Hello people!
The upcoming Friday my contract with my cell company expires so the company in order to convince me to sign a new contract is offering me:
HTC One or Sony XPERIA Z1.
Beeing for 5 years a user of various HTC devices I was pretty happy appart my latest HTC ONE X that spend last summer around 2 months in service changing twice mainboard and battery on warranty.
This last experience made me a bit skeptical about going along with the latest HTC device.
Are you happy with your HTC ONE?
Any significant problems you encountered?
Is the camera as bad on daylight as I read in the various reviews?
Do you think I should go with the ONE or maybe try something new with the Z1?
Thanks in advance for your help and feedback.
Cheers!

Z1. Without a doubt. Use the heck out of it for the 14 days so that you can return it if you don't like it though.
The One has a terrible camera. The Z1 doesn't have OIS, but it's better in almost every other regard unless you're a AL-phile or need stereo sound.
Seriously. There is absolutely no comparison between the One and the Z1. They are two different generations of phone and should be treated as such.
I don't like my One. It's not what it was advertised to be, and I wouldn't recommend anybody buy the H1 in light of recent phone announcements like the Z1 and the N1 and the N3 and the N5 and the G2 and the (?)S5. Wow. Those names doe.

I am not a great pictures fan.
To tell the truth I usually post some in facebook or Instagram but thats just about it.
I was pretty happy with my HTC ONE X camera but I guess the HTC ONE camera is worse from what you are saying.....
I kind of lost you with the AL acronym.
Can you explain what you mean by AL?

Lol, someone is having a bad day?
The fact you are having troubles with your HTC One, does not mean everyone does.
Yes, they are two different phones, but the speed difference is only noticable with really heavy games and benchmarks.
With day-to-day use, a person cannot tell the difference.
A bit more neutral non-biased oppinion;
If you look holding a premium device, that feels like a premium device, you can buy the HTC One.
There is not competition in terms of build quality, not a chance.
I'm a stock Android fan, but HTC has done a REALLY good job with Sense 5 (and an even better one with Sense 5.5).
The Snapdragon 600 will hold easily for the next two years..
I'd try them both, and my suggest, if you do not take the HTC One, take a look at the new Nexus.
Updates from Google, Snapdragon 800 and a nice looking phone (dunno about the build quality though).

Al = Aluminum. And what Justin^^^ said is true. Suddenly, anything not made out of the finest materials feels cheap to me. In terms of premium feel, nothing can beat the One. It strikes all the right chords, and fits just right. And I do a lot of gaming on the One, and I actually DO see some lag, and its noticeable.
I maintain my position on the camera though. If you're looking for a camera that can capture any detail beyond the "with so and so at so and so", look elsewhere. But for just social media, this camera is fine. It won't perform in low light unless you get a perfect unit (unlikely), so don't count on that.
The Z1 has tons of cool stuff like SD, waterproof, dustproof, snapdragon 800, 20.7 MP camera, 3000 mAh battery etc. It comes down to this: do you want a premium feeling phone that performs adequately, or do you want a beast of a phone that looks and feels only slightly worse.
AL = Aluminum, H1 = HTC One, Z1 = Sony Xperia Z1, N1 = Oppo N1, N3 = Samsung Galaxy Note 3, N5 = Nexus 5, G2 = LG G2, S5 = Samsung Galaxy S5.

Lol seriously ?
@ Op
Here small comparison just for you between the two
Soc = Xperia z1
Screen quality = HTC One
Sound via headphones = HTC One
Sound loudness & quality via speaker(s)= HTC - here is definetelly no comparison dual stereo speakers vs mono low quality/loudness speaker ..
Build quality = HTC One .. glass simply isn't better then aluminum
Front facing camera = HTC One
Rear facing camera = i don't know what to say here z1 with current firmware trully sux but i know it'll get better later so i'd say z1
Battery life = HTC One ..
Software = HTC One - The software is miles ahead of z1 and better optimised it's lagg/stutter free
Overall issues with the device are far less then with z1 , with 1 you can only get purple tint camera while z1 has issues pretty much with everything
As for the camera @ Op take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46539474&postcount=2955
HTC One - camera samples thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169626&page=296
Xperia z1 - camera samples thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438859&page=43
Here the whole thread with bunch of photos so take a look a bit before you decide , take a look at z1 samples as well
That's pretty much how the camera works , if this isn't good enough for you and camera is priority for you got with z1
Lastly if you need any more insights about HTC One feel free to PM me i'd be happy to tell you more about it and give you more samples from my own camera if needed from any scenario also answer every question you got about HTC One.

There is a sticky thread on top of this forum that reads "read before posting here". If you did, you would have noticed that we don't allow any comparison threads here for the reasons mentioned there.
So if you have a SPECIFIC question about a SPECIFIC difference between two phones, feel free to start a new thread with it. But please no general "Is the phone good and why?" or "Is the phone better than...."

Hey guys,
I have been in xda since android 2.1 , went to iphone 4s, then back to android with the galaxy note 2, and now the lg flex. My phones always had a mid range camera, but this one is terrible, when indoors and poor lighting. It isn't the noise in the image that bothers me, because i know it's a smartphone.
Yet it starts to lag, as if i am using a 1.2 mp sensor, just when moving the camera around it smudges the view across the screen.. Thing is, switching to video mode seems to make things move in real time.
Is it just me? If not, i wonder the reason for this.. Fraustrated for paying so much for this device...
So... I guess flex support is dead

