Team Darksyde presents VRThemes for your Framework - Contacts - Pulldown backgrounds for TMS 3.0 Blue Ice Theme v2.0 and Hulk SMASH Monkey v2.0 and now for Sprint MOAT_v1_Hellfire_Theme
Post #2 - VRTheme.zips for the Pulldown backgrounds.
Post #3 - VRTheme.zips for the Contact backgrounds.
This thread is for posting any of your favorite imgs that you like to use so feel free to post them if you want to share. This thread is for all of us....
These zips are flashable through SafeStrap and FlashFire.
I will add the replacement instructions on the top of Post#2 and Post#3
The replacement directions are almost the same for all zips, please take notice of the png image names as they do change for each one.
So first off I will give some advice on how to make your own then how to replace the one in my flashable zip with your own. Remember that this site is about learning. I share this because I'd love to see what people come up with and to give them the option to make their own.
I appreciate and look forward to seeing all of the contributions that I'm sure people will make with these.
The image will need to be 1080x1920
Framework Background Guide:
It must be named darksyde.png
Then this is how you will replace the darksyde.png that you just made with the one in the flashable zip I have attached to this post (or any of the other ones I've added to the collection below.) This flashable zip uses VRTheme to replace the image inside the apk.
You will need the program WinRAR or 7zip to replace the content inside of the zip easier than decompiling and recompiling it.
Open VR_Theme_framework_****.zip in WinRAR or 7zip and open vrtheme>system>framework>framework-res.apk>res>drawable-xxhdpi
Replace darksyde.png.
Close the zip and put it on your device to flash.
Here is a VRTheme.zip for replacing all 3 img at the same time. You just need to follow the directions for framework-contacts and pulldown to change each one in this zip.
VR_Theme_framework-contacts-pulldown_default.zip
Here is the default img for Framework:

Here is my VRTheme folder with all the VRTheme.zips that are shown in my ScreenShots:

Awesome work!
HAPPY V2...THANKS
Jim, I found a small problem that I guess has been there since Blue Ice. The Airplane Mode icon toggle does not change to blue when turned on. It is just a minor cosmetic problem. Maybe you can fix it in the future.
Thanks again, GREAT WORK!!!

Stupid question, but you did flash the latest Blue Ice V2, right? It was changed a couple of times yesterday morning.
I figured it out. The pull downs I was flashing, the image is named wrong. I downloaded and flashed the one that worked for you and it worked for me. So I opened it up to compair and saw that images were named different. Renamed the image in one that was not working and presto change o a new background.......

How hard would it be to make the background where the toggles are transparent?

Warning! Applying a theme to the battery icon involves modifying system files and will more than likely brick your phone unless you are 100% sure on what you are doing or have a good back/restore solution

and here is it in action
There are 2 quite serious prerequisites to this mod
1) Must be rooted with S-OFF
2) ClockworkMod installed and a backup taken (Please, please, please, do this in case of failure)
To create a theme from scratch.
1) Grab the source files for the theme of your choice from this thread
2) Grab APK Manager 4.9 from here
3) Download framework-res.apk from your "system/framework" folder using adb or root explorer
4) Place your downloaded framework-res.apk in APK Manager's "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder
5) In APK Manager choose option 22 to set current project
6) choose option 9 to decompile apk
7) replace battery xml files in folder "res/drawable" and pngs in folder "res/drawable-hdpi" within the extracted "projects/framework-res" folder that APK Manager creates
8) Choose option 11 to compile
9) Select "y" is system apk
10) Select "y" replace original folders
11) In the "keep" folder that APK Mananger has created, delete resources.arsc
and the battery xml files in "res/drawable" and the battery pngs in "res/drawable-hdpi"
12) Press any key and let APK recompile
13) In the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder, rename unsignedframework-res.apk to framework-res.apk
14) Extract the attached "Blank Update.zip.zip" then Open up the update.zip with 7zip
15) Drag your renamed framework-res.apk to the "framework" folder in 7zip to overwrite the existing blank framework-res file
16) Close update.zip (agree to any messages about updating the file)
17) Copy update.zip to your sdcard
18) Flash the update.zip via ClockworkMod
My Pre-made battery theme
This contains the android battery theme I posted above, already to flash
Warning! This was made for software version 1.32.405.6 - You may get errors if running a different version to me. If so, restore using clockworkmod
1) Extract attached "Pre-made theme.zip" and copy update.zip to your sdcard
2) Flash the update.zip via ClockworkMod

