Power on not working - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the following problem: Out of a sudden my volume and power button stopped working. I could still wake it up with the camera button for 2 tries but after trying a couple of things (long press, combinations etc.) the phone went off at some point. Now I'm not able to turn it back on again.
When I plug in the charger, the phone shows the charging screen. I can press Power+VolUp and get vibrations and a restart (to charging screen) but nothing else.
When I plug it into the computer it boots into fastboot. I'm able to submit commands via fastboot but no response via adb. (I found a tip issuing 'adb shell input keyevent 26' but adb does not find the device) using the various reboot options (continue, reboot, reboot-bootloader) only gets me into fastboot again or charging screen.
How can I get my phone back to work preferably without loosing any data? I still have some important stuff on the internal memory and would like to back it up. So reboot into recovery and backup via adb would also be ok, but I can't get into the recovery.
Infos:
- Phone is rooted via http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343 running '23.4.A.1.232 - Unbranded - CE1 [Central Europe] (1288-7915)' after an update. (older version with root installed via instructions, update self-rooted (via PRFC) and installed 1 month later)
- VolUp+Power in charger only gets back to charging. No change
- VolUp and/or VolDown then plug to PC only gets to fastboot
- Reset switch does nothing at all
Edit: For some reason I could boot it now without doing anything. Saving data like hell... But Power button and VolUp still not doing anything. Camera button and VolDown works... What to do?
Edit2: I tried 'adb reboot recovery' to reflash the pre-rooted ROM but it only went into fastboot mode and I'm where I started... Can't turn it on...

[Q] Bootloop help (cannot access fastboot/adb)

Note: This is a re-post from the Verizon HTC forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533042)
I just rooted and S-off my HTC via rumrunner.
No flash roms install or custom recovery installed.
I wanted to see if I still had CWM from my last root (I returned to stock via http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...highlight=s-on.
So I went into the bootloader or fastboot (I don't remember) and hit recovery. This did not send me to a CWM, but it appeared to be the stock version of recovery. The process took too long (I know impatient) so I turned it off via power button + volume down.
Now I come to you in need, my phone is constantly turning off/on only displaying the green htc text, no red text, then pausing for 8 seconds, then off again to black screen. The whole process lasts 12 seconds, and this had been going on for about 10-15 min atm.
Plugging it in, my computer does not have the time to recognize it with adb, or fastboot.
I cannot use the power button + volume down to go into bootloader, and pressing the power button does nothing.
Please help me.
So here's the update.
Screen is now black, meaning the boot up/down process has stopped.
I have tried these:
A. Hold down the volume down + power button for 20+ seconds.
B. Hold down the volume up + volume down + power button for 20+ seconds and let up on the volume up button when screen goes black.
These two methods results in a single boot up to green HTC text then black screen.
I suspect the device has lost most of its power. Tried it for a third time, the device is now unresponsive and remains at black screen.
Now I plugged the usb cable connected to the power adapter.
The device enters the aforementioned continuous boot loop.
I tried method A and B, and there are no results, the boot loop continues. Now the device returns to the low or no powered state.
Now the device is connected to the computer. The same happens as if it were connected to the power adapter.
Method A and B still do not work.
Results: holding down buttons longer do nothing for me. The device seems to have lost power, but when charged, immediately the device enters the boot loop state.
Note: when doing method A and B the trials were done when screen is on and when screen is off, still no results.
Now the screen is off and not connected to anything. The problem still persists.

If I had to guess I would say your volume down is broken, else it would enter hboot
plug in the power and let it charge all day. then plug it to your pc and try to adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery the instant you here the pc usb ingage.
once you get to the bootloader try and fastboot erase cache followed by fastboot reboot
after your phone boots you should be able to go back to bootloader and reinstall custom recovery

I have a few questions/concerns to this.
1. When I charge it, I can't stop the phone from the continuous boot. I'm afraid that doing this all day might hurt the phone more.
2. Currently I have been charging it via computer (still boot loop), and the computer does not recognize it at all. I think there is really not enough time because the loop duration is only a few seconds.
3. Since the phone is connected to the computer, the commands adb reboot bootloader and adb reboot recovery does not work. Error: device not found.

So what is this method supposed to accomplish?
I did this and the phone stopped the continous boot. However when I tried to go to hboot it went back into the loop. I did this twice, and I'm able to stop the loop with the bright light method, but I don't know what to do from here.
Note: when plugging phone into computer, the loop starts again.

the phone should not bootup with the power cord plugged in from an off state (are you turning the phone back on ?)
turn off phone by holding power 15 seconds under a bright light
plug phone into outlet (not PC) let charge till green light comes on (not Red)
hold volume down and power for 10 seconds ( you should be in hboot)
plug phone to PC choose fastboot hit power
your now in fastboot usb
from here you reflash recovery
fastboot erase cache and reboot recovery
if your still in bootloop I'm at a loss, and seems your hboot is corrupted I think you have to return your phone to Verizon or HTC.

