[UPDATE: 02/01/2016] VER 3 UPLOADED
Greetings fellow XDA members! Today I am sharing a little (and I mean little) project that I originally have made for my own use. After enjoying the results I figured I should share this for users who enjoy UI sounds as I do but also for users who may not be familiar with audio editing.
Note, this isn't anything crazy nor am I claiming to be an "Audio Master" lol. But anyway! I present to you...
Marshmallow Sounds; Stereophonic & Remastered
What is this you may ask? Well, basically I took all 24 UI media sounds (including the strange invalid key-press one), amplified them a fair amount and also created a "Left and Right" channel. Update! I've taken the time to actually remaster all the audio I can find for Marshmallow. By remaster, I mean that while some sounds have been amplified safely, some others have been lowered. Mono tracks have been turned into stereo tracks, and some stereo tracks have been rebalanced.
I tried to insure that ever audio track never surpasses -3db (Some do...barely due to the stereo balance differences) So this is as loud as you can get it while staying mostly safe for speakers and such.
Dislike not being able to hear your keyboard very well when you type?
Want to hear those lovely lock and unlock sounds without having to be in a whisper quiet room?
Are you annoyed by how outrageously quiet the Google/AOSP camera sounds are?
Hate the distorted sound that some ringtones have due to being too loud?
Want to preserve your phone's speakers to hopefully keep them from being damaged?
Well look no further!
[Warning] This does roughly double the file size of each sound, while I've not heard any kind of lag or delay what so ever at all during my testing, even with crazy trying and such. It is entirely possible that some sort of lag/delay could be introduced on some/slower devices. This is just a theoretical guess mind you.
Thanks to user Eun-Hjzjined for the flashable zip. Just flash the attached file via your custom recovery and all should be well. This is much easier than my previous "change each file one at a time lol.
I hope some of you get enjoyment out of this as I've never really posted a mod/audio/whatever before. haha
Thanks for sharing! Giving a try
You're welcome! Also, if anyone has any requests just let me know. The world of android could always use more high quality sounds.

And I would appreciate it if you give instructions
I'm not a noob but a little help could be great cause I haven't done this ever

Sure, you'll need root and then a file manager. I recommend FX File Explorer. You'll need to enable root access once inside of FX.
Navigate to "System (Root)"
Find system, then media, then audio, then UI, backup the ogg files that are there if you want, then replace them with my files.
Got it tnx
I'll try that out

I got no sound at all... Did I do something wrong? I replaced all files from system/media/audio/ui and restarted. After the restart I got no sound.... Do I need special permissions?

What? That's odd. Did you unlock the folder for read/write when you did that? What file explorer did you use?
I just redid mine night as I had a new rom to try.

I was using oppo ui sounds and it worked perfect, tried this and I got no more ui sounds. Tried to flash back oppo ui sounds and still don't have sound either.... Flashed my ROM again then the oppo sounds and working fine meanwhile....

That makes no sense. Are you using a nexus 6? I know this makes even less sense... But try fx file explorer
I just tried it on my older OnePlus One and it also works as intended. I would say to try FX File explorer, as that is what I used and I have no issues. Other than that, I call witchcraft lol

Now I think their "general volume" is based off the Ringer volume, which is why I HATE that system volume, ringer volume, and notification volume are force combined. If anyone was to make a rom and separate these I'd freak out big time haha. I may be able to amplify them more, but I don't want to hit the dynamic range limit and distort them.
Fwiw, sometimes when I change ui sounds on my Nexus 6 there is a delay before it starts to work. Doesn't matter if I flash or manually place the sound in the ui file.
It drove me crazy the first time it happened. Kept checking permissions and rebooting the phone without any luck. Even restoring the old ui sounds didn't work.
Gave up and an few hours later all the ui sounds were working. Doesn't occur every time I change ui sounds, but if it does I just check to make sure permissions are correct and check a few hours later to see if they are working.
Never happens with ringtones/notifications/alarms though, just ui sounds.

