Hi, does anyone here have the Turbo Charger?
I recently bought a Qualcomm Certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger..
http://www.cliptec.com/power/charger/62-power/charger/570-gzu518
..and would like to know, is there a toast msg or notification that says you're connected to a Quick Charger?
How would I know if it's actually charging quickly?
Thanks

Mine too, used tenergy q.c, the led will turn green if plugged to device with q.c 2.0 support. If your charger doesn't have led indicator, you can test it while your device in low battery (below 15%), it will charge your device very fast compare to non-q.c.

Meaning it will only trigger QC if device is below 15%?
Mine doesn't have led but I let the motox run to 0% and charged it while off, it charged to 60% in 35 mins.
But previously tried charging while On and it was normal charging. I'm only not sure whether it was under or over 15%

The lower the battery the faster the charge, as you approach a full battery the charger will slow down so as not to damage the battery.
I have a QC 2.0 charger made by Aukey in my car and it charges the phone from 30% to full or almost full during my 30-45 minute commute home.
There is no notification that pops up on the phone and my particular charger doesn't have any lights on it but the rate is very fast and a noticeable difference from my old charger.
The phone will get a little warm on a QC charger but I have it mounted over my AC vent in the car so that handles that concern.

Thanks for the explanation. I think I'll be returning this charger. Seems it only performs quick charge when phone is very low on batt and off

I think it works in turbo mode up to about 80%. Note also the quality of your cable can greatly affect your charging speed.

According to Motorola, the Turbo Charger does it's thing from 0% to 78%. Past that, it charges at regular speed in order to produce less heat to avoid damaging the battery. The Quick Charge works with the phone turned on and off, but when it's off it charges faster because there is almost no discharge, whilst when the phone is turned on the discharge is considerably higher. :highfive:

I have two QC 2.0 charges, one Aukey and one Tronsmart. In my tests, my Moto X always juice 9v from the charger, only the current charge, something I have noticed, is when charging and using the phone, don't make the charging current goes down. 15 min of charge give me 30%+

Hi !
I just received my Nexus 6, and I saw that, when I reach 100%, Qi charging stop.
I charge my phone at night, and I don't think that going to 99% then 100%, and then 99%, 100%... during 8 hours is good for the battery.
On my Nexus 5, the phone was at 100% and said "charged" all the night.
Is there a way to "Qi charged" like the N5 ?
If no, will this be possible one day ? (Is it software or hardware ?)
Thank you !
IDK?

That's a good question, mine does it as well. Luckily my charger beebs to inform me, so I can remove phone?.
@op - what it is doing is trickle charging. The N5 did the same too
I'm using the samsung Qi wireless charging and my phone charges fine. the little light on the charging station blinks when charging and it goes solid when 100% is reached.
I wouldn't worry about that. The Qi charging is very gentle and you will start the day full up.

I know that. I just want to know if it's bad or not for the battery to let the phone charge and discharge all the night ?
I am using the aukey luna. Once the phone gets to 100% it stops charging completely. I wake up between 94 and 96 percent usually -_-
I frequently leave mine on Qi charge all night and I am not worried about damage. If you are then you could get one of those on/off timers and set it to power up your ac adapter say 3 hours before you normally wake up :good:

There is no worry about the battery but there is one other problem I found.
I use wireless chargers everywhere, car, house, office, and unless I set my screen to turn off after just 30 seconds, it will not shut off when the charge is close to or at 100%.
The difference this time is that not only does the phone trickle charge instead of just staying charging like the Nexus 5 does, it also wakes the screen and resets the screen off timer. Unless you push power off before putting it in the charger with 100% battery the screen will never turn off.
This brings up issues with screen burn. So if you forget it may stay awake on a single image for a long time.

Not true. Both the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5 will stay charging on the wireless charger just as if they were plugged in. Nexus 6 WILL stop charging for just over 30 seconds before starting to charge again.

Weird - my N5 and N6 both will charge up to 100% and stop charging till the battery drops to 98% or so (that usually takes over 4 hours at night) - then, they charge up again to 100%. (they definitely don't start recharging in 30 seconds)

I'm not sure why that would make any difference but I have several. All of them keep charging without disruption even if the device is at 100% except the Nexus 6.

