Keeping the N1 with 9.99 Unlimted Web for phones?

I changed my plan on my N1 to the unlimited web for 9.99 before the plan was expired. I love it. It's a savings of $240 a year, and also I think tethering was still not a criminal activity the way it is now (sarcasm).
I love my N1 but two things have really started to bother me about it, one is the battery life, and somehow I messed up my call speaker so now I have to always use the bluetooth when calling otherwise I can't hear anything (which isn't TOO much of a problem cuz I hate using the phone without the bluetooth anyway, but it's gonna be a problem if my bluetooth's battery runs out).
So I want to upgrade, but I really don't want to lose this plan.
Is anyone else in the same boat?
buy a phone out of contract and swap the sim, youll be paying the unsubsidized but the advantage of the 9.99 plan is worth the extra 150-200 youll pay for the phone.
or hit up ebay/craigslist.
thats what i did when i bought my n1 for att, out of contract and same grandfathered web plan
u can get a HTC hd2 or nokia N8 and still take advantage of unlimited 3.5G
I didn't want an N1 but it's the only Android device that I can use with the 9.99 web plan. (I'd kill for a pentaband Droid Pro) I don't like the way Nokia's stubbornness killed the momentum for advancing Symbian and above all else, Maemo/Meego but if battery and calling are of high importance an E7 or N8 would solve this and your tethering requirements.
I used an N900, E73 and E7 for quite a while and must say the E series / S60 devices made me realize how often good battery life gets taken for granted.

This doesn't work though. People who got the Nexus S were forced on to the 30 dollar android plan even if they bought the phone off contract and didn't let T-Mo know..T-Mo started blocking the phone unless you upgraded to the android plan..some people got it down to 20 with a little arguing, but that's it. Did anybody else find any other solutions?

[Q] Deals on the Bionic

Just wondering what kind of deals people have seen on the Bionic. It almost seems like 3rd parties werent really pushing this phone. I know Costco had an ad with some accessories, but I also saw in the ad that it might not be on opening day.
Has anyone else seen anything worthwhile?
unfortunately nothing special as of yet. i have heard that you can do the $100 off trade-in deal if you are upgrading from a non-smart phone. other then that just accessories.
I got the 100 off for using a non smart phone upgrade then 50 off the new every two rebate. See what happens.
Phone Arena's reporting Costco's doing $280 + a nice accessories bundle.
I was in Costco today. They said they would have 8 tomorrow at this store. He wouldn't say the price but claimed it came with $170 worth of accessories including a dock. He did say they would be cheaper than the Verizon stores.
I am seriously considering this phone instead of my Droid Charge.
Im getting rid of my Charge for this phone. I just cant take the battery drain any more.
I wonder if Amazon or anyone else will be running big specials.

Probably be some deals within a couple weeks, but I doubt it this week.
I just logged into my verizon and the upgrade price they have for me is $249. I totally expected $299.
I got this price by logging into the main phone account on a family plan and attempting to upgrade a secondary line.
$249 at amazonwireless
$50 for NE2, $30 off as loyalty bonus, free o/n shipping.
So one major gripe most reviewers had has been reduced. At $219, unlimited data and rooting it seems like a better deal, somewhat worthy of the delay.
I guess all new smartphones would receive such discount, but by most accounts the bionic is a capable phone and a significant jump from my D1.

For new customers only, unfortunately. Upgrade is $249.
wow didnt know verizon had it cheaper. was about to go to BJ's to buy it as I usually do, since the price for the phone is generally the same and they have better deals on the accessories. Thanks for saving me the money.
EDIT: just went to VZW and it only wants to give me a price of $289 with no loyalty bonus. I am part of a family plan but that shouldnt matter. I have been eligible since july for upgrade. amazonwireless says its backordered.
Checked this morning and:
Wirefly.com was $249
Amazon.com was $199 ( backordered)
Letstalk.com was $199
I'm hoping BJs/Costco will drop the price to $199 and waive the activation fee for me
Walmart.com also has it for $199. stores don't have them yet. Just checked. Don't want to wait though. Plus I'm always paranoid about a 3rd party seller screwing up my plan and charging me extra. Especially my unlimited plan.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
$269 in store plus $100 trade-in credit for old phone when adding a line.
Can anyone confirm the $249 price with verizon for upgrading a current line?
I am secondary on a family plan, and my upgrade isn't until 9/13, but the extra $50 off makes the deal a little easier to swallow. As far as loyalty, we have been good customers for at least 5 years, not sure how they do their calculations as to who is "loyal"

I am also secondary on a family plan and the best I got was $289. Just got mine a little while ago. Been with verizon for 8 years, but only 2 have been on the family plan I am now. Guess they dont count the other time before that.

