Anyone else having trouble getting the viper4android driver to stick? i've flashed a root kernel, removed system apks to get more system space and still not working. Adaway for example works. Anything else i am missing/have any of you gotten viper4andorid to work? I
There's already a thread about this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3236779
The kernel needs to be set in permissive mode as well. You can find the app on xda selinux mode changer to change from enforcing to permissive.

method doesn't seem to work on 6p. on N6PanglerM ROM
Yea , I've tried setting to permissive and the changes in the other thread without any luck

Obviously most are aware Google Play have blocked any ad blocking apps but i had an apk. of AdAway from my Galaxy S3 so i installed it on my One but it does not appear to block all ads like it used to even when i manually update it and reboot there's always ads in certain apps, am i using an older version of this apk. or does anyone else have an alternative apk'. of any ad blocking app i could use, or is it something to do with the phone itself?
Cheers
unless you're running a modified kernel with the protection of /system partitions disabled, your host file gets replaced by default every time you reboot.
I've adblock 2.3 and it works fine, i don't have ads in apps
Which version do you have?
And see if you aren't running a custom kernel with /system partition protection disabled.
Have Trickdroid on my phone so I choose stock kernel as it's the most stable i believe, not ready to flash custom kernel yet as development is still in the early stages, running same version as above stated and not sure it blocks any ads, any other way around this without flashing a custom kernel?

There's a mod that removes the protection from the stock kernel. It's in the development section.

But only on full boot, no problem if you have fast boot enabled... Works fine for me without kernel mod in that basis
Only problem was I needed to install Ad away with titanium backup as it did not show up in the market for some reason

As i mentioned in the OP Google play no longer allow apps like ad away and similar ad blocking apps, ridiculous but what can you do.
I actually don't have fastboot enabled, I'll do that now and try again and report back.

Ok enabling fastboot hasn't made any difference, rebooted and ads are still showing in apps.
@ gunnyman what's the name of this thing I need to look out for in development section, I'll give this a go.

Adaway working fine here on ARHD8.0. Get f-droid apk, install, search for adaway, install, profit.

Had better luck with adblock plus than adaway, might want to try that instead.
This was one of the first things I installed (all of yesterday, when I got it).
First thing to note is that you don't have to reboot the phone, despite what the app says. Just activate it and go back to Home screen. In fact, a reboot, as noted above, will undo the effects of Ad-away.
I did notice that it seemed to disable itself at one point today, unless my phone rebooted at some point in my pocket without my knowledge, which would be disconcerting.

Do you have an up to date apk. for that mate?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I just checked the "help" information in my AdAway app, it sets out instructions for a workaround for HTC S-on devices i.e. how to move the hosts file to data and put a symlink in system...
Think this answers the question in the OP
Per post 12 you can currently get AdAway here either directly or by installing F-Droid market (alternative to Play store)

Aye you can grab it here:
https://adblockplus.org/downloads/adblockplusandroid-1.1.2.apk
If you're on stock ROM and don't want to use any kernel patch to make your /system partition writable, you can flash this little zip through recovery (e.g. CWM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327934. Does exactly the same as the app (blocking hosts through system's hosts file) but applied via recovery
Well like the title says I was wondering if we might be able to use kexec to boot cm on our devices. If I'm not mistaken that's what is used for the droid 3 to boot cm

This has been discussed many times here and in multiple other device forums. At this point, it has not been implemented into SafeStrap. I am not sure if it is possible or not, nor do I know if hash is working on putting it in. He is aware of it though.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
kexec uses a hijacked kernel module to direct to a different kernel placed on the SDcard. Sort of like how SS works, but a bit differently. All SS does is direct the kernel to a different image. Kexec needs a hijacked module to load an insecure kernel. While this sounds easy to implement, trust me it will most likely never happen with the note 3. The problem is that the note 3 doesn't have any modules. And don't ask about inserting them, because the kernel will not run them. They are completely disabled in this kernel. That property is set when the kernel is compiled, so with it being disabled, we cannot enable it, and we cannot hijack the modules, because they are completely disabled.
Thanks for your informative reply. Just thought id ask

Hi all, I've just upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus to the nexus 6 (what a difference!) and I'm having trouble getting xposed to work.
I've tried it on PA alpha and Euphoria ROM, with stock / lean kernel and followed fixes here:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/nexus-6-ho...tallation-errors-list-working-modules-1488930
But I'm not having any luck.
I'm next going to try a 5.1 ROM with init.d, but I don't have a lot of time to mess around with my phone today - I'd love to hear from anyone with xposed running and what combo of ROM / kernel you're using.
Cheers!
Ross

5.1 for not work with xposed.
K,
Both the ROMs I've tried so far were 5.0 based I believe... Should I be able to get xposed working with a stock 5.0 ROM / kernel?

Might want to look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3030220
I got it working with 5.0.2. Even after installing leankernel you have to use the lkconfig options to turn selinix to permissive. Then flash the xposed zip. Details are in the leankernel thread on using lkconfig.
Yeah the guide I found in op goes through a lot of this. Looking at the xposed thread, I think I'm using the wrong framework zip / apk!
Thanks for your help, I'll reply when I have some time to test

Hey guys,
I was trying to find a ROM that I can use to boot into from MultiROM that will allow me to play Pokemon Go. I tried an unrooted Nitrogen OS ROM and an unrooted stock rom by danDVH but both of them failed a safetynet check. I don't care about it enough to unroot completely, hence the reason I stopped playing a month or two ago when they started to block root.
Any ideas?
Is your bootloader unlocked? That triggers SN nowadays, among other things.
Yea it is, I thought that may have been the case. Screw Pokemon Go in that case, it's not important haha

Hello, I thought I would try to make a rom for us seeing there hasn't been any. I'm no developer at all. I started with the lastest stock and pushed many mods in system. The rom is VERY light almost no bloat. For Volte please try without changing to your own CSC. I tried to get it to be universal so no need to mess with CSC. Currently its a Canada CSC but should work for everyone. I couldn't test as my carrier (Telus) doesn't support VoLte for dual sim phones.
As always flash at own risk.
A dirty flash should work as long as your currently on the lastest update if not a wipe will be necessary.
Installation
Flash UlimateNote7FE.V1
Flash KimcilKernel 2.0
Flash Magisk 16.4 (important must be this version)
Flash Data Partition Fix
Wipe Cache and dalvik
Reboot and wait.
Enjoy.

How about battery drain on Kimchil Kernel?
Btw, my Note FE is N-935S. I 've try to flash Kimchil Kernel but stuck on samsung logo. Hic :crying: :crying:
That is with Kimcil. You will need to pull your boot.img from stock rom. Flash the boot.img file thru TWRP. Then continue to flash your root of choose. Your model doesn't have the problem of TWRP locking data partition so no need for a fix.
