Which one did you order? And I'm assuming you ordered it straight from Pebble? I'm interested in the brown leather/silver watch. I wish Best Buy had this option in store but it looks like they are only carrying the black/black. I'm kinda waiting for them to release so that I can see more hands-on and real world vids on YouTube and such about this watch. If It was $150 I wold have already pre-ordered, but at $250 I want to do a bit more research. They do have the 30-day return policy which is nice on Pebble.

I ordered the same one. Even at $250 I didn't mind. Pebble smart watches suit me the most. I've tried a handful of smart watches and ways go back go my original pebble even though I think it's ugly. I just never liked the previous designs. I love the moto 360's look but am not a fan at all of Android wear. So when this was released it almost looked like pebble remade the moto 360 so I was sold.
What functionality/design are you looking for? If you're not sure it couldn't hurt to try a couple and return them after a week or so.

That ring around the outer edge of the screen is not... screen right? It's just a fixed piece of ... material? Not e-Ink? Every single picture I see of the Pebble Time has it so I assume it doesn't change.

Just got my PTS a few days ago after paying $250 and waiting 6 months.. Are they going to be offering a free upgrade or something? Are they seriously asking for another $250 for this?

Mine finally came in and I like it very much. It is very sleek and I was astonished at how light it is compared to some of the other smartwatches I've used. For sake of comparison I've owned the OG Pebble, Samsung Gear S2 Classic and the Moto 360. I think the black design of the round is kind of ugly but the silver with the leather band is quite nice. Oh and the quick charging works very well so far, we'll see how it goes with time. I just charge it while I shower and I've yet to have an issue with battery life. Let me know if you guys want pictures or have questions ^_^

I'm still waiting for mine, so I'd love to see pics and reviews, and what apps work with it so far. I'm waiting for the small silver with silver band. So far no sign of it at all...

Awesome! Mine it supposed to arrive Saturday. I can't wait already. This will be my first smartwatch. I did end up going with the sliver/nubuck band.

I have been using it for a little while now and I will tell you all what I found.
Design
I am a big fan of this watch I think it looks great. I also love the band, even though people knocked the included leather band, I found it extremely comfortable. It is easier to put on and feels far more comfortable than the included band for the Moto 360, OG Pebble, or even the Gear S2 Classic.
I think the main element that is drawing me to this watch is since it is so thin it is the most comfortable to wear throughout the day. It is easily the best looking of all the Pebbles (in my opinion). The only downside I see with the design is since it is so thin there is not as much room for the buttons. I find that I am pressing these buttons inadvertently throughout my day. All the sudden my Pebble will start the music on my phone randomly ( this happened only twice in one week). So that is one downside. The other is I feel like I have slightly big wrists so the smaller watch face size feels slightly out of place. Other than those two minor complaints, Pebble knocked it out of the park with this one.
Software
If you've used other Pebble Time iterations there isn't too much of a surprise here. It runs well, the animations are amazing, and I am a big fan of Timeline. It was every so slightly slow. coming from the lightning fast Gear S2 Classic I feel like I have to wait for the software to catch up. However, the Pebble's software is far more stable than the Gear. I had my Gear fail to respond to messages, update information and other annoyances during my time with it. I never had to worry about the Pebble not working.
I do wish that Pebble included a stock way to create text messages. At the moment you can only reply. So I use Pebble Dialer's third part app to alleviate this. It is not a perfect solution however.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well the voice features worked. I was worried it would never understand me, but is actually more accurate than my Gear S2 Classic. Not all the developers made round versions of their apps though, I will attach some pictures later of what apps are available. I do want to say that I never had a problem finding apps I wanted to use. All of the things I want on my smartwatch I had available to me. Hopefully more developers will update their apps to work with the Round.
Battery
I was a little disappointing in that the battery got neutered. What I was pleasantly surprised to learn though is how quickly it charges. I wear this watch every day and go to sleep with it. I run Morpheuz's sleep tracking all night when I wake up it usually has around 20-30% left. Not quite enough for another full day but I put the Pebble on the charger and shower. When I get out of the shower I am at 100%. So effectively, I am never worried about charging it. Now this means you will have to include your charger for long trips but this is not a big deal for me.
Conclusion
Overall, I find this watch extremely capable. I am sure you will all love it.