v2 Colour - Added version with coloured status bar icons
Big thanks for this tutorial!
I love the look of this! Will need to install Clockwork Mod etc of course before I use it, but I will look into this soon
Just to clarify, is it possible to get only the battery mod without the other coloured icons? Is Pre-made themeV2.zip only the battery yes? And the colour version is all the icons?

Whilst I appreciate you gave a guide on how to make our own, I'm really not very graphically talented, would it be possible to have one where the numbers are clearer?
I love the little android, but I have to hold my phone right up to my face to see the actual percentage
Thanks though, have to have % visible
Sorry I didn't make the images. They were taken from this thread. You could maybe ask over there if anyone could help you though
Ahh, cool, I used the online kitchen to make my own, pretty awesome!
I've flashed my own one, but now I've lost all the colourful other icons. I assume if I flash them back over, I lose my battery icon, right?

Just out of interest, did you flash the zip file that the kitchen generated? It wouldn't work for me.
You can just add the icons back into the framework-res.apk (the one you had with the battery icons) and reflash

Actually I think you can build a version with the battery and icons using the online kitchen. You select the icons on the "Themed Icons" set page

Not really sure to be fair. I just used the clockworkmod that is kicking around in the dev section as it is the only way i'm comfortable with to flash update.zip files. There may be others ways to achieve the same thing though

Is anyone else using the online kitchen to build these battery themes?
It keeps generating folders with v4 at the end, ie drawable-hdpi-v4
The folders in the framework-res on my stock rom doesnt have -v4 at the end like so "drawable-hdpi". I believe this is why I keep getting force close when I flash the file from the online kitchen
yes some kitchens do that. thats why i prefer doeing it manually or checking with theme porter. i always check the res folders for these annoying -vX endings.
I thought so, it's just that someone mentioned in this thread that the kitchen work for them and i'm just trying to figure out how since it does add the pesky -v4 to whatever it cooks for me.
Manually is the way to go
Just out of interest, what does theme porter do?
i checks 2 files (old and new) for updated pngs, and copies them across.
very useful when you actually have a theme already, but simply want to port it (i.e due to an update of the framework res by the manufactorer). This does it for you. Not as sophisticated as apk-manager true

This file will be installed through cmr. Once installed simply add a widget and select Clock (HTC). There are two versions installed as you scroll the options they will be clock 11/12 and 12/12
Although these clocks are accessed through the HTCClockWidget, the widget itself is not modified. The stock widget pulls images from /system/etc/clockwidget
If you like the clocks that are in those two slots currently, then don't install this as it will over-write them.

BIOS Boot Animation with sound
This has been floating around for a couple of years now so I take no credit for the original idea.
I simply edited all of the images to match the specs of the Thunderbolt.
When booting it has a sound of a hard drive starting up with beeps like an old PC.
This file greatly speeds up the boot proccess of the Thunderbolt as well!
The original file is about 3meg, this file is just over 1meg.
Animated gif preview:
The attached zip file is not a flashable zip, it contains the boot animation.zip and the mp3 sound file. Open the zip file and copy the bootanimation.zip and the FinalThunder.mp3 to your computer so that you can copy them to your phone.
Depending on the ROM you are using place the 2 files in the following directory on your phone. If you are unsure, just look in the directory and if it has bootanimation.zip and FinalThunder.mp3 then you are in the right place.
You may have to set permissions on both files to rw-r--r--
(You could also use adb to push the files to your phone if you would rather)
If you think you may want to revert, copy the originals somewhere on your SD Card first.