When the battery reaches 100%, it isn't going to be charged anymore till the battery level drops. The DT900 has a small LED indicator on it that turns off when it isn't actively charging, and that's how I know that my phone has reached 100%. I haven't used the other chargers that you have listed, but I have the DT-910 as well and that behaves in a similar manner (like the DT-900)

I'm not sure how the algorithm works but I'm sure it keeps the phone operational while the battery is being kept at 100% without actually overcharging it.
All I can tell you is that when My N4 or N5 reaches 100% the lightning bolt in the battery status never goes away. It is as if it was plugged in via the USB or AC.
The N6 is the first phone I owned that actually stops charging at 100% on wireless chargers. The lightning bolt goes away and the phone waits until the charge drops a bit before connecting again (the lightning bolt shows up). Again, only on the wireless charger because when plugged in it acts the same as the other two.

Yeah my G3 (F460S) always stayed at 100% when it was done. The Nexus 6 will dip to 96-98% before charging again. I think this a bug because all other qi enabled phones and tablets I've had don't do that.
My Nexus 6 does not resume charging whatsoever after it has reached 100%. I wake up consistently between 94 and 96%. Using the aukey luna.
Example
I'm using the "fast charger" that comes with the phone, but it seem to charge slower than I predicted. It says 1 hour until full charge when they phone is at 55%.
Is this right?
did you use the cable that come with the phone?
not all microusb cable can do fast charge.

Yes. I'm using everthing that comes with it.
The next question is.... were you messing with the phone while it gave you that estimated 1 hour left to fully charged? If you have the screen on and doing a lot of crap with it, of course it will take longer (this may be obvious to some, I'm not trying to insult you if you didn't know this, just stating the fact)
My experience with it went like this yesterday - note that I haven't even unpacked the factory charger, was using the Motorola Turbo Charger for this "experiment"
0% (phone died over night off charger to make this test)
30 mins on Turbo Charger - 45%
1 hour on Turbo Charger - 85%
Had to take it off to go to work, but those are some great numbers for a charger not necessarily designed for this phone, but the device was in Fast Charging mode the whole time, of course, so it was comparative
Is there some way to turn on fast charge? Because 6hours to fully charge or even charge a lot I don't have.

Lol I plugged into the the stock charger from the box and it said 6hrs to charge (from 0) switched outlet just incase that outlet was wonky but same result. The I said screw it and just figured I use to wireless charger so at least the phone would be near me, low and behold it says 3hrs (from 0). So apparently wireless is the way to go.

You must have had something else going on with the phone for it to say 6 hours on the factory charger....... I don't remember what mine said because I plugged it in, powered it on, and started watching the clock in the kitchen, turning on the phone screen only to check battery levels at those specific intervals I stated! I didn't even touch the device to start anything when I started this experiment, so it wasn't running any apps other than Android system level stuff, but no, wireless definitely isn't going to be faster, despite what the estimated timer said on the phone!

Well it's charging super quick compared to that factory charger. On the factory charger (plugged in right after phone died) went from 0 to 5 percent in about 25 minutes. on the wireless charger right now its gone from 5 to 16 in under 20 minutes. more than twice as fast.
Aslo, I am using the new Samsung wireless charger that is supposed to support fast charging.
**EDIT**
It charges even faster if I plug it directly into the cable for the wireless charger. Now it says 1hr29mn instead of 2hrs.

Any charger that has Qualcomm QuickCharge 2 built in.
They are a little bit more expensive, but are worth it in my eyes.
They charge a lot quicker than normal chargers as the charger monitors battery temp and delivers maximum charge without stressing the battery.
I can charge my phone from under 10% to charged in 2 hours and it's not even warm.
When I plug the phone into my PC at work it gets really hot and I'm sure that's not good for the battery.

It CAN be charged by any QC 2.0 charger but you won't get any out-of-the-box. The standard charger is EP880 paired together with EC803 charging/data cable. My original charger stopped working after just 10 months and now I'm using Blitzwolf BW-S2QC charger.
But it's true - quickcharging a phone does not even make it hot or anything like that. Unless you start using it but it's my case
I recommend buying QC 2.0 charger.
Be sure the cable you are using supports quick charge 2.0 as well

Fastest with dash
i heard that this also works with usb power delivery (maybe out of the box or with a custom kernal?) which is good news. an open standard fast charge framework is always a good thing.,

With the supplied charger and cable the charging time is very impressive ("Turbo Charge") with a normal QC3.0 charger charge time is still very good but comparable to most other QC3.0 devices.
Something to note is the device does get noticeably warm when using the supplied charger in the "Turbo Charge" mode.
Takes about an hour for me with included charger.