I gonna buy that watch also (pebble)...money is problem just for you. Not for me.
Sony is not CHIP brand. I do not want to wear a watch which is named "pebble" with black and white display !? WTF is that ? We got Multi-touch color OLED display
-Sony WATCH cost 150 bucks...what do you accept to see inside kid? GOLD ?
I checked all stores...(main web site also) the items out of stock.
No bad feedback's about latest (MN2) generation...why so negative man?
You have it ? NO.
Where you got your experiences from ? From John? hahahah Who cares what inside.... is Sony not pebble...
Were you saw bad feedback's ? (the watch working so smooth and fast)
I bought Smartwatch 3 days ago, i confirm that it works well, without any problem. Don't have any bluetooth disconnection, notifications work "in time", battery is as it should be, fully charged it on day 1, no need to plug in again at the moment.
Need more time to test it and keep my opinion to say if it's really stable and a good product.
Regarding my phone's battery, when i check battery stats, Smartwatch use 4% so i think it's reasonable.
Sony Smartwatch
Just to let others know I have now had this watch a little under a week.....My impression so far is good.....it does exactly what it says it will .......with NO disconnections(unlike its predessecor the live view which always lost the connection and barely worked). All programs work well and the device speed is surpisingly good too(switching between screens and widgets etc). My only complaint is brightness there is no way to set it and in daylight it is hard to read the screen.
I got my sony smartwatch 6 days ago and the last charge was 4 days ago. So no problem with the battery. Yes the screen does come on when i shake it which is pretty convenient i think.
Sony's watch is more of a remote viewer and notifier. It doesnt use its own android system it uses the phones i think so it may not be fair to compare it to other smart watches that have android running on them. It is a lot cheap than others at the moment.
I'm using it with a Xperia S and the bluetooth only uses 3%. If i have all the notification it can do turned on then it only lasts 14 hours. With just text and email its managing 30 hours quite nicely
Hope this helps anyone.
just a quick question sir, how do you set the screen brightness? i've looked everywhere but yet to locate the settings?

Pebble is ridden with deceptive marketing.
For example, "e-paper" display? Please do not confuse with e-ink display.
The "e-paper" display is just regular black and white pixel LCD (not different from those already in use in today's digital watches).
And now let's look at what is inside a pebble shall we?
Micron N25Q032A11ESE40F 32 Mb serial flash
STMicroelectronics STM32F205RE high-performance ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, with a maximum speed of 120 MHz
STMicroelectronics LIS3DH 3-axis accelerometer
144 x 168 pixel black and white LCD
Spring buttons for navigation
Full plastic construction

Compare this with the Smartwatch
- CPU: STM32F205RG (120MHz)
- RAM: 128KB
- Flash: 1MB (For firmware only, apps are stored on the phone, not on the watch like pebble)
- OS: uC/OS-II
- BlueTooth: Yes (3.0)
- Fm Radio: Yes (disabled)
- LCD: 1.3" OLED
- Res: 128 x 128
- Touchscreen: Yes (Capacitive)
- Brushed Aluminium housing
- Battery - 110mAh
Just looking at the cost of components alone (let's ignore the fact that Smartwatch already has hundred of apps while the pebble can only display one notification at a time and has a silly snake game as an app...), Smartwatch is a better choice by far.
The curious part of it is they use the exact same processor.

Kickstarter Idea- TouchCover for Note 2...(PICS!)

I would be glad to entertain the idea of putting this up on kickstarter if there is enough interest. Would require a hefty amount of research and dev however.

My idea for that would be to integrate a sleek kickstand on the back of the case.
Currently I would say that the back plate would have to integrate some sort of kickstand. I think this wouldnt be too hard to do. Also, if you lay your Note 2 across your keyboard to see just how many keys would fit on this, you would notice that it isnt too far off from a cramped up netbook-style keyboard. I think it would be usable for most people.
I want a cover that has a cutout for the back camera so it wouldn't be awkward to take a picture.

I would just let the cover hang down when taking a pic. Honestly I think that the huge hole in the cover would defeat the purpose of having the keyboard there in the first place. It just wouldnt work. And that hole would look straight up stupid when the cover would be closed. Idk .

