Air II - Inaccurate battery meter under Android - Teclast X98 Air 3G

My tablet came with 4.4.4 and win8.1 bing. Later on i updated to Win10 and 5.0 with Mirek's rom. Chris did a post on the inaccurate battery on Win10, but i can't find anything about android.
http://techtablets.com/2015/02/x98-air-3g-battery-meter-fix-7-stuck-issue-one-cell-reported/
With the stock rom i got an awesome battery life, almost 8 hours of SOT with my personal usage.
http://i.imgur.com/gnXPD2Q.png
Then i flashed Mirek's rom the battery issue reveled itself. I'm sure that his rom has nothing to do with this.
http://i.imgur.com/rYLt8OL.png
http://i.imgur.com/A4txAQX.png
It's the same thing like in Chris's post, i lose a lot of percentage pretty quickly then it stuck around 7% and i'm still able to use the tablet for 2 or 3 more hours. I tried to do a good old battery calibration, but no luck there.

Actually I have the same issue, but could not find the solution :/ . I was wondering if it would not be better to just a buy a new battery one with 12000mAh so that I can get even more usage time.

I had the same issue, I just went back to 4.4.4 and haven't had the problem since.

I have the same problem under bios 2.02 and mirek's rom lollipop 5.0. Interesting thing is that at the beggining this problem didn't appear after immediately installing the rom somewhat it appeared at a certain moment but I don't know what was the trigger. So as far as I understand the only fix is to revert back to 4.4, it's ok to keep the same bios 2.02 or I have to revert back to original 1.07?

Did you got an answer for the bios question? I'm giving few more round for Mirek's lollipop 6.0, and i will roll back to 4.4.

I don't have a screenshot, but i was able to use the tablet for 2 more hours after that, and still had juice in it.

Please let me know if the problem persists in Mirek's rom 6.0, I think it will appear because as far as I understood is a bios problem...

It persists.

Which BIOS do you have? I got the same problem. Android "destroys" the battery-metering.'
I'm on BIOS 2.05 and Mirek 6.0... Unfortunately.
When did you buy your tablet? I think its a manufacturing problem (by teclast).

I have the same problem with a C5J6. At the beginning, the meter was correct. After update to Mirek Rom, the meter was innacurate (ok from 100% to 40%). I've updated to a Stock rom again an the issue persist...

Same for me. It worked well 'till I flashed Mirek's 5.0 on C5J6. Maybe we have to flash the older version (Anrdoid 4.4.4) + flash the BIOS again to solve the problem. Anyone tried?

Like it or not, but this issue is goes back to Mirek's rom, even if i'm on 4.4.4, the problem is still there. Sadly not even the stock rom can fix this. :\

I hadn't update the BIOS with the Mirek190 ROM. I only update the ROM
Enviado desde el móvil

Maybe with Mirek's 5.0 or 6.0 the BIOS has changed especially the metering system got damaged. So perhaps flashing again BIOS 2.02 after installation of old ROM (4.4.4 or Stock Rom) can fix this issue? I will test it in a few days. I don't know whether it will work.
The problem is also that I can't find any solution in any forum online. Doesn't look good for us.

I mentioned in this post that I've the unusual drainage in battery stats below 50% and that happened in stock Rom which was android 5.0 fisrt and then happened also in Win 10 , I flashed mirek's V6 Rom and the same problem persist .
I bought the tablet in October and it's model is C5J6 comes with android 5.0/win 10 , bios 2.05 .
Is it possible that it's a hardware problem regardless the software installed because the total discharge hours of the battery is normal but the battery stats is the problem here , I've tried to use battery calibration apps but with no result .

This was my first and only run with the stock 4.4.4 when i got the tablet. As you can see it's totally fine. The most annoying thing is that i'm unable to get nearly as high SOT since i moved to Mirek, thanks to the wrong battery reading. So imo this is not just a hardware problem.
http://i.imgur.com/HzDozSy.png
Edit: weeell maybe i'm wrong, if you check the image there is a huge "wall" near to 40%, so maybe idd a hardware problem.