That's normal because you're not using it, if using while charging it will be hot as your running apps, tasks etc... at the same time. This will increase the heat as sensors will be running also.
Has anyone tried to use other cables that has the same turbo charge effect like the included cable? The included cable is too short, usually I use 2 meters long cable.
I have tried the baseus 5A 40W cable but it only support quick charging and not turbo.
I've tested charging wattage using original 33W charger and original USB cable via specialized USB tester, and I noticed it provides only 25W (about 9.6V/2.65A). It shows "Turbo Charge" indeed, but it's still only 75% efficient. Anyone care to explain this? Is this normal? I've read that only Zoom edition can be charged at 33W, so I expected non-Zoom edition will charge at least with 30W. I tried two other USB cables, and still only 25W. Later today I will try to charge it with Blitzwolf 30W PD charger and see how it goes with that one...
I haven't really tested charge speeds. So far the battery life has been exceptional and the main reason I opted for this phone without the high res screen and refresh rate, as see battery as more essential. I would much prefer charging at a slow speed to preserve battery life. A good app for this is AccuBattery. It measures how many mAh's being charged and discharged after each charge and keeps a graph. It will estimate battery health also.
Yeah I know about AccuBattery, I've been using it in the past. But a real physical tester device is always more precise. I do sw/hw development for a living so I know for a fact. Indeed, battery life is very good because optimized MIUI and pretty big battery, but it would be even better if charging speed was also up to the specs. Meanwhile I've tested charging speed using Blitzwolf 30W PD2.0 charger (K30Pro should support PD3.0 and be backward compatible), and situation is even worse - only about 15-16W at QC3.0 I believe. So no Turbo Charge was initiated. I mean 25W with original charger is still good, but I expected advertised charging speed. I'll do more tests when I catch some time.
Thats normal, because it don't charge all the time with 30W. Compare it with WARP Charge 30T it is faster. OnePlus 8 got 30W and 4300 mAh, F2 Pro is faster with bigger bettery but it's almost the same.
How old is your Blitzwolf charger?
I know it shouldn't charge @30W above 80-90%, but sure it should at 20-ish where I'm at about now. It's also not even cool to the touch, so there's no apparent reason to slow it to 25W. My Blitzwolf charger is about a year old, but I only used it couple of times, so it should be as good as new.

Batteries don't like heat but it is actively monitored and it will slow down charging when it crosses temperature threshold.
That's why I mentioned my phone is not even cool to the touch (let alone hot), so my case is not temperature related. I'll try to charge it while turned off, though it was pretty much in idle doing nothing when I did the test, ie. not stressed at all by any factor. All in all, I mean if everyone else gets 25W out of original charger, I won't bother anymore. Also, if it charges from 10-90% in around 1 hour, I won't waste any more time on this either, since it's good enough for me. I was just curious why it charges at 25W, when 30W (and 33W for Zoom edition) was advertised. Altough it wouldn't be the first time something was advertised at launch, and not achievable in real-case scenario.

Fun fact: phone doesn't charge when powered off?! That's a first. Is it just me, or am I getting too old? For the whole time I'm talking about my Redmi, not to confuse it with Poco, if that matters at all. Maybe Poco works differently.
On my Huawei device you also can not turn off an charge but this starts with Android 10.
takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes for me, I think the high temperature here, summer season, is the reason for this slow charging speed.
From 20-100% in about an hour. Few minutes less actually. Battery is big, that's all ok.
F2 turn off and are dead with 0% (can't turn on). Timer 60 min. and after 60 min. I got 96% with original charger. The phone don't turn on, like it always do.
@Burs a friend told me "on my Anker charger I only can use PD over the third usb port, with the type c port it will charge over QC 3.0 and not over PD" maybe thats why you get ~16W?
When my Redmi was turned off completey, it was hooked up to my USB tester for about a minute. I doubt it would trigger after some minutes, and only then start charging. For the whole time it was connected, I was getting 5V / 0.015A readings on the display. That's pretty much USB tester drawing the power from the phone battery, not the charger! So that would mean charging was completely disabled making the phone behave as a power bank lol. Weird enough, right?
My Blitzwolf charger has only two ports. One PD2.0 (USB-C) and one QC3.0 (USB-A). I've tried three sets of USB cables (one even 5A) on both ports, and best I could get out of it was about 15W. I think I'll have to order another one with PD3.0 and Turbo Charge compatibility.
Heh I'm planning on just using my old 1A slow chargers because they're dotted around the house and work, will probably not even plug fast charger in. Magnetic cables are just so convenient.
