GSM on the Sprint HTC One M7 - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Alright, this is my first post to my recollection, so Im hoping this gets some great responses.
I own a network unlocked HTC M7, coming from Sprint. The thing is, Im in Jamaica, and im using a local service provider called Digicel. They do have 4G services, but regardless of the band I select I only get GSM. Thats the best it gets to be honest. On WiFi, Im all fine, but once it hits mobile data, I automatically get back to the days of our fore fathers.
I have done some research on my own and found that Sprint apparently provides 4G on their CDMA network. I am not very sure if this phone may have 3 radios as a result, and thats what causes this, but I needed some help. I literally just phoned support (Digicel's), who sometimes doesnt seem to have accurate information easily accessible indicated that Digicel's 4G data is available on their 1900 band. TBH, Im not very sure they are certain, and really and truly I am not either. Can I get some help with confirming if this can be used on other carriers comfortably re the radio config?
and if so, is there anything that can be done to have this use 4G on my network? I already did the *#*#4636 thing and ran through all possible network types. Still having the issue. Running lolli 5.0.1.
*Update
After having done some more research, I have found that the local service provider uses the 850 band for their 4G mobile data.

[Q] Bionic on GSM in India - Tata Docmo

Hi All,
I am starting a new thread for India specific networks on the Bionic.
I am new to this so please don't mind if i write anything stupid which i may haven't understood yet.
I got my Droid Bionic running on Stock ICS from States to India and inserted a couple of GSM sims which worked fine for a while without any tweaks. I used my device for one whole day(made calls didn't test data) and when in the morning i woke up there was no network. At that time in *#*#info#*#* it was showing as detecting network but as soon as the location updated, GSM would show out of service.
What i have done so far:
1. I flashed Eclipse ICS v 1.2 ROM and got network though very weak but couldn't make no calls.
2. I got ICARUS HD - 1.6.1 and applied the tweaks as mentioned in phone and got network stength increased but still no calls but a strange thing happened when i tweaked with build prop editor running ICARUS HD, when i changed to WCDMA Preferred and turned radio off and on it registered on the network gave full strength and GSM: showed in service as well, though this was only for 10-15 seconds and i couldn't test call.
3. Now I'm running CM 10 - released on Jan 18th and to my amaze I can use 2G Data though GSM state is Emergency Calls Only.
Following might be helpful to understand:
Current Network: TATA DOCOMO
Signal Strength: -99 dBm 5 asu
Neighboring CID: Unknown
Cellinfo: Blank
Roaming: Not Roaming
GSM Service: Emergency Calls Only
GPRS Service: Connected
Network type: EDGE(Also shows EDGE2 at times)
Message Waiting: False
Call redirect: false
Call Status: Idle
Preferred network type:
WCDMA preferred
I have changed to gsm only, gsm auto and all others applicable to no help.
I am trying to run my phone in India on network: Tata Docomo which probably operates on 1800 or it could be 1900 on 3G.
One thing which i am sure of now is that this phone certainly has all GSM capabilities and its some tweak which is required which i cant figure out. I have personally seen my phone making calls and now its running data as well.
Please help me on this!
Seems like settings changed with build prop to run on T-Mobile or AT&T dont seem to work for networks in India. Tmobile operates on 1900 and Tata Docomo on 1800
One thing which wont let me sleep is that why did it run perfectly at first and why did it fail if i did nothing to it. Can the network block the IMEI or something of that sort happened. It's been two sleepless nights for me now, now praying to the Radio God!! LOL!
Did you manage to get it to work? You might be right in thinking that it might be related to IMEI. Did you try and find out if the IMEI is considered valid by your operator since this is not a true worldphone its IMEI might not be in their database?

