Root and updating su binary. - LG G Flex

I rooted my ls995zva using king root (because that is the only one that would work). I have chainfire su installed. I use freedom flex to install twrp. On 4.4.2
Now that's out of the way. Here's my issue. When I open up SuperSU it says that the binary needs updated. I have tried both the normal and the twrp method but to no avail. I have rebooted into recovery and tried finding the file myself but can't. I have downloaded an update manually and flashed in recovery. It says successful but at reboot my supersu app is gone. On top of that, I get fickle root access with king root. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

I used brute force/stump root method on my LS995, no problems, complete root access and updated twrp/su.
I don't have any experience with king root.
Off topic.... Are you the same Desertio from oneplus forums?

No update?.......

Yes I am. Why do you ask?

Name looked familiar....
I smashed the screen on my oneplus one, went back to the flex while waiting for the Two. I decided to stick with the flex for a while , but slightly disappointed about the lack of development on the flex especially when the one had so many options.
Did you leave the One?
Did you figure out your root access?

I still have the one as my backup. But my primary is the flex. The size and some of the lg apps are wonderful. Really wish the venom team would come and develop for lg. Lol. My root is spotty at best. Some apps I have to open 6 or 7 times before they're given root access. Now I'm faced with the daunting zvb update. Last time I downloaded it and flashed it my phone was useless for 3 days. I had to reflash factory stock from my computer and start all over.
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk

I'm sticking with my flex because of durability at work.... Lol.
I'm on ZVA and brute force/stump root worked, which was over in the lg g2 section. I haven't updated with root because it seems to brick phones.
I have tried to get some devs over here but no takers, so if you know anyone interested.... I wouldn't even mind paying for someone's time, especially a cm port.

[Q] OTA update to 4.4.2 and preserve root?

I rooted wife's Nexus 7 sometime in last year (or so) so that she could play movies/tv-shows from an attached flash drive (using Stickmount).
First off, i don't need the root for anything else.. is rooting still required to be able to access/play video from an attached flash drive (without copying it first from the flashdrive to your nexus)?
If still needed then I would like to preserve the root.
She informs me that there is a notification for pending software 4.4.2 update ready to install (apparently been there for months) . Is there an easy way to install the OTA 4.4.2 update and preserve my root? So i dont have to re-root the device?
Thanks in advance to any that are kind enough to offer suggestions!
Well i got impatient and loaded TWRP manager but miss understood the part about requiring superSU Pro to retain root and wound up installing the update and wiping out root access.
What i didn't realize (or remember) is that the device is not re-locked so can re-root the device using wugfreshs nexus root toolkit (took couple minutes) without losing anything.
So wife is happy camper

For future i would like to learn this (sorry i only work on her nexus for a few minutes a year so very unfamiliar with the hacks)
I found the newest super su zip relatively easily.. but the "flash it in recovery" part needs a little more step-by-step instruction for the unbaptized.
Thanks for the help.

Rooting 26A

Hey guys,
First to let you know, I was a victim of the latest brick. I got a warranty replacement (don't ask). The phone came in today. The only reason why I want root is to be able to use the mobile hotspot. I'm still grandfathered into unlimited. I don't want to flash or do a custom ROM or a custom recovery. I like the stock ROM. I just only need root to do the mobile hotspot.
Anyway, so on to my situation. I downloaded ioroot, installed the latest drivers, enabled everything, allowed the RSA fingerprint. I ran the root.bat file and it didn't make it through the first step. ADB said it was rebooting phone into stock recovery...except it didn't. I've tried it now 3 times and I get the same result....green android with the red exclamation.
Am I stuck until someone figures out root on a 26A? I read that it should work but haven't read anywhere if someone has successfully rooted 26A out of the box. Is there something I can do to bypass? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Yup...no sooner then I posted this, I read a thread on stump root. Trying it now.
Just to update...I have full root by the stump root method. Was a lot easier then expected. I prefer this method way more then the ioroot method.
Were you able to get recovery installed. I ran into the same situation you did after my son took the update on his phone while it was rooted. If so what recovery method did you follow?

