Not sure what's causing it but if my watch screen is off and I get a text, my watch won't alert me until I tap the screen. Everything is coming through just fine, only text messages are not. I'm using the stock LG messenger. Any ideas? I've tinkered with every possible setting between watch and phone.

I just got my g watch r. I really like it but it does not show any texts when I get them, just that I have a message waiting. Emails show up and I can read them, but not texts. Am I doing something wrong or does this watch simply not display texts???
the way text messages are displayed totally depends on the app you are using
I switched to evolvesms when getting my watch as it displays the whole text even for long messages, shows high quality contact pics and lets you define you own canned responses
If using the stock Samsung sms app, you need to make sure the option to display texts on the lockscreen is turned on.

thanks guys, I switched to google hangouts as my default text messaging app and it worked just fine. I was worried there for a moment!
[Q] Can't reply to texts using "reply" button and voice; everything else works
I've encountered a really strange problem on my watch (Samsung Gear Live) lately. Not a single texting app will let me use the "reply" button with voice.
Example: Friend texts me, text pops up on my watch. I swipe it and click "Reply" and try to reply using my voice. The text will write out on my watch screen, but the red Google mic icon just sits there for about 10 seconds as if its still thinking it's receiving input, and then it takes me to the "disconnected/watch is offline" screen.
But the watch is obviously not disconnected: I can exit that app and tap the screen and say "Okay Google" and then say "Text friend 'hi how's it going'" and the text will send without a problem.
I've encountered this error when using Coffee SMS, WearResponses, and Google Messenger. I've reset the watch, and cleared Android Wear data, and the problem still persists. This makes no sense. Any ideas/suggestions?
I started using Google Messenger recently, and one thing I noticed, is that when the phone is off to the side, and I get a new text message, the screen doesn't pop on, like it did with stock Messages and Textra.
Is there some Settings somewhere I need to enable that ?

From my experience, you need the Tasker app and set up a profile to turn the screen on. That is the only way I have found that works consistently. You will also need the Secure Settings app.
The Tasker app can seem overwhelming, but if you take your time and read some of the help files, it is actually pretty easy. I use the same app to turn my phone to vibrate when the phone links to my work wifi.

screen notifications or glimpse notification from the play store
How can we see more than the very last message notification from our IM apps? Whatsapp, Skype, Line, Viber and kakaotalk all show the absolute last message only. The previous messages flash by, sometimes too fast to read, and can't find a way to read them without opening the app on the phone.
you cannot read/view the previous messages if they you swiped them away from the phone or the watch. If you have a samsung phone, you can open the Messages app on your watch and look at the messages, but for whatsapp and other apps that are not installed on the watch, you can view the notifications that have not been swiped away yet. Does that make sense?
Not really.... Take any messaging app, imagine 5 messages were suddenly sent rapidly by the same contact, you haven't swiped any away on your watch. You can only see the last one and none of the previous 4. Is there a way you can see the previous 4 that came through on your watch too without opening the app on your phone?

Yes, that works fine. If a contact sends me 3 whatsapp messages, i can see all those (with white background, ofcourse). What i do is, go back to home screen, swipe the screen to the notification, click on it and you should be able to read those.

Hmm it does that with WhatsApp but not some others. On LINE you definitely don't see any previous messages only the last one. Seems like app dependant too.
I had the Watch 4 pro and now the Watch 5 pro and have experienced the same issue. I'm using a Galaxy S22 ultra phone as well. I do not get notifications/alerts on my watch when I get text messages to my default text messaging app, Google Messages. I have received a notification only 2 times. Both times I had sent a text with my phone while at work with bad service, and the message wont send. I then get notified on my watch that the text didn't send. And at that point, and text messages that come through will vibrate on my watch until while that original notification is there. Does anyone have my insight as to whether this is a known issue with Google Messages and the Galaxy Watches? I have all the proper notification settings in place. Its not a deal breaker enough for me to go back to the stock messaging app, but it would be nice to get Google Messages to work properly with the notifications! Both the phone and watch are regularly updated.