I had camera issue!
Your screen has alot to do with how it functions according to LG
They replace my whole FLEX with a new phone bc my camera stopped alll together
BASICALLY FLASH BACK TO STOCK
AND CALL LG WARRANTY CENTER AND HAVE A RMA DONE
Prolly not what you wanted to here but on the briteside (New Flex )
Hello guys, I am going to buy a new phone and I want either lg g flex or lg g3. My questions or doubts are as follows
Is the 720p resolution noticeable in such a big screen? I think 1440p is a total overkill for such a small display
Are the colours better in LG G flex? How is battery duration?
Is LG G flex TOO big? Is it comfortable? would you buy it again?
Last but not least, What would you pick?
I have a flex. I like the size but the lg software is a little behind say htc's. For instance, if your out and about, talking on the phone and need to look something up on the internet real quick, unless your connected to wifi you cannot access the web. For some reason, the lg software doesn't allow you to use your lte whilst on a call. It's a little getting at times. The pictures it takes are lacking as well. There is no stabilizer on the camera so you have to hold it very still when taking pics otherwise it's blurry. With a phone this size it makes taking "one-handed" pics a little hard. I hope this helps a little. If there's anything else you wanna know just ask. Thanks
How sharp is the screen? can you tell that it is 720p?
You really can't tell it's 720p. Nice crisp and bright. Sharp

I agree and disagree. If it's your only phone and you have no reference you can't "really" tell. Hold it next to any 1080p screen, Note 3 for example and it becomes pretty apparent. That being said, I love the Flex.

That actually has nothing to do with the software what-so-ever. The problem you describe is a network band issue. CDMA is notorious for this limitation and several phones on the CDMA network got around it by adding a separate radio specifically for data paths. S3 and I think the S4 and the older WiMAX phones like the Evo and such, but once they went to the "Tri-band" or Spark which is how Sprint wants to spin it (G2, G3, Flex, HTC M8, S5, etc etc.) They ditched the ability to talk and surf at the same time.
This isn't an issue on AT&T or T-Mobile because they are on GSM which supports dual modes regardless of the phone.

Correctomundo. No GSM phone ever has issues doing both. This is not a "Flex" or even an "LG" issue. Gosh I don't miss VZW.

Many of your questions are really matters of opinion. If you think a super high res screen is overkill on a phone then why are you considering a G3?
- battery life on the flex is fantastic. Amongst the best I've ever used.
- colors...the G3 screen is better. It just is. Especially since you can adjust it in stock settings. Anyone saying otherwise is really just trying to justify their purchase. I'm not saying the Flex screen is bad, because it's not...it's just not better.
- is the flex too big? Only you can answer that. I dunno if you have Andre the Giant sized hands or hands the size of a lawn Gnome's. The Flex's size was fine for me but I have large hands. I use a Nexus 6 just fine when many think that is too big.
- should you get it? Honestly? If it comes down to cost and you can find one cheap enough the Flex is a great phone. I picked one up just the other day for under $200. But, price aside, I'd go with the G3. Replaceable battery, SD card support, better screen, better camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and it's more future proof. Both phones are getting replaced but the G3's specs are closer to today's market. Good news is you can't go wrong with either.

If its in your price range, G Flex 2 would be an awesome middle ground.
1080p on a 5.5", SD810 makes it faster than G Flex even though higher resolution.
Havent seen any battery tests, but has to be better than G3, but maybe not as awesome as G Flex.
I've played around with the g3 for a little bit. It's a very nice device, and has a lot going for it. It's got a nice crisp screen, SD card support, removable battery, and a much better camera.
But, the g3 just does not perform well in regards to battery life. My flex can easily get me through the day with heavy usage. I'm talking Bluetooth media streaming, YouTube videos, a whole bunch of web browsing, some pictures, and your other daily stuff.
If you looking to buy out right the flex is not a bad choice, considering that you can find it for under 250 right now. But if you're looking for a little more support especially here on XDA, getting the g3 now or waiting for the GF2 are definitely not bad choices either.
And if you're into benchmark scores, I've got mine rooted with exposed and I'm easily pulling 42000 in antutu. That's easily on par with the g3 and the HTC One m8.
Thank you all for answering, you have cleared my doubts, I decided to go for the OnePlus One in the end

Upgrade from Nexus 4
I was looking for a phone to upgrade to from my Nexus 4 for under $250 and this seems to be the best option. Thoughts? I'm on AT&T network so I was looking at D950 version.

What is the Antutu score with stock rom? What is "exposed"? Is it a custom rom?
My scores are on stock ROM D95020b, rooted, debloated, with xposed framework.
The only other ROM out there is an unfinished cm11... And I'm not touching it until sound and calls work, if it ever will.
I've been reading around the web articles like this http://www.slashgear.com/lg-g4-wins...iphone-6-and-galaxy-s6-in-low-light-03395377/ and starting to get concerned with the Note 5 camera quality when compared to LG's G4. Now this is obviously assuming the N5 produces the same results as the S6 since its supposedly the exact same camera. Maybe the camera quality has been upgraded a bit since the S6? I doubt it. More specifically, I'm concerned about the low light/ night time pics on the N5 and considering getting the G4 instead. I know stores just started getting the N5 but has anyone spent any time comparing the two phones' camera quality? And how noticeable is the difference? Thanks!
Search the web. I did see a couple of comparisons but can't remember where. G4 was best in low light . Note 5 was more contrasty, iPhone was most accurate. I think.
Actually I keep thinking about getting the g4. If you go to that forum and look at the pic quality, it is outstanding.

Hi,
I am getting ready to buy another xperia. Right now I'm stuck with M4 Aqua and which can sometimes survive 2 days.
I hope you guys have some insight and help me decide, as I watched about thousand videos on with those phones :cyclops: .
I got on sight Z5 Dual which has 32gigs and X Performance Dual with 64gigs.
Do you know how are batteries on those two? Which one lives longer?
Does anyone have experience with both of those phones?
Ps: If anyone knows whether or not X Performance can shoot 4k with update? (not talking about root) and which one has better video stabilization ?
