225 users, but the device will say it's a Droid Turbo and contain useless CDMA build.prop lines.

Major stock functionality that I have confirmed working as it should: Moto Display, Approach to wake, Wi-Fi, mobile data (LTE/3G), calls, etc. No Verizon VoLTE (yet). I have not tested Moto Voice as I do not use Moto Voice, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Move to LineageOS?

So with the closing of the Cyanogenmod project, will our Dev, the great Skrilax_CZ, be moving on to LineageOS along with the rest of the pack? Does anyone know? I have heard rumbles of CM14 but it looks like that might have to be from LineageOS instead.

LOS is already available for our phone: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-t3494646
We have several Nougat ROMS, all based on CM/LOS to various degrees.

Current build of los14 has a screen split bug.
If you install it either go back on build or wait a few days for the next one.
I ran it for two days other than that bug happening after some ads it ran flawless. Currently one rrn due to that bug. But it should be fixed next update.
I updated my list above, because one more Nougat custom ROM just got posted. We now have FIVE Nougat ROMs.

Android O?

Hi,
I don't remember who initially made the Android 7 port to Moto X2, but I remember it was a good port...
Any thoughts to the Android O version?
As videos I've seen, seems to be really similar to the 7.0 version, so I guess it's the same drivers?
I hope we can get the O port, that first port from the 7.0 was my daily use and it was good.
I assume we will get Android O but it wouldn't be until Nov-Dec or early 2018. At that point this phone will be knocking on 3-4 years old and may be deemed obsolete. In the US we didn't even get marshmallow stock! So were already 2 versions up!
I think Moto X 2 could manage to live with a Stock Android O.
At this time, even "Android Go" would look so slim/lite for this device, which is stronger than the hardware Go is intented to work with.
The real problem would be that, almost for sure, Lenovo wont add any new "major update" (with its respective support) for Moto X 2. As our partner, shawndak, said before, some variants didn't even get Android M.
Would be an absolute surprise if we reach an stock Android O (or Go) for Moto X 2.
I know Lenovo would not put this update to the device, I'm asking for the guy who made the first 7.0 port to do this one to =D
I remember his port was very good... I've used several months before Cyanogen 14.1 was released because his ROM was more stable.
Most probably it will eventually get a Android O port, yes.
But I would be more interested in getting the Android N builds stable first hahahah

That depends on your concept of "stable". Even CM13.1 still got some bugs.
