The other night my AT&T Moto X 2nd Generation died before I could get to a charger. When I charged it up, it would try to boot up again and again and it would just go to the first screen with the Motorola logo in the blue circle. I put it in fastboot mode and tried to boot up that way, but same result. So then I tried recovery mode and wiping the data and factory resetting it, but that wouldn't exactly work either. It would start to erase everything, but then it would just display the green robot with the red triangle above, no text below it. After it sat there for a second the screen would start to flicker until I touched the button to go back to recovery mode. Back in recovery mode it displayed the error message. So bottom line is, it won't boot up and I haven't rooted it or unlocked the bootloader. What direction do I need to go in?
Thanks guys.
P.S. -- I also haven't updated it since early this year, so it may not be running the newest version of lollipop. Here's a few pieces of information
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

This may be a simple fix but I just can't seem to find the right information for me. I just need to get this phone back up and running.
Try flashing the stock firmware:

The download didn't work because it failed to start but I'll look around for another one. I can do this without rooting or unlocking anything?
So I downloaded a version but now the problem is getting it on the device so I can flash it. I can't unlock my bootloader so I can't use TWRP, but more importantly I can't move any files via adb. Ideas?

Search these forums for how to restore to stock. You don't transfer this file to your phone. You can use fastboot to flash it or rsdlite.

I seemed to have foolishly load either an incorrect radio or just managed to mess up my phone.
The Bad:
While trying to load a new RUU it finished but then phone just is just stuck in loop with HTC plash screen flashing up and restarting.
I did have it s-off but in my efforts to sort problem out it is now s-on again.
Revolutionary cant find the device to put it back to s-off although windows can see it in both fastboot and hboot modes.
When I select anything other than fastboot, HBoot USB or image crc in hboot screen it just restarts.
The Good:
I have a backup done from clockworkmod.
It will run an P32IMG.zip file if I put it on sdcard but I just haven't found one that fixes by problem.
The Details:
hboot: 1.09
radio: 3805.04.03.27_m
S-On
carrier unlocked
Original carrier: BELL
Any ideas? I have tried many suggestion on these forums but I suspect that I'm missing something along the line.
Thanks in advance.
I think my phone is bricked
My phone is rooted with revolutionary.
I was downloading some games on the market and then i locked my phone, when i unlocked my phone i couldn't do anything so i removed my battery. When i restarted my phone it stuck on a white screen with HTC written on it. Then after like 5 min my phone shut down and then it restarted. Then the revolutionary screen popped up and it said:
Revolutionary CWM v.4.0.1.4
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
What do i need to do??
I don't know anything about update from sdcard and stuff so tell me how to do it please!

Please do not triple post by hijacking threads. You have an answer on one of the other duplicate posts.
Try and put a new bootloader from here :
Code:
http://d-h.st/users/Inferi0r/?fld_id=2599#files
I suggest HBOOT-2.02.0002 S-OFF Blackrose
That should solve the S-off issue , after that just flash a new ROM
Also that's a very old radio I suggest updating it.
You can also find the radio section in the link above
Just answer the following question before we can help you
is your bootloader Unlocked..???(bootlader not the S-on thingy)
are you able to successfully boot into recovery..????
I also had this fault, but there was nothing wrong, all work properly (wipe, and rom install).
hi please help!! after i s-off and got CWM and installed ics rom, i tried to update the radio but for some reason i mistakenly updated the radio through the bootloader, so now i just got htc white screen looping what do i need to do?
thanks

First thing you need to do is get the PG32IMG.zip file deleted from your sd card. That is probably preventing you from getting back into CWM recovery, right?
i have remove the PG32IMG.zip in my sdcard already. but have flashed it back then i think that the thing thats preventing.
already working just fastboot flash anther radio haha

Hello, I managed to unlock my bootloader and root my phone using cwm touch [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863]. All was going well. I decided to get cm12 nightly edition [http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...m-cyanogenmod-12-official-nightlies-t2995218]. I followed the instructions, but i was stuck at a bootloop (my phone is S-On, so I had to follow the extra instructions).
I realized while flashing a second time that there were error messages such as "failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1" and "unmount of /system failed; no such volume". I recall uninstalling htc sync manager so as to make my phone s-off, but i didnt bother doing anything else to s-off. I later realized that my phone didnt show up as a usb device although it was detected, meaning that I can't copy roms to the internal storage. I decided to try the command prompt method of flashing the image and then installing it in cwm, but when I was installing the GApps [http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-updated-gapps-basic-medium-t3070193] ( the medium package), cwm is stuck at "Unmounting system partition". I'm now bat**** scared because I really do not want to mess with system stuff, so I am going to sleep and wait for help. Please help me, this is my first time doing any of this rooting business, please.