Hello everyone,
I had the same battery meter problem also and unfortunately Mirek's lollipop ROM was the problem.
But there is a catch! If you simply go back to 4.4.4 stock rom the problem does not go away! You have to follow a certain procedure! (Tested on C5J6)
The first step is to follow the known battery discharge method to restore the battery meter in windows as follows.
-Boot to windows
-Run (powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0) in elevated cmd and then fully drain the tablet in windows until it shuts down.
-Let it charge while off overnight (at least 8 hours)
-Boot to windows and verify that the maximum capacity is reported a little over 30000mwh with AIDA64 or HWmonitor. (If not, repeat the previous steps until you get it right)
- Hard shut down by pressing the power button for 15sec.
-Boot to dns mode (by pressing Vol+ Vol- Power button together) (BE CAREFULL NOT TO BOOT in Android else you will have to repeat everything!!!)
-Flash the stock rom 4.4.4. found here ([email protected]@ps://mega.nz/#!cAgwQZRK!8tyuToPfnXq3EE8ZB7zEB3mR2RLRnFjaIvWJvQfqNCc) (replace @@ with tt for the link to work)
-Let it boot to android.
That was it!! The Battery meter should be back to normal and will not go bad again if you boot to windows and back to android!!! Chears!!
If the battery meter problem annoys you as much as it did me then you have to live with the stock ROM!
I have not tried if this works with the official lollipop rom so if you do, please report back.

WP 8.1 and HTC 8x battery drain

My friend has a HTC 8x and he updated to the 8.1 dev preview. Even after installing the last update that came out last Wednesday his battery is only lasting him about 4 hours. Because he has a HTC phone there is no way to downgrade him back to 8.0 afaik. Has anybody else experienced this issue, and are there any known fixes? (e.g. if particular apps cause this to happen he could uninstall them if he has them). Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Hi,
yeah, I also had this problem on my HTC 8x, the battery drain was extreme, after playing around half an hour it was at 30%. Installing the second 8.1 update should help, but I strongly recommend you to flash back to GDR3, my battery drained completedly out. This bricked my phone, it stucks now at HTC logo and can't load anymore. Replacing the battery helped, but you have to disassemble the complete phone to replace.
How to flash 8x:
ROM: http://www.fshare.vn/file/TEWJCLCVT8/
Flashtool: http://www.fshare.vn/file/6M3WFHX5H7/
1. copy rom into Flashtool folder
2. Turn off HTC 8x
3. Hold Vol Up + Vol Down to get to bootloader mode
4. When a white screen appears, connect to USB
5. Start Flashtool and hit next. Flashing should start.
6. You are on stock GDR2! Now you can update by OTA to GDR3.
I would need the ROM for the USA Verizon version.

Xperia T completely dead, no charging, no booting

Hello,
I have a problem, tried searching for a solution but couldn't find anything. I have an Xperia T with NEO's rom with CM 12.1. I put the rom last week and it has been working very nicely.
Last night I went to bed with its battery being around 20%. This morning when I woke up it was completely dead:
1. Won't turn on using power button
2. Won't charge at all, not with usb, not with wall charger
3. Won't fastboot/recovery
4. PC doesn't recognize it.
5. Tried power + vol up to reset, nothing happens
6. Whatever I try, the LED stays completely off, no blinking, no colors, nothing.
Any ideas? Could this be a hardware (battery) problem? Never thought it could break instantly
While I did manage to fix it but removing the battery and connecting it again, I am still not sure what cause this. Could it be a software issue? I`m using CM 12.1

It's called Sleep of Death (SOD). It can be caused by ROM issue, kernel issue or installed app issue.
Look into the Developer thread for your ROM if there is some advise.

Thank you very much for your reply. In the meantime I restored it to stock and seems to be working ok.
I had issues with WhiteNeo's CM12/12.1 as well.
If stock rom is slow for you, you can try one of the custom 4.3 ROMs. PureXT or Omega worked fine for me and they are based on stock ROM, just lighter/faster and customized.