That's odd, so you are good now though?
It is just something I noticed when changing sounds, that sometimes there is delay when changing ui sounds. But as long as permissions are correct they eventually start to work.
It also doesn't happen every time, but it is annoying when it does since you can't test them immediately. And it only happens with ui sounds, not other sounds (ringtones, etc), but I usually but the other sounds on the sdcard folder rather than the system/media folder.

Trying it on DarkDroid right now.
ps: I'm having a error code when trying to flash it. It accuses some kind of argument error (expected 3, found 4), operation aborted. So I'm copying/pasting it inside /system
edit1: booting correctly with DarkDroid, but I didn't "feel" anything different. I'll try again once I get my PortaPros back
apparently theres been problems getting this to work from the thread i posted heres the flashable zip i downloaded and flashed
I flashed this over Mavrom, not sure i hear a difference or not through speaker on the phone but everything seems to work correctly.
Running MavROM 3.5 w/ safeboot; flashed this zip w/o error, but when I checked the system folder the files were not there. I placed them manually, rebooted, and the difference is definetly noticeable.
Edit: I flashed the zip from the original source, not the one attached in this thread
I just copied all onto /system , rebooted, got into safestrap and fixed permissions
M3 XT860
DarkDroid 1.1 (Unsafe) + Hash's ICS Beta 1 (Safe)
I really noticed the difference when I hooked it in to the speakers, car, and head phones our phone speaker isn't equipped to provide the quality this mod offers

Alright done, however I still feel like I did something wrong. Can't notice a difference. Is there anything visibly different? Like is there a setting that should be enabled or something?
Its only an equalizer really. Will only notice a real big diff with really good headphones
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk
I guess what I'm trying to ask is this: is the equalizer adjustable? Is there somewhere I can see it and change it?
I have Klipsch Image S4s so I don't think headphone quality is a problem.
Sent from my XT862 using xda premium
The headphones don't have to be really good but u probably shouldn't be looking for a difference with really cheap ones I have some Panasonic ones that only cost 14 bucks and I can hear a big difference in those,/ the biggest difference though is the car or speakers.... there's no visual difference only audible the software equalizes the music for you to get the best sound from each song so there's no need for a manual equalizer
Also are u intslling it manually? Cuz the zip I posted is a flashable one

Ahhhh ok I see now. I flashed it, but like the others, I didn't see any of the files in /system or the subfolders. I took the advice of an above poster and just copied everything (except META-INF) into the respective folders then went into safestrap and fixed permissions.
I'm not a huge audiophile so it may be different, but my ears may not recognize it. Is it because I'm used to using DSP Manager within CM9? I usually have the "Rock" equalizer set and the Bass Booster on the mid setting.
I've never used the DSP IN ICS. So I couldn't tell you if it sounds different from that I just know that from the stock ics with no equalizing was a considerable step down from the beats audio mod

Has anyone here used PowerAmp before and compared this to tuning though PowerAmp's EQ?
Also, just from looking in the .zip, there SHOULDN'T be anything found in /system/app as there is no .apk included.
I copied the files manually and I think, there there is a noticable difference. On My Milestone 2 and Droid 3 the volume didn't raise more at the last 3 steps of the volume bar. Now, especially with a headset plugged in there is a much louder sound, so loud that it hurts.
Does anyone have 2 Droid 3's and can do a comparison? Maybe with a db-meter app?
I use it with winamp and the sound difference is much better, the bass is more clear and the treble is clear. Before it sounded like one was fighting with another not anymore. I'm using Gogroove bluetooth headphones to due to my headphone jack not working.
The updater script doesn't seem to mount system. For those having trouble flashing, mount /system manually(mounts and storage>mount /system)

Hi,
Just wanted to know if anyone else besides me are having problems with CM10 cm-10-20130310 build?
- The speaker volume is low, call volume is low
- bluetooth skips, disconnects and connects randomly
- SD card mounting -(known issue)
When I play music or other audio the volume is fine.
thanks!
I get the skipping... I found if you turn the processor minimum speed to 384 it happens less frequent (on slacker radio anyway)
The random disconnects only happen when I try to switch song manually.. and not all the time...
For call volume... I just turn the radio way up. (21 for music... 40 for calls)

I didn't know the audio was much of an issue, because it wasn't listed in the list of bugs..
or perhaps I didn't have a deep look in the latest release.
I switched from the Holics ROM and now I don't feel like going back to the Holics ROM.....
Can't afford to carry a big radio around.. ha ha :silly: Guess I will have to wait for more updates and fixes..