Thank you for the replies, but what do I do now? Like the phone is literally stuck at "Unmounting system partition". Do I force shutdown?
Edit: Also, how do I flash twrp if I can't get my usb to work?
Edit 2: I managed to stop the "unmounting system partition" thing by pulling out my usb. But my phone still doesn't show up as usb so how do I get twrp? If I boot it will go to a bootloop
Edit 3: I managed to flash twrp using the adb thing, didnt have to mount usb. ( I still cant mount usb tho, how do I get that?
Edit 4: INSTALLED CM12 PROPERLY AND BOOTED!! THANKS FOR TELLING ME TO GET TWRP GUYS! My usb still doesnt mount, don't know why (mtp is enabled). Also, I keep getting an "Unfortunately google play services has stopped" notificaion.
Edit 5: When I rebooted my phone it asked me again what I wanted to do with the device then I clicked open with explorer and it worked. Then, I transferred Gapps minimal edition (to get play services again) and then flashed it with twrp. everything works! thanks
Well, I really did it this time. In my efforts of messing with the M Preview build and trying to eliminate the "verification failed" startup message I made the mistake of locking the bootloader. Now the phone will not boot into Android or into Recovery. I'm stuck in Bootloader and it won't let me "fastboot OEM unlock" the device because in order to do this you need to boot into Android and tick the box to allow OEM unlocking (which I also unticked before getting into this mess, like an idiot).
EDIT: Got it resolved!
In order to get into Recovery I had to use the following commands in the bootloader:
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata
After doing this I was able to boot into recovery. However, recovery showed 0MB available storage and wouldn't mount /data, which prevented me from installing anything. It also wouldn't allow me to copy anything to the SD card using Android File Transfer or ADB sideloading.
To solve this I went into "Wipe" while in recovery and did a full format (the one that requires you to type "yes" before proceeding"
After doing this and booting back into recovery, I had full storage space back and recovery was able to mount /data. At this point I just copy/pasted the 5.1.1 ROM onto the sdcard with Android File Transfer. Once installed, I flashed the ROM and it booted right up.
I then skipped through the setup to get to settings and in developer settings I ticked the box to allow OEM unlocking. After doing that, I booted back into the bootloader and used the fastboot command "fastboot oem unlock" to unlock the bootloader again.
Once that was done I was able to use fastboot commands to flash the M preview all over again.
Hopefully you don't find yourself in this mess, but if you do, I'm hoping the above solution works for you.

Is TWRP installed?
WAIT!!
I did the following:
- fastboot format cache
- fastboot format userdata
And the phone now boots into TWRP. It won't boot fully but it will boot into recovery. I'm trying to sideload a ROM now but I can't access the storage.
Edit: enabled ADB sideload so I can ADB push a ROM to the SD card to flash. Does anyone know the exact root folder name for the sd card to pusht he ROM to? Is it /data/media/?
I did something similar this past weekend while trying to do the 5.1.1 upgrade with the OTA files before the Factory images were available.
Try and use the WugFresh tool to wipe the cache and such, and try some of the other obvious settings in the tool.
It was late and I'm not 100% sure what I did but I do remember reflashing the LRX22C from the factory image using the tool. Everything I did was from the tool minus the 5.1 OTA that came through once I was able to get back into the device. From there I was able to unlock the bootloader again.
I was worried myself that I might have to send the phone back but I just kept trying, don't give up just yet. I've been told many times it's almost impossible to brick an android device now a days.
Good luck!

