Is it just the app that is not working? Does it crash?
Also, I don't think M gives you enough space to do anything on the system partition. ....And unless you have a custom kernel that removed /system r/w protection, you also won't be able to modify anything.
So Further to the question above, if the app does not crash;
How much free space do you have on System?
What kernel are you using? Link to thread.
Looks like it is working using the lastest JDX rom. So it might have been the system partition as you suspected. I also able to use adaway and change the dpi which was not working before. Thanks!

Can a link to this rom be provided?
What exactly is it thats preventing fonts from being installed...?
Would a kernel fix it

Yes, as long as the kernel is removing r/w protection. I know there was a special version of Elemental X 3.00 but that is not posted in post 1 of the thread. I am not sure of the newer versions include that or not.
JDX is a stock based rom in the android development forum which presumably has the modded kernel.
Sweet thanks, I'll have a look

I've just built AOSP from master branch.
The most interesting thing is the optimized ART runtime. It's enabled by default and works with much more apps now.
I didn't try it on N4 yet, but on a similar device which basically is hardware compatible.

it's from master branch.
basically it's a mix between 4.4.3 and 4.5.
Google pushes core changes to master branch and hobby devs can use gerrit to merge changes into that branch.
The new features and UI changes are still closed source until google releases a new android update.

mainly ART, because it should work with much more(maybe all) apps now.
And many small optimizations.

Installed on my Nexus 4 and everything works ok. Installed Banks' latest Gapps too. TWRP still working.
One weird thing is there's a red square flashing around the edge on some screens.
Have to go out so didnt have time to mess around any more.

Thanks for this. Had a moment when I thought, Oh oh!
Any noticeable changes? The dialer?
Here's something I made for myself and thought I'd share. It's a zip file that deletes CM11 camera, gallery, DSPManager, and lockscreen replacing them with the CM11s camera, gallery, audiofx, and lockscreen. It also adds screencast apk and it backs itself up so you don't need to reflash between nightlies.
Woking good with latest nightly ? thx

Sure as long as the nightlies have something to offer over cm11s.
Does this include color control to change saturation, hue, etc?

Try reflashing(dirty) the rom and do not flash his zip.
Also what rom are you using? It may let us know why you are having this issue.

What are you wanting from the zip file. If your wanting the lockscreen try here just make sure you have a backup. If it doesnt work I dont think there is a lockscreen made for it. I will keep looking.
Is mahdi cm11 based? Dirty flashing wont work because the backup script will delete files that are causing the issue in the first place. You could wipe system and then reinstall/dirty flash which would get you back without using a nandroid backup.

I would not advise doing that. As the file is from 5.1.1 there is no telling what changes to the system that has been done.

It seems to me that you already know the answer. You are familiar with the terms TWRP and root.
Beside the question you need to give a motive.

Understood. It is nice to know the 'why' behind questions.
On my N6 I've LED control, but with a Lite rom of Danvdh and the cataclysm mod. Works good, but .......root and TWRP.

Unfortunately that's one of the caveats of modifying the device.
It breaks system integrity and causes issues with the keystore.