Boot Animation
This is the same boot animation as in 1.4 but where the 4GLTE fades in at the bottom with the lightning around it I changed it to BAMF.
When it fades out and comes back in it still says 4GLTE.
This is just one frame to give you the jist of things.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the results.
Download the file to your phone (make a backup copy in case you want to revert)
NOTE: rename the file to: bootanimation.zip
Move it to the appropriate place on your phone and set the permissions rw-r--r--
NOTE: in 1.4 the bootanimation.zip has been moved to:
/system/media
BAMF bootanimation
If you like it hit the thanks button!
----------------------------------------------------------
BAMF Boot Screens
This is not the boot animation, this is the first screen that shows up before the boot animation and when booting into cwm.
NOTE: If you flash this, restoring from a backup will not revert it, it is there to stay until you flash another boot image.
This is a flashable image, it has to be flashed via bootloader.
Download the file of your choice and rename it to PG05IMG.zip and place it in the root of your sdcard and reboot into bootloader.

Thanks man, I take that as a real complimentary coming from you.
As far as creating more...
I tried the easy way, I added a new folder "clock8" but no luck.
Since these clocks are all called from HTCclockwidget.apk, it would have to be something in the code in that file.
I personally didn't care for any of the clocks I replaced, and for that matter have never seen anyone run them.

Thanks for the hard work, they look great!
Can you create a version for Rolex Daytona watch as well?
I am reviving and moving the thread from the Evo forum where fachadick started this tremendous thread, with his approval. These flashable zips are simple to use and should work on virtually any device.....moreover, the WORST that will happen is nothing will change. Finally, your device must be rooted.
Here is a link to the original thread 300 Flashable Font Packs - Change your system fonts the easy way! Most of the edify font appear in post 1006, 1014, 1418 and 1419.
To use:
Just copy to sdcard and flash - these only change three files in the /system/fonts folder (effectively changing your main system fonts), so you can flash one on top of the other until you find one you like, but if you want to do a Nandroid backup first, that's probably the best idea.
Separate font for the dialer
JsChiSurf developed a hack over in this thread this thread so that you can have a different font for just the dialer.
Create your own FontPacks/Fix bolding issues
It's actually really easy. All you need to do, is get yourself a ttf of the font in regular and bold - or just regular if it doesn't come in bold. rename two copies of the regular ttf "Clockopia.ttf" and "DroidSans.ttf". rename the bold version (or the third regular version) "DroidSans-Bold.ttf" (note these are case sensitive). open up one the fontpacks with 7zip, go into the system folder, then go into the fonts folder. Drag the new fonts (the ones you renamed) and drop them into the now open fonts directory in 7zip - say yes when it asks you if you're sure you want to copy. Close down 7zip, change the name of the zip file, and you're ready to go! As long as you do this exactly as I described (and don't add or remove other files), you don't even need to resign the fontpack!
Use ADB instead of flashing
If you want to push the fonts to the phone with ADB instead of flashing them, check out this post
Use Terminal Emulator instead of flashing
If you want to use terminal emulator to change the fonts instead of flashing them, check out this post
MIUI Rom
These packs will not work for you. However, EndlessDissent put up a thread on miui-dev where he packaged up a ton of these and put them in a format that miui's built-in themer can recognize.
Font Changer
Although I have not used Font Changer from the Market, Many have said it works well....feel free to extract the .ttf files from a font-pack and use them!
Finally, if you do not see a font you are looking for, post a link to the .ttf file and I will make a font-pack for you.
The font-packs are organized Alphabetically in the first few posts. I will try to make a preview for each one......but this is a lot of work, unless someone wants to help...hint...hint!