Assuming you tried ticking data in twrp mounts...
In twrp, try and format data again. If that fails, try to format it as another file system such as f2fs before formatting it back to ext4

Success!
TWRP was also reporting 0mb available storage. I went into Wipe and performed a full format. Booted back into recovery and storage was showingt he full amount again. I was then able to plug the phone in and enable MTP and drag/drop the 5.1.1 ROM onto the SD card. Just flashed it and it booted right up!
I'm going to update the OP with all this info just in case someone else runs into the issue and needs help.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I faced the same condition like you experienced, with some differences:
- the phone stuck in "Google" logo
- stock recovery is accessible from bootloader
- I am unable to mount sdcard or install rom from sd card, but could conduct adb sideload
However, am stuck with verifying update package showing :
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
any ideas what to do next?
================ edited- add below info on how I got stuck
So my N6 was still on 5.0 (has not been updated to 5.1). I decided to try the M preview. I downloaded the preview, and began the process as follows:
1. reboot into bootloader
2. fastboot oem unlock
3. flash-all (success on loading the bootloader and radio, but error on updating the image)
4. hence i followed to flash individually:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash cache cache.img
5. and comes the stupid thing ! --> fastboot oem lock (really really regret why I did this)
6. and then once reboot, it stuck in Google logo forever
However, I am still able to access:
- bootloader (fastboot recognize the device, but wouldn't allow me to fastboot oem unlock)
- able to go to stock recovery, and as mentioned above:
I am unable to mount sdcard or install rom from sd card, but could conduct adb sideload
However, am stuck with verifying update package showing :
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
I tried to adb sideload the M preview image and 5.1 LMY47I but both showing the above error....
hope you can shed some light on this...

A solution to what? Keep in mind your problem may be different from the OP's issue, so if you want people to help you it's necessary to provide plenty of information, such as what you were trying to do, how you tried to do it, and any other information that you believe may be useful.

OK What i was trying to do was to flash a stock recovery, i start it by running the flash-it all.bat file in the factory image zip, it changed the user interface of the bootloader after first reboot and and had an error for "archive: recovery.sig not found" (something like). the phone status shows Software Version: Modified and fastboot oem unlock dont give the confirmation.
and
now my phone wont even boot to the bootloader, everything turned black. please hellp!!!!:crying::crying:
If you can't even get into the bootloader (volume down and power) you may have to have the device serviced. Do you get a response when you type "adb devices"?

Maybe it just crashed at a black screen? Does a very long press of the power button (over 10 secs) cause it to react?
Or maybe the battery is empty? Try connecting the power supply for some time.

The very dead battery is a real possibility. The thing is, using the charger that came with the phone isn't going to help. If you think the battery being dead is a possibility, you would need to plug the phone into a USB port on a PC, that is a very slow charge. Leave it on there overnight then unplug and replug. If the led at the top of the screen lights or the battery icon shows on the screen, you have hope. At this point using the original charger should get the battery going again. In this case, plan on replacing the battery.

My phone's doing the same, the flash isn't writeable. Most write operations appear to work, but no data is actually changed. I've tried wiping from recovery, I've tried formatting, deleting files, dd'ing from /dev/zero etc via adb, I've tried erasing and flashing stock rom from fastboot, but not a single byte changes. Any fix for this or should I attempt to get it replaced?

Hello XDA,
Bought my brother an XT1095 (US Pure Edition). He's not a tech savvy guy, but bottom line is that the phone began updating (unclear from which Android version to which), crashed, and is now stuck in the following boot sequence:
Motorola logo screen
Installing system update screen with Android logo (gets to about 25% before moving onto step 3)
Dead Android guy with exclamation mark
Repeat
From step 3, I'm able to get into recovery and then fastboot. Neither factory reset nor cache wipes work because "E: fails to mount /cache...etc." My brother lives in the UK (I'm with him right now) so he's unable to send the US phone for servicing (Motorola only accepts UK phones in their UK center).
The top of the recovery screen says: "LXE22.46-11"
Top of fastboot screen says: "60.11 (sha-72b218f, 2014-10-26 12:07:20)" "Device is LOCKED"
Not sure what to do since I don't even know what android version/kernel/baseband is currently installed. I have a Mac with android sdk, adb and fastboot installed.
I'd appreciate pointers to what to do next, what to flash etc.
Thanks in advance!

Tried it. Flashing fails on gpt.bin. I believe I need an unlocked bootloader, but that will void the warranty. Any way to do it without?
You don't need to unlock your bootloader to flash stock firmware.
You said it failed. That is normal, it will fail if you already have the 5.1 partition on the phone. Just continue flashing the other files.
The 2 that will fail if you already had 5.1 installed are gpt and motoboot. If those 2 fail it can be ignored safely.
