This may not be possible but I figured that I'd ask anyway. Is there any way to get the notification icons that pop up on the status bar to be more like the KitKat icons? I've got some notifications that show up as a plain white square on my status bar ever since I upgraded to Lollipop a few months ago.
Let me give you an example of couple that I'm running into. I have the NASCAR Mobile app on my phone. I also have the 14News app (local news) on my phone. Anytime I get notifications from either of these apps, I get a plain white square on my status bar and I have to take the time out and look and see what it is. I'm wondering if it is something in the Motorola settings that I'm missing because I am also running Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (8") tablet and I don't have these issues on that device at all.
Any help that can be given to me on this would definitely be greatly appreciated.

do you have greenify? sometimes the system will lump those together if they've gone inactive for awhile and are greenified.

I've never had Greenify on my Moto X at all. These apps that I was talking about are apps that I use and get notifications from several times per week and I'd like to be able to tell at a glance which app is giving me the notification on my phone.
By the way, I've marked both apps as priority and I still get the plain white squares on these app notifications.

then perhaps it's due to too many notifications (sometimes from the same app). I noticed that on some apps like fb. on other apps like scrabble, there is a number embedded on the notification icon.
i believe there is a setting to tell whether or not to group them together or not.
There isn't anything like that on my status bar at all.
Are you asking if its possible to change the notification icon style on Lollipop to that of KitKat/Jellybean then yes its possible with the use of some Xposed mods. If the notification icons themselves appear distorted due to some reason then I'm afraid there is something wrong with the apps perhaps. A screenshot or two would have been really helpful in getting a better understanding of your issue here.
If you're asking about notification ticker, there's a module for Xposed by the name of 'Enable Notification Ticker'. I have it installed myself.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to root this phone but I may try it one of these days.

I'm not really talking about a notification ticker. I have tried these before and found them to be more annoying than useful for me. Thank you anyway for your input.

Hey all,
I know rom development is in the works, but I feel like I'm lost without toggles in the "pull down notification" area. I was put on to "Power Controls" from the Play Store and it works great. It's free, customizable, and works without root for those that aren't into that sort of thing!
You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Hope this helps a few folks out!
Thanks,

just a heads up to your heads up.. i used this app with ICS and loved it, was exactly what I needed in the notification bar. However with JB this app hurts the experience. In JB the top notification is expanded for greater viewing and actions. This app is treated as a notification and will always be treated as your top notification and you lose the whole JB notification functionality.
Notification Toggle fits well. ICS icons match and notification priority and icon can be changed so it's almost seamless.

Ditto. Works awesome.
Btw- you can manually expand JB notifications with a pinch-to-zoom.

I use Elixar 2. It's pretty nice, adds toggles to your pull down notifications. I don't think it requires root (though some of the features in it do if you want to use them all).

I have been using a similar app called Widgesoid to implement that toggle for a while. I had been using it in 4.0.4 and it is still there since upgrading to 4.1.1 and I expand my emails all the time to see who said what. Maybe it is this app(people said the same thing about Widgetsoid), or because I already had it installed when upgrading, but I don't know what you mean by losing that functionality. Still works fine for me.

I use the "widgetsoid" app to create a permanent occurrence of customizable toggles in the Notification Tray. My primary setup includes: airplane mode, wifi, wifi tether, bluetooth, rotation lock, screen brightness, flashlight.
Galaxy Nexus / TMobile / Oakland
The Standard "Power Controls" toggles in already in the widgets tab.

But that can only be used while on the home screen. Having them in the notification section allows quick access anywhere there is a status bar visible.

anyone?
I asked the same question about the Alarm icon in the status bar about 2 hours ago and it is already scrolled to the 2nd page so it doesn't look good for this.
Check out an app called GMD Immersive in the Play Store. It lets you hide the nav bar, or both nav and status bars.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.immersive&hl=en
thanks ill give it a try, i really want to keep the n6 but i can already see the things that will burn in really quickly and im pretty ocd, would do my head in.
yep it does work, next thing is the google search bar, spure white will burn in quick, getting rid of that just leaves the wall paper really.
I've got a Moto X Developer Edition with Lollipop 5.1 on it. I love everything about it except for the fact that some of my app notifications show up as white squares on my status bar instead of the regular app icon which used to show up for me on status bar when I had KitKat. I had been told that this only happens with apps that haven't been optimized for Lollipop. I was willing to accept this until I got Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 a few weeks ago. I noticed on the tablet that all of the appropriate app icons show up as normal on my tablet whereas the same notification on my Moto X shows up as just a plain white square. I then have to swipe down for my notifications to see which one it is and read it. Is there something that I'm missing in Motorola that will help me fix this issue?
I've got this a lot on two apps in particular. One of them is the 14News app (local news app in my area) and the other one is NASCAR Mobile.
Any help I can get on this would be very greatly appreciated.

