hey guys,
is anyone else having problems sending and recieving MMS's on custom roms?
i have tried the latest: Cyanogenmod, TeamRadium, XenonHD, Ivans rom and probably one other one, along with at least two different kernals. Every single one exhibits the same problem. the very very first MMS you send or recieve is sent or downloaded fine. After that MMS's cannot be sent or downloaded, it just says "recieving" or "sending" forever.
The MIUI 7.0.5.0 rom works fine, can send or recieve as many as i want, but personally its a garbage rom, especially compared to the brilliant roms some people bring out on here.
if when on a custom rom, i do a factory reset in CWM, i can send or recieve one MMS, then it stops working again. This happens regardless of whether i wait a day to send it and if i have had my data on all day.
Ive done all the obvious. Check APN/type in my own and reset. Make sure wifi is off and data is on. tried 2G instead of 3G. Tried a new sim card. tried my sim in a friends mobile (works fine).
I had the same problem, I tried everything, I even had 3G problems (impossible to load something on Google Drive or YouTube, meanwhile all the websites I went on loaded perfectly and fast), so I came back to sMiui. That's sad but that's the only way I think, thanks to Xiaomi's bugged sources
By chance, are you French and having Free Mobile?

Hi!
Since I started flashing again yesterday, things wasn't like it should, suddenly my text messages wasn't sent, but no message came up, it just went straight to Outbox. I got it to work for a couple of minutes, but nothing more. So, I went flashing a new rom to see if it made any difference, and yes, it did. The problem just got worse, and i get this message (title)... Tried flashing to several different roms, but nothing worked. Even tried flashing back to HTC's rom, wich i had before, but nothing happened... I can recieve messages, and call/recieve calls. Could this be something with flashing?
I hope there is someone clever out there with answer!
try different radios and see if that helps

Your SD card inserted? If no, try to insert it and try to send sms.
I'm not sure if you have ATT, but there is currently a text messaging outage in the NJ area for me. I thought something was wrong with my phone too.
thank you
Thank you for answers! I will try changing the radio, but i havent changed it i think? Or does this changes with the hardspl which i reinstalled before flashing a rom. Tried change it back to what i had before, but nothing happened eighter. And my storage card is inserted...
Im from norway, using OneCall, tried Talkmore, which didnt work eighter... Both this runs under the same network...
Radio
Tried to change radio to a confirmed working radio for my rom, nothing happened...
Can't understand what the problem is! Can it be broken in a way after flashing? Strange flashing problem... But! Now, when doing a new hardspl that fittet the rom best, i get a new message first time after soft reset saying something like; "Your text message cannot med sent. Make sure your message service number is correct under..."
Hahaha!
I feel soo stupid right now! When i search for the service message number on google, i found a number that my provider said was the one. But it seems that they have changed thier number, so i went to their Support site, after bought a HTC Touch HD. It didnt work there eighter, so i changed the number, and a new HTC got in to my collection! But HD is a great phone, so doesnt regret!
I am unable to receive MMS since I started using CM 4.0.4 a few weeks ago. I can send it without a problem. My friend sent me 10 MMS, I only received 2. Is there any reason for this or is it just a problem with the ROM? Neither the stock Messaging app is getting it or ChompSMS. I have tried it with auto-retrieve both on and off.

What are you saying?
Could be a network thing ... but to make sure send your self 2 mms and see if they come back .I think this resets something in your carrier's servers
just open your messaging app put your number in select a pic and send
Ive already tried that, I receive the message from myself. But anyone else, I dont receive or only receive every once in a while.
call up tmobile and have them check your settings on their end, don't tell them your running a custom rom ...
i would say just reflash since it was working and stopped, (off topic) my g1's accelerometer stopped working out of nowhere so i reflashed 4.0.4 and it worked like a charm. hope this does it for you
ill try reflashing then, I called up Tmobile, they just concluded it was my phone and wanted to send me a new one lol

