Hi,
I love this tablet but I hate the home physical button from Samsung[emoji16] .
Do you know any app that allows to have on screen buttons like on other Android devices?
Thanks.
Envoyé de mon Nexus 9 en utilisant Tapatalk
You need root.
You can edit the build.prop to show the onscreen keys, add the line below:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
or if you install xposed there is a good app called Ultimate dynamic navbar.
Without root there are various apps that can give similar onscreen keys.

Great info. I'm going to be rooting soon so I have this question - where onscreen will the buttons show / how large an area? Thanks!
Have you tried the Assistant Menu? No need for root, just turn it on.

I tried back button app. Nice. You can place your on screen buttons anywhere.
But I can't place them Under the dock so when I use some applications or even the keyboard these buttons are on the keyboard[emoji35] ...

What is assistant menu? An app? I haven't found it on the play store.

To turn ON the built in function... Assistant Menu...
Go to... the system settings
then tap... Accessibility
Tap... Dexterity and Interaction
Tap... Assistant Menu and turn it ON
This would show a small button which you can place anywhere on the screen with multiple functions.

I receive my tab s 2 today[emoji6] .
So I will try your tip[emoji3] .
If I could have soft buttons just under the dock (as in other Android devices except Samsung) it would be great! @ashyx, is it possible?

Ok it was just to be sure, because all I have tested, non rooted, allows me to install what I want (home button, back and recent app), BUT not below the dock ..
I mean if I use for example the keyboard the on screen keys are ON the keyboard, very annoying.
Maybe it's only with root that I can have a real navbar...

Without entering in details, (I don't care void warranty), is it usually easy to root, install twrp, etc....Or there is some restrictions I should know with Samsung devices?

I was just a bit afraid because I don't know Samsung at all and I had heard in the past that Samsung devices had some very "blocked" or very hard to "relock" bootloader... But I think all this have improved and devs have found solutions now[emoji4]

Euh... Samsung is not Motorola or HTC! With download mode and Odin, you can flash all what you want and it's easy.
If you have a french version (i think), your bootloader is unlock. Only some providers lock their BL (Verizon, AT&T...).
And, if you're not sure there is a video here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/general/video-guide-root-samsung-galaxy-tab-s2-t3224788
It's for 5.0.2, probably your rom version.

You are right : I have a French version , 5.02, and bought on Amazon, not from any telecom provider. [emoji4]
So the situation is not complicated in my case!
Thank you for your link. This night I will have the pleasure to discover this tablet and compare it to the nexus 9[emoji4] . I will read the development section and will probably root tomorrow if I find this tablet fine.

Hum,
Maybe my eyes are not good enough but I didn't see these bandings on my unit.
But I noticed much more the bad calibration and over saturation of the colours on adaptive mode, photo mode ...(I am a photographer). Basic mode is the best but not perfect: the whites are a bit grey, and the "auto" contrast bothers me on some of my pics...
The nexus 9 was better for reality display, for a photographer.
But on the other points this tablet is perfect.
Any calibration tool, kernel, app exist for Samsung amoled screens guys? [emoji102]

Hi,
I have a dlna Samsung tv connected on my local network and the option screen mirroring of my tablet doesn't find my tv.
I am surprised because it does work with my two other Android devices.
For info I don't have any chrome cast...
Anybody else encounters this issue?
I am rooted and on Android 5.11.
It says "hardware problem"...

No problem. I use rom toolbox that is a paid app, but there are free build.prop editors in the playstore. If you copy that line of code, you should just be able to add a line or move to the end of an existing line(there are many!), hit enter and paste it in the space you just made. Often there is an option to save changes, so look for that. Then reboot and screen mirroring should work. This happens when you root and use a modified kernel. Easy fix though. Let me know if you have any issues.
Thank you, Some learning more for my knowledge, cool, I will make the job!

Great !
I am a bit curious : how did you know how to resolve my problem? Is there a guide or a thread about the changes we can make with build.prop?
May I ask you, only if you know, how to disable the red text at the booting of my rooted tablet :"kernel is not seandroid enforcing...."
Envoyé de mon SM-T810 en utilisant Tapatalk
I learned this tip through my note 4. It was an issue early and someone smarter than me helped me out. I would not have known on my own. Many devs seem to be adding that line into there kernels ahead of time so its not always an issue.
As for the red text, its either wanam or gravity box on xposed that can force that text to show normal. I've never tried it, but I do remember seeing that option. Hopefully it will still work for you on lollipop. Its finicky.

