[Q] Firebird or speedmod kernel

Hello all,
I'm currently running perception 10 and I'm wondering if the included kernel (Firebird) offer better battery performance compare to speedmod (hardcore)
I tought that speedmod was offering better battery performance... but i seem to get better with firebird!
What's your opinion?

Speedmod would offer better battery becoz of all the battery tweaks in CWM recovery. And many ppl have found it to be better. But whatever Kernel you use, make sure to Recalibrate and wipe battery stats for the best battery life
Thanks man,
I wasn't sure if recalibrating was required after a Kernel Flash... But I was doubting about it, as my battery meter was acting weird today. (went from 75% to 47% in 1 hour... without using the phone lol!)
I've found that Speedmod gives me the best battery life out of any kernel I've flashed (after enabling the tweaks in CWM).
+1 for speedmod

hello -
i'm considering flashing my captivate and i'm trying to learn as much as possible before doing so.
The one thing I'm confused about, do I update the kernel before I flash the ROM or afterwards? I would like to get the speedmod kernel, but just not sure which ROM to use just yet. Could someone enlighten me? Thanks.

When u flash a ROM it comes with a kernel too. So first load the ROM of ur choice, and then flash the kernel of ur choice.
1. ROM first
2. boot up the phone
3. Kernel next
4. boot up the phone
5. now do all ur stuff
Do NOT flash a new kernel without booting up ur phone atleast once after flashing any ROM.

Help with Rom

Hi,
I tried many roms before asking for help, none of them were satisfying for me
so i thought about flashing good stock rom + semaphore kernel.
apparently it's harder than i thought it will be.
so i'm asking for a stock rom that has TW4 and does not contain all samsung apps and semaphore kernel that fits.
* im still open for suggestions about other roms.
(all i need is good battery life, speed without oc and TW4)
Thanks ahead.
I just flashed this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391756
Then I flashed semaphore 2.1.1 through ODIN
Then to top it I flashed the theme here throu cmw

[Q] enlighten me about kernels

from what i hear, speedmod is the best kernel when it comes to battery life.
i was thinking of using lanight rom for captivate but it has devil kernel. can i flash speedmod kernel to it? which is better considering that i give most priority to battery life.
also, what are the advantages of different kernels?

LANIGHT is not a Froyo ROM (2.2), therefor it won't work with speedmod.
When choosing your kernel, make sure you they support the same firmware.
To know more about each kernels, read their OP and changelogs.