Love XDA. Fresh ideas every day.
I like it!
there are some bluetooth keyboards that you could hack up to make a mockup..
Honest questions: does MS have a pending patent for this design? If so, would it affect the development?
I'd support that, but depending on how long development would be. Lots of Kickstarter projects take forever to start shipping. I might be on the Note 3 by then...
I'd prefer a slide out KB case. How much would this cost? If it's like $100 no thanks

Great idea. Great mock-up. Spread ther word
I'd buy it although I haven't used a "querty" for over 2 years.
I would probably look really close at buying it if it were on the shelf right now. I think it is a terrible idea from a financial perspective. You have to look at how many of these phones are out there and what percent of people would buy. Like the other poster stated, we will be on a newer generation phone by the time this comes out.
You are also screwing yourself because all this money and time goes into one particular item for only one model of phone. Don't waste your time or money. Try to find something universal that many different phone owners can use.
THE problems with this.
1) The vast majority of users are perfectly happy typing on their screen.
2) Obviously, since it is so small, the idea of "touch" typing is out. It will still be hunt and peck.
3) If this is laying flat on your desk as you type, what is to keep it from sliding all over the place every time you hit the keypad? The Note II doesn't weigh enough to keep it in place.
4) Flip cases are already expensive. One with a kickstand and keyboard will be prohibitively so. Does the user receive enough additional benefit to justify the additional cost?
5) M$ spent a lot of money creating their flip cover keyboard. You would probably run into patent infringement left and right.
I think this would be one of those products that looks cool which no one buys - or at least not in the volume necessary. Think about it this way. Cases have been around for a long time manufactured by companies always looking for ways to make money. Since no one has tried anything like this you have to ask yourself why not? Probably because they determined they could not make any money.
Cool idea, won't work. You are trying to turn a handheld device into a desktop device. The ergonomics are all wrong.
Hi. For sure this is not a new idea (Surface) but it looks interesting. However the biggest issue is the size of the keyboard. It is too small in order to use it like a small Surface.
Looking good. I will consider to buy it.
it's a solid idea. Obviously, from a business standpoint, I"m like others and question how well it sell for various price points versus the cost.
The other issue I see, the cover lends itself to a landscape mode on the phone only. As one who uses a BT keyboard with the phone at times, not all apps are landscape friendly. I have Freedom Pro portable blue tooth keyboard; supports both HID and PTP formats.
Plus given the same of the cover, it may not be that user friendly for regular typing. The keyboard to type on would be about the size a chatpad used on controllers for video game consoles. Unfortunately, their size of my thumb typing friendly versus ten finger typing (what an awkward way to stated that).
I do agree there is a market for something that is compact, extremely portable, for phablets to type on. There is a reason way the Surface has it, there are quite a few for iPad and other tablets. Personally, I don't really like using virtual keyboards; I hold great disdain to autocorrect. II may be more old school since I've been using full keyboards for around thirty years, so it's basically ingrained into me the correct feel.
It's possible a slide out keyboard may be a better option in this situation. The bad part, added bulk. Not everyone is like me and doesn't care how think of phone gets. The plus side, if designed right, no need for a flat surface around, thus can use while just out an about, say at a bus stop. Then again, it could be redundant with the size of the phone which also influences it's own virtual keyboard.

I love the Windows keyboard (see windows key at the top left corner). If you do go Kickstarter, I would change that to an Android symbol. I agree about possible litigation. I would check make sure MS or something get a patent on a cover keyboard. If they did, you could still do it, just need to work out the royalty with them that makes sense for you to be profitable.

Manufacture defect in our screens? Internal Dip?

The day i got my Galaxy S4 i went straight to charge the device. I left it on my nightstand which is under a window and when i saw the reflection of my blinds through the screen, they where bent out of shape and the reflection looked distorted. Looking closer, the screen seems to have a circular dip in the middle left-ish area. All the devices I tested this do not have a distort. (iphone 5 and 4S, the SIII)
I'd like for everyone to look at there device and make sure they don't have this also. I cant check the devices over at carrier stores, abit busy sadly...
I've given a Sample of lines that u can use as a test and also left a quick video, ill try to make a better one but its all i could at this moment. Also its extremely hard to get it on a video vs what u see in person =/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ej5VCPnKls
Best way's too test are as follows.
1) place your phone right in front of you on your computer desk and look at your Monitors reflection. It works extremely well when you look at Lines or a lot of text.
2) Look at a bunch of stuff that's well lit.