Best Rom and Bios for X98 Air III 32GB M5C5 FEB 2016

UPDATE MARCH 2018:
I finally converted my Air III tablet from an Android only into a dual boot Win 10 and Android system. I'm using my laptop a lot in the office these days and didn't feel like schlepping it home every day. My Air III is now my home computer.
I'm surprised that it can run one of my favorite games that just came out: "Into the Breach" with no problem. I connected a Apple BT mouse and it's a cool little portable system for Indie games. Other ones I tested that run well are Shovel Knight, Super Meat Boy, Celeste and FTL. As a gamepad I use an Amazon FireTV controller that I link up through BT.
For those of you who still tinker with this tablet, here are some instructions to get dual boot working:
1. Install Mirek190's v7 rom for Air 3g. Copy the 6GB partition table and also the "boot-air3-m5c5-moded - boot.img" (extra download from mirek) to the ROM folder. For your convenience, here is a ready to flash version for the Air III, already modified with the right boot.img and 6GB partition table: https://mega.nz/#!5xMVgRyC!gHfvg3L3kXzL-NOFfTHvk4_nalKRM-io8DtnGhRCUXU
2. DOWNGRADE YOUR BIOS! - This took me a while to figure out. 2.05 is still the best bios to use for Android only but if you want Win10, downgrade to 1.00. 2.05 Bios does not work for dual booting on Air III.
This is not without risk, but I confirm that the following link to the 1.00 bios worked for me: https://mega.nz/#!VgMWVZjZ!SgSzryJkn89RWMidg_Um8Ab1wgDnZ8JWGwgK-yR2dj8
Unzip the contents of the folder to c:\update_android - If you have Mirek190 v7 installed it will have Supersu and USB debugging already enabled for you. Execute c:\update_android\android\Update_Android.bat with the tablet booted to Android. Note that there is two Update_Android.bat files. Makes sure to use the one in c:\update_android\android\
3. After the successful flash, connect a powered usb hub to the tablet via OTG cable. Connect a keyboard and USB stick to the hub. Follow instructions from Techtablets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLjayeQJg4Q
In order for a successful Windows 10 install you need Rufus and a 32bit copy of Windows 10. I used en_windows_10_enterprise_x86_dvd_6851156.iso. Create the USB key with Rufus and make sure to choose GPT partitioning.
4. After everything is set up, install drivers for Win10 Air 3G from Techtablets
5. Android should have around 5GB of space and Windows will end up with 15GB of free space. It's good practice to install software to an external SD. Especially WIn10 can run out of space quickly with all the updates it loves doing.
Hope this helps someone

