i used cwm to wipe my phone but i did not flash it with rom instead i rebooted the phone & now it's stock on the Sony logo. please help this is not even my phone
i did try to use flashtool to flash stock tft but unknown sources & debugging must be enabled but the phone is stuck on the Sony logo so i can't even enable these settings. please if you can help then do,thanks very much
the phone's boot loader is locked by O2 & i had lollipop for LBL installed but it was getting very laggy so i tried to install another rom when i then messed up everything !!
1.Flashtool needs USB Debugging for Rooting ur Device, not Flashing
So don't worry about it, go for flashing
2.In Case u Wipe Entire Phone I.e.System, Data, Cache then the Phone won't skip the Boot Logo
According to me, the Recovery should b Accessible, So flash any ROM present in the Storage (if its urgent for u to have the phone working)
OR
Use Flashtool, it will help you recovering ur Phone
Go for the Flash tool method, read the Procedure Carefully
Good Luck

i managed to do it ,windows 10 64bit did not work so i booted to 2nd partition with win 7 32bit this also gave me lots of trouble for 2 hours but closing the flashtool app & disconnecting the phone few times & just as i was about to give up it's started to flash stock jellybean 4.1.2 & now the phone is working & currently the sony Companion app is updating it i think to 4.3 jelly bean. i will not mess no more with this phone, lollipop for LBL is a no go & because O2 locked the bootloader i will just keep it the way it is & just customise it with smart launcher & lock screen. thanks very much for your comment as it would have made me not give up & try again tomorrow. i appreciate it

I assume that you have tried the RR (5.0.2) LBL Bug-Fixed by Skulltus, if not then give it a try since LBL Users are finding it somewhat stable...
Reasons why Phone wasn't getting detected can be:-
>Improper Downloading of File - Make sure you don't Pause and Resume the Downloads too many times, so that it becomes corrupt
>Wire-- Use a Sony USB Cable only or a Good one ( i use Samsung's Cable for the Timebeing) -- Improper wires can be a reason why the Phone can't get detected by The PC...
>Try Another USB Port to Connect the Phone if it doesn't get detected by one...
These things happened with me Many times, Just Sharing it

i have installed skultus bugfree 5.0.2 last night & it kept throwing a constant error (system UI crashed) i wasn't able to use the phone because this error when i hit ok it will comeback instantly so i thought it's not compatible, maybe i got the error because installation says ((1. Make you sure your device is LBL with .207 stock kernel, )) but my stock kernel is not 207 the firmware version ends with 205 , i have tried the sony companion to update but it said latest firmware is already installed. what do you think about this ?

i know about rooting & flashing roms in zip format via recovery but yes i'm new to installing roms & kernels via the flashtool & not a big fan of it either.
Hey, I'm in pretty much the same situation here, except I am having a few problems which are keeping me from going back to the stock firmware.
1) The phone keeps restarting when it's in flashmode - meaning it's sitting there for 30 seconds or so with flashmode and the green light, and then disconnects and turns back on into flashmode. This is keeping me from being able to flash anything because the device disconnects through the process.
(Yes, I did try reinstalling the programs, updating drivers, restarting computer, using a different usb port/cable etc)
2) I did manage to make it stay connected somehow last night BUT flashtool would give me errors involving .sin's of some kind. I could get past all this by flashing the stock firmware using "repair my phone/tablet" in Sony PC Companion, which I have done twice before so I can confirm it works - but for some bizarre reason the software started saying that there is no firmware available for my device!
Please help!
2->If you have already flashed A Firmware via Flashtool and u want to perform another,
then you have to RESTART it (the App) Otherwise it will show
Unable to Flash "System.sin" as you said
1-->I guess Flash Mode has A Time limit to get connected with the PC, if not then definitely its the wire Problem...Wires should be in good condition