My first galaxy s4 had dead pixels, my second galaxy s4 had scuffing all over it, a large scratch on the MICRO sd card port, overheated and would constantly shut off, followed by the display that completely died a day later. Sprint advised me to give the HTC one a shot. As soon as I got the HTC one home, noticed paint run off, gaps between panels, dings, dents, pretty much the poorest quality control standards I have ever seen. Now I have to find away to get sprint to allow a FOURTH return on a 600.00 device. I may have to get mean, I dont like to act that way, but what sprint has put me through to obtain a working 600.00 high end device is not acceptable, I would not wish the experience I am going through on my worse enemy.
Im not picky, and I understand mistakes when they happen. But two damaged/defective S4's, and one damaged/defective HTC one in matter of 7 days? I really cant even believe it.
All I buy is Samsung products when it comes to electronics, never in my life have I EVER received two defective units in a row. I feel like a crazy crack addict every time I go back to the sprint store and request a replacement. If sprint didn't have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee, I would be out 600.00, because there is no way in a million years samsung or HTC would take responsibility for scuffing or damage to the body of the device. Even with sprints 14 day satisfaction guarantee, you are only allowed 1 device exchange. So basically, im entitled to nothing with this issue, and any day sprint is going to show me the door or refer me to Asurion for a 3 day old 600 dollar phone.

Why would you even contemplate purchasing old techno? The gear 2 should prove a 'better' allroud experience IF IF IF the price is right. The Gear one was overpriced.

None are worth 300. I got the Gear at 30% off and thats about the price point it needs to be.
Nothing I saw today would lead me to want either of the new gears knowing they run Tizen and how they goofed the Gear launch software. Id say the best bet would be the Gear fit but only in the 149 range.
FWIW the camera on the Gear has been priceless. So many moments that it is more useful than pulling out your phone unlocking and waiting for camera to load.

i actually am not sure the G2 will be as easy to use but i catch all the shots of the kids i use to miss when i would have to pull out my phone from pocket and fire up the camera.
My only concern is whether samsung will provide support and develop new apps for the old gear now? It's not like they seemed to put a lot of effort developing apps for it in the first place! But even in its current form it ticks most of the boxes for me and battery life is pretty decent.
Plus the camera is actually useful and pretty decent in good light.

Apparently the original Gear is getting updated to Tizen too: http://www.droid-life.com/2014/02/25/galaxy-gear-update-to-tizen/
Love my Galaxy Gear from day one! Use all day, battery isnt that bad for me go easy 2 days! If Tizen means more battery life and same funcions on the watch cool! The only thing that i like more in Gear 2 its dark bezel on black model and lack of the volcano camera on the Galaxy Gear. By the way the camera at Galaxy Gear is actualy prety good... and allways one "the hand" when is need I only use my Note 3 to take important landscape pictures and things like that!
Another thing be able to make phone call with a watch its perfect when driven... i use all the time and dont have to take hands from the wheel
I don't see a reason to move to the GG2. I even see more reason to stay, we got android! Samsung would have to do a hell of a job with tizen for me to run to GG2 or even update to tizen os (like its been speculated)
The GG1 will still have its place and based on the refinements of the Gear2 like water resistance, the G2 will continue the migration of early tech. adapters.
I have a feeling that the real breakout success will be the Samsung Fit. It will likely be stregically priced to capture the segment of the market that are reluctant to tech. but interested in health. Desciding to focus on a limited, but capable level of features, that have demonstrated merit, and still staying reasonable priced, will be a big game changer; Especially in this strange segment of the tech. market where the manufacturer arbitrarily "creates solutions to problems that don't really exist in reality".

Which Pebble should I choose?