ORIGINAL POST FEB 2016
Hey guys,
I just installed the following bios and rom to my Air III M5C5. I switched back from Windows because Windows was somehow buggy and didn't have much to offer for tablets:
I followed Kuba's advice ( http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/best-rom-for-x98-iii-m5c5/#post-25075 ) about best rom and bios for M5C5:
DOWNLOAD ROM https://mega.nz/#!8s92TbCR!w-vVyqbnqVf3p3YJP_obj2xRm_7f7sx9YMqVhLm4hXA
DOWNLOAD BIOS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65166671&postcount=87 (thanks to skubidoo)
You will also need Mirek's ROM: http://techtablets.com/wpfb-file/x98_air_2_android_5-0_mirek190_v5-0-ultra-light-7z/
I can confirm my X98 works better than ever! Both cameras are working and the device feels snappier than the original Teclast Android rom that came with my device. The rom is the official Teclast X98 Air III rom for recently shipped devices. Thanks to guvno for making this available to everybody! I first thought I will install the debloated Google Now rom for the air iii but since this is based on the original Teclast rom that I used to run, it wouldn't have been an improvement in terms of speed.
Here's how to install the ROM
PREFERRED METHOD TO GET THE RIGHT BATTERY DISPLAY:
- Prepare guznos rom for MFT:
Go to folder "X98_Air_2_android_5.0_mirek190_v7.0-ultra-light" - "ROM-backup"
Copy and replace droidboot.img, efilinux-userdebug.efi, flash-full_with_REPARTITION.xml and installer.cmd to the guzno folder.
- Install MFT software following tecknight's tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62823546&postcount=6)
- Now start MFT and select "flash-full_with_REPARTITION.xml" from the guzno folder.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD:
- Install the drivers IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.10.0.exe and IntelDnXUSBDriverSetup.exe in Win7 from "X98+Air+III(M5C5)+-+guvno"
- I put my device in DNX mode (holding down vol up, vol down and power when tablet is switched off)
- Used the batch file "flash_rom.bat" from "X98+Air+III(M5C5)+-+guvno" which then installed a freshly rooted rom of android.
Here's how to install the BIOS
I downloaded X98_Air_2_android_5.0_mirek190_v7.0-ultra-light, replaced /data/BIOS/2-05.bin with the one from the above mentioned link (https://mega.nz/#!dYxVTQrL!J9h-bk-hWzE80UK2MSzRd2CBiAoYY8TF6XXr-JwpgdU). Then I launched FLASH_tool_Teclast_x98_air_devices-v3.0, hit 4, then hit 2 and select 2.05. IMPORTANT Make sure you select only this version and make sure you replaced the right file. Be very careful with this step because if you accidentally flash the bios from the Air II to your Air III, it can brick your device!
For me, it worked correctly and updated my M5C5 to the most recent BIOS. You can tell because the tablet doesnt start up displaying chinese letters anymore but instead showing the latin letters TECLAST
If you want to keep your Windows installation I believe you have to change partition.tbl but not sure how this would work. I'm Android only now.
please can you post a screenshot of the device versions (Android Version, Kernel-, Build-Number, etc.)?
Thanks,
Android 5.0, build number is V1.00_20151204, kernel version 3.10.2 (December 7th 2015 10:50:43 CST).

Try to disable gravitybox if you are using it. That helped for me on the flickering issue on mirek's v7.0 rom
So is this new stock rom worth switching? what about ui fluididy and battery calibration problems? has anyone tested it, who really does know the problems of the other available roms?

Right, there is no gravitybox in stock ROM.
The battery status is fine for me, the only thing which is not 100% OK for me (beside this flickering) is the touch screen sensitivity.
Some times a have to touch twice for reaction - is this normal for this screen?
battery is reporting the correct values and i don't seem to have the flickering problem. i'm very happy with my Air III now, it's a big improvement in UI responsiveness to the original one. i didn't notice any problems with sensitivity...

Glad this ROM was usefull to more than just myself. Thanks to ionioni and hordarian for the adb commands on dumping and packaging the dump files to a flash package.
I myself was using custom ROMs until one of my units came with a clean AOSP ROM which this is. Finally Teclast has started to supply their customers with this instead of their bloated versions. All manufacturers should do this IMO. Release their own customized version to the general public but give the tekkies a clean AOSP version to play with ☺
For me the best rom is android 4.4 mirek version or other.
With android 5.0 battery drain so fast, just try android 4.4
My bios is dualboot V1.00. (m5c5)
i noticed the flickering notification bar today in google photos and tapatalk when scrolling. clearing notifications seemed to get rid of the problem. considering all the problems i had with tablet in the past ( battery drainage, random freezes, screen unresponsive, slow scrolling, lagging, constant driver installations and updates in win10) this wont bug me much.

