I noticed the edge plus has several extra features such as apps edge, refined icons, more camera options. I was hoping 5.1.1 would bring this upgrades to our edge.
I guess we have our IR blaster but software upgrades should carry over no? Any knowledge regarding touchwiz would be appreciated.

Considering the S5 vs the S5 Active and I know they are much more similar in specs than the S4 vs S4 Active but there are still a few differences between the two, no USB 3.0, no Fingerprint reader, adds physical menu and back buttons and is more shockproof.
So besides that is there anything else to consider like OS updates, Root or Custom ROMs?
I saw the S4 Active was limited in support for Custom ROMs that would run on S4 but not on S4 Active.
Any information or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

there is alot more custom roms for the regular s5. but either device is a flagship in this line. without considering root and roms, both are great devices.
Hi, I'm new to the android modding and hacking scene and I have a couple of broad questions I haven't found the answer to yet:
Why can't I just take the S6 camera apk and install it on my note 4?
Is there a simple way I could just trick my note 4 into looking like an S6 to the camera app and install it?
I've been experimenting with the magnetic stage in the note 4 when it comes to focusing the optics, and the S6 has manual control over lens position and therefore auto focus. I'd really like to try that manual control over the magnetic stage of the note 4. I've looked inside the camera modules and the note 4 and S6 seem to be the exact same camera module, except the S6 board is slightly different. I'm wondering if the electromagnetic stage is different or if it is just a software thing.
Is it harder than I think to port the camera app without adjusting it to work with the note 4?
Here's my thread digging into the camera modules, I can't get auto focus to work with the S6 optics and I'm running out of visible differences in the modules to test, and am beginning to look towards the software.

Hello Everyone,
Its time to change my phone finally. After eagerly waiting for the Note 5 for a while now, I was looking at the specs of the phone but, is it just me or does the S6 Edge+ specs although almost identical to the Note 5, is better? Or am I missing something here?
At almost $770 it quite a hefty investment!
They are literally identical besides the S-pen for the note5, and the curved edges on the S6 edge+. Everything else is the same. The S6 edge+ is more expensive for the same storage though, so I personally went with the Note5, as I also believe the S-pen offers more functionality than a curved screen.
From GSMArena:
Note5:
- S Pen stylus
5 MP Secondary Camera.
S6 Edge+:
- Samsung Pay (Visa, MasterCard certified)
5 MP, [email protected], dual video call, Auto HDR
These are the only different features i could see.
And you said you bought it. How?? Isn't the launch on August 21?

The Note5 has samsung pay as well, the literal only differences are the screens and the S-pen.
And yes, I bought mine last thursday when it was announced from AT&T, it arrived monday afternoon and I have been using it all day today. It's a really nice phone.
Ah... AT&T! I am planning to buy it. Lets see when its available on Expansys! Currently on pre-order there.
it's the same resolution screen on both phones the curved edge technically makes you lose some of that however. the edge gives you a couple features that aren't on the note but the note has the pen which has way more functionality than any edge screen in my opinion. i've been using my phone since yesterday and it's definitely a great device!
Yup. The S pen is really beneficial. I am gonna order it as soon as its available. Thanks!
They're slightly different screens for example the edge+ is brighter while the note has a better delta
I'm sure everyone is aware that samsung released another version of the Gear VR alongside the release of the Note7, but my question is, does anyone know if there's any substantial differences between the new one and the previous one that came out last December?
It's compatible with the S6, S6 Edge, Edge+, Note5, S7, S7 Edge, and the Note 7, but what changes (if any) would make it worth upgrading from the previous headset to this one?
(I'm currently using the S7 Edge with the older Gear VR unit, so I'm just curious as to if there would be any benefit to getting this one)

I have the new one with my N7 and it works great but the side controls are very sensitive and can be a big PiTA.
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting myself a gear vr with either a Galaxy S7, or a Edge7. I already had the chance to play around with a Gear VR and an Edge7, but I was wondering if the S7 would give a different experience due to the smaller screen? These phones have the same resolution, so the S7 has more pixels per inch, meaning a sharper image, but since the screensize is smaller, would that affect the field of view? Would I get a "smaller" screen? Or would that be a simple matter of adjusting the focus on the gear itself?
Maybe that someone has experience with both devices and can tell me the difference?
Thanks!
Hi,
I've played around with the S7 Edge and the S6. Both looked pretty similar on the Gear VR, since it zoom in the screen I do not think it'd be much of a difference - at least it wasn't very noticeable for me. However it has been some long time since I last used it, so maybe I may be confusing things.
All in all, there is not much difference between the two I think. If you have the budget go for the S7 Edge - larger battery - else the S7 will be just as great.
All the best,

Thanks for the info!
Having a larger battery is indeed something to think about...
Both of them will work perfectly but I would go with the SGS7 Edge as it has a larger battery.