Hey guys, longish post ahead- but I would really appreciate your advice!
After a brief foray into the original Moto 360 a couple of years ago, I decided that I wanted to wait until the smartwatch market developed a bit more before putting down some cash on one (I ended up selling the Moto 360). Fast forward two years later, and I'm now looking for a smartwatch that will:
1.) Be reasonably durable against wear/tear; for this reason and the reason below, I'm not going for a nice $399 Huawei that I'll get scratched up anyways
2.) Be reasonably priced; $200 is about all I can justify spending on a time piece, especially since I see myself keeping a couple of swappable bands handy for customization
3.) Manage my notifications and calendar events in a straightforward way...in other words, I have no need for any fitness tracking functions
4.) Be formal enough to wear to classical and contemporary music concerts I perform in. This is actually a pretty important factor for me, as I perform a lot.
After many hours of research, I think a Pebble would be the best bet for me....Now the issue is choosing one. Which one do you think I should get? I have gone back and forth between the 3 models now, for the following reasons:
Pebble Time: It is only ~$125 on Amazon! That affords me extra spending room for alternate straps, wraps, etc. This is also the one model that I think encapsulates the "low-res GBC" attitude the best in its external styling. I thought that the Steel seemed to try a little to hard to be serious, which is a striking contrast to its not-so-serious UI.
Pebble Time Steel: Despite what I said above, I considered the Steel because it seems like the better fit for my concert performances, especially if I swap out the band for a metal one. I also appreciate the extended battery, and according to reviews it seems to have slightly better viewing angles.
Pebble Round: I have small wrists, so it seems that the Pebble Round would be the best aesthetic fit for me. That being said, I don't really like the round face all too much because makes the already small display that much smaller. Not sure if in real life this is a moot point, but I like having more information displayed at once. Also - not sure if this is still an issue now - but reviewers were complaining about how not all apps have been supported to fit the round screen...The reduction in battery life is also a bit of a downer, but honestly I wouldn't mind charging it every couple of nights or so, since I already charge my smartphone daily.
So....thoughts? What made you choose your current Pebble?
Thanks!
I think you meant Pebble Time Steel instead of Pebble Steel.
If battery life is not a concern go for the PTR instead. It has some design improvements over the Pebble Time, for example better button designs that are less likely to accidentally pressed by your wrist. The most popular apps already support PTR, and in my experience I rarely use apps on my Pebble anyway.
I bought my (classic) Pebble Steel before the time series became available, but I wouldn't change it for a Pebble Time (Steel). I don't need Pebble Health, Color Display and the "Send Texts"-App, and imho the classic Pebble Steel is still the best-looking model. I've also heard that the color display is more difficult to read in the sunlight.
I only use the straps that came along, but if you want to buy more you should consider that the Pebble Steel doesn't work with standard straps.
My first smartwatch was a Pebble Steel I bought used (and cheap). I did not think i would like it that much. Unfortunately the display gave up on me after a while. I just today ordered a Pebble Time, even though it may have shorter runtime and lower click response than the steel version but for me (as a shift worker without a fix schedule) this doe not bother me a lot. I like the lighter, a little sleeker version that fits my sportive ambitions better. And simply for the buttons, I would not the least pay the significantly higher price for the Steel.
To concern your points: I took the scratches-thing as a very serious problem, as the Pebble Time is known to take scratches very easily on the metal frame around the display. That is why I voted for the Pebble Steel, it surely is more impressive, too. As you do not care for the sports functions, I think it suits you better, as I personally do not want to go running/ swimming with a leather or metal strap, though the leather of the original Pebble Steel felt very comfortable and nice.
What I will do to avoid scratches on my Pebble Time is using some Bepple protectors (the name is somehow ridiculous) to protect it. Check it out, they got a special offer atm: http://www.clvrcover.com
You could wear this when not on a concert and when playing, you may take it off. Or chose a neon green one when accidentally playing on a punk concert
Good luck with you choice!
Regards
OG Steel more robust and better screen but many watch have screen tearing. No mic for input on OG Steel
time steel very beautifull mic for input (note, checklist.... ) no issue with screen but readibility lower than OG Steel.

Without screen Tearing I vote for OG Steel, but.....
Really love my Pebble Time Round. Don't really care about "apps" per se -- I use the watch as a notification device, not to "do" things (which is why i gave up on my Android Wear watch) -- and as that the smaller and round watch face works fine. It gives just enough information, but also looks nice. Battery life isn't great, but it gets about two days. For me, a guaranteed 24-hours is all I need. I'm going to charge my watch once a day, so as long as I'm SURE i can get through that day, I'm happy.
Like most things, whether it fits your lifestyle depends completely on how you end up using it. I imagine a lot of "power users" of Android Wear or even Pebble would hate the round.