Yeah the rom has some bugs I'd recommend switching to another till the problems get fixed. If you dont hollics, try broked rom or pacman thou with broked rom in call volume is a little low.Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery to see if something changes?Sometimes it weirdly fixes those things.

permissions with recovery? what do you mean by that?
Can you please explain, thanks!
Horlics was the rom I was using prior to the CM10 update, the most stable rom by far.
I just like the 4.1 GUI much more.
I am going to try the paranoid now and see how it works .. :/

If you run recovery and go to the development section or advance section, depending on the recovery you have, theres an option for fixing permissions and that should fix force closes and other issues.

From all the jb roms I've tried, that rom is the most stable and has few bug compared to the other jb roms. Bluetooth skipping no, at least that I've noticed but audio only in call vol that is relatively low but not unbearable.
All of the jb Roma have no bugs at all other than incall audio and maybe Bluetooth. The user causes the problem, not the rom

Stereophonic / Remastered Android Audio
Greeting fellow XDA'ers (?)
It's long overdue, but Stereophonic / Remastered Android Audio will be updated soon for 2020! I'm working on adding some new phones, and also have my sights set on adding Android 9 and 10.
Remastered Audio! What do I mean by remastered you may ask? Some sounds have been amplified, safely, some others have been de-amplified to less harsh levels based on manual listening and adjusting sessions. Mono tracks have been turned into stereo tracks, and some stereo tracks have been rebalanced to give better total output. I tried to insure that all audio tracks never surpasses -3db as a rule of thumb. The goal is to get as loud as COMFORTABLY possible or to LOWER the volume on some audio so it doesn't sound like your phone's speaker is exploding.
Basically...
Dislike not being able to hear your keyboard very well when you type?
Want to hear those lovely lock and unlock sounds without having to be in a whisper quiet room? (I know I do)
Are you annoyed by how outrageously quiet the camera sounds are?
Hate the distorted rattle sound that some ringtones cause due to being too loud?
Want to add a crap ton of new and cool sounds to your phone?
Want to preserve your phone's speakers to hopefully keep them from being damaged? (In theory)
Well look no further!
[Warning] This process does increase the file size of most audio files, while I've not heard any kind of lag or delay what so ever at all during my testing, even with crazy trying and such. It is entirely possible that some sort of lag/delay could be introduced on some/slower devices. This is just a theoretical guess mind you.
Thanks to user Eun-Hjzjined for the flashable zip. Just flash the attached file via your custom recovery and all should be well.
ALSO
Always looking for new system media dumps from new phones or new Android versions to remaster and add to the project! Feel free to send em my way!
I hope some of you get enjoyment out of this. I originally did it for myself, but felt that others like myself may want to enjoy better audio.
Thanks all!

Internet here is slow mate! Haha. Sorry
Logo is up!
So if I wanted to try this, I just flash in recovery. To get back to stock do I just flash the ROM again.
I have a general question for you:
I run most often PureNexus or another close variant and flashing this over my current setup (latest PureNexus) the names are the same but the actual sounds are different. They are remastered properly and sound really good, but it is almost like the names of the ringtones I know are not the stock ones that you remastered. Is there a reason why the sound files all have different names and different sounds across ROMs or is that an AOSP thing? I know CM has completely different ringtones and names, but just AOSP there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what name goes with what sound.

Basically yes, though you could backup your current sounds with a root file explorer. But honestly I am 99% sure you won't feel the need to switch back.