Right?
You can fix the flicker by checking "disable hw overlays" in developer options. It doest seem to have major disadvantages turning this on from what I gathered...you basically force the use of the GPU for screen compositing which might free up the CPU but might have some unwanted side effects like obstructed image rendering. I think you have to turn it back on after restart or use a script like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/disable-hw-overlays-force-gpu-rendering-t2227089/page2

If you use the flash ROM batch file with the standard partition table it will completely reset your tablet. So no, it shouldn't matter. I had windows installed and it just repartitioned the tablet.

phone crashing issue

So, question.... This might not be a Rom issue. But I figured I would ask. Has anyone been having issues of the phone crashing and completely shutting down when you open the camera app.... Or any camera app? I've found two ways to get the phone back on after this happens. You can pull the battery and restart... Or plug the phone into any charger and after a second it will show you the battery w lightning bolt.... Then show its charging normally with the phone off... Then you can reboot.
Now things to point out.... It doesn't matter if the battery is at 96%....or 46%.....this still happens. Also, I just bought a brand new battery for the phone maybe a month ago, and it's still doing the same thing....
Another also.... I kept thinking this was a hardware issue.... And had tmobile replace the phone.... This is my 4th phone... And they've all been doing the same things.
I also thought this could have been a conflicting app issue. So I uninstalled almost everything that I don't use and still have been having the same problem..... So.... Anyone? Any thoughts? Thanks
My phone is rooted , running [ROM] Maximum OvrDriVE 6.0.1 MM V3.2 (8/24/16) [910T/910W8/910T3] Running update 3.5

Thanks

For folks to assist, you will need to provide basic info like rooted or no what firmware are you on, what model of note 4 etc....
I have the exact same problem with OP and will also have chance of crashing if you open Facebook or FB Messenger or Google Chrome. Sometimes it will die instantly around 80% where once die on 90%+ when trying to take a picture using stock camera apps. When it die you see a quick less-than-second horizontal matrix line.
Some detail of my current phone is as below:
Model: SM-N910T3
Android OS: 6.0.1
Baseband: N910T3UVU3EPJ2
Kernel: 3.10.40-9385989 ; [email protected] #1 ; Wed Oct 12 15:31:09 KST 2016
Build No.: MMB29M.N910T3UVU3EPJ2
Root Status: None (Never rooted)
Firmware: Stock ROM (Never flashed Custom ROM, flashed latest Stock ROM once, success)
The problem occur when I get OTA update from LL to MM. Few months later update again through OTA to current firmware but problem still occur. Then tried factory reset but didn't solve the problem. I thought of bad update download with OTA, so I download the latest firmware on SamMobile and flash it with Odin3.11.1 hoping will fix the problem. It didn't fix the problem, but I seen some new apps shown up as below:
- Android System WebView
- Beaming Service for Samsung
- ANT Radio Service
- ANT+ Plugins Service
- Briefing for Samsung (Update) <--- Exact apps name shown in Google Play
None of these apps were what I'm aware of even after I did the latest OTA updates. I hope anyone can help troubleshooting this issue as this is really annoying and now I have to always carry a power bank with me. For now I will try to re-download the firmware again and see if that will help although I doubt it will. Many thanks in advance!

Also I have the same issue as the OP in the link below with the same battery usage drop picture.

I go through the whole thread but none of the solution work. Though it might be helpful to post it here.

You can try..
Odin will either let you or not!
I find it hard to mess up the device, I've tried lol...
But that's just me!!!
It's yours to risk...
I'm currently on the T2 firmware!
After update to EPJ2, my Note is crashing too. Seems like there is a heekup in a processing power/ram. It lags for a moment and shuts down. So far this happened with Camera app, Chrome, Facebook, and a few other apps. Sometimes I would get "emmc read fail" or something along the lines and the phone would not boot. The only thing that seems to be MORE stable is Dirty Unicorns ROM, anything based of the STOCK or any Samsung ROM crashing.
Same issue: Note 4 restarts itself, many times.
This is my first post. I have the same problem with my Note 4: Bought it new a month ago (via eBay with 30 days warranty, then cannot return or exchange). The phone restarts itself many times, especially when I use the camera. A friend suggested me to download the stock ROM (N910TUVU2EPJ2) and use ODIN. Now, as long as I slow a bit, pressing and wait then the phone is okay. If I press anything fast, many times, then it restarts itself again. Seems like the RAM is dead. I have read somewhere that we can downgrade from N910TUVU2EPJ2 (version 6.0.1) to N910TUVU2DOK2 (version 5.0.1) and it runs smoother. Anyone has any idea, please help. If downgrading to the DOK2 can solve the problem, please let me know. Thank you for this great forum.