Hi, I am a recently registered user but a longtime "lurker" on the Opal section of xda.
I've bought my girlfriend an opal, roughly a year ago, and in three months or so she started complaining about some issues of the phone:
- From time to time she cannot send me SMSs, she just keep receiving the "cannot send sms" error
When this happens, she usually:
- Cannot establish an outgoing call, and more important,
- She cannot even receive any incoming call despite the mobile being connected to the network, and free, so that the caller just get a "no answer" while she doesn't even have neither a missed call report nor any ringtone deployed.
- Receive incoming SMSs
I've already tried to solve the problem in various different ways, including(of course) looking for help in existing threads, flashing a new rom on the phone resetting more than once.
I'm just stuck on a dead point, as of now.
Do you have an idea on how to solve such issues?
The only "fix" we found was to activate airplane mode then deactivate it to restart the network connection.
I think it is something related to the radio part of the OS but i couldn't find different radios to flash on.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Paperboy,
your problem is contained into 2 possibilities:
Your Network Setting (the SMS provider number)
Your OS (most propable)
I guess the best remedy is to use the official ROM (WM 6.1 Professional). You may have used unstable ROMs that caused such a mess.
Unfortunately, I merely found the Arabic ROM (It can be changed to English from (Settings>> Multilanguage Support).
WM 6.1 Arabic ROM
Hope it helps somehow.
Actually, I think it's neither of two.
I checked more than once the provider settings, including the sms service center. Actually if it is not correct, she'd never be able to send messages, while the "hangs" are just...random.
On the os side, i think it's not a matter of roms, mainly because i flashed as a consequence of months of frustration with the original rom.
Any other ideas?
btw, thanks for your advice!

Hey there. I cant help but laugh, I had the exact same problem when i first got my phone and I used to think its a problem with the network but it isn't, if you haven't changed the stock OS/ROM, thats your issue, Flash an new ROM and it should resolve your problem.
(I recommend the pajerm RC3 ROM)
(Take care to backup all data, use outlook to backup all your contacts and stuff).
If that doesn't resolve your problem, post back. Best o' luck.

Okay this issue is rather different, What is certain is that the issue is not on the software side. Either your phone is konk or its the service, check the same SIM on a different phone, see if you face the same issue, if you do then its your network (which I know You said is unlikely, but no harm in making sure right?) If on the other hand, the phone works perfectly fine, then you have a problem with your phone's hardware in which case you need to get it check and probably serviced, worst case, get the handset replaced (if its under warranty).
Best o' luck
Try THIS ROM and report...Has a variety of apps as add on...Hope it works for you.
I'll give a try!
Thank you anyway!

Dont lock your phone with the default windows lock.....(use S2U2)
I know its strange but this helps, and do restart your phone every third day....
Issue Not Solved, but figured out
The HTC opal is sort of incompatible with certain carriers around the world, and this issue does not apply to all opals, only some of them have an issue. For example my phone has this issue with Airtel in my country. The phone seems to work fine with every other carrier. I think I might have to change my damn network again!
is it possible to turn off the thread view in opal??pls hlp
My phone just suddenly stopped being able to send mms/picture messages (it was working fine uptill yesterday). No new apps have been installed, tried battery pulls but its still not working. When i try to send them. the phone will say "sending" but the message never gets sent, it will just stay that way until i delete the message.
Im in Pakistan so am using the international GSM note gt-n7000. Funny thing is, I am receiving mms just fine and can browse the net using the data network connection aswell.
I was on stock GB when the issue started and now just updated to stock ICS 4.0.3 and the problem still persists.(im non rooted btw)
Also the few other people i know who have the same network as me, but are in another city are experiencing no problem whatsoever.
I have tried everything i could think of, using the default access point settings as well as manually entering them but nothing seems to work.
Could this be a problem with my phone and not my network?
Hi, I am having same issues on AT&T: i am unable to send/receive MMS/connect to inet. Everything worked fine before the ICS update.

I would suggest that you call ur operator pertaining to this matter.
By the way, could you tell us what is your Modem, kernel and ROM?

its all stock, have yet to root the phone, the ics is the official Germany release. The problem started when i was on GB and persisted when i came over to ICS... i can cope with a network problem, just hope its nothing hardware related..
Do you have other Sim card from other operator? That is another way to isolate the issue
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I've flashed PE ok and all's good except for a couple of things. Where's the best place to ask questions of this ROM; here or on Telegram? My problems are;
1. I can't send SMS messages; I just get "can't send error 0'" I've searched this problem but can't find an answer (that works for me) I've only one SMS app installed (Google messages, the PE default) and the SMS center number is correct, and. I've used *#*#4636#*#* to both check and update the SMSC. I have 2 SIMS in the phone and the other SIM can send SMSs ok. I've swapped SIMs over in the slots and that doesn't work. I put the SIM that doesn't work into another phone and I can send messages there. So I don't know what/where the problem is; the phone, the SIM or the ROM??
2. I can't save an emergency contact. In fact, the emergency SOS/personal safety stuff doesn't seem to work at all (I can't set anything up). This is not really a problem for me though but maybe for others.

Yes, well, sending or answering SMSs is kinda important on a phone! It's weird that it's a problem (for some people) on many gsi / roms though, must be due to something deeper in the build..
Fwiw, I've found that the ricedroid ROM sends/answers SMSs so I'm sticking to that one for now until I have more time to experiment. As I mentioned elsewhere, it might be related to VoLTE: riceDroid doesn't have VoLTE.
late reply but works for me