Was wondering this myself. Just got a refurb G2 from Verizon after my wife's first one had a screen issue. It shipped with 26a and I used stump to root it, but not quite sure the best method to follow to install twrp.

Are you unable to use the mobile hotspot BECAUSE you have an unlimited plan?? Sorry if thats a dumb question, I'm coming over from Sprint and the reason I ask is that I'm on tiered data and I can use mine..

Verizon would make you pay for a separate tiered plan for Mobile Hotspot when on unlimited. I'm guessing that's still the case.

[Q] Rooting VS98027A

Hello everyone,
I have just gotten my hands on a Verizon LG G2 running the newest VS98027A update. It has never been rooted before and I'm having trouble getting it rooted based off of google and xda searches. Is it possible to root this version of the G2? Can I install a custom recovery such as TWRP after rooting? and how do I go about rooting it if possible. I've already tried stumproot three times and it fails in an "unsupported device" error so I'm beginning to lose hope.
Thanks!

I've read here that people have used stump root using the "brute force" method in stump. I personally haven't used it, just what I've read, and that it takes up to 10 minutes to work. Once rooted, Freedom Tools will install a custom recovery (from what I've read).
Same issue
I am having the same issue on an LG G2 I just bought. It just updated to VS98027A the day I bought it. I tried rooting with stump, but got the message that I need to bruteforce it. It will run for several minutes before popping up with a message "Error: Unsupported Device".
I can't seem to figure out why I can't root, while other users are posting that stump works on VS98027A using the brute force method.
Anyone have any ideas on how to root this thing?

If you're having trouble rooting, .kdz your way back to 24A, as you will likely also have issues with stump root on 26A. Once on 24A you can use iroot to root, then just do a system update in system settings to upgrade your way to 27A, while keeping root.
Yeah, I was hoping not have to re-setup everything, but it looks like my only option. Thanks, I guess I am used to this after owing a Galaxy Nexus anyway.

So this is what I did, and kept my root all the way through. So I am up and running on the latest version.
I do notice that the knock feature works way better in 24A, as well as waking the phone. If I am in a low light room, the phone frequently will shut the screen off right after waking it. if I move into a brightly lit room, it works fine. I can't seem to adjust it anywhere though.

You don't have a screen protector covering the light sensor do you? I used to have one and it was giving me issues when I went from 24A to 26A, and as soon as I removed it, the issues went away.

Before using stump root I read (and was successful using the same technique) to download 'busybox free'. Then use stump root for VS98027a.
I was able to root my G2 on 27a using stump's brute force. It only took me about a minute and a half of working. Results may vary.
I just used towelroot... took seconds and seems to be working fine. I'm New to the LG scene from Samsung's.. so I'm not sure if towelroot is ok to use with your g2 but I used it and it worked.

I agree. Towel root takes seconds. It takes longer to download the .apk. I use Autorec.apk to install recovery. After you do that: download your rom, boot into recovery backup, wipe and flash

+1 for OC2, I mean all, I, am, seeing is Downgrade options to 4.4 KitKat then towel root then Safestrap then flash slotted Updated Lollipop Rom? All, I want is to remove bloat and use exposed, is there a root for OC2? Without downgrading thanks
Here's the video for downgrading and rooting. Then after that you can use any of the builds available. I'm using Alliance v12. Works like a charm,I almost gave up on my phone and was about to buy a new one. After downgrading to NC2,rooted and the pushing in Alliance 12 it's back. Thank you community.