Use GPE Firmware to avoid bugs in Android 7 Roms

Hi guys, as a lot of people now confirmed to me that it solved their problems complete when they switched to the GPE Firmware i think it is a good thing to write all that in a little own thread so not every user has to spam for the same bugs in all Android N Rom Threads.
First of all, YOU NEED TO HAVE S-OFF to flash Firmware files!!!
Using the GPE Firmware can solve the following bugs (thats no guarantee there can still be bugs in the Rom+Kernel):
-In Call Sound problems
-Camera Problems
-Mobile data problems
-wifi problems
-battery problems
Those bugs where already existing when the first Android 6 (M) Roms came to our M7 and with Android 7 (N) its still the same. But, those bugs are mostly present while using a Custom Rom on a Sense Firmware and they are nearly complete gone when you use the GPE Firmware.
Thanks to the Slim Jim Guy we have everything we need already here in the Forum. And please be that nice just give him a thanks for his thread as it helps us all a lot. Here is his Post and here is the direct download of his complete prepared Firmware without recovery and boot img GPE Firmware Download. It will delete nothing from your device, just changes the Firmware.
This Firmware is complete different to the one from HTC and is newer because Google provided much longer official updates for the m7 GPE than HTC did for the usual version.
Changed OP for complete Firmware file from Slim Jim Guy (thanks to maciclazar for this information)
just a little bump as a reminder haha
So if I understood right, it's better to have gpe firmware if I have a nougat ROM even if my phone is not GPE?

Like written in OP "First of all, YOU NEED TO HAVE S-OFF to flash Firmware files!!!"
@saturday_night I was using that firmware from Santod040's thread for months until I realised it was not full firmware.
The full GPE firmware is located in this post by Slim Jim Guy. It is full firmware containing hboot, radio and everything else and will turn you phone in full GPE device and the best thing is it fixes random reboots on nougat and marshmallow roms.
Edit: Never mind. Found the answer I was looking for.

Exactly, link of post #1 is the black hboot 1.54 only
Would this work for Android N ROMs with the international variant? Running Xenon 7.1 ATM.
Not sure what's wrong. I've flashed GPE firmware, got a new battery, still phone does this awful thing Could be mainboard problem? How can I test motherboard?
Thanks

What ROM are you using right now, how did you get S-OFF?
Yesterday I've turned back to stock GPE 5.1, hoping that it's a ROM problem, but still my phone shuts down by itself, even at 90%. S-OFF I gained a few years ago, in 2014 I think. Rumrunner if I remember right.
@umbyka are you able to completely drain the battery to zero, then, without powering the phone back on, connect it to a charger and let it charge to 100%?

Yes, I'm able. So..I did turn back to 5.1 GPE, full stock, seems that, with this ROM, everything is normal. Didn't mention, that with all N ROMs the phone went so hot, that it was almost burning, but with 5.1 GPE it doesn't. I did this HTC said battery calibration, with both volume buttons + power button for 2 minutes also. Hopefully it's not a mainboard issue after all...

This is a hardware problem and not software related. When HTC made the first OTA Updates the device became too hot during the update process so that some camera modules got a little damage which caused this purple pictures. If it wasnt repaired under guarantee the only way for you to get this fixed is replace the camera module.

right...but what exactly would the camera fix be if i flash gpe?
So, I haven't been around for a while now, but I'll share with you the problems I have :
Even with GPE ROM phone shuts itself down sometimes even at 70% battery, sometimes it lasts till 20%. When it shuts down itself, turning it back on seems to get a problem. Normally it should get back on with all my settings saved, I mean background, ringtones, etc., but it starts with a message : Android is optimising apps..., and when it boots up finally, everything is gone. I mean background, ringtones, passwords. So, anybody has a clue what's going on?

Did you clean flash everything including firmware? If yes, that sounds like a hardware damage