I didn't try the LBL ROM since I Unlocked the Bootloader but still,
In All ROMs when I install an app from the SD Card, they get vanished on rebooting.... It reads the SD Card and the App Appears
I guess there's a "Move to Phone" Option in it, try doing that for those apps installed in SD Card
There should be an Option of-
"Preferred Install Location" either in
--Settings->Apps(Select the Menu)>Preferred Install Location
OR
--Settings->Storage->Preferred Install Location
Default Option can be "Let the System Decide"
Change it to Internal Storage

use SEUS/pcc
If you are installing the rom using custom kernel, then the rom will not install even if you have latest firmware/baseband.
If you dont have latest baseband, Then put the baseband file you have downloaded to /flashtool/firmwares folder renaming the file .zip to .ftf , then flashtool will sure find the file.
have you tried wiping your device before installing rom.
it also might be the fact that the repairman that fixed your phone might have swaped the motherboard you have for a different one that might have an old baseband or something...
hope it helped
i am using stock kernel ...and i tried the .tft and .zip method but still no use..it found a x8 shakira file i used last time trying to revivve my dead w8 ...can i use that ? it says 2.1.1 A or something , pcc says my phone is up to date
haha i dont think thats possible
Sony Ericsson W8/X8 E16i/E15i Baseband 015 (Flashtool image)
Sony Ericsson W8/X8 E16a/E15a Baseband 015 (Flashtool image)
Sony Ericsson W8/X8 E16i/a E15i/a Android 2.1.1.C.0.0 Stock ROM (Flashtool image)*
*This is NOT a "Walkman" system image but the normal "X8" version!
Files mirrored on my minus account.
If you're on a older Baseband than 015 then you need to flash the baseband through Flashtool.
Edit: And do NOT flash the WRONG baseband ... if you, for example, flash the "i" firmware into a phone that requires "a" you will not be able to connect to the GSM/3G network unless you flash the correct one. Think trice before getting click happy.

Lol.. dont brick it again or at least wear vest or something before u flash firmware just for safety =))
Most custom rom require xxx15 baseband..
Btw why dont u just exchange ur phone with x8 it's safer to modify.. x8 is cheaper. Sell ur w8 n buy x8.
One more how much the repair cost?

LOL, the last sentence was supposed to be funny, nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway. Yes, it is safe to flash the baseband. This doesn't require boot loader unlocking as it's just the baseband (read: the genuine SEMC kernel and GSM radio software). The only mistake you could do here is that you flash the wrong one ("i" instead of "a" or the other way round).
IF something goes wrong here the worst case would be that the phone shows you the "Phone --- /!\ --- PC" picture on the screen meaning it's in download mode (same as Flash-Mode, though this is at a higher level of device intialization) as the firmware has a problem.

You need to partition AND format the SD card in CWM ...
(Edited for easier understanding)
i.e. let us assume you have a 4GB mSD ...
Create a 512MB or 1024MB partition for Apps to mSD storage
Partition the rest of the free space (either ~3.5GB or 3GB)
Format the 512MB/1024MB Partition meant for Apps->mSD in ext3 or ext4 (if applicable)
Format the second 3.5GB/3GB Partition in FAT32
Reboot ... OR ...
Turn off the phone and take out the mSD.
Put it into a card reader and copy the data back on your PC.
Put the card back into the phone, attach the back cover
Turn on your phone.
EDIT 2: Also, link2sd isn't required ... GingerDX and almost every other custom ROM already comes with "app2sd" by default ... you can set the default storage location in the CyangenMod Settings (Auto / Phone / SD) and you can move a app to the SD in the "Manage Applications" settings (tap on the application in the listing, select "Move to SD"). Be warned that apps having Widgets and apps that load during boot WILL break if you move them to the SD!
So I got myself into really funny situation I'm stuck.
I worked with xperia mini pro everything was fine.
Now I got x8 well older one... And all i did was rooted it with flashtool.
Everything was working fine from that point with root rights like root uninstaller (I just tested didn't deleted anything).
And then I made "factory reset" Deletes everything from sd card and bla bla bla well you guys know what i mean.
After that I wanted to install kernel but it's not that easy. So I first read alot and did not do that. Since it would require bootloader unlock and thats pain with 11W29.
So just after factory rest somehow I bricked my phone...
But it's interesting brick... VERY INTERESTING.
It turns on, it has flash mode. I can update it via update setup and tried to do that.
Nothing helps all I get is :
phone loading normally, then there is no menu, not sony ericsson home, not go launcher, no settings available no nothing...
To explain my problem i will upload screenshot.
And I can't flash it now since it's not bootloader unlocked.
And I can't access anything from phone.
This is what you call hard brick?
Hard brick is when You can't turn on phone, so there isn't any way to install ROM again. In Your case it's strange soft brick, cause it looks like ther isn't any launcher If You can enter into flash mode than You should reinstall stock ROM and kernel using flashtool (with version 0.2.9.1 cause it's more stable with older devices, such as x8).
Its not bricked. / You can use android commander to push recovery.
It's stock already and I tried stock launcher via updatesetup of SE,
And I think i need bootloader unlock to flash it ? or I'm wrong.
And Later on i will try with older version of flashtools
thx for answers guys.
No, unlocked bootloader allows You to install custom kernels, but some ROMs works also with stock SE kernel, so You don't have to unlock bootloader to install custom ROM or back to stock ROM
So i'm back again on same problem....
I have a Question if you wanna flash phone from flashmode u don't have to have unknown sources and debugging turned on.
Since i can't do that...
My following actions :
I will try to install fresh win7 32bit, since now i'm on 64 and on this system i was working with mini pro xperia, so maybe that may be the case...
I'll try to flash it with older version of flashtools 0.2.9.1 I guess if i remember it right (but on this windows OS It gives me : Error Flashing. aborted)
And I installed flashtools drivers and everything i'm 100% sure of that.
What I tried :
I also tried flashing it from Linux / ubuntu . same as with windows i get :
Error flashing. Aborted.
PCC gives me error when i try to repair it.
Update Service Dose everything as normal but same problem remains I don't get launcher or something just that empty desktop
And I would love you guys if you would give me few links to stock firmware of
x8 11W29 / E15i
And if you have something else to suggest please help me ;D

