Unless of course he updated prior to the root method thread created.
In either case, it appears that with the oc4 bootloader you can downgrade to root. Look for the Downgrade lollipop thread.
root for Galaxy s5 G900A ?
Could you use odin to flash the stock NDE kernel and then use towelroot to obtain root then flash the 0C4 kernel back ? I used a similar method when i was on 4.4.4 ,any feedback on this, thanks.

Hey guys, i have a G900A VARIANT s5

The main question is...how can i update to lollipop?

Samsung has a piece of software called Kies that can be used to upgrade your ROM.

Follow step 1 of OP ( downloading and flashing build PA2 with Odin) that should give fairly recent build of lollipop.

Has the at&t s5 g900a been rooted yet.

G920A 6.0.1 Root??

Hello, I am trying to root my AT&T Galaxy S6 G920A Phone. I'm having some trouble with it, as most root methods don't seem to support my baseband model. Does anyone know of a way to root the S6 with a baseband model of G2920AUCS5DPK5? Build number is MMB29K.G920AUCS5DPK5. Thanks in advance to anyone with info.
So far there is no root
Our At&t bootloader is locked so idk if we will ever get a root on 6.0.1
Darn. Why is this specific baseband version not possible to root at the moment? I think other g920a's (from at&t) are rootable.

Very early lollipop builds were rootable with ping-pong. Later lollipop builds were rootable with a tethered solution. No root that I'm aware of once you're on MM or beyond. For any g920a. At least some non 'a' variants are unlockable/rootable.

Root Stock S5 G900AUCU4BOF3 ?

Hey how's it going finally upgraded from a Galaxy S4 (rooted/safestrap/rom) to an S5 after almost 4 years.
Trying to root and load a custom rom on Galaxy S5 G900AUCU4BOF3 the guides say to first downgrade to OF3 that is on Android 5.0 (which is what I am on) to a pre-rooted OF3 - would I be safe to try to run Kingoroot or towelroot then use Chainfire to load a custom ROM without flashing a pre-rooted OF3 first?
Thanks
Nevermind figured it out guys thanks anyone who looked.