In Settings, Sounds & Notifications, App Notifications, each app is listed, select an app, slide priority on. It might activate display of the icon. Not sure though. You might try clearing an app data, uninstall, then reinstall the app.

Samsung's new interface is astonishingly smooth. At first I thought it was just going to be another sluggish UI just like TouchWiz but I have to admit I was wrong. I was planning on junking my Unlocked S9 since it was a slow sluggish mess for a Pixel. I installed the S9 Pie + OneUI beta on release day and been using it since. I can not get the UI to hiccup at all no matter how much I try. After reading about Samsung UX it appears that they got some help from Google to enhance it's interface and it definitely paid off.
Memory management is still absurd for a phone with 4GB of memory. I switch beta HTC, Samsung and Google designed phones and always found myself back to HTC's Sense UI.

One thing I don't really like about the OneUI:
Bluetooth and Alarm icons don't show in your status bar anymore. They only show up when you pull down the notification shade (Samsung responded to my feedback and confirmed this is to keep the status bar "clean")

Yeah, it's annoying having to do an extra step just to see if I've set my alarm for work.
Another thing I don't like is the fact they've removed the battery saving option from location settings (but this is a Google change not Samsung)

I have alarm set for the same time monday to friday, but I have random days off work and don't always remember if I've turned it off/on. Having the icon in the bar acted as a prompt for me. Now I have to unlock my phone and pull the notification down to check.
It's not the end of the world, but it is an extra step for me

I agree. I registered it as a bug only to discover later that it was a feature. In some regards I like it. But I feel it should be a customizable feature.

Awesome. Plenty of people had mentioned the missing icons in the feedback in the Members app. Samsung genuinely listened to the feedback!
'Close all apps' also now works with 3rd party launchers in the latest beta
The battery is awesome i am getting about 4-5 screen on time!
its butter smooth, rather on oreo i was getting max of 2 screen on time! and it was laggy and freeze
Ive an issue. Since updating to this, my phone won't see any SSID's, at all, none. It just spins and scanning.

Can you share this feedback for me to Samsung please... im on beta 3 build december patch on Android pie 9 but i have seen that they havent fixed a bug that still persist since beta 1 was released. When you pull down notification shade and Open a new incoming message or music app even though is in memory it last like 2 second to open.. that delay is not present in oreo roms and its kind of annoying.. can you please share this feedback to program beta.. I appreciate your help. I dont know if its a bug or windows animation but dont like a bit!!!
Not to happy of the "cards" layout i settings, any way to get the old looks again?

Does anyone know where they have moved the icon framing option? Or if it's been removed entirely, I can't remember where I found it on Oreo, and I can't find it at all on Pie.

Don't know about stock, but Nova Launcher has that option
It was about perfect for me running CRLB on the S9 except 5G wifi didn't work. Unfortunately that's a deal breaker right now. Is there a website that states what's new in these updates?
Any way to move the clock/time to right side? Insert rant about android 9.
The usual samsung methods don't work. The SystemUI tuner app does not work either. TouchWiz is missing from the Beta+Rooted+adb permissions given version of the app. The custom entry keys (middle/right_clock_position) do nothing both on or off.
Also for the phone dialer, is there any way to change to one click to accept instead of the slide method?
ROG/ZenUI is really lacking in customization.

Don't think there is currently a way to move the clock. It bothered me too when I first got the phone, but now after a little over a week of use it's perfectly fine, I'm use to it. Not sure about the dialer tap to answer instead of slide, as I prefer slide to answer because it's less likely you'll accidentally answer an unwanted call.

Thanks, though now there's no way to show the 120HZ but not the auto-rotate indicator. Depending on if you have free or pro, it'll either show both or neither.
I guess nothing can work properly. It's about to be expected since it was never updated for android 9.
Thanks though.
EDIT: it's even more of a buggy mess, the temporary notifications don't disappear ever (message received, downloading item, etc .
Hrmm? Yes they do.
I've attached screenshots
It does not for me. The icons are stuck there after the notification ends. Are you using EdXposed and Flat status bar indicators v5.1.3?
I also have system tuner UI installed which may interfere with it.
EDIT: It turns out SandHook is more stable than YAHFA in this case.
