I trimmed down a bit the very good rom in object I am using by @peetr_ (thanks for your work!).
if someone may be interested (maybe those like me who like to optimize/clean things) continue reading..
I removed something like 50 apk's from /system/app (they were about 145 immediately after installation) and that without any side/bad effects, at least here and at least for my needs.. of course your needs will be different so you should think twice before removing anything (btw I added some explanations for each app so you should be able to understand if it is safe for you too to remove them)
(they can be removed from the rom zip before flashing, or also after the installation with any root explorer)
PS. that has not a big impact in terms of improvements etc, but I like clean things, less apps always appearing in running processes, more free space in /system etc.. that's it
I take advantage of this thread to advertise peetr_'s rom, which is very nice! A very good mix of sony stock and CM features!
PPS. I confirm Play Store works perfectly (installation/update/reviews of apps) even removing all the packages below!

[TIPS&TRICKS:]
1. if you want CM browser included in the rom to correctly sync with your desktop chrome bookmarks, put THIS in /system/app, set correct permissions and reboot
2. if you want back original sony lockscreen, put UxpNxtLockScreen.apk (extracted from THIS, see Hybrid rom thread > Add-ons) in /system/app, set correct permissions and reboot
Thanks man good job

its one of the best feature of kitkat
but in cynogenmod 11 rom its not working
but i enabled it in this way if any one facing this problem then go this way
1) keep backup of both apks Google home apk (Google experience launcher) and velvet apk (Google search) in sd card
2) unistall both Google home apk(Google experience launcher) and google search now( velvet apk) by root unistaller
or manual deletion by root explorer via root >system >apps>delete Google home apk
for velvet apk go to system > pri-apk>delete velvet. apk
3)now first install velvet. apk as normal apk(not a system app)
4)open it activate Google now >set language to English (us) >
go to settings >voice >enable hotword detection
note: ok Google only support English us lauage it will not work for any other language
5)now install Google home apk as normal apk ( not as system app)
that's it now u can use ok Google just say ok Google and voice search is active
note: ok Google only works in Google search app and on home screen not any where like moto x

Hey all,
I started futzing with Play Services and the Store and Search in an attempt to fix the nlpWakelock battery usage issue I'd been having on my Moto X, and I can't seem to get it all working again. I can launch the Play Store, but when I attempt to download an app (or update), it crashes (Unfortunately, Play Store has stopped)
I did some noodling around on various forums here and have tried:
wiping data/cache on Store, Download Manager, and Services
uninstalling Store, uninstalling Play Services, and sideloading them both (Store and Services).
removing and re-adding my google account, even trying to download an app with a different acct crashed it.
converting Play Store to a system app in TiBu, no dice.
Moto X
4.4 Rooted
Play Store v: 4.5.10
Play Services v:4.2.43
edit: Download Manager v: 4.4-5
I was going to uninstall the store and look for the apk for the previous version and attempt to install that to see if it'll work..
any ideas?
worst case scenario I can do a TiBu backup and factory reset, but my question there is... will I need to re-root 4.4? (probably, right?)
thanks all!
josh
Alright so I used TiBU to removed Download Manager and Downloads... and now the Play Store doesn't crash, if I try to Download something it just hangs on "downloading" and never starts... I grabbed two APKs from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/request-download-service-apk-to-fix-t2421314
and used root explorer to move them into sys/app and install.. DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk ... but I can't seem to get them to install.
any ideas?
thanks!
josh
Thanks for publishing it even it help me to know about download manager..
I noticed that if you try to update Google Cloud Print from play store, it shows a package signature error.
This fix should work on Google Play Edition based ROMs for international GT-I9505.
To resolve this issue you must:
Have root permissions
Install some file explorer like Root Browser (free from Playstore)
Open File Explorer and delete this file: "CloudPrint.apk" (resident in this path: / system / app)
Reboot your device
Install normally the Cloud Print from Play store LINK HERE
Reboot again your device
I rooted my Android Phone and deleted some unwanted apps with google play store, google play services and google text to speech.
Now how to add these apps again (latest version) as a system app for future factory reset?

Click to collapse
download apk's of these apps and manually place them in system/app folder using root explorer
