I have a rooted Xperia sp and I want to install custom roms but I'm unable to open recovery mode to install the rom from sdcard. Is this a common problem with sp users or it's only in my case and is there another way to install custom rom. Please help.
Rooted & bootloader unlocked ?
I don't know how to check whether the bootloader is unlocked or not. Can you suggest a way for that.
But when I dial *#*#7378423#*#* and go to service info-configuration it says Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes.
I guess it probably means it's still locked.

Howsit Guys
Need a lil help here. Im currently on firmware- 10.4.1.B.0.101 with [Root & XZDR] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643898 <-- via this method.. all Works sweetly.. Problem is that i want to unlock my bootloader. Ive checked in the service menu, unlocked bootloader is allowed.
I am currently trying to unlock bootloader with latest version of Flashtools(unofficial way).whilst phone is on, i connect cable, startup flashtools, it detects device. Then i click on lightningbolt icon, to unlock bootloader. menu comes up asking to remove cable, power off phone n goto flashmode.
When i get to the part where it asks to select my device, i click on xperia z. And i get a FAIL message saying i cannot officially unlock bootloader?? Do i need to be on stock .244 firmware or stock kernal to unlock ? Or am i going through it the wrong way. main reason i want unlock bootloader to install cyanagen mod11 nightly.
Thnx
Done
Sorry for the silly post.. managed to unlock my bootloader..
okaay so i rooted my phone again and decided to unlock my bootloader, i have verified that i am able to unlock my bootloader and follow all the instructions on the official sony website on how to unlock the bootloader. i get no errors during the cmd process either, i turn my phone on and it gets to the purple boot animation screen and then freezes. Is there anyway around this ?
EDIT: Also i used DooMlords thread and get the same problem? /: - I also use Flashtool but when i press 'blu' i only have the option to RELOCK my bootloader? :S

Just flash any desired custom form via fastboot and that's all, it should work.
When I unlocked my bootloader with stock firmware it doesn't boot anymore either, so I had to flash any other or reflash it again

Just flash a official FTF, then go to service menu, tests -> configuration and if your bootloader status is:
Unlock allowed: Yes - you can unlock your bootloader
Unlock allowed: No - your bootloader is hard bricked and there's no way to solve this (permanently)
Unlocked - congratulations.
I suppose your bootloader is hardlocked. check for yourself and if anything changes - quote

it says ---> Bootloader Unlocked: Yes. But iv'e tried to multiple times and still get stuck at the animation screen on boot up
If you are on a custom rom you just have to flash the custom kernel over it putting the phone in fastboot . No need to unlock bootloader again. Please ensure that the rom supports the custom kernel or there can be bootloops .

I have tried unlocking it with and without a custom ROM on my phone, it says 'Bootloader Unlocked: Yes' on the service info and i also only have the option to RELOCK my bootloader when i try it on the flash tool. Does this mean that it may actually be unlocked already?
EDIT: im also using This custom ROM which has custom kernals to select from
-Thanks

The rom that you gave link to is a stock firmware based custom rom, so it will have stock kernel.
I think it must be written Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes, on your phone
You will need to unlock the bootloader, PM me I will guide you how to do it.

hey i cannot unlockbootloader in service info bootloader not allowed which frimeware i can unlock bootloader?
hi there,
if the phone says in the service menu bootloader unlock allowed no means it cant be unlocked but that means you can still install a custom rom which should say LBL rom. Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/guide-flashing-custom-roms-ultimate-xsp-t2888579

If it says "no." you can't unlock it. You can install custom ROMs as long they are stated that are for Locked Bootloders. Do not attempt to flash a ULB ROM onto a Xperia SP with a LBL because it will soft brick your phone. Attempting to unlock the bootloader when the the status says "no" it's not recommendable and could hard brick your phone.

As mentioned above, if the phone says "no" or doesn't say anything at "bootloader unlock allowed:" thing, then there's no way around that. You can still get custom roms though. There are some roms that will work with locked bootloaders.
Pro tip: Always buy generic phones if you want the best from xda. Always check what you're going to buy.

There's no recovery available for Jelly Bean (4.3)
Boot into android and dial this and call it: *#*#7378423#*#*
If it says Unlock allowed You can unlock your BL
But If it says Unlock not allowed Your BL is force-locked, and it can't be unlocked

It says "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" So I can, but the problem is that I already tried to unlock the bootloader with the official method and flashtool and the first time that I put the code and everything, I get the error "....FAILED in 0.587 s " something like that but if I try twice the second time it seems to worth it, because I get "OKAY in 0.487.. s " for an exemple. But If I really unlock the bootloader why my phone can boot the kernel of Caio? cause I can't, and that is broken my brain xc I want to get the most advantage to this phone and I have to unlock the bootloader for that xD I already give up. I dont know what to do xD I want to try the cyanogenmod rom :c and sorry for my bad english
good afternoon, I have a problem with my xperia z1 c6903 when unlocking the bootloader I get a message that says your phone can not be officially unlocked that I should thank.
Apparently Sony has blocked the ability to unlock the bootloader on certain devices.
This is most likely the case if you got your phone from your carrier. Do you have a branded Z1?
You can also look up if this is the case by doing the following:
1. Open dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
2. Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status.
3. "Bootloader unlock allowed" should say Yes
If it doesn't, then at least the official way of unlocking your device won't work.
Any "not official" way to unlock the bootloader? Mine is locked too and i want to install something new in that old one. Thanks in advance.
Mine says not posible but i read somewere that can be done
That's the thing, is an old smartphone today, i don't understand why only certains models can be unlocked. Now im on last oficial os (5.1.1). I get it root but i cant unlock the bootloader in any way.
