1. Download flashtool & stock ftf file of sony c6603.

Pull your battery out. Run the flashtool, click the lightning button and flash in fastboot (the first option) and then select the ftf file for 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 (there's a thread in the development section with the FTF files).
Flash (and leave the boxes as they are ) --> Once it prepares the phone for flashing, it will ask you to to connect the phone in fastboot mode.
DONT TOUCH THE POWER BUTTON
Hold the volume down button while plugging in the cable. It should flash.
Let me know if it worked.

THANK YOU DJpeesh,
you saved my day:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
followed your instructions ( 1e option flashmode with battery still removed ) an successfuly flashed phone.
I think it went wrong when I flashed boot.img file from cmw recovery with fastboot from cl when phone was also still connected throw Flashtool.
I use all linux tools (flashtool, adb, fastboot , doomlord-rooting kit)
ps By your opinion, is it still save to follow intructions on the link in my first post to get my xperia zR on latest firmware and have root access?
Jackman17. Try updating through Sony update service and then use vroot (can send you thread link later).
I'm running 4.2.2 and I'm rooted.

Please help to unbrick my xperia z

I am in an awkward situation.
xperia z, 4.2.2 244 rooted stock rom, bootloader locked, usb debug mode off, recovery not installed.
I accidentally corrupted build.prop and the phone bricked.
I cannot use flashtool to flash the stock rom back because usb debug mode is off.
I cannot use Sony update service Pro to force update because it said that "your phone already has the latest available software installed".
I cannot use PC Companion to repair because the software said that "Sony update engine doesn't have software available for your phone".
Please help.

You can use Flashtool to flash stock rom, doesn't matter if usb debug mode is on or off (only needed to install recovery or to root)
Download stock rom, install flashtool + drivers and follow screen instructions.. Good Luck! :good:

Just follow the flashtool instruction and re-flash the stock rom first, everything will return to unroot stated. Reroot then and try again.

The above didn't work for me because I received error based on my type of phone.
This guide however did help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
I had to reboot windows to a settings to enable unsigned drivers. Installed Flashtool and it's drivers,
First unlocked the bootloader(BLU button, got the IMEI, used the sony form (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions))
Then I downloaded the stock sony xperia z ftf image, placed it in Flashtool's firmware folder, then flashed it (flash device > flash mode).
Now my phone's working again.

If you still can enter custom recovery, you only need flash rom and (with) suitable kernel.
If not, you need Flashtool.
- make sure you have the newest version of flashtool and driver
- connect your phone to pc.
- when computer show error about usb not recognized, go to computer management - device manager. Find something in universal serial bus controller list that have yellow triangle and exclamation mark. right click and remove it
- disconnect your phone then reboot your pc
- install flashtool and driver, reboot pc again
- connect your phone to pc. Now, it should detect your phone.
- do flashing procedure

no it says no device connected
You have to push Hard reset button (red button just near the SIM card) until phone vibrates 3 times. Then you push volume down button and then connect PC microUSB cable into the correct connector on your Z1.
Flashtool should see your phone. Then you can flash with flashtool back to your previous (stock ?) ROM.

Strange. Did you connect the usb cable to your phone AND maintain volume down button?
Because USB debugging OFF is only when your phone has started Android. When in Flashmode Android is not started.
So after pushing red hard power off button and phone vibrates 3times (it's important it vibrates 3 times) :
- close and restart Flashtool on your computer,
- choose Flash button (strike icon), choose the FTF of the stock firmware then validate and then check 'Flashmode' then OK, it will work few seconds and bring you a new screen explaining you how to get into flash mode with a phone and cable in a Window,
- take your USB cable in left hand,
- push down volume button with your right hand
- connect your cable in micro USB port AND maintain volume down for a few seconds
I decomposed the steps because it is important not to wait too long when connecting cable onto your device and launching Flashtool (that's why I prefer to launch it before, as described above), because if the phone detects current in its usb port, it starts system. It is important to be ready and having Flashtool launched BEFORE plugging the cable.
Send the results.

That's quite wierd. The fact that phone's LED becomes red is a good sign, i.e. going to flashmode.
IS it Flashtool saying the phone is in USB debugging ? If not, you can then flash after the LED ran red with flashtool.
Flashtool may say it's USB debugging OFF if Android is booted.
If in flashmode, Flashtool should say :
03/043/2015 15:43:18 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode

Have you tried fastboot? Volume up while plugging cable.
Perhaps you can flash a boot.img from there and use recovery at least.
This is what happens to my phone when the kernel fails to flash, usually after restoring a nandroid.

Ok you shouldn't have that in your flashtool log.
Without the phone connected to the PC, you should have the following message, especially "Please connect your device into flashmode" :
03/049/2015 16:49:48 - INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia Z1 (C6903). FW release : 14.4.A.0.108. Customization : Generic FR 1276-5833_R5C
03/049/2015 16:49:48 - INFO - Preparing files for flashing
03/050/2015 16:50:49 - INFO - Please connect your device into flashmode.
From my point of view, it doesn't seem your phone is powered off.
Then to Power Off hard press the red button near sim card, just above the chrome power button until phone vibrates 3 times :
(extract from the "basics" thread of the following post by the excellent DooMLoRD : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440565).
Then do the steps I gave you before.

Ok dude. Sorry but I can't help you anymore. Maybe advanced developpers could. My knowledge on flashing Z1 is 2 days old only
FYI, my LED is blinking 1 time red and 1 time green very quickly when I power on my Z1 in flashmode. Nothing on screen, but Flashtool detects my device in Flashmode.
Maybe, as proposed by markuz85, you should try Fastboot mode (volume up instead of volume down)... but I never tried this and I won't be helpful on that.
Good luck and tell us if you have got something.

I used FlashTool to flash Sony Z3+ E6553 and now phone cannot power on at all. When I plug in to PC, PC can detect but flashtool cannot flash anymore. The phone was working fine, only has phone lock. Please help revise the phone. Thanks.

Battery was fully charged and I've tried that but phone does not response at all to flashtool. When plug in to PC, in device manager under USB controllers, it sees it as SOMC Flash Drive. I think the phone boot is dead.

Listen, start flashtool again and hit flash and when pop up windows show press and hold volume down button and connect phone to cable. It should to install so called s1 boot driver(SEMC flash device)Do like I said and see what happends when you connect phone to cable.
If pc install any driver start flashtool again and try to flash again.
Before everything, try to press and hold power and volume up buttoins for more time, about 15 seconds and see did he vibrate.

Thanks for your help...The phone was flashed successfully with flash tool with flash file E6553_28.0.A.4.8. After flash done, phone was dead, cannot power on anymore. Now when I tried to flash it again, volume down, insert USB the flashtool show as: Device detected with USB debugging off. It doesn't go to flash mode anymore. I took the back cover off, remove battery connector flex cable and connect it back and try flashing many times but flashtool will not detect phone in flash mode..PC can detect phone because it makes connecting sound on PC but detects as what mode I don't know. In device manager, it doesn't show any device in com port but it shows SOMC Flash Device in USB controllers. I tried to press volume up + power but nothing happened. Once again thanks for your help.

As I understood, you tried to downgrade. Am I right? I heard that sometimes downgrading causes hard brick. I don't know how to fix it but only option is bringing service.