Ok. I have also learned something today, that's great.
I have gravity box and Xposed installed, the red text isn't a major problem for me, but I will try to find the tip by myself.
You know I have always been a HTC fanboy and never was able to try and keep a LG or Samsung device more then 3 days because of their ui that were (except the s6) 2 or 3 times slower, or stuttering or laggy than the HTC flagships.
Believe be or not the Samsung tab s2 has the fastest and no lag ui I have ever seen, except in devices like HTC m9, m8 or nexus 5. Of course if the animations are deactivated!

I use the stock alarm clock app all the time. But since the switch to 7.1.19 (From 7.1.12) The Alarm never seems to go off once the phone sits overnight.
As soon as I pickup the phone and unlock the screen the Alarm goes off, so it seems the deep sleep is too deep?
I have MIUI Optimizations off, Memory Management Off, and the battery saver settings are also off. I also tried to Lock the app in memory. Still nothing...
This worked fine for me in all of the other roms except this one (Dev 7.1.19)
Just wondering if its just a bug in the rom and if any of you other guys have noticed the alarm not going off after the phone sits for a long time?
I even tried Alarm Clock Extreme app, still nothing.
Thanks!
Mine works fine on 7.1.19. It's my basic alarm.
I only have battery saver off.

I have the same issue.
Alarm wouldn't go off. I downloaded a couple from the play store as well. Sometimes they work other times not.
At the moment I'm using alarm clock extreme. If the notification is not in the top panel it won't go off. It seems like the app has to be constantly on.
Really annoying with a few little problems lately with ROM updates.
Same issue here. Had to download a3rd party app

That's strange because I just moved to EpicRom 7.1.19 from Dev 7.1.19 and now my alarms are working again...
Do you use exposed? Do you freeze any background tasks?
Just trying to find some common ground...
It is quite strange for me (like for others to), today it worked I don't know why...
I have effectively Xposed installed, I don't think that is coming from it. I had this issue also when I was on official rom without any root or others mods.

Interesting. I haven't installed Xposed yet. (But I had previously when the alarms weren't working)
I suspect its something do to with the freezing of certain app, or at least that what I think it is so far...
I'm going to wait a few days and if the Alarms keep working I'll install Xposed and see how that goes...
Ok, let's wait. you will tell us if everything is going well or not

My alarm is dead since 7.1.12. It is not ringing in the morning. I've to use my yotaphone 2 to wake up. Xposed yes. Freezed, nothing i freezed myself.
If you google that issue you'll find out that this is a common problem with miui, but there's no solution provided that worked for me.
Edit: Tested Google DeskClock, worked. But i've no idea if it works over night, too. Test is going on
Download it st ApkMirror and push it to system/app. I‘ve made a folder GoogleDeskClock and renamed apk to GoogleDeskClock.

Hi there,
One quick question for those who may have tried: do we lose the Spen features when using any other launcher than Touchwiz ? I personally can't live without Nova... . And what about the widgets ?
Thanks in advance !
I've always used Nova on my Note's (N2,3 4 7) in the past and the SPen features worked. I don't remember them not working at least, although it is possible some of them may not have. I plan on using Nova again on my Note 8 and in the past upon taking the pen out the SPen features will likely pop up as they would on stock launcher. Others can chime in if they have further info and/or I am off on this.
They worked fine on the Note 7 with action launcher, at least those functions I use worked. I can also report the edge stuff still worked with it as well, again, those of them I used. It's possible something didn't in either case but I never ran into it. One thing that didn't work was their widgets, they seemed to have been tied in with the stock launcher.
I have a Samsung tablet where I use both Nova and Spen.
I've used Nova on my Note3 and Note5 and have no issues with SPen.
As far as I'm aware, the functionality of the S-pen is part of the firmware, not the launcher. Even custom ROMs that are based on official firmware should still support the S-pen. So go nuts. Try a different launcher every day. The S-pen will work fine.

Nova was a Beast on my Note 7, should be just fine on Note 8. Once of the first things you'll wanna do after changing default screen resolution from the default Full HD+ to WQHD+ and then the Animation from 1 to 0.5.
It's a good point, the stock grid wastes a ton of space, you really want a better launcher just to better optimize the space even without getting into all the extra features.

Hi,
Since 1 or 2 months, my galaxy s8 lags so much...

Does anyone know why Sony Mobile decided to remove the Double-Tap to Wake/Sleep feature on the Xperia X and all the ones since?
Also, does anyone know a way to activate it (aside from using like Nova Launcher's double-tap) or if they're going to bring it back?? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Older Sony Xperia phones had a feature where you can double tap to wake the screen. Since ambient display wasn't there, it just takes you to the lockscreen. Technically we have it, but you have to tap 4 times in order to get to it. (First double tap to wake ambient, then another to go to lockscreen). Also the Xperia home used to have a feature to sleep the phone. I'm not sure if that's still there. I use Nova launcher and can double tap to sleep anyway.