So you downgraded to NC2 which I'm assuming is 4.4.2 becuase Im on NJ5, downgraded to NC2 or Jellybean I think and rooted with towel root and installed safestrap via the instructions, but when I try to reboot into Safestrap after installing and it installs, I grant it Superuser, and click Reboot to Recovery and nothing happens, any ideas? Becuase I need Safestrap, so I can flash Alliance, or Backup or anything else, but there are SO MANY conflicting OP's, regaurding Safestrap "it abandoned", "it only works on 4.2.2", "there's a work around for Safestrap on 4.4.4, by flashing Kitcat Kernal" "or Safestrap will work on on OC1 also with correct kernel"
All I want is to be on the "LATEST FIRMWARE FOR THIS PHONE, THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO EFFECTIVELY USE SAFESTRAP, TO BACK UP, FLASH, AND RUN ALLIANCE ETC..."
IF that means being someone a beer, I'm cool with that, been around here for awhile and had many Samsung phone Notes One, Two, S3, S4, but never had to deal with this bootloader crap, just so frustrated at this point[emoji726]

Yeah I'm pretty sure I did I mean I have Busy box installed of course, and Safestrap, and I'm not sure in what order, however if Busy box was causing the issue, then Safestrap would not install at all, right? But yes now that I remember, when I got this phone it was already updated to OC1 (at that time the latest build) after try to sift through all the different out dated tutorials, I finally just did what I mentioned above, but Safestrap "Installs fine", "Allows me to grant SU", then "allows me to (click)" reboot to recovery" then FAIL.... nothing happens, on NJ5, I know Safestrap ended development at some point, and don't you also have to flash a certain kernel in order for SS to work on KK? So Confused

You need to install Busybox, then open busybox and tell it to install it into the system
Then open safestrap and do likewise.
I did this on nc2 no idea how it'll work on an older version.

so mrkhigh, thank you by the way first! off, to your response, so as far as you know "Safestrap" did not require any additional steps, to work on 4.3, like an updated kernel, which I know makes no sense to me eithier, other than the permission changes that occured at the true root level on NJ5 Update, and SafeStrap itself not being a true recovery, in the word of true TWRP, per this pain in my @$$ bootloader, which I have already made knowen in this community, AND others, is simply a loophole, to the "right to modify" ruling by the FTC some years back, if you will to the carriers, at&fee included among others

Used KingRoot to root my device, but cannot uninstall it after with SuperSume

I'm using a Samsung-SGH-I537UCUCOC7, Android Version is 5.0.1
TowelRoot didnt work for my device so I used KingRoot as a last resort. However I only wanted to use it to install the root and not have it around as its a bit intrusive. I tried using SuperSume but no matter what I do when I run it, it always stops at 10%. I've tried 5 different times.
Do I have any other options?
Do you have full root or does it go away when you reboot? If you have permanent root and SuperSUMe is not working there is also a script file you can use. You'll have to search for it. I had the same problem with a Kyocera Hydro Icon I had. I ended up using the script, but I think I figured out why at first neither of them were working.
If you could try something as a test for me I'd appreciate it. In my case I rooted the phone with an older version of kingroot, then kingroot updated itself to the new app...but not the new binary. So I unrooted with the newer app and then rerooted with it also so I would have the new binary. After that the script worked for me and I bet SuperSUMe would've too, but I tried the script first.
So try unrooting and rerooting with the newest version then try SuperSUMe...if it fails then try to find the script.

I used version 5.0.4 of kingroot. How low do you want me to go?
Also the binary thing your talking about I noticed it when I downloaded SuperSU it said it was missing some binary and I couldnt use that app either even after I rooted with KingRoot. It sounds like my only hope is that script you were talking about but I'll try a lower version of KingRoot first. I have no idea where I would look to find that script so I can get more info what I'm suppose to search for let me know.

For me I rooted with whatever version you get from their website, but after you root it downloads and updates itself. I unrooted and rerooted with the update to get the new binary. Also, I'll see if I still have a copy of the script on my cpu. If I do I'll post you a link.

last question, I also own a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It was my first Android phone ever and I wasnt aware that AT&T keeps the bootloader locked on their phones. Will any amount of begging and crying to them get them to unlock the bootloader? If the answer is no are there any unofficial means to unlock my bootloader for the phone?

Not too sure but I think it's possible. They unlocked and rooted the verizon and t-mobile versions, so possibly...maybe even by the same process. Search youtube.
