Hello! I just placed a preorder for a Nexus 6P and had a quick thought. Is there anyone using stock android 5.0 or 6.0 with NO root or flashed ROM that uses Spotify, and that is familiar with Equalizer settings? When I got my G4 I spent weeks trying to find an EQ that would work with Spotify. I just want to know if, in Spotify settings, there is an "Equalizer" option by default?
Thanks!

Spotify uses the system equalizer (lollipop and marshmallow). It's the same one that is used in Google Play Music.

Thank you! I would have assumed so but LG removed the functionality so I wanted to be sure!
Thanks again!

Yes, It seems that Google now lets you use the Movie/TV app while Rooted.
I haven't bought anything else, but Transformers plays fine on my rooted Nexus 7.
Plays fine for me.

Does anyone buy or rent new Movie/TV from Play Store?
After you bought, can you play video?
My rooted Xperia Play cannot play video, so my Nexus 7 does not root.
I'm pretty sure you can play movies /w root because of the encryption scheme in jellybean. I'm guessing that the actual videos get encrypted as app data. Root or no root, I doubt they can be copied off the device and played.
Honestly, I have a lot of respect for google in this regard....they are the only company that has figured out a way to allow users to tinker with their devices and still uphold whatever the copyright holders and developers want...don't get me wrong though, i HATE drm. Google is awesome for figuring out a solution that makes both sides happy.
I bought the season of Breaking Bad since rooting my Nexus7.No problems with purchase or playing it.Transformers plays great just as before rooting.I am stock JB except for the rooting process.
Yes you can use the Movies/TV app now.. i just bought a TV Ep the other day and it streamed just fine from the cloud.. i don't know about on my Gnex or other rooted devices
EDIT: Looks like its still not working on other devices.. just tried watching the same episode i bought on my Nexus 7 on my gnex and it kept saying " can't fetch license 901"

That's interesting. I wonder if it's actually a hardware thing after all? Well for other devices you can just use the Temp Unroot feature in the Superuser app. I've been testing this feature and it's worked flawlessly. Flixster streams Movies fine when enabled and so does Google Movies on my other devices.

Not talking about OTA Root Keeper. Temp Unroot is a separate feature in the Superuser app.

Hi,
After a little help as per the title I wonder if it's possible to play my music collection which is currently stored on an external hd connected to my home router on my N7 without the need for my laptop to be turned on etc
Using an explorer app on the N7 I can see and access the music how I want as above, but I have to manually select the folders and tracks to then play each time rather than it already been catalogued within the player?
Is there a player or an app that can do this to make my collection available please?

Have you tried bsplayer? It worked for me for video, but I eventually went the manual route with es file exp due to other requirements I had

Yeah, sorry I didn't quite make things clear, the music is on a Lan based port via my wifi router, using es explorer I can see and play a track at a time, with the bs player suggested above I can play albums etc, but its library function is awful
I'm thinking this is a common limitation. I can see and play music on a thumbdrive via OTG, but have yet been able to find a way to play more than one song at a time even if I set the player to Random.:crying:

Poweramp will let you play from your thumb drive attached via otg and setup playlists! Don't know if it works over WiFi like the OP wants
To the op a Google search found this

If the external HD is connected up to your computer, you can upload your songs to google play music, which lets you stream your music to anything that has the app installed. Install the uploader on the computer and the app on the PC, very useful and works very well over 3G/HSPA. Linked it below for you.
Google play music
Thanks, I had a look at that, but I have a crap broadband where I live and it would take months to upload my music collection

@OP:
What router do you use?
Try putting OpenWRT on it if possible, and set up a dlna server (minidlna) with your collections.
You can access them afterwards with your N7 using any dlna app you like (UPnPlay or even xbmc)

Halo guys, I guess there are lots of Nexus users here own a bluetooth headset.
After updating to 4.2.1, anyone successfully display the track info on the headset?
I have a smart wireless headset pro and tried with few roms and no luck.
I am wondering if this a rom issue? Anyone with a success can share your rom(kernel) on your Nexus and the bluetooth headset you have got?
Thanks.
Cheers,
L
What you are looking for is AVRCP 1.3 which is not supported by Google yet. So even if you have support for it in the ROM (cm supports it) you will still need a modified version of Pandora, Google play etc or find an app that does support it.
Your headset is the 3rd piece of the puzzle. Hope this helps

Thx buddy, I have done some Google work about AVRCp also.
Another interesting thing is I successfully display the Track Info once, but it failed again after i reboot my headset
For the reconnect issun, I get a App from Play store and solved the problem. It seems that bluetooth is buggy in Jellybean, much better in Gingerbread.
Cheers,
L
I have All Access in Google Play Music, and use it on both my HTC One and my Nexus 7 2013. I noticed last night that I have gapless playback on my Nexus, regardless of whether the songs are downloaded or not. I also have gapless playback on my laptop, playing from the Web page. My One continues to have a slight gap between songs. Both services are running stock Android 4.4.2. I couldn't find any way to make changes in settings. Any idea how I can get this to work on my One?

are you using the stock app for your nexus 7? i know the stock music app from google does allow that but the stock HTC sense music app doesnt allow that. so thats where you might want to clarify
No, in all cases in using the built in player for Google Play Music.

In fact, I don't think the Nexus even has a music player other than Google Play Music.

Hi, I am thinking of getting a pebble, however I have concerns about compatibility, I have an s3 mini (i8190n) running CM12, I also flashed something called Gapps? I dont know if this will affect compatibility, thank you for your responses
Gapps is just a phrase for the Google apps, like the play store and Google search and such. As long as cm12 for your device has working Bluetooth I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Thanks for the response however I have heard from some that CM12 has problems with Pebble on some devices
Nah, Mine's fine. I'm running a latest CM12.1 and that works quite well.
Hi, also confirm that mine is running fine (S4 with cm12.1 and Pebble steel)
Mine's fine too. Cm12.1 with notification center.
I have used the pebble quite successfully on a Oneplus one with both oxygenos and cm12.1 unofficial. I have 6 to 8 loaded apps all the time. Including navme, music boss and ESPN. All work. Thank you.

Working fine here. Cm 12, Note 4 and pebble time
Music Boss for media apps
My LG G2 is running with CM 12.1 and there are no problems with my Pebble Classic.