I am sorry, but I am not entirely sure what you are asking. If you have a font file (.ttf) I can certainly mike it into a flashable zip file for you....But I need to get the file from you or post a link for me. None of the font packs will hurt your phone, they just would not change the font.
Please let me know if I have answered your question....

[HowTo] Mod a Theme - Huexxx's Battery Icons / Circular / % / Multicolour & more ...
Hi all!
Given that I wanted a circular icons for the battery indicator on my OB, and that the only way to get some icons to my taste was making them for myself, have encouraged me to create my own icons. My icons have a smooth transition of color from blue (100%) to red (0%) through green (75%), yellow (50%) and orange (25%).

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx10EBatt.zip
NOTE: In case of troubles, post here and then we will see the way to restore original framework-res.apk.
Since at the moment I have no intention of creating a complete theme, the only way to enjoy them is inject them into an existing theme, such as those offered by the Theme-Master antonio1475.
To say that until the date, antonio's WP7 Theme is the default Nova theme, so if you have Nova rom and only want to inject my icons, use WP7 theme like explained in this thread.
This tutorial will explain how to inject my icons on antonio1475's WP7 theme, but the process is the same for injection into any other existing theme. It is important that the theme comes with icons for each percentage value of battery charge. In the tutorial everything is done with WinRAR, but can also be done using 7zip.
First of all, the changes explained here work perfectly for me, but I am not responsible for the effects it can have in your case.
1 .- We can download the latest antonio1475's WP7 theme from his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176182
2 .- We can download my pack of icons from here:
Battery v0 - Normal icons: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_Batt_Icons_v0.rar
Battery v1 - 3d icons: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_Batt_Icons_v1.rar
Battery v1.1 - 3d icons: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_Batt_Icons_v1.1.rar
Radio 3d v0: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_Radio_Icons_v0.rar
WiFi v0: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_WiFi_Icons_v0.rar
WiFi 3d v1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/Huexxx's_WiFi_Icons_v1.rar
Clearer Dropdown Arrow for WP7: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4629711/HBI/clearer_dropdown_arrow.rar
3 .- Put the two files in one folder. It is not necessary but it simplifies things.
4 .- Open the theme with WinRAR by double-clicking on it (in this case WP7themev8final.zip). WinRAR must be the default program to open zip files. If it's not your case, you have to open WinRAR and then find the file with the inside browser and open it. This will open a WinRAR window showing the contents of the package with the theme.
5 .- Navigate within WinRAR to the folder \system\framework
6 .- Open the file framework-res.apk by double-clicking on it inside WinRAR. This opens a new WinRAR window with the content.
7 .- Navigate within WinRAR to the folder \res\drawable-hdpi
8 .- Open my package of icons (Huexxx's_Batt_Icons_v0.rar) with WinRAR.
9 .- Select all files within the package of icons and drag'n'drop them to framework-res.apk WinRAR window in order to replace the icons.
Once done, we can close the WinRAR window with the icons (Huexxx's_Batt_Icons_v0.rar).
10 .- When a dialog to define how to include the new files popups, accept to continue with default parameters.
11 .- Once the new icons have been included in framework-res.apk, close this WinRAR window. The application will ask you to update the file, and you have to accept. Maybe it will ask you to update before close the window, anyway accept and then close it.
You can see the date and size changes in framework-res.apk looking at theme's WinRAR window (WP7themev8final.zip).
12 .- Close the theme's WinRAR window. You can see the date and size changes in WP7themev8final.zip looking at file browser.
The resulting file WP7themev8final.zip is the original theme with the modified icons, ready to install.
Instructions for installing the theme are the same as the author specified for its installation, so read carefully the theme author's thread.
In fact, the theme used for the tutorial can only be installed over Nova ROM or stock 10C ROM.
I recommend you to deactivate the widgets and to run the original launcher (if you use a different one) before flashing the theme, as in my first attempt I had to deactivate and reactivate the widgets, and reconfigure a little the launcher after the flash. After installation, in my case, the first boot stucked on bootimage (several minutes) and I had to remove the battery and restart, but finally everything is correct. Following this recommendations, the second attemp worked flawlessly.
Take a look of some screenshots with the result.
v0:
v1+wifi:
v1.1+clearer dropdown arrow:
Best regards, and if you like them, click on Thanks!
To say that all the procedure above explained can be used in order to modify any .png inside theme's apks.
Be careful with .9.png files... ir must be recompiled and it's more difficult.
For those who wish to use my icons in your themes, it's very simple:
- Ask me for permission
- Include me in the credits
So many thanks to antonio1475, without his help this would be impossible!
Hi again...
Despite not having had any response, I will continue with the project because it is primarily for myself.
I've updated the main post with a new 3D version of the icons and some icons wifi, same as included in antonios1475's wp7 theme but with darker gray background, like radio signal one.
Regards!
They look great!
Maybe you could ask for antonio1475's permission for you to inject your theme mods and then link the finished repacked theme from his base project.
It would be totally at his discretion though