Hello and thanks for your reply. I tried flashing my x8 with provded ftf file and the problem still remains the same. If it is any help i can normally increase volume, access emergency calls and keyboard and other things. But the screen remains blue. And i also remember that the thing which is supposed to appear here is the language setup, if there is any way to set up main language outside android system i guess that could help.
Again thanks for your reply and your time!

Try Flashing a Costume ROM for stock kernel via Recovery.
Here is a list of ROMs. Just make sure you download one that says (Stock).
Hi everyone !
I've some problems on my Xperia SP. I bought this phone 1 month ago, it's unrooted, the build number is 12.0.A.1.257. So:
1. The homescreen restarts frequently and randomly, the Viber, and most of my apps too. I've got about 300-350MB of free RAM every time I check it.
2. If I'm listening music via Walkman app, it stops randomly, and if I restart the app, it starts from where I started before. I think it's similar to the first one, and the RAM management causes this issue too.
3. WiFi problems ...
Please help me, if you have any idea ! I'd like to fix these issues, because it was a quite expensive phone for me ... Thank you !
Well, the latest FIRMWARE is the 12.0.A.2.245... I recommend ya connect ur phone to PC Companion to install the update or maybe flash it with Flashtool :highfive:
EDIT: 1. I dont have HomeScreen Restarts
2. Walkman go perfect here
3. Wifi is stable too

Hey guys
I realise after upgrading to LP (rooted, BL locked), the SD card will not mount everytime I reboot the phone. If I go to "Storage" and click Mount SD Card, it will say mounting but nothing happens.
The phone knows the card is inside, but it just doesn't mount it. The temporary fix is to eject and reinsert the SD card and all works well.
I tried searching but can't find someone with the same bizarre situation. HELP! thanks!

Hey! I've got the exact same issue. My Z3C is rooted, and I'm running Lollipop 5.0.2. If I reboot my phone, it acts just as if there was no SD-card inserted. And just like you, I cannot manually "mount" it, I need to take it out and then reinsert it again.
And just like you, I have searched the web far and wide for a solution but nothing has helped.

as for number 3, I need to ask a question about this one: if I would use PC Companion to "repair" the firmware, as you suggest; would this really work when the phone is rooted?
I hope there's someone out there who might have an idea about a solution for this..

Yeah Ok, thanks. So that's really not an option then, because I would really like to keep root.
Now, a question for OP:
What firmware, exactly, are you using on your phone? I mean, which version and from where is the FTF-file? I'm wondering if the firmware version and / or region could be the cause of this problem... trying to narrow it down here...