That is kind of what I thought. My favorite ringtone in stock PureNexus is Phobos (also one of my favorite rounds in Quake 3) and if I ever find out the actual name for that ringtone I'm going to request you to amplify it for me. Thanks for letting me know though and thank you sincerely for doing this. I can finally hear actions, like screen touches, without having to crank the volume :good:

I got it. I found it in a version of Skydragon ROM for the Nexus 6. I'm seriously starting to think that different Nexus phones (made by separate manufacturers) have different released sounds. Either way, I attached a zip, could I trouble you to perhaps to make this ringtone awesome like the others and I will track down the Jasmine ringtone for you? Thank you for this
Went through just a few folders (screenshot attached) but I found the notification called "Jasmine" that was released for the HTC One in one of the XDA community's audio ripping extravaganza. Credit goes to @Nick Fury who uploaded it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183179 so if you want the whole archive of sounds you can grab it as well. I zipped and attached Jasmine, but the sound on it is really low (your specialty as I recall). Hopefully it is the one you were looking for and if not believe me, I probably have the one you are looking for in the stuff I downloaded.
As an aside, Great archive of phone sounds found here: http://forums.theandroidchannel.com/topic/203-download-android-devices-stock-system-sounds/ (Where I got most of the files in my screenshot)

Just wanted to say I gave the flash a try today and Phobos sounds glorious. You've outdone yourself and I am truly impressed. Thanks for your time and creativity!
Can anyone change the mixer_paths.xml file to enable front earpiece while playing media? I will attach the file for you to use. Thanks!

Yup, I tried the mod from all the other devices but it just broke my audio, hope someone can mod this specific one.
I'm trying to edit this file, but no success. I tried various combinations of LG G3 stereo mod, Nexus 5X and LG V10, several lines copied and edited by hand. Nothing works. Maybe someone more experienced could edit our mixer_paths.xml? (It's actually mixer_paths_tasha.xml on my H850. All the interesting stuff begins at 1680th line)
Other devices with stereo MOD to look into:
Nexus 5
LG G2
I may have a soft brick...
EDIT: Okay, I don't have a brick. I've spent last few hours playing with this file. I can get G5 to play music through upper speaker, but not through both. I'm not sure how to do the mixing, because nothing I've tested works. I'll try more tomorrow.

Thank you for your efforts, let me know what you come up with tomorrow. Also, I think either the g3 or g4 have this mod.

Yeah, I'm using G3 stereo mod, V10, Nexus 5x and some others as a reference, but nothing worked out yet. I can only tell, that playing music on the earpiece alone isn't as bad as I expected, so this mod could give some good results.
Oh, and yeah, the last time I bricked my G5 somehow. I'm trying again.

Here's the file. I've also increased overall sound to be a bit louder (only a little bit, tried lot's of files, didn't have any problems with distortion)

Is there a patch for my SM-G920T1 Galaxy s6 Baseband version is G920T1UVU5EC2 or can I have better Lineage Rom for my version also I can't Update the os and when I call people they can't hear or I can't hear them. When you first boot Lineageos 14.1 if you have for metropcs it won't read your sim card so you have to edit the APN so search up for metropcs apn setting.
LineageOS doesn't support T*/W8 devices as of yet. They said they will be trying to add more support soon but as of right now, there is no calling and SIM doesn't always detect.

Hi man I was wondering if you could send me a recovery.Img for galaxy s6 sm-g920t1 or I think the sm-g920t would work just fine.
If your LOS 14.1 is distributed by Team Nexus, then here is the wrong place to report bugs man. Go over to www.nexus-roms.eu and report bugs for LOS there from now on.
As for the bugs you asked about:
1) LOS for the S6 isn't official (although they have been approved), therefore, OTA updates do not work (some could say it doesn't work on official LOS software too hahaha)
2) The team are working on call for the G920T/W8 right now. So far, it's not been working, but they are trying hard. Also, I must add that SIM has always been detected for me

There was a new build released today on their website. Yes, there is supposed to be one link. Click the link, choose either RR or LOS. Then, choose your model. If you're running T/W8, choose the one that says fltecan/ltecan, and download both the ROM and the patch file to help with calls. If you're running any other models, then choose the normal flte/lte folder. As of now, the patch does enable call, but for the other person to hear, you must activate speaker phone. 'Mohamad', the guy who works on T/W8 models for the ROMs, is working in a fix for it right now I think.