Thanks so much for the first reply to my thread!
It would be fantastic, but then i've to update and upload the modified theme every time he changes his theme... and in the thread I explain thoughly how to modify the original theme in easy steps.
Believe me when I say that it will take you about 1 minute in modify the theme, and you will have the satisfaction of have done it by yourself.
Regards!
Modified mine through UOTkitchen. Great guide.. keep it up man.

Hi all...
I've observed that my new 3d icons weren't as circular as I would like, so I have decided to touch up them.
Now are rounder, better shadowed and thay have the number better placed in the centre of the icon.
Also, I've added a new dropdown list arrow in order to modify original WP7's icon because IMHO it's dificult to distinguish the black arrow inside the dark grey gradient circle.
Regards!
Hi again!
I've created new Radio 3d icons.
They are inspired in WP7 theme icons but now in 3d.
You can see it at first post.

Navigate inside another winrar to a folder
Drag and drop some files
Close all
Is this hard to do?
TRy it, believe me, it's so easy!

Without flashing what... another ROM?
Antonio's theme seems to run over stock 10C (the baseline of actual nova). If you have that stock ROM, you can try...
... but... if something goes wrong... stock ROM doesn't have the keycomb to access recovery... and you would reflash with LG stuff...
Select the theme you want to modify, and read troughly the thread in order to know if the theme goes well with your ROM.
When I would know how to modify .xmls, I'll complete the thread with base themes of the different stock ROMs to modify them.
Regards!
New wifi icons at first post!
They woludn't be the last, because I want to do another version with thinner lines...