Well I don't know if it is truly off, I'm just assuming it is.
But yes as soon as I plug the phone into the power adapter the red led flashes on, and the htc logo appears, then the loop continues.
I'll probably take it into Verizon tomorrow and update on what happens.
Update: Welp, I gave up. I'm going to get my replacement soon and I'll be turning it into Verizon. Really it's not that bad of a loss since I just wiped the phone, only thing is I lost my screen protector and carbon skin

[Q] Soft-Bricked, OS not recognizing in Download Mode

Background: Have a Sprint LG G Flex (LS995)
Upgraded to KK (This went well)
Using TowelRoot, I rooted the device (This went well)
Rebooted and installed SU (This went well)
Could not install CWM, instead I installed TWRP. There was a warning that said to NOT install on KK. I ignored this. (This seemingly went well, until I accidentally rebooted the device)
Phone boots to the LG logo, and stays there (Not going well)
Tried to enter recovery, (power down, power + vol down button, release pwr button, and repress ---or however the combination is)
Able to navigate, tried to factory restore (didn't happen), tried wiping the cache (didn't help), tried sideload adb (never fully loaded)
Downloaded stock ROM and LG Flash tool (with unlock dll), connected phone in Download mode (power down, then with USB cable in, Vol UP + Power button), successfully entered the mode, but PC (Windows nor CentOS) will not recognize a connected USB device.
I tried windows drivers, tried LG drivers, Android drivers, and no progress. I also swapped out the USB cable for several others, including what I believe to be an LG supplied cable.
Also tried pushing files via ADB (from desktop), and can't push the file.
I even tried random hw button presses, (pressing Vol UP + Power without USB cable, presented me with a Korean option list, which Google translate did a good job and told me the options were for an External Mode (?) with the options of On, Off, Cancel. this white page also had a IMEI barcode on the bottom of the page, since which has partially blanked out (The phone was dropped and slowly the effects are seeping into the display output).
Has anyone else FUBAR'd their device like this, and got out of it?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, as I am stuck!

Alternative ways to open recovery

Hey guys, My victara's volume buttons (both) stopped working after a drop. I was flashing a new rom in it today and forgot about this detail, then, I wiped the wrong partition via TWRP and got a boot loop (easily fixable, when possible) but now I can't enter on my recovery without the volume buttons. I've tried doing it via adb of fastboot but none of them recognized my device. There is a third way to open recovery or bootloader?
When I reset it with USB plugged in, it turns the green led on for 2 or 3 seconds and go back to bootlooping
I was able to fix my volume buttons with some silver tape on the connector and everything is back to normal now
If you are rooted, there are a variety of apps that will reboot into recovery or bootloader. I use ROM Toolbox Pro, but there are others
Adb wait-for-device reboot recovery
Issue this command without the device plugged in. Then plug the powered down device in and it should go right to recovery. It's a good trick to keep around for the future.
I haven't seen that command before. Nice one.

Bootloop, help!

After flashing AEX ROM phone hangs on boot screen. I can't force it to shut down, I have to wait until battery drains. Then I connect the charger, phone immediately boots up, here we go again...
I can't use newflasher.
Brick?
Use Sony Emma.
My phone is also bootlooped after i failed to flash the software.
I don't remember but maybe hold volume up and power button and the phone vibrates 3 or 4 times and after turning off.
Brick is not likely. Plug the phone into a PC, hold power button and up volume until it vibrates then hold the volume up until the blue led shows, meaning you entered fastboot mode. Then open a terminal for adb, wipe with fastboot commands and flash another rom of your choice.
I can flash zip using fastboot??
Code:
fastboot flash system rom.zip
Somehow key combo worked and I got into twrp and flashed rom

Stuck In Bootloop (Not able to get in fastboot or recovery mode)

My device went int bootloop suddenly while I was using it. I not able to get in fastboot (when I press Power + Down it shows fastboot window for a sec and reboots again ) or recovery mode(When I press Power + Up, Screen shows up saying no command).
I was using official build(July patch). I have not enabled ADB. My bootloader is also locked.
Is it possible to get this device working?
Any help will be appreciated.

This is normal behavior of stock recovery: seeing "no command" hold "power" and click "Vol+", - to get to the stock recovery menu (btw, search would 100% give you this tip even in these forums).
As you are locked, and thus you have surely lost user data, you can try to make factory reset from recovery menu.
Yet I'd try to connect phone to power and make numerous attempts to reboot, occasionally rebooting into fastboot and into recovery, - with the hope that phone will switch into the other A/B slot.
If nothing helps, TestPoint/EDL is the only option except service.
But again, the problem may be hardware issue, and as you are supposed to disassemble phone preforming TestPoint, I'd check connectors inside and tried to reboot again before reflashing in MiFlash. And do not forget to reflash in fastboot after MiFlash reflash (and unlock phone - which I did immediately after purchase).