Alright, flashed. Yes, everything is much smoother. Also, calls are working for both the earpiece and speaker for me. Two things though.. the capacitive back and menu buttons don't work. Had to enable to onscreen buttons. Secondly, I don't have root. Trying to enable it in the developer options and it only gives me an option for ADB. I'm gonna try flashing SuperSU.

Flte = flat, as stated by the F. I'm sure you can figure out what the other one is for. Also, tell me your secrets!! It doesn't work in the earpiece for me.
The hardware keys don't work? Strange. They work for me. Maybe try reflashing if it really bothers you.
Root isn't built in in the first place lol
Alright, SuperSU from here flashed through TWRP from this link worked beautifully.

Now just gotta figure out how to get my buttons back. This is awesome!

Hmm.. well that might be the factor as to why my earpiece works. I didn't download and flash the flat version LOL I got the zeroltecan version haha.

I probably didn't get a script error because I flashed the international version of TWRP instead of the g920t version lol works consistently too! Made a few calls to make sure it wasn't bugged.

Wait, just to be clear, you're running a G920T, with LOS, and people can hear you with and without speakerphone on?

Does the audio go both ways? Meaning if they call you, w/o speakerphone they can hear you, and when you call them, w/o speakerphone they can hear you?

I haven't had anyone call me so I don't know if anyone is able to hear me. I only called my voicemail and checked for earpiece and speaker audio.
So in dire hopes of moving to the OS that my S5's have had for a while (!!!), I did exactly what H3adru5H said he did - I have an SM-G920T, but I applied (well, upgraded, technically) the international version of TWRP on my phone and then flashed the Edge version of the ROM he did (not the "flat"). Similar results - TWRP works great. ROM worked but no buttons. Sound was a problem (for calls) - it would work for Hangouts (I used to have Google Voice/Sprint integration, so I'm still stuck on Hangouts), and then it would stop. Earpiece made no difference. Also had the root issue - applied the SU package listed - seemed to be fixed. Then, because I had a Nandroid backup and a STRONG desire to stop being the last &*%(# Galaxy owners on earth to use Nougat, I see the "Testing" folder with a file called ResurrectionRemix-zero-multitarget-2017-05-28_2124.zip and think - yeah, I gotta try that. I dirty flashed it and it fixed the button issues - they came back, but the audio was no better. I don't recall if I tried patching the audio again - it was getting late and I needed to restore so I had a phone when I woke up.
Point is - I followed what sounded like the exact same steps as H3adru5H did on my SM-G920T (currently running MM XestroLite), but I basically didn't have functional call audio - toggling speakerphone didn't seem to help. If I could even get Hangouts sound to work reliably I'd be okay - I don't really use the native phone number or app.
I will say I'm somewhat confused by the instructions to use the "zerofltecan" version of the ROM and not the "zerofltexx" version, since technically I believe the SM-G920T would be zerofltexx, not zerofltecan (which is the Canadian version, I believe). I realize there was no sound patch for the "zerofltexx" version, so I had to use zerofltecan, but I am correct, right? All other things being equal, the SM-G920T would be zerofltexx, right? I notice that people lump the "T*/W8" together a lot - I don't know if it means they're really pretty much the same (the specs seem the same- bands might be different, though).
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo close. Oh God, please let this get fixed. And then it's the last Samsung ever for me.

T/W8 use zeroflte/ltecan because the guy who is working on the audio fix, Mohammad, has a Canadian model. Canadian model and T-Mobile models use the same Audience chipset which is used for calls. Other models have different audio chipsets. Also, don't use international TWRP and flash the ROM you're not supposed to. It'd just mess everything up, like the buttons as you mentioned.
The newer builds are much more simple, as they'll be multi-target, meaning one zip for either LOS or RR can be used for any model. As long as you have the latest TWRP, it'll use AABS, which is an automated system which scans for what model you have and determines if it needs to flash any patch. If it does, it'll do it during the install process. It's very cool. The test builds have this now and it works well. I'd recommend waiting for the next stable builds though. By then, Mohammad would probably have call working 100%.