Didn't work. I had to give up on it. There was actually no way in which i could get it checked with the network.
I sold it off on Craigslist last July!
I now have bought another one to test. Waiting to get back to India to test it again.
Not all bionic works with gsm, only wcdma. It's HW A after 36/11 and HW B

It's quite interesting that it did work perfectly initially and then with CM10, the data worked. Did CM10 rom include its own radio as well?
I found something interesting in this thread (not related to Bionic):

Good luck with your new Bionic! Does it work okay with GSM carriers in the US?
I finally got to try it and unfortunately it didn't work for me. Mine is HW A '12 Bionic and I am on ICS. If I go outside my house and search for networks, I get to see only one network(not mine). I see extremely weak signal in the phone info screen and also it shows gsm out of service. I tried 3 sims from different operators. Inside my house, nothing ever shows up. In other phones, I get to see many operators. Seems like it's definitely a signal strength issue if the gsm 900/1800mhz and wcdma 2100mhz bands are not locked. I'm not sure at this point what is the real cause. I even tried flashing just the radios from GB versions as complete downgrading is supposed to brick the device. Needless to say it didn't help. I'm still investigating and experimenting.

Hi,
I have now tried everything possible with the Bionic to run it on GSM network in India but it has failed to respond. I tried both hardware versions and can confirm that it is not registered as a world phone like most of new Verizon devices.
The worst thing which still bothers me is how and why did it work once(Yes, I made and receive calls on Docomo network in India). It will still show network strength , detect network but not register. I cant find no answers to it and have given up on this. The model is now obsolete and is clearly not a world phone in my dictionary but I won't deny it having GSM capability having seen it work personally. I have finally dumped the other bionic as well.
Good luck with your experimentation though!

At&t + N9005 = Any data at all?

Purchased a N9005 Czech version and currently using it was Straight talk. Made the stupid mistake thinking 4G/LTE were two different services but pretty are the same. Now I have texting working just fine, factory unlocked. None of that region lock, bs. When I go out on the town. I'll try to access such apps like Firefox and connection error. I'm pretty sure I have my APN settings correct but it won't matter if the phone isn't gonna accept any data at all from At&t. I know it won't accept LTE just yet (fingerscrossed) but will it accept any data at all or do I just have a texting phone and can't enjoy anything else.

With AT&T all data is handled on the highband like LTE/4G which are the same and the slower 3G. Unless you can access those bands which are in the 850Mhz range you will get no data. What frequencies is your version supposed to operate on?

Not too sure how to find that out to be fully honest. How would one go about finding this. I'm pretty sure the phone can pick up 850 band but not the 700 band if that's what you're referring too. I know it can access At&t HSPA+ network but I'm only going by what I read around the forums.
You'll have to bare with me on the stupidity of my responses, haha.

Straight Talk LTE?

Ok before I begin:
Device: HTC One m7 (verizon, but works on any GSM/CDMA)
Using Straight Talk ATT.
I've been doing some research for the last couple of days. Some say LTE is not supported anymore, others say it is, but you have to force LTE.
I'm trying to figure out a way to get my phone to stay at 4g/ LTE speeds without defaulting to 2g/EDGE.
I've tried using *#*#4636#*#* and selecting "TD-SCDMA,GSM and LTE", but this later defaults to GSM/Auto.
Also status bar displays EDGE, and in settings/ device info it shows Mobile Network Type: EDGE.
This is getting frustrating because I was using T-Mobile straight talk and had the same issue. All I'm trying to do is get LTE working.
So what I am asking is: Is there a way to force my Straight Talk ATT phone to use LTE?
I live in the city, and know for sure that LTE works everywhere here.

You may have better answers in the verizon forum. This may not be an option though as I think LTE anntenna is different in that modle and wont connect to none verizon lte as the GSM radio is not the primary one. I would never advise getting a CDMA device to run on a GSM network. It alomst never gets anything other then edge.
Yes, that's the answer I have been getting.
But some said that their is a way around it.
I also have a Verizon access code from Straight Talk, but cannot activate it...
I keep getting the error when trying to activate on Straighttalk.com that the zip code i provided doesn't have coverage. It does so for every single zip code... and I mean EVERY zip code, no matter which city.
Any Idea on this?
If I could get it to work with Verizon, I wouldn't look further.