My mistake, this price was listed on my verizon for me because I had a $50 phone credit that I was unaware of. When I asked the verizon rep he said that all family plans are credited this $50 every 20 months.
I went in to the store today and got the Bionic for $289 without an upgrade and almost 50% off some accessories. Got the phone $589, a extended battery and door $49.99, case and holster $29.99, HDMI dock $99.99, and screen protectors $12.99 plus 24.43 tax and out the door for $431.63. Saved $375.75

[Q] About Verizon Subsidies

I am a grandfathered unlimited user on Verizon. I have not used an upgrade in years to keep my UDP, and have paid full price for my phones. Yet the price of my plan hasn’t changed once. Back when I did use upgrades wasn’t I supposed to be paying extra to cover the cost of my phone? And now that I’m on month-to-month wasn’t I supposed to get some kind of discount to account for the fact that I was no longer paying subsidies for a phone? Just curious if anybody else got some kind of discount when they switched from a contract to month-to-month. I switched about 2 years ago and the price never changed. Figured I'd ask here since there are probably a lot of people with UDPs on month-to-month here.

If your on a more everything plan u get a discount if u are on edge or have a device that has been paid off, or a contract was completed, but i believe its only for people on more everything
If you go into a Verizon store, they are actually pretty good about going through your bill/plan. They tell you all your options, even if it is detrimental to them. I went it with my brother, reworked his plan, and walked out paying less. They never once gave him a hard time.

I am on an older style Nationwide Talk & Text plan. They used to call me all the time trying to get me to switch and give up UDP, telling me I would save money, but I guess they gave up. Has anybody ever switched plans and kept UDP? I'm scared to make any changes to my plan for fear of losing unlimited.

No when you got the first phone you signed a 2 year contract that's what paid for the phone, when the 2 years was up everything stayed the same except the contract was over and you went month to month.

What confuses me is that a lot of people around here have said that when you get a subsidized phone you pay extra for it in the contract. They say there are hidden fees that cover the cost of the phone over those 2 years. The cost of my plan is based off the average person who gets a $400 discount on their new phone every 2 years. With UDP, we can't upgrade at a discount so I am paying $600 for a new phone instead of $200. And I've been on month-to-month for at least 2 years now so they got 2 more years out of me without a contract all while paying contract price. Either way, it all comes down to paying this extra $400 every phone to keep unlimited when Verizon is trying everything in their power to get me to switch. That's a lot of money to have unlimited, but it's worth it.

No you only pay the extra fee if you are on the edge plan like i am for my phone, then when the phone is paid off you no longer pay that.
My wife's 2 YR agreement just ended and we are paying the same amount as we did but we own the phone now.

Trade in + tablet This weekend... deal or no deal?

Just an fyi for anyone that is interested in getting a new device for the sake of utilizing samsung pay or if you tripped knox and want to start fresh.
T-Mo is running this deal this weekend http://explore.t-mobile.com/samsung-phone-and-free-tablet-offer?clickid=Uwy1evSAmXFvxcUUakTDkXETUkXW-Rw3x0FAWE0&iradid=187812&cmpid=WTR_AF_187812&irpid=159229&irgwc=1#faq
I had two s5's. I immediately jumped all over this deal. I now can sell my old S5 and pocket the money. Used one S5 and got an S6. VERY happy with the S6. Did not get the tablet (don't need one, and I'm def not going to pay 10 bucks a month in data for a device I don't need). Salesperson seemed dissapointed I wasn't getting the free tablet. He tried 3 times to get me to change my mind. Also tried to sell me a 100 dollars case, I laughed at him. He then tried to sell me a 40 dollar case which I simply didn't like. I got the bodyglove for 14 dollars (which I actually preferred).
By the way : to qualify for this deal you need to have your s5 totally paid off. In my case I still owed some money so I forked it over and paid it and got the upgrade. My bill will be cheaper now every month.
Very happy with this deal.
I have an S4 knocking around and trading it in for a $15/mo S6 actually doesn't sound bad, but what if I wanted the 64GB? Is there an option to upgrade?

Thats awesome, are they just the little figurines? I have a couple from comicon... would love to get more. Did they give you one per drink you bought, or the whole box for 1 drink?
I called my local shop, and they are not doing it until Monday
Thanks for the info!

I got two of the standard orange figures from prior visits. So during my last visit, I asked the cashier if they had any other figures. She told me to wait a second and came out with the box of assorted figures.
Was happy that she was letting me choose one. But to my surprise, she said I could have the entire box.