It would be perfect if somebody could write a guide on how to incorporate them into the stock rom...
THEME TEMPLATE - CM9
WARNING: MAY CAUSE A SEVERE ADDICTION TO THEMINGI have received numerous requests about theming CM9 from various people, and after directing them all to my home forum where I have a template, a member here (ebs512) suggested that I post the template here because it was so useful.
Some up-and-coming themers have indicated that some of the experienced themers have been reluctant to help them too much with creating new themes so in order to alleviate both the flood of PMs that experienced themers have and the lack of help that the newbies receive, here is a CM9 Template for everyone.
It's currently only for MDPI and HDPI but Anyone can easily add XHDPI compatibility by using my XML generator, see directions at the bottom concerning Density and Compatibility
PREREQUISITES: YOU MUST HAVE APKTOOL INSTALLED
There are many, many tutorials on how to install apktool, just google it.
Directions:
1. Download the template from Mediafire (updated 7/20/2012)
2. Unzip the code to a convenient location
3. Edit the images, change colors, do everything you want to it
4. Choose the Compatibility you want by following the directions of your choice (See below 4.1-4.4)
5. Open up your command prompt
6. Enter the following command:
Code:
apktool b location_of_the_source_code_folder
and it will build.
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
7. Don't forget to sign the apk before installing it
8. Publish your theme here or on Google Play
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for negative comments you receive if you create a terrible theme. Everyone has full permission to create themes off this template and distribute them (if you plan on creating paid themes, please also provide a free download in the spirit of open source).
DIRECTIONS FOR XHDPI COMPATIBILITYSince you are using apktool to build your theme, there are inherent problems that are unfixable. The problem lies in the location of the Preview.png that shows up when you open up the theme chooser. Leaving it out will let your theme be compatible with all densities, but you will not be able to show a preview.
4.1 To make compatible with HDPI and MDPI (and LDPI)
1. Install a framework-res.apk from a Samsung Galaxy S2 CM9 ROM by downloading the apk and typing:
Code:
apktool if location_of_SGS2_ICS_framework\framework-res.apk
2. Make sure you have HDPI and MDPI folders in the theme folder with the proper images
3. Place the Preview.png in the XHDPI folder, that's right, the XHDPI folder
4. Compile
4.2 To make compatible with MDPI only
1. Delete the contents of the HDPI folder
2. Move the Preview.png from the XHDPI folder (its default location) to the HDPI folder
3. Compile
4.3 To make compatible with XHDPI and HDPI
1. Delete the MDPI Folder
2. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
3. Add Images for XHDPI to the XHDPI Folder (make sure they are named correctly)
4. Move the Preview.png from drawable-XHDPI to the drawable folder
5. Compile
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "@drawable/preview"
2. Add XHDPI images
3. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
4. Compile
More information on how to theme certain elements is located in this wonderful guide by xda member nhnt11
I do not have a donation button, but if you feel like it, purchase one of my CM9 Themes (available on several forums for free) off google play
Please visit the original thread on my home forum also.
And... if you are really stuck and need to talk to me, send me a PM or hit me up on gtalk at [email protected]

Thank you anthony for making this
Updated OP with directions about making your theme compatible with different screen densities. PLEASE READ those directions, because if you don't you will have problems applying it. Take special note about installing the proper framework-res.apk with apktool.
Thanks for this! Do you have any tips in regards to batch editing images for mdpi? It's going to take me a while to get through the 2587 images in the hdpi so when I've done it would be nice if I could just run a handy tool of some sort to re-size them all for mdpi/xhdpi.

Batch resizing is a bad idea with all the .9.pngs, but if you want you can batch resize non-.9's. Batch recoloring is very simple with Photoshop (which I don't have).I use GIMP to batch edit. There are a couple plugins for it, but I use a script and edit using the command prompt. If you have Photoshop though, use that, it costs a lot because its the best. //Advice

I'll just do what i usually do and go through one by one where I don't already have an image to replace and batch what I can. I do use PS as my main editor along with Paint.Net for certain things.
Thanks.

Get adobe fireworks for batch editing if you just want to change the color...otherwise if you use gimp get a plugin called bimp (batch image manipulation plugin)

Could anyone please kindly help upload the template to another file host service?
For some reasons I was unable to download it from mediafire.
Thanks!
I updated the theme template. CHECK the FIRST post.
CHANGE LOG:
* Themed the volume sliders and other sliders
* Fixed the problems with inverted apps not showing up correctly (most of them)
* Removed some unnecessary images from the template (cuts down on size)
Enjoy. I'm glad to see a bunch of you using this already, glad it's helping
Do you know how to fix missing assets? I know I can ignore it, but it's just annoying. btw, those lots of redirections at redirections.xml are really needed? I've never seen any theme like this.
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "drawable\preview.png"
This is confusing because preview.png isn't in the AndroidManifest.xml.
The correction is "\" before "@drawable/preview"
There is another thread with the how to make a T-mobile theme which have more detail what can be themed, see link. A reference to the post is helpful for beginners.
Please update the first post.
Thanks for posting.

The redirections aren't required when you delete the following line from the AndroidManifest.xml
<meta-data android:name="com.tmobile.theme.redirections" android:resource="@xml/redirections" />