LTE Issue

I found similar (sort of) issues, but not really any specific to mine so I apologize if this has been asked.
I have a t-mobile N6, the new unlimited plan, and previously had a G3. With my G3 I would always have LTE coverage from work to home (35 mile range) and honestly don't ever recall dropping out of LTE coverage on my commute, which was the reason I switched to tmo. I've had my Nexus since December 19th and countless times I find myself with an HSPA signal and not LTE, I've tried rebooting when it happens in areas I know have LTE, changed APNs, and anything else I can think of but nothing seems to solve it.
Am I the only one with this issue? would it be a SIM card issue? Eventually it finds it's way back to LTE but it's annoying and happens pretty often including on the way into work this morning when I took a call that was not in HDVoice due to me not being in LTE.
This is 100% stock 64 GB version and I have done nothing to it since the day I received it.
Check your apn again, make sure it's on fast.t-mobile.com ipv6 (if it was already on ipv6 set it to see ipv4 and see what happens) ensure that it's on 4g in cell settings and not global.
Get a sim card replacement. It doesn't hurt and is usually free of charge for existing customers. If they charge you, go somewhere else or ask someone else. Or if you can wait, call t mobile customer service and they'll ship one to you.
Update to latest android version with the newest radio.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Get used to it. I think it's because of nexus phones having generic radio firmware. The radio for the tmo variant vs att or any carrier is exactly the same. The g3 radio for the tmo variant is different than the sprint our att ect.... Our radios aren't optimized for individual networks. I don't have anything to support this theory. Just my 2 ยข.

Unlocking LTE bands on a US Cellular LM-V405UA that is now on Google Fi?

TL;DR: USCC -> AT&T -> Google Fi -- Any way to get 4G/LTE on these carriers?
Hey all,
I haven't been very involved in the rooting/flashing/whatever scene since the Gingerbread-KitKat days, so my apologies for what might be a noob question, or if it even is the right question to ask.
A bit over a year ago, I switched from US Cellular to AT&T and brought my V40 with me. Despite some IMEI issues (was only 14 digits instead of 15, which messed with some online forms), I eventually managed to get it transferred. However, there was one big issue: I was only getting 3G/HSPA+ service. I imagine this would've been a deal breaker for most, but since I only really use my phone data for music streaming and Google Maps when I'm driving, it wasn't that big of a deal for me.
Then, recently, I switched to Google Fi to save money. I knew that the V40 didn't support the fancy carrier-switching stuff, but I didn't care as long as I had some sort of service. The same problem still persists, however: I only have 3G/HSPA+ service.
When I briefly looked into this last year, I remember seeing something about flashing some firmware that'd unlock the non-USCC LTE bands, but I'm not sure if this was valid (could be misremembering). Would flashing some sort of firmware on my phone allow me to have 4G again, and if so, what would I flash? The generic US unlocked firmware?
Also, not sure if this matters, but GSMArena and LG's own website both seem to state that the US Cellular's V40 model is the LM-V405UA0, but my model number according to Settings is LM-V405UA (no zero at the end). My phone worked fine on US Cellular, so I'm not sure what difference there is between the two models, if any.
edit:
Messing around with my phone settings, I was actually able to force a 4G LTE signal from T-Mobile (Google Fi's primary network iirc) under Settings > Network & internet > Mobile networks > System select and flipping the Network mode option between "Global" and "LTE/GSM/UMTS". Going from the latter to the former will switch me to 4G/LTE from 3G/HSPA+, but going in the opposite direction keeps me on 4G. To revert, I have to go further into the GSM/UMTS settings and select "UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ only" in the Network submode option.
Both the 3G and 4G options had about the same (slow) network speed of 2mbps down, and according to Signal Spy, the LTE was probably using band 4 (it had a question mark beside it, implying it wasn't very certain). I don't know if it's a band issue or a location issue, but since I'm on WiFi most of the time nowadays, I'm not that pressed about it... maybe I'll back things up and flash the US Unlocked firmware as a weekend project sometime.
