Just curious if any of the custom ROMs that aren't based on stock support Active display or Moto Voice? I haven't seen anything listed in the ROM posts.
Since Moto moved all the features to their own apps is it possible to just install them and it work?
Thanks.
Most of the Custom ROMs are CM12 based or AOSP based which doesn't utilize the X8 chipset architecture.

Hi.
I don't get it. Moto x has x8 chipset. But customs roms does not utilizate it. This make me think that custom roms are not optimized for this device, so they should not be flashed. Am I right?
I'm new to this moto. I only want to learn.

Previously I owned a rooted Xperia arc. At that time, almost all custom roms used to mention supporting kernels. But here in Z1 development, I found that Custom Roms don't mention whether they run on stock kernel or DEV Kernel.
I want to know it because if custom roms are running on stock, then I skip Unlocking the boot-loader. If they running on DEV kernels, how ll I know which kernel for which rom ??

reply me with the link of the rom that you want to install & i will help you to see which kernel it use.
I have used all sorts of devices over the years, everything from Nexi, to the HP Touchpad and I have never seen such a dead AOSP community. Even on the Droid DNA there were multiple kernels to chose from that worked on AOSP based ROMs. I am currently running Insert Coin on my GSM M7, but I really miss AOSP. Liquidsmooth and CM11 are both out and updated for this device, but the accompanying kernels (I need SW2W and D2TW) are incredibly buggy.
So whats up with the M7? Does nobody use AOSP based ROMs?
Why not just use one of the GPE ROMs? Or do a full conversion? Then you have an officially supported Nexus like build and can run the GPE kernels and mods. I find it to be rock solid stable even while undervolted and overclocked.

Hello all,
Is there any possible way to port the motorola apps (Moto Display, Camera etc.) to a Moto X running AOSP based ROM like CM?
The Source of the Moto X, doesn't come the sources of this apps?
Thanks
You would need the framework from Motorola's firmware. Besides, the stock firmware is far more stable than any AOSP-based ROM. What does CM so for you that Xposed can't?
I think the problem here is the 5.0 update and the switch to art. That means no xposed. So if somebody mixed cm customization with stock stability and functions, we'd have a real winner.

Actually I can have all i need with xposed, but someday we'll not receive anymore updates(maybe in a year?), and this phone I think will last for more 3 years, I wish to have latest Android , but with our unique features.
AOSP based and cm based ROMs haven't been stable as of now,it doesn't mean it lessens affort of developers like akhil or varun but we need stock based ROMs in the meantime if you see nexus 5 forum there you have "catacalysm"
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-cataclysm-nexus-5-t2518660)which is most appropriated rom over there. It is essentially a stock rom modified with some gravitybox like features .It even supports RRO layERS. I am not a dev by any mean don't have computer to try out these things but we have well more than capable developers who could develop such ROMs quite easily. What do you think is it worth it?
hi. so i see a lot of roms being posted, but they're all custom roms. is there anything that's just pure google, or very minimal customizations for the X522 model? thanks a lot
