Random Boot Maintenance Screen Popping up - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Brand New VZW Note 5. Couple of times a day, my Boot Maintenance screen shows up. Not sure why this is happening. I have to use the volume button to toggle to the reboot normal choice and then select via the power button to escape from the Boot screen. I thought you had to access this by powering off and powering on by holding the volume up and power buttons together during restart. What gives? No idea how to stop this annoyance.

Let me guess...you have a case on it? It's the case. It's either pressing the power and volume buttons just enough or its the kickstand that you may possibly have on the case.

[Q] Samsung case triggered download mode

I was surprised to find that just putting my phone down in the plastic case it came in from samsung caused the phone to enter download mode, (with the green robot and the warning "do not switch off target"). Shows the buttons are very sensitive.
It wasn't connected to the pc or anything.
Does entering download mode this way , ie accidentally, do anything bad?. I got out of download mode by pulling the battery out. The screen wallpaper had changed but apart from that all my settings seem the same.
Does nothing except be VERY annoying (unless you have a stock firmware copied to your sd card - then it will flash firmware)...
Case will probably keep shutting your phone off , going through and selecting apps and making your volume go up and down as you need to press power, volume down and menu button to go to download mode. You then need to press volume up.
This must be a very tight case and it's strange that the menu button is pressed as most cases don't have a screen guard anymore owing to the touchscreens of new phones.
To turn off you only need to hold power button down for 10 seconds. Don't need to pull battery...

[Q] Difference between "reset" and "force shutdown"?

I've read of two ways to get a Z3C to shut down when it is otherwise unresponsive. One is to press the yellow "reset" button inside the nano SIM cover. The other is to press and hold the Power and Vol Up buttons together for ~5 seconds.
Is there any difference in the result between these two ways of forcing the phone to shut down, or do they both achieve exactly the same thing? (In which case, why have both?)
For me - the power + vol button method just turns the phone off immediately. The yellow reset button reboots the phone.

Key combination for when things go bad

Press menu + vol down + power.
Hold down all three buttons until the tablet reboots and the screen momentarily goes off, then after about one second the Samsung and Android logos appear in white.
Now we are at the point where the tablet screen has just gone dark. You have less than one second to:
1) If you release the power button now, the tablet simply reboots.
2) If you keep holding the buttons the tablet enters Download mode.
3) If you very quickly, VERY quickly, press VOL UP, while still holding down the power + menu, the tablet enters the recovery.
I have not found a way to switch it off other than entering recovery and then selecting reboot/power off.
Hard reset only is actually just hold POWER + VOL DOWN

fastboot... Help

I've been charging the tablet for 4 hours. It still has a black screen that says fast boot in small letters. This didn't happen with the other one I purchased.
Does anyone have any advice? I want to give it to my daughter tomorrow!
Help!
If you've not been doing anything with it connected to a computer to install things I think you've accidentally pressed volume down when pressing the power button to turn it on.
If so press the power button until it turns off and then turn it back on with hands away from volume controls.
Hopefully just that

Power Button problem ?

Hello!
Not later than this morning I realized a problem on my Idol 4. At random moments it restarts. When it is on the screen of starting up it continues to restart in a loop. I came to the conclusion that it is a problem with the power button because when I press the volume buttons to enter download mode or even recovery, it quit the download mode (which is done by pressing power) and select options automatically in recovery (which also done by pressing power). So when it restarts I just press the power button randomly, try to pull it out of the phone and then it stops restarting. But again, minutes later it restarts... The button seems not broken or anything that kind but maybe it's in the inside ?
So just questionning how can I fix this.
Thank you a lot !
I think you can just pop the screen off and buy a replacement the idol three was pretty easy to replace. No special tools just used my nails