Exactly the same issue here. After a reboot, the SD card doesn't show up in Settings->Storage or in MTP sessions (nor - I think - in apps such as Album/Music).
But it is always fully accessible from the file system, e.g. using Root Browser/ES.
The card is correctly recognised when I remove and re-insert it.
It's not a great problem as I try not to reboot my phone very often. For reference I'm using a rooted Russian .726. FW.
Funny how rooted phones are facing this
Sent from my D5833 using XDA Free mobile app
Same issue here, using rooted .28 LL FW.
Peace.

The main problem to me is that i can not use recovery , i changed to italian pre rooted and samevissue as with german
I suggest downgrading to .93 Firmware ( KK ) then flashing Global .28 ( Lollipop ) firmware using Flashtool.
But it's highly unlikely it would be a software problem as most users don't experience this but are also rooted with Locked bootloaders. Maybe its the SD Card?

I flashed a pre-rooted Lollipop made with PRF Creator via Recovery coming from FW .93 ( kk ) and no problem on my end It must be a software issue on some Kitkat releases

Both are the same class? It may look like a stupid question... but I had another problem and the issue was the brand. Maybe the class could be a problem?

Samsung micro SDHC evo 32 gb class 10 and SanDisk Ultra micro SDHC 32gb class 10 , the only issue is they do not ppear as mounted nor you can see them on pc unless you take them out and insert again , but both play the music and i can see the pictures on them but as they dissapear when you reboot the phone I can not use recovery , I can even with root browser I can see files on them
Oops forgot to update this thread.
Anyways I gave up looking for solutions until the phone refused to sleep AT ALL. I went ahead and reflashed KitKat and went through the whole procedure again.
The problem magically disappeared and has been fine ever since. Still rooted and lollipop.:good:
Exact same probleme here with my rooted z3 compact .726 and 64GB microSD card.
I replaced by new card, reformat many times, still same situation.
Card is always visible in totalcommander but not in the system.
It happen yesterday when i started the camera app for taking a picture. It worked for many weeks before without problem. Strange! [emoji43]
Hello, XDA community,
Since I couldn't find a thread here discussing this problem, I'm starting one now.
Everytime I start up my phone or whenever it runs out of RAM and tries restarting background services/apps, the "First Time Start" application reappears in the taskbar (it actually is com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice) and then the screen opens up the "Check Fail" screen (image attached). Tried looking at ADB logcat at boot, nothing useful (will try again soon). This problem began occuring since Jan 22, when I first started my phone. The phone is not rooted nor messed with (bootloader still locked). Contacted Sony for that, they suggested the obvious and costly solution, to bring it to them so they could examine and fix it, but is there a manual fix? I want to know exactly what is causing the problem and be able to fix it for myself only, since this phone isn't that popular where I live. I have nothing against Sony fixing it, but most probably they won't even explain what caused it (and it happens for me to be a curious person). The phone is bought at RDE.lt , which is a general tech shop, not a phone vendor, and thus no warranty is given.
To be honest, I would fix this by reflashing the phone, either reflash the current firmware (Country and provider the exact same as before)
Or flash a new firmware which is not buggy. It is known that firmwares are not the same as some of them are buggy mess.

Tried reflashing through Sony PC Companion, no go. If I try FTF flasher, is unlocked bootloader a must? I have flashed ROMs before on Huawei u8160, Sony Xperia X10 mini e10i and Xperia Go st27i, but most of them were custom, so I'm unsure if I have to unlock it now.

Download a firmware from XperiFirm
And flash it with Flashtool
It does not require an unlocked bootloader as it is not a custom ROM
Solution
Hey guys. I got the same problem on 20.1.A.2.13, tried to flash the 20.1.A.2.19 twice, tried factory reset but nothing happened, after starting the phone I always got the Check fail message. The problem is caused by the Startup Flag Service 2 (com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice), but I got a solution for the problem. Because it always shows up after the systemboot, we simply just have to prevent it from running at startup.
I used SD Maid (Pro or simple version doesn't matter). Go to App Control, than type in the search box: "startup", tap on it. Tap on Toggle Autostart Components. After that switch the On to Off and reboot the phone. Thats all
Hello, im having the same error. I have installed sd maid. I have searched startup and clicked on it however there is no toggle autostart components option.
